Secret ZeeOps- Operation: Out Of Time (March 2022)

All caught up with Secret ZeeOps and looking for more? Here’s a new one available in the ZeeOps Hub for the usual cost of 1,500 Zeds. For now, it will be available for purchase until 23:59 MHQ on April 30. If you’ve purchased a Secret ZeeOp, you will be able to complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

Can you help us solve a DST-linked mystery? If you complete ALL the missions in Operation: Out Of Time, you’ll receive the snazzy badge below, along with the new M0TH3RB04RD and Father TiM3 Mechz (more info below!) and various other rewards listed in the app!

There are 5 levels. All levels have 3 missions each. Each level ends with more prizes.

We may share this information moving forward with other Operations but possibly not.

NEW Mech Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the M0TH3RB04RD and Father TiM3 are temporary POBs that will remain on the map until they have been captured 5 times. In addition, as a tPOB, upon capture you have the chance to earn 1 Sham Rock Credit.

You can find these parental units checking up on the landing pads above every 6 hours or when captured.

M0TH3RB04RDs and Father TiM3s will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture M0TH3RB04RDs and Father TiM3s on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same M0TH3RB04RD or Father TiM3 visits you. M0TH3RB04RDs and Father TiM3s are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access M0TH3RB04RDs and Father TiM3s by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When a M0TH3RB04RD is captured, it will scatter up to 3 C00K13S. Similarly, when a Father TiM3 is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Hourglasses.

These scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Mech owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

As with other Munzee Mechz, the badge for deploying the M0TH3RB04RD and Father TiM3 depicts the Blueprints, and are shown below:

There are also badges for capturing a M0TH3RB04RD and capturing a Father TiM3. Since there’s only one badge in these lines, we’ll keep them a secret for now.

This NEW Mech is for All Who Love Rock ‘n’ Roll!

In our first Sham Rock Credits post, we mentioned that another tab in the Redeem Store would appear later on. As planned, this tab contains items that will remain available through 02:30 MHQ on Sunday, April 3rd (the expiration date we had set for Sham Rock Credits) — so you don’t need to worry about them going away like the items in the [Sham Rocks (Week X)] tab (which swaps out on 12:00 MHQ every Thursday)! Currently there’s only one item in there right now, so here’s everything you need to know!

Sham Rock n Rolla Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the Sham Rock n Rolla is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 5 times. In addition, as a tPOB, upon capture you have the chance to earn 1 Sham Rock Credit. At 12:00 MHQ today, it was made available in the Redeem Store in the [Sham Rocks Surprise] tab for 25 SRC. If you decide to make the trade, a Sham Rock n Rolla will be automatically deployed on your account at once! You will also receive the Greenprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future.

Points You can find these charismatic cyborgs playing at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

When a Sham Rock n Rolla is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Blarney Beats.

NEW St. Patrick’s Day Skins – Another Source of SRC!

With a Leprechaun and a Balor Cyclops already in the game, you’d think we’d tire of making Irish-themed myths. Think again! The rich culture gives us a lot of inspiration to draw from, and since we’ve embraced it as the theme for this month, new skins were the logical next step!

Sham Rock Credits

You have the chance to earn 1 Sham Rock Credit upon capturing one of these skinned Myths. They don’t fall under the tPOB category, so we’ve added an entirely new source that you can earn SRC from! However, please note this will only apply in March. Once the month is over, you will no longer be able to earn SRC, as we stated in the original blog post.

NEW Specials for the Most Important Meal of the Day!

Last week we introduced the limited-time Sham Rock Credit, and promised to release new MOBs that are guaranteed to award them, so here they are! We were inspired by a certain marshmallow-y cereal, and the fact that National Cereal Day is today! Starting at 12:00 MHQ on March 7th, National Cereal Day specials will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on March 31st.

