June 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost June! You’ll find all the details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to June 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will be in the app, and will be updated here if anything changes before June 3rd. As with the previous months changes could be made based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19.

We believe much of the lower levels can still be completed from the comfort of your home, which may be required in your local area. June Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. Since there is NO Level X this month, there will be a total of 5 badges available in June. The first badge will appear as follows:

Trojan Unicorn Details

Trojan Unicorns are temporary POBs that bounce to both physical and virtual munzees. For this month, they will be deployed on your account when you claim your Level 3 Clan Wars rewards. The Trojan Unicorns will stay on the map until 23:59 MHQ on the last day of Clan Wars each month when they are earned, when they will be archived on your account. If you do not claim during the month they are earned it will be archived immediately. Since this is the first month this process could take a bit longer so we thank you in advance for your patience. If you’ve ever deployed a Butterfly or Frog Evolution munzee, these will behave similarly with a few exceptions.

The points for Trojan Unicorns are as follows:

  • Deploy: 200 points
  • Capture: 200 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

In addition, capping a Trojan Unicorn will cause three temporary virtual Flaming Arrows to scatter nearby. You’ll receive 50 points for each arrow you capture!

You can find these iconic vehicles bouncing to the following landing pads every 3 hours or when captured:

  • All Clan Weapons
    • Mace
    • Longsword
    • Battle Axe
    • Hammer
    • Crossbow
    • Catapult

Trojan Unicorns will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a Trojan Unicorn on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Trojan Unicorn visits you. However, Trojan Unicorns will be non-blastable and non-magnetizable. You can access Trojan Unicorns under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Own Clan” filters.

Trojan Unicorn Badges will be released soon with any additional details prior to the first day clans are eligible to earn them, June 16th.

Overall Clan Notes

Please keep in mind Levels 4 & 5 are considered advanced gameplay and not recommended for brand new players. Be aware when allowing new players to join your clans. MHQ will not remove players mid-month from clans unless it is a disciplinary action.

Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB)

*Mystery points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for ALL mystery types. (Mystery, Ice, Fire, Water, Earth, Electric, Air) — this does NOT include scatters from these types
**Clan War Card is a new limited edition greeting card. It will follow all the same points and rules as other Limited Edition greeting cards.

Physical points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for ALL Physical types.
Deploy points are for all types excluding Personals.

Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.
Flat friends points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for flat Rob, flat Matt, flat Lou, and flat Hammock. Fancy Flat Rob and Fancy Flat Matt are NOT included in flat friends points.

Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal will not count for Physical points of any sort. It is not a true physical munzee.

For complete information regarding Clan Wars, access our Help Guide!

Hints for how to play during Stay Home orders:
Use the swap feature for brand new virtual deploys.
Use the online map to deploy virtuals worldwide or find gardens to deploy in on social media groups.
Watch the online store for sales during the month to help meet your goals.
Use evolution reset credits to get new CapOn points from OLD deploys (they do NOT count as new deploys)

And finally, be responsible. If your local government, your health, or any circumstances require you to Stay Home – DO NOT participate. It is up to each of us to determine what is safe and what is allowed. This is a game and not worth risking your own live or the lives of others.
Munzee on, stay safe and Play Your Way!

Requirements and rewards found in app are the final word. Please report any issues to Munzee support.
Play at your own risk, within the laws of your local area.

May 2020 GOTM Winners + June POTM Requirements!

