Remember, instead of scatters, Gargoyles introduce a new dual-ownership mechanic which will benefit both deployers and cappers!
After 4 captures, the Stone Gargoyle will turn into a Cracking Gargoyle
After 1 more capture, the Cracking Gargoyle will turn into a Freed Gargoyle, which is owned by both the deployer AND capper! This means both players will earn CapOn points!
NOTE: Only the Main Gargoyle Owner will get credit for the deploy. The Temporary Co-Owner will not see a deploy on their side, but instead will see earned CapOn points whenever the co-owned bouncer is captured.

We’re excited to announce an expansion to the QRewzee system! These colorful indicators have helped ZeeQRew and QRew members identify Munzees that haven’t seen activity in a while — and now the longer a Munzee sits uncaptured, the more rewarding it becomes to revive it!
Not only will you see new QRewzee variations appear on the map, but you’ll also earn increased rewards for bringing these forgotten Munzees back to life. Time to dust off those old deploys and help keep the map active and thriving!

All good things must come to an end, and after 13 years of more than 150 battles we are retiring Clan Wars and ushering in a new era of co-operative gameplay to the world of Munzee! Say hello to Gauntlet Games, a new and improved take on our monthly team-based challenges. We know this change may come as a shock, but while some of this refresh may just be cosmetic we’re excited to introduce new gameplay features, and explore even more options in the future!

Why are you changing “Clan Wars” to “Gauntlet Games”?
Although we embrace the competitive spirit of our players, when internally discussing how to best grow one of the biggest aspects of the game we approached the purpose of co-op gameplay from a different aspect. While “Wars” and “Battles” may encourage fierce combat, we found what really drove the success of these monthly competitions was the camaraderie of teams working together to accomplish the goals our staff has challenged them with.
There has never been any particular battle dynamic between opposing Clans, so we have decided to highlight the teamwork of our newly minted “Guilds” with this new iteration of co-op gameplay. We want to emphasize that the Gauntlet Games are something players of all skill levels can aspire to, whether they’re casual players or dedicated Level 6 completionists! In other words, the purpose isn’t primarily Clan vs Clan (although peruse the Clan Leaderboard if you dare!), but instead the members of your guild working together to overcome the Gauntlet Guardian’s increasingly difficult challenges!
What exactly is changing?
The first update related to the introduction of Gauntlet Games is largely cosmetic, but expect more changes in the coming months! For now the main changes you’ll notice are:

Mentions of “Clan Wars Requirements” have been updated to “Gauntlet Guide”
Mentions of “Clan Weapons” have been updated to “Gauntlet Weapons”

Alongside these copy changes, we’ve updated art assets that reference the old Clan Wars branding as well, which means you’ll see various new logos for Gauntlet Games in place of old Clan Wars ones.
We’ve also polished the base Gauntlet Weapon pin images with the introduction of an ALL NEW Weapon Forging feature you can read about further down in this post. These base designs may not look drastically different from before, but they are definitely a little sleeker, and set the stage for some striking new forms when forged!

So if you notice an area in the app or online that still needs to be updated, please give us some time to get everything cleaned up before sending in support tickets.
When can I expect to see these changes?
We will be updating most areas of the app and its related websites over the next few days. During this transition period, you may still find old references to “Clan Wars”, “Clan Weapons”, and “Clans”, or you may still see old Clan Wars logos and other images. Please refrain from creating support tickets or commenting on our social posts about these old references / images as they are most likely already on our list of things to update — we just need the time to update them.
Of course, if a significant amount of time has passed and a certain area still hasn’t been updated, perhaps we did truly miss it. So, if you do notice an area we missed after May 28, 2026 — please do let us know!
How can I participate in Gauntlet Games?
Whether you’re in a guild of 1 or a guild of up to 10, you can play your way and strive to meet the requirements set for your preferred level in the current month’s Gauntlet Games. All you need to do is either create or join a guild! Here are our Help Guide articles that will walk you through the process — again, please note that it may still use the old Clan Wars terminology depending on how soon you visit these links after this blog is published, but the processes should still be the same:

Valentine’s Day may be over, but Flat Day the 13th: The Game is still going strong — so we figured, it’s never too late to put out some love songs! You may remember our Jukebox Specials from a few years ago — we’ve updated them now to fit our more medZEEval MHQ world! They are live NOW until Sunday, March 8th at 23:59 MHQ, though like the Traveling Troupe Specials, they will most likely return with more songs in the future!
LuteBox Specials
Look forward to seeing Munzee-fied versions of classic hits! These specials will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 1,500 Evergreen LuteBoxes and 1,500 Velvet LuteBoxes.
They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.
These specials will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a LuteBox on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same LuteBox visits you. These munzees will not be blastable. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the LuteBox specials under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.
When a LuteBox is captured, it will scatter up to 1LuteBox Record for regular players, and up to 3 LuteBox Records for Premium Members. At launch each LuteBox has the potential to scatter different records!
While we want to keep most of the records a surprise right now, here’s a sneak peek at one of them:
These scatters will be worth 50 points per capture and visible to any player! They expire after 30 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well!

Recently we launched the CapOn Booster, which, despite being only 2nd place in the latest vote, seems to have been warmly received! Now we’re excited to launch what you’ve really been waiting for — the Virtual Auto Capture Booster! However, as we are still fully testing all functionality, we’re making it available to ZeeQRew Members only for now. Then, after we’ve received sufficient feedback and made adjustments accordingly, we’ll make it available to all! Consider it an open beta test to our most loyal players. To access these latest features, you’ll need to make sure you’re on the latest version of Munzee from the App Stores (4.1.246 on iOS and 4.1.247 Android), then restart the app to pull down the latest over-the-air update version #1219.
🎯 What Does the Virtual Auto Capture Booster Do?
The Virtual Auto Capture Booster (VAC) is designed for our players who want to safely capture munzees along their route while jogging, biking, or moving their bodies in other ways! When activated, this Booster captures all virtual munzees you move within range of for the next 30 minutes or until 100 munzees are captured, whichever comes first. Now you won’t have to interrupt your exercise flow as often! To activate this booster, head to your Profile, tap on Inventory, then tap on Boosters and select the Virtual Auto Capture Booster.
When you have a Virtual Auto Capture Booster active, it will show a gold radius circle indicating the area of the map where it can potentially capture munzees. As you move, the munzees captured with the booster will change to show the booster icon to indicate that it is being captured, similar to the bomb icons when blasting! Check out the screenshots below to see how we sucked up and captured a whole field of Surprise Munzees!
NOTE KNOWN ISSUES: Since this is an early soft launch, there may still be some issues capturing all virtuals when running in the background (with the app closed) or when using it alongside the Capture Radius Booster. The app MUST remain “on” for the VAC to work in the background, do not force close the app.
💡 Pro Tip: Know Before You Go!
As this booster works quite differently from all the others we’ve released, there are some important points to keep in mind:
Your mileage may vary depending on how quickly you’re moving!
This booster WILL use up more of your device’s power as it will run in the background
This booster WILL capture bouncer destinations — so DO NOT deploy any while you have it running, otherwise it will be capped immediately after you deploy it, possibly with 0 bouncers inside!

