March 2021 GOTM Winners

March has certainly been a month of innovation! We kicked things off with the new Bee Evolutions in MunzPaks, followed soon after by Reseller Garden Gnomes! As socially-distanced events are starting to pick up again, we launched some new March into May Event options, which are perfect for adding the charm of Spring to the map!

Speaking of events, we had something to celebrate almost every week! First was real-life Lou’s #ChooseToChallenge campaign with limited-time Fancy Flat Lou scatters and badges! Next, part 1 of Roverhaul was delivered in our Jewel Day 2021 event. Currently our St. Patrick’s day event is underway, which saw the re-release of the Virtual Shamrock, new Greeting Cards, and ways to earn Zeds from Zee Folk and Leprechauns.

We are now happy to announce the winners of the March Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded in early April, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

March GOTM

It’s rare for a month to have 2 gardens which highlight our different releases so well — it just goes to show you that any design can have its time to shine, so don’t hesitate to let us know about completed gardens you enjoy! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Laidley Bee Love Garden, designed by BonnieB1, and the Lou [and Rob]-Feld Garden, designed by paupau, as our winning March GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

Laidley Bee Love by BonnieB1 in Queensland, Australia

BonnieB1 does it again with this sweet design! We especially love her use of Carnation and Field Evos!

While this garden was submitted in February since it was created with Valentine’s Day in mind, we wanted to save it for this month as it was the debut of our Bee Evolutions!

Lou [and Rob]-Feld by paupau in Bielefeld, Germany

It can be hard to make silhouettes recognizable, but paupau did a great job with Flat Lou’s shape, assisted with monochrome virtuals for her helmet and bike.

This winner was another no-brainer as it reminded us of the limited-time Fancy Flat Lou scatters, and the theme of women and their accomplishments overall.

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Send your nomination for GOTM to iloveyou@munzee.com! Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

February 2021 GOTM Winners

This month our Valentines Card Collectors Club took center stage! We hope you enjoyed seeing each day’s featured Greeting Card, capping our Assorted Chocolates and Mythical Bandaidz, making the most of all the double point days, and receiving a few extra goodies to deploy as well! On top of that, we also celebrated our good fortune in getting 6 more weeks of Fr057y, welcomed the adorable Hamilton Hamzee, and introduced a new type of credit — Jewel Shards! We are now happy to announce the winners of the February Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded in early March, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

February GOTM

Since we’ve got Valentines on the mind all month long, we just couldn’t resist the LOVE-ly appeal of these winners! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Secret Valentine Garden, designed by Jeffeth, and the Folk CrossBow Garden, designed by Neloras, as our winning February GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

Secret Valentine by Jeffeth in Ontario, Canada

A perfect secret message, as this garden will disappear from the map once you cap everything! (But isn’t that true for ALL gardens? Shhhhh)

Is it wrong to pick another ZeeOps-themed garden this month? We think not, especially if it complements our latest Secret ZeeOp, Operation: ZEEcret Admirer!

Folk CrossBow by Neloras in Bratislava, Slovakia

It might be hard to see against the grayish background of our web map, but the darker Joysticks guide your eye along the bowstrings!

We’ve received a few Crossbow-themed garden submissions in the past, but this one stood out due to its more complex design and increased variety of munzee types. Also, we felt it was fitting for February as it is our Special Delivery Cupid’s weapon of choice!

January 2021 GOTM Winners

January is always a very strange month, as we’re playing catch up after the longest break of the year, but also have new things to release! Some of the things we were able to catch up on were: releasing the Phantom Flats and additional Retiremyths, the yearly leaderboard badges, the 10 millionth munzee, and Winter Tree Scatters! Some of the new things we released were: Egyptian Zodiacs, Garden Gnomes, Secret ZeeOps, SleepZees, Hamilton Hamzee, Motivational Message Greeting Cards, and most recently, the VCCC!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the January Garden of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded in early February, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

January GOTM

The gardens we chose this month reflect this simultaneous old and new state! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Night Vision Agent NIVY Garden, designed by Rikitan, and the Charlotte Electric Lightbulb Garden, designed by MrsHB31, as our winning January GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

Night Vision Agent NIVY by Rikitan in Bratislava, Slovakia

Isn’t it clever how the Garden Places munzee was incorporated into the design?