This month, we took a break from Social DistanZEEing events as we focused our development time on some exciting new things we have planned. However, we made sure that May still had a lot of new things to interact with! We celebrated May Day in the Munzee world by releasing World Laughter Day specials and three new Baby Animals in Munzpaks! New Places Munzees followed the next week, which included the much awaited Beach Places munzee! The week after brought Smaragd (we can kind of pronounce it now, can you?) and Skyland, which has been a popular destination for many players! And just last week, Hometown Heroes specials started appearing on the map in batches, along with new variants for the Cyclops and Nymph! Last but not least, we also released a few new Greeting Card munzees!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the May Garden of the Month (GOTM), give one last reminder for May Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for June POTM! The badges for May GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early June, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

May GOTM

When choosing May GOTM, we couldn’t resist choosing another flower-themed garden — after all, one of the new Greeting Card munzees is called “May Flowers“! As for the other winner — let’s just say it relates to one of the aforementioned “exciting new things we have planned.” Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Flower at Fort Monostor, designed by Laczy76, and MOA UNICORN, designed by geomatrix, as our winning May GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Flower at Fort Monostor by Laczy76 in Komárom, Hungary

This cute design reminds us of the beloved Eric Carle’s artwork! Simple shapes and bright colors!

Good things come in small packages, and this garden is definitely one of them! A nice compact size to hand-cap if you’re visiting the Fort Monostor museum!

MOA UNICORN by geomatrix in Bloomington, MN

Did you notice all of the Flat Hammocks around the edge of this garden? It’s unicorn-ception!

This is just one of geomatrix’s gardens that highlights the new square pin design we adopted with the release of Munzee 4.0! He’s also made a garden for the Yeti and Mermaid! You can see these designs and others he’s created  at this spreadsheet: LINK

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Send your nomination for GOTM to iloveyou@munzee.com! Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

May POTM

May’s POTM called for nominations for players you’ve sent a Greeting Card munzee to. We wanted to help spotlight these special pen pals, who are crucial to staying sane during these difficult times! There’s still a little bit of time left to send in nominations, so if there’s anyone who fits this criteria, please fill out the Google Form at https://forms.gle/dqEHrv29yiK2YSnJ6

Congratulations to all the players who were nominated! You can expect to see the badge in early June. If you were not nominated, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for spreading friendship and love across the globe with Greeting Card munzees! We were hoping they would help players feel more connected since Munzee friends are perhaps the most important part of the game!

June POTM Requirements

For June’s POTM, we want to see at least 1 Places Munzee capture for each day in the month. Since the range on these munzees is much larger than most other types, we thought this wouldn’t be too tough to achieve — anyway, they’re probably already part of your routine!

Working towards this requirement will also contribute progress towards Places Streak Badges, so if you haven’t earned those yet, maybe this is the month to do it!

As in the previous months, this unique POTM badge is eligible for any player to earn regardless of previous wins. The badge will appear as follows:

We hope you’re excited for what June has in store!

ZeeOps- Operation: Outbreak Control (May 2020)

Agents, thanks to all the legwork you did last month, we’ve been able to identify some core components of the virus and prevent its spread to the remaining uninfected files. Now comes the tricky part — removing the virus from the infected files and salvaging what we can. Unfortunately, we found that the virus had not only spread through HQ, but to our overseas bases as well. Luckily, we have agents located all around the world to help combat it. We determined that the virus is particularly weak to extreme temperature changes, so you’ll notice a lot of Fire and Ice Mystery requirements below. However, the tech at HQ is not 100% weatherproof, so don’t overdo it!

In return for your assistance in cleaning the virus from our files, we’ve included a Stay Home Greeting Card Munzee as part of May’s rewards so you can warn friends or family who may be targeted by the virus. It’ll come direct from HQ, so that should be official enough for most to take notice!

May 2020 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You will only have until May 31st at 23:59 MHQ to complete this month’s Operations. All four Operation types are available for this month- the Basic Op (3 days), the Advanced Op (7 days), the Mega Op (10 days), and the Ultra Op (14 days)! We hope this gives you something to do while you’re staying safe at home!

You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going! This month features a variety of munzee types so be sure to stock up in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Outbreak Control” badge.

April 2020 GOTM Winners + May POTM Requirements!

