Premium Munzee Point Update, Discounted Premium Memberships, and More!

We’re excited to announce that we have increased the points for Premium Munzees! Starting NOW the points for Capturing, Deploying and Cap-Ons for Premium Munzees has been increased to the following:

  • Deploy: 200
  • Capture: 50
  • CapOn: 50

Remember that you can only receive a Premium Munzee with the purchase of an annual Premium Membership.

We have also extended the Premium badge line as well. So if you have been a Premium Member since we started the program you’ll have the possibility to earn a few more badges. These badges (one for each year of renewal) are retroactive and you can earn them now! They are not actually earned based on number of years as a Premium Member, but instead by the number of Premium Munzees you have deployed. If you have Premium credits in your account, NOW is the time to get them deployed!

To celebrate we are having a Premium Membership sale! Starting NOW Premium Munzee Memberships will be 10% off in the Online store until Friday at 10:00 MHQ. To sweeten the pot, all Premium Members will receive a Golden Carrot Evolution Munzee credit on Friday at 10:00 MHQ. Golden Carrots will also see a point increase at that time.

MH-BOO Bash Packages!

Prepare for a scary good time! The 5th Annual MHQ Bash will be held Friday, October 26th through Sunday, October 28th, 2018. Since we’re so close to Halloween, it only makes sense that this year’s theme would be MH-BOO Bash!

There will be a wide variety of specials and badges to earn at each event, not to mention all of the munzees to capture in the McKinney area!

World Heritage Munzees!

Following the release of the Florida and California Historic Munzees, we thought it would be good to release some international Historic Munzees. We are happy to announce we have launched a new Munzee type for just that! The World Heritage Location Munzees will be deployed at culturally significant locations around the world at 00:01 MHQ Friday July, 27.

Similar to the Historical Location Munzees, the World Heritage Location Munzees are deployed by an MHQ account worldwide based on a database of historically significant attractions. This includes locations like the Grand Canyon National Park, the Taj Mahal, Sydney Opera House and more.

When captured, players will earn between 19 and 45 points. These virtual munzees are not blastable, so you’ll have to get out and learn a bit more about these unique locations! If you notice any that are deployed in the wrong location please contact support with the name/URL of the munzee and correct information.

There is not currently a line of badges for these since they will be so spread apart, but expect news regarding an overall Tourism badge line in the near future! As we have stated before, we plan to continue to expand this line of munzees into more states and different countries as well in the coming months.

New Places Munzees And Point Increase!

We’re happy to announce that we’ve extended the line of Places Munzees! Along with the current Places, we’ve added:

  • Hospital: to be placed at hospitals. Note that no animal hospitals or urgent care facilities will be accepted.
  • Post Office: to be placed at actual post offices, mailboxes will not be accepted.
  • Cemetery: to be placed at cemeteries, no funeral homes or crematoriums will be accepted.

Starting at 15:00 MHQ on Thursday July 26 the Hospital and Post Office Places Munzees will be for sale in the Freeze Tag Online Store. The Cemetery Places Munzees will first be released through the August Virtual MunzPak which will not be on sale until August 1 and then put on general sale September 1.

All of these new Places Munzees have a 1,000 ft capture radius, can be captured daily, but cannot be captured via Blasts. Reminder: Once submitted for deployment, Places Munzees must be verified by MHQ. Please allow up to 2 business days for approval before emailing support. You will receive an email with approval or rejection with a reason. Please see all details about Places Munzees in our help manual.

These new Places Munzees will be available for $10, and you can purchase one of each type per account every 30 days.

The release of these new Places will also include a point increase for all Places Munzees.

All current types of Places will be updated to:

  • Deploy- 40
  • Capture- 20
  • Cap On- 10

The point increase will be active starting at 15:00 MHQ on Thursday July 26.

Remember that all of these places Munzee’s will count toward the Places Munzee Capture and Streak badges as well so be sure to cap a Place every day!

Shiver Me Timbers- It’s The Siren AlternaMyth!

The water may be good for beating the heat, but things are starting to get a little icy. Beware the screeching of the Siren AlternaMyth Munzee!