The release of Secret ZeeOps and the Walkie Talkie Watch earlier this month made picking this garden a no brainer!

Rikitan shared his thoughts behind the design:

I fell in love with Zee Ops just in summer 2020, shortly before this side-game was paused for reconstruction.
Upon its return I was thrilled to see small daily challenges, which are easy and motivating to follow & keep going.
To celebrate this milestone, I created a small garden for all united agents of Bratislava, capital of Slovakia.

We’re also fans of how he went the extra mile in formatting the garden spreadsheet to fit the theme! We highly recommend that you check it out HERE!

Charlotte Electric Lightbulb by MrsHB31 in Charlotte, NC

Can you wish on a lightbulb? We hope that this new year is the start of a brighter future.

The Electric Mystery was released last year on March 18, 2020, right around the time things took a more serious turn. While it’s been almost a year since, we love how this garden features our (still) newest Elemental in a very fitting design! In addition, the nearby garden of Virtual Colors is well-placed and will make the most of the Charge scatters!

December 2020 GOTM Winners + The Future of POTM

This month was all about creating some Munzee Magic in the form of the Holiday Card Collectors Club and all the various Christmas Combat Specials!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the December Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for December Player of the Month (POTM), and let you know about our plans for the POTM program in the coming year! The badges for December GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early January, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

December GOTM

As we’re now fully into Christmas/Holiday mode, the gardens we’ve chosen certainly make the map feel a little bit merrier! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Xmas Knole Deer Garden, designed by Maattmoo, and the Queensland Koala Garden, designed by BonnieB1, as our winning December GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

Xmas Knole Deer by Maattmoo in Sevenoaks, United Kingdom

This garden looks like a slightly more grown-up version of our Baby Reindeer Christmas Critter!

Maattmoo shared his thoughts behind the design:

It started over a month ago when I found out about an event being held in the grounds of Knole Deer Park for Xmas and the event organiser was trying to build up the area a bit for the event.

I thought, wow what a great space for a new garden, so checked if they wanted to do a garden or if I would be able to do.
They agreed that I was free to do and it would be a great addition to the area and event.

So what design, well Knole Park is famous for its free roaming deer herds and being a Christmas event, a red nose deer felt like a perfect fit. Now over the last month with some social media persuasion and gentle coercion we have filled the garden complete and with a week to go to the event too.

The event Maattmoo wrote about was on the calendar HERE!

Queensland Koala by BonnieB1 in Queensland, Australia

We started the year with Aussie Animals, so we thought it would be a nice way to end the year too!

This garden was created for another event that took place on the same day as Maattmoo’s, but across the globe! You can find the A Queensland Christmas event on the calendar HERE!

December POTM

December’s POTM called for stories of Munzee acts of kindness. There’s still a bit of time left to earn this badge, so please send your stories to the Google Form at this link: https://forms.gle/JqF1LPaft6G6yeBAA

Thank you for sending in your stories! You can expect to see the badge in early January.

The Future of POTM

As the app has grown and changed we decided to re-evaluate the POTM program so it wouldn’t feel stale. So far, we’ve been alternating nomination-based months with requirement-based months. This was so that players could have fair and varied opportunities to earn the badges.

Our goal moving forward is still to feature and celebrate our players, but in a way that feels more organic and special. So although we will not be moving forward with the POTM program for the foreseeable future, we are still working out what new ways we can highlight our awesome players. Please look forward to more information in the coming months!

November 2020 GOTM Winners + December POTM Requirements!

This month has been a bit all over the place, but as it’s sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas, perhaps November was doomed from the start to be a strange transitional period.

For those looking forward to Christmas, we started off strong with the MunzPaks, which include the very popular Christmas Critters! We also featured a past Christmas Event in an amazingly detailed Event Spotlight by denali0407! Lastly, we released the Holiday Card Collectors Club, which seems to be well-received so far! We have some more things related to Christmas in the works, so be on the lookout!

