🧊 The Map Has Gone Cold!

Just when things seemed calm again, a bitter chill has crept across the map! In the aftermath of Trapador’s defeat during the ADVENTure Mailbox, strange icy anomalies have begun to surface. Certain Munzee types are now frozen solid, trapped by a Frigid Curse that appears to be spreading through clusters of chilling Wisps. Was this a final retaliatory strike, or an unexpected consequence of disrupting his plans? Whatever the cause, the cold is tightening its grip. Bundle up and take action — capture Frigid Munzees, clear out the Frigid Wisps, and help thaw the map before this deep freeze becomes permanent!

Frigid Munzees

So far, only the Greenie and Virtual Rainbow Munzees have been caught in the deep freeze, their once-familiar forms now locked beneath layers of ice. You can spot their frosty transformation below. Don’t let their chilly appearance fool you though — even if you’ve captured these Munzees before, thawing out these Frigid versions will earn you a brand new cap!

But the frost fight is far from over. As the Frigid Curse continues to spread, new Munzee types will be frozen each week, so keep your eyes peeled for clues pointing to what might be next. Move fast and help thaw the map while you can — all Frigid Munzees will melt away and leave the map on Sunday, January 31st at 23:59 MHQ.

These Frigid Munzees are FlashMOBs just like the Cursed Munzees from previous events. This means that the Cursed Munzees are actually a “mask” applied on top of a host munzee: similar to a bouncing munzee, but once capped, they do NOT bounce anywhere else. You have “removed” the mask. All Greenies and Virtual Rainbows will have these new types placed on top of them – only the first to capture on each type will be able to get these Cursed Munzees! So hurry and rush to capture them before others do!

Special Scatter Details

Upon cleansing a Frigid Munzee via capture, up to 3 Frigid Wisps will materialize nearby. This is the curse’s final defense mechanism — if it can’t stay on its original host, it will attempt to spread nearby via Wisps, like a nasty infection. Cap them to keep the map clean!

Badges

Thawing the map and clearing out the Frigid Curse won’t be an easy task, so Cappy has prepared two special badges to recognize the most determined cappers!

The first badge, shown below, is awarded for capturing at least 10 Frigid Wisps and helping push back the icy spread:

One badge is revealed, but the other is still on ice — stay sharp as the frost fight continues!

The frost is spreading, but the thaw starts with you! Jump in, capture Frigid Munzees, and help reclaim the map before the cold settles in for good.

Think of them as the link between Widdlz and Mechz! Each month will see the release of a new PakRat launching exclusively through the MunzPak this year.

✨ Earn Streaks to Awaken Gargoyles 🗿

Perched high above the map and watching every move, the Gargoyles are ready to awaken! These stone sentinels are the newest monthly streak bouncers, bringing a magical and fantastical flair to 2026. By maintaining your daily capture streak each month, you will slowly chip away at their stony shells and unlock powerful new Gargoyle skins. Each earned skin marks your dedication and brings these ancient guardians one step closer to freedom.

But this launch holds something entirely new for Munzee. For the first time ever, Gargoyles introduce the concept of dual-owned bouncers! Once freed, a Gargoyle can exist as a single bouncer shared between the original owner and the capper, rewarding both players and creating a brand-new way to collaborate on the map. This exciting new mechanic is debuting with streak bouncers, but it opens the door to future possibilities like clan-based bouncers in Clan Wars or special shared bouncers for Event Hosts.

To unlock this new power, players will need to stay disciplined — your first Gargoyle skin will be earned in February, and once equipped, you will crack open access to the new dual-owned streak bouncers. Stay consistent, keep your streak alive, and read on to learn how to bring these legendary guardians to life!

Gargoyle Details

The Gargoyle is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on January 31st, 2027. It is currently available in the Freeze Tag Store for $12, and each month its price will decrease by $1. You can purchase 1 Gargoyle every 28 days. If you own at least 8 temporary Gargoyles at the end of the year, you’ll be able to keep a permanent one going into (and beyond) February 2027! Plus you can continue using all the skins you’ve collected each month!

Like last year, you will have to keep your streak up in January to receive the first skin (the Axol-Goyle shown above) in February. The pattern continues for the remaining months — if you keep up your capture streak for an entire month, you will receive the skin for it the next month. You can change the skin on these at any point (more info below!) as long as you have earned it. We will release full details for the Axol-Goyle on February 1st, but otherwise here are the details below for the base Gargoyle:

Dual-Owned Bouncers – Free the Gargoyle Together!

Gargoyles are introducing a brand-new gameplay mechanic to Munzee: dual-owned bouncers! This exciting feature can only be unlocked when a Gargoyle has one of its special enchanted skins equipped. These magical skins awaken the Gargoyle’s true nature and allow it to be freed from stone… with a little help from the community. Let’s break down how it works using the Axol-Goyle skin as an example.

When the Axol-Goyle skin is equipped, the Gargoyle will begin bouncing around the map in its Stone Axol-Goyle form. Like Dragon Trainer Specials, each capture brings it closer to breaking free. After a certain number of captures, players may start spotting a Cracking Axol-Goyle on the map. This visual change is your cue that something special is about to happen — if you see a cracking gargoyle, grab it!

