Think of them as the link between Widdlz and Mechz! Each month will see the release of a new PakRat launching exclusively through the MunzPak this year.

A noble new gargoyle has been mounted on the roof! Hailing from the Netherlands, you can add the NEW Lion-Goyle to your collection by completing your capture streak next month!

If you completed your January capture streak, prepare to receive the Axol-Goyle Skin (and corresponding badge) in early February. Read on to learn more about the latest addition to the Gargoyle family!

January Gargoyle Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a base Gargoyle yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $12.

As a reminder, this is how to have a permanent Gargoyle on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Gargoyles by the end of the year.
    • Each month, the price of a Gargoyle will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Gargoyle every 28 days.

What Gargoyle awaits in February? The Lion-Goyle, who’s counting on you to help it roar back to life! It is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as the players with permanent Gargoyles continue to use it.

Remember, instead of scatters, Gargoyles introduce a new dual-ownership mechanic which will benefit both deployers and cappers!

  • After 4 captures, the Stone Gargoyle will turn into a Cracking Gargoyle
  • After 1 more capture, the Cracking Gargoyle will turn into a Freed Gargoyle, which is owned by both the deployer AND capper! This means both players will earn CapOn points!
    • NOTE: Only the Main Gargoyle Owner will get credit for the deploy. The Temporary Co-Owner will not see a deploy on their side, but instead will see earned CapOn points whenever the co-owned bouncer is captured.
  • After 5 captures, the Freed Gargoyle will turn back into a Stone Gargoyle

For February, we’re trying something new and letting different team members take a stab at setting the Clan Requirements and Rewards! Check them out below and let us know what you think — though we hope you love 💕 the changes!

If you are not yet a premium member we hope you will consider supporting the game through a premium membership. Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Monday, January 26th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, February 1st at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Lou, up to 3 Water Bottles may be scattered nearby! Similarly, when you capture Fancy Flat Lou, up to 3 Champagne Bottles may be scattered nearby! As Lou’s birthday sparks fly, capturing a Ruby can scatter up to 3 Fires in the area. Blow them out like birthday candles and you just might score a festive surprise: 1 Zed!

As with other Flat Scatters, the drinks will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers / Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The scatters are worth the following:

  • Drinks:
    • Capture: 50 points
    • CapOn: 25 points
  • Fires:
    • Capture: 50 points (if you’re brave enough to battle the birthday flames!)
      • OR small chance to get burnt and lose 5-20 points

Deep in the the enchanted groves, a new band of mechz is gathering outside of work hours—the Dads of Sirwood Forest! These Middle-Aged Mechanical Medieval Fathers may crack groan-inducing dad jokes, but don’t be fooled—their courage (and questionable hobbies) make them a force to be reckoned with. Last time, you met Sir Loin — read on to find out about the next merry mech!

The 3rd in this new line of Mechz is Sir Ramic, a dad whose calm and comforting presence is contagious! His Pa-tter’s Wheel is hypnotic, creating an image of a beautiful sunset as it spins. Add this noble knight to your company HERE!

When Sir Ramic is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Pa-tter’s Wheels on the Mech owner’s account.

🎯 Capture on the Move: VAC Now Live for Everyone 🚀

Back in November, we introduced the CapOn Booster, and shortly after we soft-launched something we knew many of you were eagerly waiting for: the Virtual Auto Capture Booster (VAC). At the time, it was available only to ZeeQRew Members as an open beta so we could test it in the wild, gather feedback, and squash any unexpected bugs.

Today, the VAC is officially launching for everyone! That means all players can now take advantage of safer, smoother capturing while jogging, biking, walking, commuting, or moving along any route where you want to keep your momentum going.

This post is the official “it’s live” announcement, plus a reminder of how it works and what we still want you to report back to us.

🎯 What Does the Virtual Auto Capture Booster Do?