National Cereal Day Specials

We’ll be releasing the bowls in waves, but will end at a total of 500 Empty Blue Cereal Bowls and 500 Empty Yellow Cereal Bowls. They will bounce around on the map every 4 hours or when captured. You can find these empty vessels at the following munzees near you:

Both bowls will be worth 77 points and 1 – 3 Sham Rock Credits for the Capture and 33 points for the CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! Empty Blue Cereal Bowls will be attracted to Physical Magnets, while Empty Yellow Cereal Bowls will be attracted to Virtual Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

When you capture an Empty Blue Cereal Bowl, there is a chance that a Green Milk Carton will scatter nearby. Similarly, when you capture an Empty Yellow Cereal Bowl, there is a chance that a Pink Milk Carton will scatter nearby. These munzees will stay on the map for 30 minutes or when captured, and are worth 50 points.

Additionally, when you capture a Green Milk Carton, there is a chance that a Bone Bites Cereal Box or a Unicorn Puffs Cereal Box will scatter nearby! Similarly, when you capture a Pink Milk Carton, there is a chance that a Honeycomb Crunch Cereal Box or a Spearmint Bran Cereal Box will scatter nearby. Like the Milk Cartons, these munzees will stay on the map for 30 minutes or when captured, and are worth 50 points.

Lastly, when you capture a Cereal Box, there is a small chance that its matching Cereal Spoon will scatter nearby! These munzees will stay on the map for 30 minutes or when captured, and as they are quite rare, they are worth 150 points.

Badges

There will be eight badges to earn for these specials. Four are based on the total number of National Cereal Day specials you capture, but just how many captures it takes to earn all four badges will be kept a secret! The remaining four badges are based on capturing each of the different Cereal Spoons you see here. You can see the first badges in each line below:

Updates to the Daily Activity Tracker

At the end of January, we released an update featuring a new Daily Activity Tracker screen. We’ve always planned to include rewards for completing streaks up to certain days, so we’re happy to announce that that feature is in this latest update, along with some other improvements suggested by you, the players!

If you’re interested, check to see if you’ve received Build #857 over-the-air — to find out what version you are currently on, look at the bottom of the [Help & Info] –> [About Us] page inside the app. If you have not received the latest automatic update, please restart the app. It may take a few tries depending on your Wi-fi/data connection.

NEW Rewards!

As you can see in the screenshots below, we’ve updated the calendar on the Daily Activity Tracker so that some rewards are sprinkled throughout the month.

After Day 28, the cycle of prizes starts over again — so that’s why in the screenshots above, you can see a Zed icon again on March 31st.

There are a few important things to note:

  1. You MUST tap the green [Collect Reward] button in the bottom-right corner of the calendar on the day the reward is available for it to be added to your account. If it is not collected before the next MHQ day, the calendar will update and you will not be able to collect the reward.
  2. If your streak is broken at any point, it will cause the cycle to reset, and push back the rewards for all subsequent days accordingly.
  3. As noted in our previous DAT blog, it may take a minute to update your streak information after a capture or deploy is completed. This means that if you tap the [Collect Reward] button while your captures or deploys are still processing, you may see the text on the button change to “Verifying…” like in the screenshot on the right. If you see this, you can stay on the screen and wait for all the processing to complete, or just try again later.

Other Improvements

Many players requested that we add the ability to scroll the calendar back so they can more easily see their past progress. We’ve added a small arrow button to the top-left corner of the calendar so you can scroll back to the previous month, and similarly, a small arrow button to the top-right corner of the calendar to return to the current month.

NEW Limited-Time Credits are the Real Deal!

— UPDATE: As of 3/3/22 12:00 MHQ — The new tab in the Redeem Store is now live! Put those Sham Rocks to work!

You’ve heard of Candy Corn Credits and C04L Credits — now get ready for Sham Rock Credits!  After reviewing the activity on C04L Credits and making some improvements (we hope ?) we’ve created a new limited-time credit for you to earn and redeem!

Like Jewel Shards, Weapon Shards, and Cogs, you’ll be able to redeem Sham Rock Credits (SRC) at the Redeem Store for game pieces. However, similar to Candy Corn Credits and C04L Credits, they can only be redeemed until 02:30 MHQ on Sunday, April 3rd (when April Clan Wars starts).

How to Earn Sham Rock Credits

Sham Rock Credits can be earned from 00:01 MHQ on Tuesday, March 1st to 23:59 MHQ on Thursday, March 31st.