For those who wish it was still Halloween, we released the popular Kill Them With Kindness Greeting Card and had a double points day to go along with it!

As for non-holiday related updates, we announced the results of our Zeecret Agent Competition, released 3 more nomads, and a much-requested new Places munzee, the Drink Depot!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the November Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for November Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for December POTM! The badges for November GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early December, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

November GOTM

As mentioned above, we’re caught between Halloween and Christmas, so the first garden we chose reflects this split. The second garden was chosen as it looks like the perfect Christmas gift for a young child! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Claire’s Candy Canes Garden, designed by Jeffeth, and the Teddy Bear Garden, designed by CoalCracker7, as our winning November GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Claire’s Candy Canes by Jeffeth in Ontario, Canada

We love the way Jeffeth expanded on the idea of Candy Cane gardens into other special days! Don’t forget that you can get a slightly larger Candy Cane garden deployed at your Christmas Event: https://dev.munzeeblog.com/get-your-christmas-greetings-done-early-with-this-new-card/

Jeffeth shared his thoughts behind the design:

A garden made for my wife, who always enjoys getting into the Christmas spirit early. 🙂

It was designed specifically as a November garden. The first candy cane represents veterans day/remembrance day held in November, the second has a lot of orange in reminder of Halloween which just passed, and the third shows the original candy cane and Christmas that is coming.

Also, such a unique use of a variety of different munzees showing there are so many ways to make the same thing.

Teddy Bear Garden by CoalCracker7 in Gettysburg, PA

What an adorable way to celebrate the birth of a new baby!

This garden was created for this year’s Teddy Bear’s Picnic event! The tummy was colored blue to celebrate the birth of former staff member Daniel Hammock’s son.

November POTM

November’s POTM requires the completion of 20 Daily ZeeOps Missions within the month. There’s still a bit of time left to earn this badge, so don’t fret if you are close!

Thank you for trying out the new Daily ZeeOps! You can expect to see the badge in early December. If you weren’t able to meet the requirements this time, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

We hope you enjoy what the updated ZeeOps program has to offer! To keep things fresh we’re planning to change up the missions and rewards in the future, so be on the lookout!

December POTM Requirements

This month’s POTM requirement was suggested by a player, and we thought it would be a great fit for the season of giving. We want to hear about Munzee acts of kindness! For December Player Of The Month we want you to send in stories about times your faith in humanity was restored (or perhaps you were the restorer of faith to someone else!) while playing Munzee. We know our player community is full of great people, so we’re expecting to receive a lot of submissions! Please send your stories to the Google Form at this link: https://forms.gle/JqF1LPaft6G6yeBAA

As in the previous months, this unique POTM badge is eligible for any player to earn regardless of previous wins. The badge will appear as follows:

We hope you’re excited for what December has in store!

October 30, 2020

October 2020 GOTM Winners + November POTM Requirements!

While September was the month of our worldwide Bash from the Past, we didn’t slow down for October at all! As hinted at with 2020’s Bash theme, this month was all about ZeeOps! On Day 1 we released a new badge line for Zeecret Weapons. A week later, we kicked off the Zeecret Agents Competition AND pushed out the Daily ZeeOps Update on the same day! While we’ve been actively monitoring the competition and making changes, we managed to add one more ZeeOps related release, in the form of new Nomads!

For fans of the color pink, we released a new Funfinity Stone, a new 20/20 Vision Munzee, and last but not least, Fancy Flat Lou!

As for seasonal-related releases, we had the Halloween Greeting Card, Deathly DeeZerts specials, and new options available for Christmas Events, including a 50-pack of Christmas Event Greeting Cards!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the October Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for October Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for November POTM! The badges for October GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early November, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

October GOTM

Both of the gardens chosen for this month made great use of the colors often associated with Halloween — orange, black, and purple — but used different Munzee types as their building blocks! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Jewels Note Garden, designed by Neloras, and the Berlin Bat – Berliner Fledermaus Garden, designed by 123xilef, as our winning October GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Jewels Note by Neloras in Bratislava, Slovakia

Perhaps the Jewels used to create this garden include a birthstone?