As with the other AlternaMyths these Mythological Munzees are deployed on behalf of our HQ staff’s accounts, thus super rare. The Siren AlternaMyths will be deployed at 15:00 MHQ on 7/25.

As the AlternaMyth to the Mermaid Mythological Munzee the Siren is a sea-dwelling creature, but also one that is cold-blooded!  Sirens are attracted to greenies, Water Mystery Munzees and Ice Mystery Munzees.

We’re excited to announce that with the release of the Siren all other AlternaMyths will now be worth 500 capture points. This point change will also occur at 15:00 MHQ on 7/25.

The Siren can be a bit slippery, but you might be able to catch one with a Munzee Magnet! You can find Magnets, Elemental Munzees and more in the online store! 

Capturing a Siren will also count towards the Myth Collector badges so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for those ferocious fighters.

Speaking of badges, new achievements for capturing regular Mermaid Mythological Munzees will be available at 15:00 MHQ on 7/25. These badges work like other myth badges and they will be retroactive.

California Historic Location Munzees!

Hot on the trail of the release of the Florida Historic Munzees, we’re proud to announce that we have expanded that line to the golden state of California! Just in time for our FTHQ Birthday event, we’re excited for our great community of California players as well as any travelers that make it to the West Coast.

The CA Historical Location Munzees are deployed by an MHQ account throughout the state based on a database of historical markers. When captured, players will earn between 18 and 50 points. These virtual munzees are not blastable, so you’ll have to get out and learn a bit more about the golden state! If you notice any that are deployed in the wrong location please contact support with the name/URL of the munzee and correct information.

The CA Historic Location Munzees will hit the map at 00:01 MHQ Friday 7/20. You’ll be able to earn a new set of five badges for capturing CA Historical Location Munzees.

We plan to continue to expand this line of munzees into more states and different countries as well in the coming months. We are actively planning a worldwide line right now!

July Birthday Reminders

  • Flat Lou will be worth double points from 00:01 July 8 through 23:59 July 8 (just one day) as Louise races through the French Alps in L’Etape du Tour, an official stage of the Tour de France, several days in advance of the professional riders
  • Flat Lou & Flat Rob (Rob just added) will be worth double points from 00:01 July 29 through 23:59 July 29 (just one day) as they both participate in the Prudential Ride London 100 mile Bike Race

Clan Wars start July 3 at 00:01 — if you would like to join a clan for the first time or want to find a new clan you can use our Clan Randomizer button but it is only available from 00:01 July 1 through 23:59 July 2 so act fast!

The Global Goblet 😉 football tournament continues through the first half of the month. Our original favorite team, Germany, has already been eliminated. While our developer Daniel is sad, he’s happy to go ahead and program some other options to support our worldwide team. Guilherme is based in Portugal and we have Louise and Andy based in England. Rather than choosing one team, like we unwisely did the first time, we’ve chosen to support both. If both teams continue to advance the results will be cumulative on the given days.

Here’s what you can expect based on each countries path:

England has advanced to the Semifinals! 

  • If England advance to Quarterfinal quadruple points on greenies July 6 & 7
  • If England advance to Semifinal double points on ALL jewels July 10 & 11
  • If England advance to Final double points on ALL virtual munzees July 15

Portugal – Unfortunately Portugal has been eliminated.

  • If Portugal advance to Quarterfinal double points on RUMs July 6 & 7
  • If Portugal advance to Semifinal double points on ALL clan weapons July 10 & 11
  • If Portugal advance to Final double points on ALL physical munzees July 15

ALL ACTIVITY WILL BE IMPACTED, this means captures, deploys AND cap ons.

Worldwide Birthday Events begin July 1. Please check the calendar to see if any are taking place near you! Go Under The Sea With The Mermaid Mythological Munzee!

SURPRISE! The Vesi did a great job of helping us beat the sweltering summer heat, but we need just a little more aquatic assistance from our finned friend the Mermaid Mythological Munzee!