While April still saw us mostly inside our homes, we were able to continue the Social DistanZEEing fun with a lot of new content! Since last month’s worldwide event was a hit, we created the Global QRantine event! We also released a few new munzee types — the Sir Prize Wheel and the Greeting Card munzees, which seem to be enjoyed by many! On the MOB front we started off the month with the hilarious Lou Rolls, which passed the torch to Baby Animals in the middle of the month. Last but not least, we were happy to see players posting their Munzee Bingo cards and enjoying the Zee-Dayz weekend!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the April Garden of the Month (GOTM), give one last reminder for April Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for May POTM! The badges for April GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early May, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

April GOTM

For April, we chose gardens that we felt represented our current Spring season in the US well. Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Circus Carousel Garden, designed by dt07751 & hunniees, and Easter Lily Garden, designed by markcase, as our winning April GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Circus Carousel Garden by dt07751 & hunniees in University Park, FL

It’s tough to make smaller gardens with a distinct form and this much detail, so kudos to the designers!

From the carefully curated colors to the clean, precise shape, we think everything about this garden is extremely well done! Looking at it feels like going to the circus and riding on an ornate merry-go-round!

Easter Lily Garden by markcase in Burlington, NC

We think this garden perfectly captures the beauty of its namesake flower!

Did you know that Easter lilies typically bloom in the summer when planted outdoors? The Easter lilies that you see in the spring are forced into an early bloom.

We also thought this newer garden below deserved an Honorable Mention! While we couldn’t award it GOTM this time since it’s missing a Garden Places pin (see below for GOTM rules), it will definitely be a strong contender next year! It is the G-Easter Bunny garden by Lanyasummer.

April POTM

April POTM’s requirements asked players to keep up with the deploys made by the event account for the Global QRantine event. Most of the codes were easy to find if you followed our social media accounts, but there were a few trickier ones tucked in with the rest!

Congratulations to all the players who were able to meet the requirements! You can expect to see the badge in early May. If you were not able to meet the requirements, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for participating in our Global QRantine event! We had fun planning out all the details, and we hope you had fun hunting for all the munzees!

May POTM Requirements

For May’s POTM we want you to send us a nomination of someone you’ve sent a Greeting Card Munzee to and let us know why they deserve all the love!

Did you send Jimmy a Birthday Card because it’s his 40th? Or did Kylie receive a Get Well Card because she’s been a bit under the weather recently? Or maybe you sent Andy a load of Earth Day Cards because he’s always picking up other people’s litter when playing!

As in the previous months, this unique POTM badge is eligible for any player to earn regardless of previous wins. The badge will appear as follows:

Please submit your nominations to the Google Form here: https://forms.gle/dqEHrv29yiK2YSnJ6

May 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost May! You’ll find all the details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. Like last month, it is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to May 3 and reserve the right to do so. We will continue to provide opportunities for ALL players to play Munzee their way, while also following our code of conduct.

If Clan Wars won’t work for you this month we hope you will join us for ZeeOps which will be announced on the 30th and begin May 1. Event Spotlight: Covid-19 Påske Special

While Munzee can certainly be a solo game if you choose, there’s no denying the appeal in meeting others who share your interests. Munzee Events are perhaps the best example of this, as they allow you to meet both old and new players in a safe, friendly environment. On top of that, there are usually activities, games, and — if you’re lucky — goodie bags! That being said, planning events requires a considerable amount of effort. So, to make it easier for prospective hosts (and maybe even recurring hosts), we decided to put the spotlight on past events, Munzee-Toolkit style! We hope this series of posts will inspire you to try hosting an event if you never have before, or provide you with ideas to spice up future events if you’re an old hand at it!

Today we’re featuring the Covid-19 Påske Special event, which took place on April 6, 2020 at Hobro, Denmark and was hosted by Primdahl, KalashniKitty, RosendalKFUM, XH558.

Give us a brief summary about your event!

I am a lucky Munzee Player – but we will return to that.

Louise asked if I wanted to tell about my last event “Covid-19 Easter Special” (https://www.munzee.com/m/event1585935939), because I actually managed to carry out an event despite the shutdown and quarantine.

My first thought was that no one would be bothered to hear about The Dullest Event in the World, and that I probably just would get banned since that is not the idea of events at all, but hopefully I can help inspire some of you to try something similar.

In Denmark it is forbidden to gather more than 10 people so far, and you have to keep 2 meters away from others in the public space, but since events first are automatically archived after one week, there is ample opportunity to scan munzees separately, at different times.

Let’s start with the practical execution. It has become very easy to create an event today and Spring/Easter Events were no exception. I chose the package without distance restrictions and with 20 virtual munzees ( they do not infect 😉 ). The virtual munzees were placed so that they could all be reached from the parking lot in case of bad weather and the QR codes for the Event Pin and Event Badge were placed in the window of the local Scout House so they could be scanned from the outside.

I usually organize an event in Hobro every month, so in the Event Description and in one of the Danish Munzee Facebook Groups I wrote that the event would be carried out, but under other conditions than we usually do. That the participants could come in pairs and scan the Event Munzees and take a walk in the area where many of you are really good at deploying Temporary Virtuals (thank you very much) and that if you should happen to meet other players at the same time, you had to follow common sense and the instructions of the authorities to limit the risk of infection.

Eskiss – Covid-19 Påske Special

There was also the opportunity to take part in the competition for the most “springy” outfit, by taking a selfie with the Scout House in the background and emailing the picture to me.

There were more than 60 players participating in the event over Easter – and now I return to why I consider myself a lucky Munzee Player and Event Host. I am fortunate to live in an area with many active Munzee Players, some very dedicated but also many “casuals” and I am lucky because there is always great support for my events where players from many social strata and vastly different backgrounds meet in a nice community about our hobby. So, of course, the Players, my Friends, should not be cheated for an event in April — although it turned out to be The Dullest Event in the World 😉

So dear Event Hosts out there, support your local players and throw an event!

And dear Players, support your local Event Hosts and participate in their Events!

Take care of yourself and each other!

What tips do you have when hosting an awesome event?

Coffee and Cake – Spend more time socializing than Munzee’ing.

Take your time to help new players getting into the Game and having a good time.

What made your event unique?

It was carried out despite the Covid-19/Corona shutdown and quarantine.

Would you like to highlight any future events you’re hosting?

There will be an Event in the beginning of each month (or actually Clan War) in Hobro — everyone is welcome.

Don’t hesitate to ask if you need help organizing your stay.

Thank you to Primdahl for being such a great host and submitting the details for this event! We will be reaching out to other past event hosts in the future, so keep an eye on your inbox!

Munzee Mistakes: How to Munzee from Home!

Last year, we started the Munzee Mistakes series of blog posts using tips from our very helpful and knowledgeable players! As we thought we had done a good job of covering the basics, we started going into more specific territory with the last Munzee Mistakes post. This post is somewhat a return to the origins of Munzee Mistakes, as we’ll be covering the basics of munzee-ing from home. While the core of Munzee gameplay is to visit many locations to either capture or deploy munzees, there is a lot you can do without setting foot outside! Here are some tips from both players and staff that we hope you’ll find useful, quarantine or not!

We posted a call for tips from our players last Saturday, and have compiled them in the list below. Consider these tips while playing to avoid the most common Munzee mistakes! For more, you can see what everyone posted on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

Tip #1: Maximize the munzees you can capture from your house!

Keep proximity requirements in mind, and deploy a variety — both physical AND virtual munzees. You need to be within a certain distance to capture a munzee, and munzees must be deployed a certain distance from other munzees to prevent crowding. Both distances vary by munzee type, but most munzees can be captured from within 300 ft. Some munzee types can be captured from a much further distance — if you don’t know which, read on as specific munzee types are recommended in later tips!

Tip #2: Virtuals are made for at-home Munzeeing!

Deploy a few near your home as well to attract bouncers (and to magnetize if you want to ensure bouncers will land), or if you are feeling social, you can trade deploys with other players! Ask friends or other members of your clan! If you don’t know anyone to ask, there are Facebook Groups made specifically for the purpose of trading virtual deploys with other players — those would be a great place to start!