This garden was created in honor of Neloras’s girlfriend, who has a passion for music and singing! It was completed in just 20 days in time for his deadline of September (her birthday or their anniversary perhaps?). While we received this nomination a bit too late for last month’s GOTM, we are happy to honor it this month, especially since the colors are perfect for Halloween!

Berlin Bat – Berliner Fledermaus by 123xilef in Berlin, Germany

123xilef does it again! Will we see a new spooky garden this year?

This garden was created for last year’s Say Boo and Munzee on (Berlin) event! We think the gradient background, which is reminiscent of candy corn, really makes the garden pop!

October POTM

October’s POTM called for scary stories! Since there’s still a bit of time left to earn this badge, here are a few reminders:

  • We want you to send in stories about some spooky situations when playing Munzee.
  • We always want people to be safe when playing, so hopefully we can learn some lessons from your scary stories!
  • Please send your stories to the Google Form at this link: https://forms.gle/zLqoudpAqsgzCfyS8

Thank you to all who shared their stories with us! You can expect to see the badge in early November. If you didn’t have anything to share this time, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

We loved reading your scary Munzee stories! Some were spooky, some were icky, some were stressful — but we appreciate them all, and they offered a unique insight into what can go wrong when Munzee-ing On!

November POTM Requirements

As we just released Daily ZeeOps last month, we think this is the perfect opportunity to encourage everyone to try it. Simply complete 20 Daily ZeeOps Missions within the month of November to receive the badge!

As in the previous months, this unique POTM badge is eligible for any player to earn regardless of previous wins. The badge will appear as follows:

We hope you’re excited for what November has in store!

September 29, 2020

September 2020 GOTM Winners + October POTM Requirements!

Last year, we were planning to celebrate this year’s bash on Friday, September 25. Unfortunately, as you know, COVID-19 had other plans. Instead of the usual in-person events we traditionally enjoy, we had to seriously brainstorm how we’d handle it virtually this year. So far, we’ve released the Universal, specials commemorating past bash years with a complimentary and complementary Eventzee hunt, had a double points weekend, a 20% off sale, and as of yesterday, a Limited Edition Greeting Card. And there’s still more to come — just because the month is ending doesn’t mean the celebration will! We are now happy to announce the winners of the September Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for September Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for October POTM! The badges for September GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early October, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

September GOTM

As part of this year’s “Bash from the Past” theme we released a ZeeOps Transmission icon to signify the original announcement of ZeeOps at bash years ago. Some of you may have also noticed one of the badges from this special also teases some upcoming news! You’ll have to be patient for a little bit longer to find out what that TOP SECRET scrapbook means, but in the meantime we’re celebrating all things ZeeOps. So, we HAD to pick the Berlin- Capital of Spies as the first garden!

The second garden was chosen for its cool design and incorporation of virtual types that were featured in the past Double Points weekend. Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Berlin – Capital of spies Garden, designed by 123xilef, and the Somerville Specials Garden, designed by prmarks1391, as our winning September GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Berlin – Capital of spies by 123xilef in Berlin, Germany

This garden was absolutely perfect for this year’s bash theme!

This garden was first nominated last September, and we’re happy to have the perfect opportunity to recognize it! Of the Munzee-themed gardens, Myths and Flats are usually what players gravitate towards, so this ZeeOps garden definitely stood out!

Somerville Specials garden by prmarks1391 in Victoria, Australia

The shape of this garden is very original and eye-catching!

The contrast between the single-type gem-shaped sections and the multi-evo-type cross-shaped middle creates visual interest! This is a great example of using a variety of types without it looking too cluttered.