Hot on the heels of last week’s Quick Deploy quality-of-life update, we’re back with another round of improvements to power up your gameplay! This time we’re boosting Magnets, rolling out a long-awaited Badge section overhaul, enhancing the map’s Follow Mode, and unlocking the full archive of Secret ZeeOps for agents old and new. To access these latest features, you’ll need to make sure you’re on the latest version of Munzee from the App Stores (4.1.246 on both iOS and 4.1.247 Android), then restart the app to pull down the latest over-the-air update version #1219.
Whether you love chasing bouncers, organizing your achievements, navigating on the go, or diving into covert operations, there’s something in this update for you. Read on to learn all about what’s new!
🧲 NEW Magnet Bonuses!
From now on, every time you capture a bouncer that was attracted by a magnet, you’ll score an extra +50 points! That’s right—whether it’s your magnet or someone else’s, you’ll still snag the same sweet bonus. So go ahead and help your friends (and yourself!) reel in boosted captures all around the map.
Ready to start pulling in those boosted captures? You can stock up on Magnets anytime in the In-App Store, or grab a bundle from our Online Store HERE!
NOTE: If you use a magnet on a partially filled bouncer destination, only the newly arriving bouncers that are attracted by the magnet will receive this boost—not the bouncers that were already inside at the time of magnetization. This means you can earn more points by using magnets on empty bouncer destinations!
🏅 Badge Reorganization Updates
Next up is a long-requested quality-of-life improvement that many of you have been asking for — the Badges sectionhas been reorganized so it’s faster, clearer, and a lot more fun to browse!
Expandable badge categories: Instead of loading your entire badge history all at once, the Badges section is now split into expandable categories. This means no more waiting forever for giant lists to load—just tap open the sections you care about.
Recently earned badges at the top: You’ll now see a quick overview of your most recently earned badges right at the top of the screen, so you can easily admire your latest accomplishments.
Per-category sneak peek: Each category shows the 2 most recently earned badges in that group, plus the next 2 badges in the list that you haven’t earned yet—helping you see exactly what you’re close to achieving.
Powerful badge search: Looking for something specific? You can now search badges by title, description, requirement, and more, making it easier than ever to track down goals.
NOTE: The Specials tab now has the ability to search also!
Whether you’re a completionist or just chasing your next milestone, this new layout should make badge hunting smoother and far more satisfying.
📍 Follow Mode & Turn Follow Enhancements
We’re also giving some love to an advanced feature that many players may not have discovered yet: Follow Mode on the map! This handy tool keeps your blue location dot locked to the center of the screen and automatically moves the map as you move in the real world.
How to use Follow Mode:
On the map, tap and hold the crosshair button for 5+ seconds until your device vibrates and the crosshair turns red.
Your blue location dot will now stay centered, and the map will move and update as you walk or drive.
To disable Follow Mode, simply tap and hold the crosshair again until the device vibrates and the icon returns to its original color.
We’ve now added an extra option on top of this called Turn Follow Mode, which also rotates the map to match the direction you’re facing in the real world—perfect for on-the-go navigation!
How to use Turn Follow Mode:
First, activate Follow Mode as described above so the crosshair is red.
Then, tap the red crosshair once to turn it into a blue navigation arrow. The map will now rotate as you turn, keeping your direction aligned.
To switch back to standard Follow Mode, tap the blue arrow again to return it to the red crosshair.
To fully disable Follow Mode, tap and hold until your device vibrates and the icon returns to its original color.
Whether you prefer a fixed map or one that rotates with you, these options give you more control over how you explore the Munzee world.

Last but not least, we’ve made an exciting change for all you agents out there: ALL past Secret ZeeOps are now available for purchase!
Already finished your current operation and itching for more? Now you can browse the full archive of past Secret ZeeOps and pick up another mission whenever you’re ready. Revisit an old favorite you missed the first time, or challenge yourself with an operation you’ve never tried before—your next classified assignment is just a tap away.

To activate this booster, head to your Profile, tap on Inventory, then tap on Boosters and select the CapOn Booster.

Check the Events section of the Munzee app to find an upcoming event, or the Munzee Calendar on the website
Deploy a bunch of Greeting Cards near the event area ahead of time (less than 7 days before the start of the event)
Activate your CapOn Booster right around the start time of the event — or when you start seeing a flurry of CapOns in your activity feed
That way, while everyone’s busy capturing your deploys, you’ll be racking up double the CapOn points!