Tip #3: Did you know you can deploy virtuals from the Munzee website?

This allows you to be very precise as you can enter in a latitude and longitude before deploying!

Tip #4: Deploy in a virtual garden, or create a virtual garden near you!

Don’t think that gardens have to be as large as the ones featured in our GOTM posts — small gardens are just as sweet! If you want a new garden near you but you’re not confident in creating a design, there may be another player who’ll be willing to create one for you — again, Facebook Groups are your friend! Though we heard that Dale of Space Coast Geo Store might create a cookie cutter garden for you if you ask nicely!

Tip #5: Deploy virtual munzees thoughtfully!

If gardens aren’t really your thing but you still want a way to deploy virtual munzees thoughtfully, consider high traffic locations such as airports and tourist attractions (i.e. Disneyland, Las Vegas, etc.). Another factor to consider is future events — check the Munzee Calendar and deploy a temporary virtual or a regular virtual depending on how soon the event is going to take place. Definitely check any notes the host has left to find out if the event will be rescheduled or canceled, so you don’t waste a deploy!

Tip #6: Places Munzees make especially great trades!

You can capture them within a 1,000 ft radius and you can capture them once a day!

Tip #7: Deploy Treehouses and greenies near your home!

Paired with a Physical Magnet, you’ll be able to attract all sorts of bouncers! Your mailbox can be a great spot for this, as it will still be accessible to other Munzee players (one of our rules for Physical Munzees), but will be close enough for you to get to it first most of the time! If you don’t have a mailbox, just look for the nearest street sign! If you are on good terms with your neighbors, you can also ask them for permission to stick a munzee on their mailbox / other parts of their property that are prime sticker locations.

Tip #8: Be consistent in your Munzee play!

If you are an active player, you may notice more bouncers coming your way, without even using a magnet!

Tip #9: Swap certain virtual and physical munzee types for points!

If you need deploy points for Clan Wars, this is a great way to meet that quota without having to scout around for new locations. This swapping is currently only a feature on the Munzee Website, so it’s definitely stay-at-home friendly!

Tip #10: Join the Global QRantine Event!

Munzees deployed by the event account have been “upgraded” so that they can be captured from anywhere in the world — but they function exactly the same way as other munzees of the same types! Here’s one you can capture right now!

Do you have any tips to share? E-mail us at iloveyou@munzee.com! You can also check out our past blogs about 25 master tips, 20 capping tips, 20 deploy tips, and 10 tips for new players. For more tips, be sure to check the blog daily for updates!

A big thanks to all who shared tips, and if you’re a new player, welcome to the Munzee family! As you can see, this is an interactive community in which players help each other master the art of Munzee. We’ve also been updating the Munzee Help Manual, which will feature all of these tips and tricks as well as a comprehensive breakdown of many aspects of gameplay.

April 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost April! You’ll find all the details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. This month WILL be different. It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to April 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will be in the app, and will be updated here if anything changes before the 3rd. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19. UPDATED BELOW IN RED ON APRIL 1 at 12pm based on player feedback via our contact link and additional updates to the game and worldwide restrictions.

These requirements are written with lower goals, and therefore lower rewards, at all levels. Much of the lower levels this month can be completed from the comfort of your home, which may be required in your local area. Some clans may have to choose for the first time not to go for levels they have achieved in the past. Some players may have to choose to play in new clans, or not at all for upcoming months. We understand the world is in a state of not knowing what the next days, weeks, or months will look like. We will continue to provide opportunities for ALL players to play Munzee their way, while also following our code of conduct.

If Clan Wars won’t work for you this month we hope you will join us for ZeeOps which will be announced on the 31st and begin April 1. We also have a GLOBAL EVENT taking place from April 2-30 with daily deploys for you to find and capture from home. Eventzee will also host a Stay Home able photo scavenger hunt!