When a Cracking Axol-Goyle is captured, the Gargoyle is finally freed! At that moment, a Freed Axol-Goyle is deployed on the map. This new bouncer is co-owned by both the original Gargoyle owner and the player who freed it. While the Freed Axol-Goyle bounces around, both co-owners will earn CapOn points, making it a shared victory and a brand-new way to collaborate with other players.

The magic does not stop there. After the Freed Axol-Goyle has been captured a certain number of times, it will return to its stone form to recharge, and the cycle begins anew. The original Axol-Goyle is returned to the map, ready to continue its journey and be freed once again.

Keep your streak alive, earn those enchanted skins, and keep an eye on the map — you never know when a Gargoyle will be ready to break free!

How to Change Skins

The process is the same as it has been for the past few years, so we won’t take up your time with the instructions! However, if you are a little rusty — or if perhaps, you’re a new player(!) — you can refer to our Help Guide article HERE!

Badges

Gargoyles have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned Gargoyle!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more gargoyles you deploy, the merrier!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many Gargoyles as you can find!

You can see the first of each badge line below, except for the Overall deploy badge line — we’ll reveal that next month!

If you complete the capture streaks for each month (and make the initial purchase in January) you’ll have 12 different skins to choose from! So be sure to purchase one each month so you can have a complete set of these carefully cracked open Gargoyles!

Let’s get ready to have some fun in 2026! Welcome back the Premium tPOB, the Doge Pup! This month Level 3 and above is only for premium members with a deploy of the Doge Pup through the premium tab in the redeem store.

If you are not yet a premium member we hope you will consider supporting the game through a premium membership. This is available via monthly or yearly subscription directly in the app, or a yearly purchase online. If you purchase through the app a 7 day free trial begins, and your status will not be updated until the end of that trial period.

Your Clan can earn monthly badges by reaching certain levels in Clan Wars. But remember, you only get a badge (and rewards) if the whole clan reaches that level. In January, there are six badges up for grabs. Here’s a sneak peek at the Level 4 badge:

*The Doge Pup tPOB will be available to claim as a special trade in the Premium section of the redeem store beginning January 3rd. Cost will be 0 zeds (that’s right, ZERO zeds). The Doge Pup will be auto-deployed on your account when redeemed.

🍄 Final MunzShrooms Blog! 🧑‍🍳

As the year comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into January with your desired MunzShrooms! The skin for completing your December capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Trufflemaker MunzShroom shown below, will be awarded in early January. But, we couldn’t wait to tease what’s in store for next year!

December MunzShroom Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a base MunzShroom yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $1. But keep in mind they will all expire on Feb 1, 2026, unless you have collected enough to keep a permanent one into the new year! Read on below to find out more!

As a reminder, this is how to have a permanent MunzShroom on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 MunzShrooms by the end of the year.
    • Each month, the price of a MunzShroom will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 MunzShroom every 28 days.

Permanent MunzShroom Details

In February 2026, if you meet the requirement to receive a permanent MunzShroom, you’ll see the new MunzShroom in your account, which behaves the same way as the original MunzShroom we released in January 2025. You will have the ability to convert this permanent MunzShroom into any of the skins you have earned in 2025.

NOTE: “February 2026” isn’t a typo — we’ve decided to let MunzShrooms from 2025 stay on the map for 1 extra month, so that players who earned the Trufflemaker MunzShroom skin but didn’t meet the requirement to have a permanent MunzShroom on their account could enjoy their reward for a month.

📍🌏 MaddyBee Memorial BVG 🐝💛

Today, we come together as a community for a reason that is both heartbreaking and deeply important.

We are honoring Matilda, known in Munzee as MaddyBee, a young player who had just begun her Munzee journey alongside her father, BigMonya, about 100 days ago. What started as a fun way to walk, explore, and spend time together quickly became something meaningful. Shared moments, fresh air, and memories made side by side.

Tragically, Matilda was one of the innocent lives lost in the recent and devastating attack at Bondi Beach in Australia. She was only 10 years old and far too young. Her loss has been felt deeply by her family and by all of us who have heard her story.

The Munzee community is built on connection, kindness, and shared experiences, and we want to honor Matilda in a way that reflects those values.

🐝 A Bee Bouncing Virtual Garden for MaddyBee

With her family’s blessing, we are releasing a special MaddyBee Bouncing Virtual Garden in loving memory of Matilda. This BVG exists for one purpose. To memorialize Matilda and to bring the Munzee community together in support of her family. This Bee BVG will bounce for 10 weeks, in honor of Matilda being 10 years old. All proceeds from this Bouncing Virtual Garden will be donated directly to Matilda’s GoFundMe, and Munzee will match the total donation contributed by the community.

This will ensure it is somewhere meaningful to them, whether near Bondi Beach or another special place. This permanent garden will stand as a quiet reminder of Matilda’s light and the love shared through Munzee.
