June 2018 Missions and Night Vision Goggles Munzee

In an attempt to prepare for the oncoming war between the First Clan and The Rising Sons, ZeeOps scientists are researching the battle patterns of the Zodiac Vigilante. Utilizing Neurological Memory Technology we need you to relive your previous battles with the enemy.

It appears that while testing the Neurological Memory Technology to recreate past battles, someone has hacked the system. This must be the work of the Zodiac Vigilante, but be careful though, whoever is controlling this could recreate other past missions as well…

June 2018 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the new Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

Since this month is focused on Zodiac Munzees be sure to stock up on Zodiac credits in the online store.

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Repeat” badge.

This month’s Missions are as follows:

LEVEL 1:

Basic Training + – Earn at least 1,000 points.
Defensive Training– Deploy at least 10 munzees.
Offensive Training– Capture at least 25 munzees.
Seeing Stars I- Capture at least 15 Zodiac Munzees of any type. 
Seeing Stars II- Deploy at least 5 Zodiac Munzees of any type. 

LEVEL 2:

Memory Mishap- Capture at least 20 Zodiac Munzees of any type
Going Green- Capture at least 20 greenies and deploy at least 10 greenies.
Messy Memory- Deploy at least 15 Zodiac Munzees of any type.
Axe And You Shall Receive- Deploy at least 25 Clan Weapons of any kind.
Rise and Shine- Capture at least 12 and deploy at least 8 Zodiac Munzees

LEVEL 3:

From The Outside In- Deploy at least 50 greenies.
Cryptic Copycat- Capture at least 25 Zodiac Munzees of any type.
Unlikely Light- Deploy at least 20 Zodiac Munzees of any type.
Put The ME In MEAN- Capture at least 20 and deploy at least 10 Greenies.
Shine The Light- Capture at least 18 and deploy at least 12 Zodiac Munzees

LEVEL 4: 

Year Of The Zodiac- Capture at least 5 Chinese Zodiac Munzees
Jumbling Jewels- Deploy at least 20 jewels of any type.
Rises In The East- Deploy at least 5 Chinese Zodiac Munzees
Intelligence Infiltration- Deploy at least 100 greenies.
Sets In The West- Capture at least 30 and deploy at least 20 Zodiac Munzees of any type. 

Completing Operations will give you some hard earned rewards as well.

NIGHT VISION GOGGLES MUNZEE

We’re also excited to announce a new reward exclusive to ZeeOps!

The Night Vision Goggles Munzee is a virtual Zeecret Weapon. Similar to Clan Weapons, this item can only be earned by completing ZeeOps Operations.

When captured the Night Vision Goggles Munzee  will “reveal” 3 new Infrared Virtual Munzees that will be deployed within 700 feet of the Goggles. You have to be within 100 ft to capture an Infrared Virtual and these Infrareds can only be seen by the person who capped the Goggles. Infrareds will disappear after two hours.

  • Goggles:
    • Deploy: 50
    • Capture: 25
    • CapOn: 25
  • Infrared Virtuals
    • Capture: 30 or 15 Points and a mini ZeeOp*

*The Mini ZeeOp will automatically start when you receive it. You can do normal Operations as well during this time and it will count toward both requirements.

New Towel Day Badges!

DON’T PANIC… It’s Towel Day!

Now as some of you may have noticed, there has been an error with the badge image for this event. The dreaded Error 42 screen has popped up on screens across the world. Well luckily just in time for the official Towel Day on May 25th, our developers have fixed the issue! Turns out someone gave them the wrong file. Simple mistake obviously.

So starting NOW you’ll notice that the Error 42 badge has been replaced with new artwork from guest artist Andy Cameron of WallaBee fame! We can’t take all the credit for this badge though. Well, we could, but that wouldn’t be very cool of us.

Don’t Panic- Capture one Towel Day Special.

We’re also excited to offer a new challenge for the weekend! We’ve released a new badge for capturing 42 Towel Day Specials. Why 42? Well it’s the Ultimate Answer to Life, The Universe and Everything, of course. What was the Ultimate Question to Life, The Universe and Everything? Well that’s a question for another time.

These badges are retroactive, so if you’ve already captured 1-42 Towel Day Specials you will have earned both badges. Also please note that both the Towel Day Specials and the Hitchhiker Special scatters will count toward the badge.

Admittedly the first line of Prize Wheel badges were maybe a bit TOO easy to beat so we’ve stepped up the requirements for these new ones substantially! These badges continue to show off some of the prizes you might get playing carnival games.

New Prize Wheel badges are now live to earn and they are retroactive. Help out your fellow players and deploy a few Prize Wheels too! We’ve put Prize Wheel 5 packs back on sale for $17.50 (regularly $25). These will be on sale until Monday at 10:00 MHQ time, so don’t waste any time.

Cirque Du Munz Birthday Events!

Come one, come all, for Zee Greatest Show on Earth! Welcome to Cirque Du Munz!

For Munzee’s seventh birthday we’ve decided to run off to the circus! Come join us under the big top for the entire month of July. We’ll have specials, spectacles, and surprises of all sorts. Towel Day 2018 Specials

DON’T PANIC.

We’ve got a new special in celebration of the fandom holiday Towel Day! On May 25th each year fans of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” series carry towels in remembrance of author Douglas Adam’s work. Why towels you may ask? Well in Adam’s own words “A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value… More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value.”

Since we like to celebrate things a bit early, starting May 18th at 00:01 MHQ time 1,979 Munzee Towel Day Specials will be on the map until May 27th at 23:59 on . These specials will bounce on greenies every six hours or when capped. As we all know, a towel with a “Thumbs Up” is the universal symbol for intergalactic hitchhikers, so when you cap a Munzee Towel Special three Hitchhiker Specials will be scattered to greenies within a 1/2 mile for 2 hours or when capped. Better pick up those hitchhikers before somebody like a Vogon or a pair of mice does. That would be unfortunate.