Unlike previous Myth releases, things work a little bit different with this maiden of the sea. A very limited number of Mermaids are available NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store. We mean VERY limited, so you might want to go buy one before reading the rest of this blog…

Well good thing we’ll be releasing more throughout the day! Check out the store at 10:00, 15:00 and 17:00 MHQ for additional waves of Mermaids to be released. Mermaid Mythological Munzees are $25.00 each and each player is limited to one (1) Mermaid Munzee per account. The sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership.

So you might be wondering- why the price increase? Well Mermaids have certain powers that other Myths (currently) don’t, making them much more valuable.

As the owner of a Mermaid Munzee you’ll have the ability to “nudge” the creature to a new munzee up to three times a day (MHQ 24 hour day). So say your Mermaid decides to swim to a munzee lost in the Bermuda Triangle? Just give her a nudge and she’ll bounce somewhere else in the world. The ability to nudge is only available for the owner via the webpage for the Mermaid, not available in app. The owner can “nudge” the Mermaid to have it bounce to another munzee ONLY in the first 6 hours at it’s current location.

The Mermaid also has a lot more character than your average Myth, so you’ll be able to rename your Mermaids to whatever you want! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize these gilled gals. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct and family friendly environment! 🙂

Like the Hydra, Mermaids are attracted to Greenies and Water Mystery Munzees, as well as physical Jewel Munzees.

The Mermaid will bounce on the following every 12 hours or when capped:

  • Greenies
  • Water Mystery Munzee
  • Diamond
  • Ruby
  • Pink Diamond
  • Topaz
  • Aquamarine

Mermaid Munzees will also be attracted to Magnets, which you can attach to Greenies to increase your odds of finding myths and specials.

Much like the release of Vesi, the Mermaid Munzee signals an increase for all other physical Mythological Munzee points. The Unicorn, Leprechaun, Yeti, Dragon, Faun, Hydra and Cyclops will all be worth 200 points when you cap them! Please note that these point changes are not retroactive, but the new points are currently in effect.

You’ll notice we are not updating the Pegasus (which lands on virtuals) at this time. This is a push to drive more points through the physical game. The Cyclops will also only be worth 200 points if capped on a physical.

Name: The Mermaid

Description: The Mermaid Munzee bounces on Greenies, Water Mystery Munzees, and all physical Jewel Munzees every 12 hours or when capped. Each is numbered and owned by a Munzee player. Only 1 Mermaid Munzee is allowed per account. You will also earn the Mermaid badge for owning a Mermaid Munzee.

Points:

  • Deploy: 250
  • Capture: 200
  • CapOn: 100

There is not currently a traditional line of badges for capturing unique Mermaid Munzees, but these will count toward the Myth Hunter badge line. Stay tuned for a line of badges similar to the other Myth Ranker badges soon.

International Yoga Day Specials!

Are you ready to reach ultimate Zenlightenment? We are pleased to announce new Specials in connection with International Yoga Day on June 21st!

Now although we may not be your run of the mill yogis, and “Zenlightenment” is totally a made up word, Munzee is proud to promote health initiatives that better your mind, body and spirit. So starting at 00:01 MHQ on Wednesday June 20th 1,728 yoga pose icons will be on the map until Sunday June 24th at 23:59 MHQ.

There are four different Yoga Pose specials that will be on the map. 432 of each type will bounce on greenies every 6 hours or when captured.

Points: 

  • Capture: 108
  • CapOn: 18

All four Yoga Pose specials will only land on greenies and will be attracted by Munzee Magnets. Each unique icon will count toward the Specials Hunters badge line as well. You can earn a badge for capturing one Yoga Pose special of any kind, but to reach true Zenlightenment you’ll have to capture at least one of each type.

Since you’ll be exercising your body by going out and capturing these specials, we also want to see you all take a moment to work on your mind and spirit.

Upload photos to social media practicing a yoga pose of any type for a chance to win Munzee Prizes! Simply take a photo performing the pose, then add the name of your pose, tag @Munzee and use #MunzeeMeditations and #YogaDay2018 to be eligible.

We’ll draw several names from each of our active social pages: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Winners will be drawn and announced next week!

The official theme for the 2018 International Yoga Day celebration, organized by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, is ‘Yoga for Peace.’ So in your Munzee Meditations think of peace, harmony and capping!