September POTM

September’s POTM called for capping 100 scatters! Since there’s still a bit of time left to earn this badge, here are a few reminders:

  • Scatters are the munzees that are generated after capturing a scattering munzee. For example, when you cap an Air Mystery, that triggers Feathers or Golden Feathers to appear on the map for you to capture. Feathers and Golden Feathers are scatters.
  • If you need help finding scattering munzees near you, remember that we have quite a few different types that scatter — here’s a list, with links to the corresponding Help Guide articles:

Congratulations to all who were able to meet the requirements! You can expect to see the badge in early October. If you weren’t able to meet the requirements this time, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for showing some love to scatters this month! We enjoy the variety and different functions each have in the game, and hope you do too!

October POTM Requirements

Ever have a close call capping? Get spooked by a curious stranger when deploying? We want to hear your Munzee scary stories! For October Player Of The Month we want you to send in stories about some spooky situations when playing Munzee. We always want people to be safe when playing, so hopefully we can learn some lessons from your scary stories! Please send your stories to the Google Form at this link: https://forms.gle/zLqoudpAqsgzCfyS8

August 2020 GOTM Winners + September POTM Requirements!

August saw the conclusion of the Camp Competition, with Camp FrEEZ emerging as the winner! However, all teams walked away with some useful prizes, including those of the Premium variety! New releases for the month include the Camp Critters, the Camp Munzee Greeting Card, and the Aphrodite Modern Myth, among others. Lastly, we also pushed out several updates, which included a NEW Tutorials area! We are now happy to announce the winners of the August Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for August Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for September POTM! The badges for August GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early September, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

August GOTM

This time last year, we released the She Said YES munzees to mark a very special occasion… so the first garden below caught our eye! Then we picked out another garden to match! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the FLAT-O-FANT Garden, designed by volki2000, and the A Giraffe Visits Gadsden, AL Garden, designed by Dinklebergh, as our winning August GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

FLAT-O-FANT by volki2000 in Karlsruhe, Germany

Flat Matt’s notorious bad luck is the reason why he’s not included in this garden!

This cute cartoon-style elephant is constructed with lots of Flat Friend pins! We especially love the striking color combination of green Flat Robs and pink Flat Lous!

A Giraffe Visits Gadsden, AL by Dinklebergh in Gadsden, AL

Anyone think this giraffe resembles The Last Unicorn? Just me?

This rendering of a giraffe head is spot-on! Most of us just think of the yellow fur and brown spots, but the addition of the pink ears and blue eyes keeps the garden from looking too duochromatic.

August POTM

August’s POTM called for nominations for players who have not been playing Munzee for long, but whose mastery of the game is increasing by leaps and bounds, or is otherwise a great addition to the community! There’s still time to send in your nominations — please fill out this Google Form for every user you’d like to nominate: https://forms.gle/o1SQfMHv93w2v8WL9 Separate nominations for each user makes it easier for us to award the badges!

Congratulations to all the nominees! You can expect to see the badge in early September. If you weren’t nominated this time, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for sharing your picks for Camp Munzee Campers! We loved reading about all the new players who’ve discovered the joys of our app, and have given new life to Munzee communities big and small all around the world!

September POTM Requirements

This month, we wanted to put the spotlight on scatters! Simply cap 100 scatters and you’ll have met the requirements to earn the badge! To clarify, scatters are the munzees that are generated after capturing a scattering munzee. For example, when you cap an Air Mystery, that triggers Feathers or Golden Feathers to appear on the map for you to capture. Feathers and Golden Feathers are scatters.

If you need help finding scattering munzees near you, remember that we have quite a few different types that scatter — here’s a list, with links to the corresponding Help Guide articles:

As in the previous months, this unique POTM badge is eligible for any player to earn regardless of previous wins. The badge will appear as follows:

We hope you’re excited for what September has in store!

July 2020 GOTM Winners + August POTM Requirements!