Points: 

Towel Day Special:
Capture/Cap-On: Split of 42 with minimum of 5.

Hitchhiker Special:
Capture: 21
Cap-On: 21

You’ll earn a badge for capturing one of the Towel Day Specials, but we’re going to keep the artwork a surprise because it’s THAT COOL. How cool? So cool that it will definitely live up to the hype. What could possibly go wrong with hyping up artwork that has certainly already been completed?

Towel Day Specials will be attracted to Munzee Magnets so be sure to stock up on those in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

You CAN capture these specials on your own greenies and both Specials will count toward the Specials Hunter badges as well.

UK Events Reminder

Howdy, everyone!

We just wanted to remind you that Rob and Louise will be attending two events this weekend in the UK (this one and this one)! They will also be taking a trip to cap the newest Emerald Garden in Richmond Park on Friday. There are still plenty of Emerald Pins available in the Freeze Tag Online Store and time to get one before they get capped!

There is also a growing number of Flat Lous in the area, so make sure to add your own. Flat Robs and Flat Lous are both currently active on the map and Flat Matt will be active on Saturday!

Player of the Week: Becky Forsythe (rgforsythe)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Becky Forsythe (rgforsythe).

Who are you?
My player name is rgforsythe. My real name is Becky Forsythe.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Battle Ground, Washington USA.

How long have you played Munzee?
My sister downloaded the app on my phone in January 2013 because she was playing, but he phone went dead. In the process, she made me an account, but I didn’t start playing for nearly two years. I stated playing January 13, 2015. I think my cap streak goes from that day, also. I get hooked so easily.

How did you find Munzee?
I injured my Achilles tendon and couldn’t do anything but sit around, so I started cleaning up my phone and saw the app that my sister had downloaded nearly two years earlier. I opened it and started capping things. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, and of course it was on my sister and brother-in-law’s account, so I immediately got them banned for playing on two devices that were 4,000 miles apart. Once we got everything straightened out, I started to play. It took a long time for my leg to heal, so walking short distances to cap was a perfect recovery and gave me a reward when I actually found a munzee to cap. It is much better now.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I like hand capping because that way I continue to walk with purpose. If I have time, I will even hand cap a virtual garden just because I like to. Other things I like a whole lot are the new people I have met from around the world and the good times I spend with family and friends on Munzee expeditions. I recently got to attend a Go Green Event in Budapest, Hungary. Everyone there was so great, and it really didn’t matter that I didn’t speak an Hungarian. Players helped anyway they could — some by pointing, other by speaking English to us. I also like that the game moves at a god pace and that it keeps changing and growing.

What is on your wish list?
I would like to see a way to help long-time players feel like they can still play in Clan Wars without traveling. It seems like more and more I hear long time players concerned about cap points because they have capped everything within 20 miles of their home. This month (April 2018) is great because of all of the recycles. And as long as I am wishing, I would also like to see an Emerald Garden in Delta Park, Portland, Oregon.

Tell us about yourself!
My husband (amadoreugen) and I play Munzee together. We are both very competitive people, so this has been a friendly source of rivalry for us both. We also love to travel and are fortunate to have played in over 25 countries. We have a lifestyle of long distance walking and have documented more distance than the distance around the world at the equator. We particularly enjoy one of our personal goals: to walk all of the National Trails of Great Britain. I think we have completed 8 so far, so we might run out of energy before we get done.

Other Hobbies Include:
Besides my love for walking, I love glass and beads. I have a tiny lampwork studio that doubles as a work shop for other jewelry component making, particularly glass fusing and metal work that I sell to local jewelry makers. Nothing valuable, but a nice creative outlet for me.

I own a small business selling ceramic beads that are imported from Kenya. This supports a project that was started by an amazing woman 40 years ago to provide salaried employment for women in Nairobi so they do not need to live in the slums any longer. The beads are beautiful, and I usually sell them at trade shows, but as any business person knows, I am always willing to sell to anyone at any time. I make custom jewelry orders for customers out of these beads too.

Any last words?
I want to thank the person who nominated me as Player of the Week and also all of the players for continuing to cap my deploys. I also want to thank the hard workers at MHQ for everything they do to make my day a little happier and a lot more fun. Please keep up the good work; you are all such creative thinkers. Jibby!

Announcing Rock, Paper, Scissors Badges!

Rock. Paper. Scissors. SHOOT!

We’re excited to announce a new line of badges for capturing and deploying Rock, Paper, Scissors Munzees! As part of the gaming line, RPS Munzees actually include a mini game of Rock, Paper, Scissors which you can earn more points for winning. Since this is such a unique type of Munzee there’s a special third line of badges for winning games of RPS too!

We’ll just show the first of each badge line for now, but you can probably guess the themes for each:

Capture:

Paper Boy- Capture 10 Rock Paper Scissors Munzees

Deploy:

Rock vs Scissors- Deploy 1 Rock Paper Scissors Munzee

Winning:

Bronze Paper- Win 1 game of Rock Paper Scissors.

These badges won’t be easy to come by, but they are retroactive, so your past captures, deploys and wins will count toward these. The badges are now live and available to earn.

Help out your fellow players by deploying RPS stickers as well! For a limited time you can purchase 5 RPS Munzees for $3.50 (regularly $5) in the Munzee Online Store.

You can also pick up another gaming munzee on sale too. For a limited time Prize Wheel 5 packs are on sale for $17.50 (regularly $25). These are great if you still need to earn the Prize Wheels badges. Who knows, maybe that badge line will be extended in the future too…