You can earn them the following ways:

  • Chance to earn 1 SRC upon capturing a tPOB
  • Chance to earn 1 SRC upon capturing a Destination
  • Chance to earn 1 SRC upon capturing Shamrocks (both Physical + Virtual)
  • Chance to earn 1 SRC upon capturing Emeralds
  • Chance to earn 1 SRC upon capturing a St. Patrick’s Day Greeting Card
    • Owners of these cards will also have a chance to receive SRC
  • Chance to earn 1 SRC upon capturing an Event Pin (excluding the Event Indicator Pin)
  • Chance to earn 3/4/5 SRC (dependent on type) upon opening a QRate
  • Guaranteed to earn 1 – 3 SRC upon capturing certain MOBs we’ll release next week!
  • — UPDATE: As of 3/9/22 12:00 MHQ — Chance to earn 1 SRC upon capturing a St. Patrick’s Day skinned Myth.

Goodies You Can Get With Sham Rock Credits

Like the tabs for C04L Credits, you’ll only be able to redeem items in the “Week 1” tab during Week 1, after which, only the “Week 2” tab will be visible until Week 3, and so on. March 2022 Skin: Lucky Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into March with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your February capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Valentines Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early March. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

February Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $11.

Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

Don’t forget that you’ll need to own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year to have a permanent one next year — so make sure to stock up soon if you’re a fan of these brightly-colored lawn decorations!

March Flamingo Details

What Flamingo Skin can you look forward to earning in March? The contrasting Lucky Garden Flamingo! Like the other flamingos, the Lucky Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to complete next month’s (March’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in April, you can change the skin on the flamingo to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

You can find these favored fowls riding the rainbow to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Lucky Garden Flamingo will scatter up to 3 NEW Fortune Feathers nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Flamingo Feathers, the Fortune Feathers will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These flamingo feather scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Flamingo Feathers are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

The Lucky Garden Flamingo will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Lucky Garden Flamingos on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Lucky Garden Flamingo visits you. Lucky Garden Flamingos are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Lucky Garden Flamingos by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

As a reminder, Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

February 2022 GOTM Winners

Even though February is only shorter than other months by 2 or 3 days, it feels like we’ve come to the final stretch of the month so quickly!

We kicked off the month with the release of the V-Mailboxes. As the National Hat Day specials finished their run, we launched the NEW Pizza My Heart specials a few days after. The next day brought a new set of mini-Mechz, the X & O Bots. The week after that, the V-Mailbox finally began its daily deliveries on Valentine’s Day. Reseller Flamingos made their debut the next day, followed by the first new Flat Object of the year, Flat Murray, the Friday after.

We are now happy to announce the winners of the February Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded by early March, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

Feburary GOTM

Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Purple Heart Park garden, designed by Spanol, and the Munzee Love garden, designed by Jeffeth, as our winning February GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

Purple Heart Park by Spanol in Tucson, AZ

While this garden is fairly small, we love that each diamond shape within the heart still has dimension, thanks to the different shades of Purple Virtual Colors and Amethysts. A simple but special garden!

Here’s a note from the player who designed this garden:

Located on the Southeast corner of Tucson, Arizona, the park is dedicated to the Purple Heart military decoration, awarded to men and women killed or injured during combat while members of the Armed Services. The Park also includes a dog area named after Ivan, a Tucson police dog lost in the line of duty.

In addition to this note, the spreadsheet for the garden includes a photo of a monument in the park that inspired the design. The monument consists of a brick wall with beautiful purple glass squares built into it, in the shape of a heart. We loved the story behind this garden and how it resembles the real-life landmark located there, so it safely secured a spot as one of the winners for this month!

It’s hard for us to resist Flat-themed gardens because they represent us in a way — not to mention how cute and timely the design is!

Here are some notes from the players who nominated this garden:

I love the simplicity and meaning of this garden, of course we all love Munzee, but this garden seems to celebrate the love for Flat Rob and Flat Lou, our King and Queen of Munzee.

This is the cutest Valentine’s garden that I’ve seen! It’s especially sweet because we all know Rob had the key to Lou’s heart! 🙂

We’ll still check the iloveyou@munzee.com inbox for stragglers, but please try to send your submissions to this new Google Form instead. Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!