This month we’ve been going whole hog with our Camp Munzee Birthday Celebration! So far we’ve been seeing great progress made by all camps, though Camp FrEEZ is looking like the one to beat! We also celebrated National Hammock Day and released some new Myth Variant capture badges earlier in the month! We are now happy to announce the winners of the July Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for July Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for August POTM! The badges for July GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early August, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

July GOTM

When choosing July GOTM, we tried to choose gardens that fit our summer camp theme! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Jeeper’s Jeep Garden, designed by gargoyle18, and Ladybug Garden, designed by Laczy76, as our winning July GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Jeeper’s Jeep by gargoyle18 in Clinton, NJ

Do you own a jeep? Is it your vehicle of choice when heading to a newly-deployed munzee?

A jeep is a vehicle for adventures! Whether it be camping, going on safari, or a humble road trip, its rugged design can handle rough roads and all sorts of weather well!

Ladybug Garden by Laczy76 in Komárno, Slovakia

The bright colors are striking (and not an indicator of poison, thankfully) and they don’t have too many legs, eyes, or other features that put the “creepy” in “creepy crawlie”!

Most bugs are pretty polarizing — you either feel grossed out or are fascinated by them! However, the ladybug is one of the lucky few that is appreciated by most (if not all) due to its cute appearance.

August POTM Requirements

June 2020 GOTM Winners + July POTM Requirements!

June is officially the start of summer here at MHQ, so since a lot of us aren’t able to enjoy the usual beach outing we decided to bring the beach to you instead!

Swimming Into Summer Recap

We kicked off the month with new Turtle and Jellyfish Evolutions which were a hit due to their unique characteristics! World Oceans Day was celebrated with a new limited edition Greeting Card and a special water-focused ZEE-Dayz. Aquatic Baby Animals followed soon after, with some new badges to earn! The following week, we met the first Modern Myth, Poseidon, who seemed to attract a few admirers thanks to his fit physique! World Sushi Day specials took over where the Aquatic Baby Animals left off, because what’s the beach without some delicious seafood? Lastly, the release of the Akvamariin stone rounded out all the themed releases for the month. There were many other fun releases in June that did not fit the theme as well, the most notable of which were the Trojan Unicorn badges!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the June Garden of the Month (GOTM), give one last reminder for June Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for July POTM! The badges for June GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early July, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

June GOTM

When choosing June GOTM, we HAD to pick these two as they perfectly fit with our beach/ocean theme this month! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Seashell Garden, designed by dt07751 & hunniees, and Goldfish Garden, designed by szegedi, as our winning June GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Seashell Garden by dt07751 & hunniees in Gibsonton, FL

Gibsonton is famous for having colorful carnival employees as residents. However, it also has some beautiful beaches!

We’re not experts on seashells, but this garden likely depicts some type of tulip shell due to its pink color and the way it spirals to a point. They are the shell of choice for hermit crabs. Only the creators know for sure though!

Goldfish Garden by szegedi in Szeged, Hungary

The Holt-Maros river is the perfect border for this garden — many enjoy taking walks along it due to the beautiful scenery.

We love the HUGE smile on this cute little guy — wouldn’t you love to have him as a pet? We think he’d be best friends with Flounder from Disney’s The Little Mermaid!

June POTM

June’s POTM called for at least 1 Places Munzee capture for each day in the month. We enjoyed looking through photos attached to Places Munzees and choosing our favorites for the weekend reminders — we’ve got some seriously talented photographers in our player group! Here are the links to those reminders if you missed them (with some comments from the lucky players who’ve visited those Places): Reminder 1, Reminder 2, Reminder 3

Congratulations to all the players who were able to meet the requirement! You can expect to see the badge in early July. If you were not able to, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for showing Places Munzees some love this month! We hope that you found them convenient during this time of social distancing!

July POTM Requirements

For our 9th birthday we’re going to Camp Munzee and we’re looking for camp counselors! As we all know, the kids who have been at camp the longest know all there is to know about Munzee, so help us celebrate them!

Do you know an Early Bird or a Trail Blazer? Send us your nominations for POTM based on players who have been involved with Munzee for a number of years and why you think they’d be a perfect camp counselor! Please fill out this Google Form for every user you’d like to nominate: https://forms.gle/8h6sUqqX2inE5h4r9 Separate nominations for each user makes it easier for us to award the badges!