The Virtual Auto Capture Booster (VAC) is designed for players who want to capture virtual munzees while moving without needing to stop and tap constantly. When activated, this booster captures all virtual munzees you move within range of for the next 30 minutes or until 100 munzees are captured, whichever comes first.

To activate it: go to your Profile > Inventory > Boosters and select the Virtual Auto Capture Booster.

*Shooting Stars are the only exclusions at the time of this launch.

👀 What You’ll See While It’s Running

When you have a Virtual Auto Capture Booster active, it will show a gold radius circle indicating the area where it can potentially capture munzees.

As you move, munzees captured with the booster will change to show the booster icon to indicate that it is being captured, similar to the bomb icons when blasting. It’s especially satisfying when you cruise through an area packed with munzees and watch the captures roll in!

💡 Pro Tip: Know Before You Go!

Because this booster behaves differently than most other boosters, here are a few important reminders before you hit the road:

  • Your mileage may vary depending on how quickly you’re moving and how consistently your device reports location updates.

⚠️ Important Reminder About Background Use

PLEASE NOTE: The VAC may behave differently depending on your device settings, battery optimization, and background activity permissions. For best results, make sure the Munzee app is allowed to run in the background, and do not force close the app. The app must remain “on” for the VAC to continue working in the background.

If you notice missed captures while the app is closed/backgrounded, or any odd behavior when using VAC alongside other boosters (such as Capture Radius Booster), please report it to us.

This is the official launch, but your reports are still incredibly helpful. If you run into issues (or discover tips that help other players), please share them with us! Helpful details include:

  • Your device model and OS version
  • Whether the app was open, backgrounded, or fully closed
  • Whether battery saver/low power mode was enabled
  • Any other boosters you had running at the same time
  • Your approximate travel speed (walking/jogging/biking/driving)
  • What you expected to happen vs what actually happened

🧊 The Map Has Gone Cold!

Just when things seemed calm again, a bitter chill has crept across the map! In the aftermath of Trapador’s defeat during the ADVENTure Mailbox, strange icy anomalies have begun to surface. Certain Munzee types are now frozen solid, trapped by a Frigid Curse that appears to be spreading through clusters of chilling Wisps. Was this a final retaliatory strike, or an unexpected consequence of disrupting his plans? Whatever the cause, the cold is tightening its grip. Bundle up and take action — capture Frigid Munzees, clear out the Frigid Wisps, and help thaw the map before this deep freeze becomes permanent!

Frigid Munzees

So far, only the Greenie and Virtual Rainbow Munzees have been caught in the deep freeze, their once-familiar forms now locked beneath layers of ice. You can spot their frosty transformation below. Don’t let their chilly appearance fool you though — even if you’ve captured these Munzees before, thawing out these Frigid versions will earn you a brand new cap!

But the frost fight is far from over. As the Frigid Curse continues to spread, new Munzee types will be frozen each week, so keep your eyes peeled for clues pointing to what might be next. Move fast and help thaw the map while you can — all Frigid Munzees will melt away and leave the map on Saturday, January 31st at 23:59 MHQ.

These Frigid Munzees are FlashMOBs just like the Cursed Munzees from previous events. This means that the Cursed Munzees are actually a “mask” applied on top of a host munzee: similar to a bouncing munzee, but once capped, they do NOT bounce anywhere else. You have “removed” the mask. All Greenies and Virtual Rainbows will have these new types placed on top of them – only the first to capture on each type will be able to get these Cursed Munzees! So hurry and rush to capture them before others do!

Special Scatter Details

Upon cleansing a Frigid Munzee via capture, up to 3 Frigid Wisps will materialize nearby. This is the curse’s final defense mechanism — if it can’t stay on its original host, it will attempt to spread nearby via Wisps, like a nasty infection. Cap them to keep the map clean!

Badges

Thawing the map and clearing out the Frigid Curse won’t be an easy task, so Cappy has prepared two special badges to recognize the most determined cappers!

The first badge, shown below, is awarded for capturing at least 10 Frigid Wisps and helping push back the icy spread:
