Another Update to Streaks

Last week, we did a quick announcement on our social media pages (FB|TWTR|IG) about a change we’d made regarding Universals and capture streaks. However, from that post we’ve received reports of additional inconsistencies from you, the players. So, in the interest of clarity and simplicity moving forward, we are making some more changes, which we’ll go into detail about below.

But before we get into all that, we’d like to put your mind at ease with some very important points:

  • The changes described below will be effective as of Tuesday, February 22nd.
  • The changes will only apply to activity moving forward from that date — so past streak progress will not be affected.
  • Streaks affected by the change we made on February 14th will be restored, to put everyone on equal footing for the upcoming update. However, that does not mean we’ve completely changed our minds about Universals, as you’ll see below.

Passive Activity

We’ve always stated in our blog posts that passive deploys, which are deploys automatically made by the app on your account, do not count for deploy streaks. A recent example of this are the Flamingo Feather scatters — the intent behind those is to increase the point potential for you, the deployer — not to count for streaks, since they required no action from you.

Similarly, we consider the tPOBs deployed as the final stage of Animal Evolutions and 2nd/3rd/nth Mech forms, such as the MUMM33, to be passive deploys, since the app automatically deploys these without you, the deployer, triggering them. However, it was brought to our attention that they have been counting for deploy streaks, which was never our intention. So, effective Feb 22nd, all such automatically deployed bouncers will no longer count towards deploy streaks.

Said another way, any deploy triggered by an action you’ve done will count. Of course, all the regular manual deploys you’d expect will count, but also deploys triggered by a purchase, as is often the case with any new Mechz we sell.

Location-less Game Pieces

The intent behind Socials, Personals, and Universals was to encourage Munzee players to socialize and build connections with others who share the same hobby. As it takes some effort to obtain and deploy these game pieces, they will count towards deploy streaks. However, if they are redeployed (especially in the case of Personals), the date that they count for will change, since the deploy on them can only count once. So, it’s best to not rely on them for deploy streaks.

On the other hand, captures of these pieces will not count towards capture streaks. As Socials and Universals are location-less, and Personals can be deployed up to 10 times a day, this makes the effort to capture them much lower than other game pieces.

We hope this post clears up any confusion regarding streaks, and that you are prepared for tomorrow’s update.

Now that we’re well into 2022, it’s just about time to release our first Flat Object of the year! With National Love Your Pet Day and National Walking the Dog Day coming up, it seemed like the perfect time for this next game piece to come into the spotlight. Expect to see lots of Munzee Merch in the store based on its design in the coming weeks!

The fifth Flat Object is brought to you by Wylie, our powerhouse Production Specialist! If you ever ordered physical products from the Freeze Tag Store, she has been involved in every step of the process in bringing that product to you! From designing to manufacturing to shipping, she can do it all! If you’ve attended any of the Munzee Events we’ve hosted in the past, you may have met Wylie, but for those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know her, or would like a refresher, you can check out her most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

Wylie’s Flat Object may actually be more accurately described as a Flat Pet — but as it follows the same structure as other Flat Objects, we’ll still call it one for consistency. Say hello to the Flat Murray, based on one of the great loves of Wylie’s life — her pet Corgi (sorry Dylan!). Like his mom and dad, Murray has a flair for fashion, so these pups (and the badges associated with them) will be dressed to the nines. Read on to learn more!

Reseller Garden Flamingos

Of course, we couldn’t leave our Resellers out of the yard decorating fun! We managed to prepare these a little earlier in the year than the Reseller Garden Gnomes, so we’re feeling a bit accomplished. Please welcome these very special Garden Flamingos themed around each Reseller’s shop!

Reseller Garden Flamingo Details

Like the other flamingos, Reseller Garden Flamingos are temporary POBs that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it. When you purchase a Garden Flamingo from a Reseller, you will receive the base Garden Flamingo with their respective flamingo skin already equipped. However, you can still swap out the skins just like the other Garden Flamingos — refer to our Help Guide article if you need a refresher!

You can find these international ambassadors traveling to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Gold Miner Garden Flamingo will land on all stages of the Treasure Chest Evolution.

Also like the other flamingos, up to 3 NEW Flamingo Feathers may be scattered nearby when they are captured!

The Flamingo Feathers will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These flamingo feather scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Flamingo Feathers are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

Reseller Garden Flamingos of ANY type will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Reseller Garden Flamingos on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Reseller Garden Flamingo visits you. Reseller Garden Flamingos are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Reseller Garden Flamingos by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up! You’ll also receive these upon purchasing a Reseller flamingo!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

Loveable Mini Mechz to Collect + NEW Badge Lines!

Can you believe there was a time when all you could use your Cogs on were Spyderbots? With the increasing popularity of Daily ZeeOps, we’ve tried to design new tPOBs to keep the map more varied and fun for everyone! This month, we’ve released new Mechz in the MunzPak and the V-Mailbox, but what if you just want a new Mech without all of the extras? We’ve got two Valentine-themed options for you… Please welcome X Bot and O Bot!

NEW Mech Details

X Bots and O Bots are temporary POBs that will remain on the map until they have been captured 5 times. The X Bot is available at the Freeze Tag Store HERE. The O Bot will be available in the In-App Store! When you purchase a X Bot or O Bot, you will receive a fully-built X Bot or O Bot that auto-deploys. You will also receive the Blueprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future. These Mechs will be available to purchase until 23:59 MHQ on Monday, February 28th.

Points

  • Deploy: 500
  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 100
  • Xhaust (5th Cap): 500

You can find these alphabetical androids making their mark at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

X Bots and O Bots will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture X Bots and O Bots on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same X Bot or O Bot visits you. X Bots and O Bots are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access X Bots and O Bots by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When an X Bot is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Heart ThRobots. Similarly, when an O Bot is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Rouge Bots.

These will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the X Bot or O Bot owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn rewards for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well. These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Heart ThRobots and Rouge Bots are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

Badges

Deploying an X Bot or an O Bot will earn you the corresponding Blueprint badge. You can see these badges below.

There is also a line of badges that you can earn for X Bot and O Bot captures! You can see the first badge in this line below.

Lastly, we’ve also created NEW badge lines for overall Mech captures and deploys. You can see the first badges in these lines below:

As these badge lines are retroactive, you may have already met the requirements for some of the badges, and should see them on your account soon! If not, please wait a few days as our system catches up with awarding these new badges to everyone who has earned them, before contacting support.

Pizza My Heart Specials for Food Lovers Everywhere!

While the V-Mailbox is sure to excite and amuse once it kicks off on Valentine’s Day, we wanted to give everyone something to chew on until then. Since today is National Pizza Day, creating specials celebrating one of our beloved foods was a no-brainer!

Pizza My Heart specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until March 6 at 23:59 MHQ. You can use the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters to more easily view them on the map. There are quite a few different specials, so check out a breakdown of each below!

Pizza My Heart Specials

These specials will be released in waves, ending at a total of 1,229 Pizza My Heart Specials available for capture on the map — that breaks down to 100 of each ingredient except for Pepperoni, of which there are only 29. Since Pepperoni were so popular in our latest React Poll, the demand means there’s less to go around. Pizza My Heart Specials are attracted to either Physical or Virtual Magnets depending on their type. None of these specials are blastable.

Badges

There are two lines of badges related to Pizza My Heart specials.

The first line is based on overall Pizza My Heart captures. These badges will give you all of the tools you need to run a successful pizzeria! The first badge in this line depicts a pizza box earned by capping any ingredient!

The second line of badges is based on capping different combinations of Pizza My Heart specials, similar to last year’s World Sushi Day specials. Make sure to cap at least one of each special so you can try each type of pizza!

The Valentines Card Collectors Club Returns!

December’s Sir Prize Santa was a fun experiment, but for this month we wanted to go back to the usual Card Collector Club/Mailbox template. If you were a fan of the Holiday Card Collectors Club, the Valentine Card Collectors Club, or the 10th Birthday Mailbox, you can expect a similar experience! We are excited to introduce the V-Mailbox, which you’re able to purchase starting NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

It is possible that we could update this information prior to February 14 and reserve the right to do so. We’ll make sure to announce any changes via our usual channels.

Mail Call!

Expect a surprise inside every day from Valentine’s Day to the end of the month! Since this period is only half a month (the same length as last year’s Valentines Mailbox) the price will be slightly lower, as you’ll see below! Like past Clubs/Mailboxes, members will receive virtual items only.

You’ll need a V-Mailbox Munzee to receive your VCCC goodies!

When you deploy this new game piece nearby it will only be visible to AND cappable by you. IT MUST BE DEPLOYED IN APP! To ensure that you are able to capture this new game piece each day, you’ll also be able to update its location if you’ll be traveling at any point during the mailbox period. You can only move the mailbox in app and do NOT need to undeploy first. We really don’t want you to miss out! It is very important you capture it each day.

The V-Mailbox is worth 100 deploy points! When it comes to captures, you’ll receive 10 points before February 14; during the mailbox period the points will vary. The mailbox can be captured up to 1000 feet away and is found under the Virtuals filter but ONLY visible to the OWNER. It will be archived after February 28th.

How the V-Mailbox Works

Starting February 14th at 00:01 MHQ, each day you cap your V-Mailbox you will be awarded a different Valentines-themed Greeting Card capture, similar to the past VCCC. Please note that you’ll only be able to earn that specific card on that day, so you really don’t want to miss a day. Once you cap that card you’ll earn points, and depending on which tier of Club Membership you purchase you may also get some extra prizes!

There are 3 tiers of Club Membership you can purchase HERE. As stated above, since the time period for this mailbox is the same as the past VCCC (though this one allows for half a month of extra caps before the actual mailbox period starts), the pricing is the same. You are only able to purchase ONE tier per player account.

  • Tier 1 is available for $5 and includes the NEW V-Mailbox, which will deliver 15 Greeting Card munzees for you to capture.
  • Tier 2 is available for $10 and includes everything in Tier 1 PLUS a matching V-Mailbox Card each day for you to deploy, maybe near a friend? That’s 15 new cards to deploy on top of the 15 you can cap! You’ll also get some special bonuses scattered throughout the mailbox period, which could be double points days, exclusive specials or scatters to cap, credits or undeployed munzees, etc.
  • Tier 3 is available for $15 and includes everything in Tier 2 (or better — some items in Tier 3 may be higher-value) PLUS all bonuses we have planned (some that Tier 2 will not have access to), AND a NEW Eros 404 Mech! The bonus rewards will be well worth joining this tier over the previous two. You can find out more about the Eros 404 Mech below!
    • NOTE – Now that February 14th has passed, the Eros 404 Mech is no longer attainable.

Once you’ve decided on a Tier, you can purchase it in the FT Store! Please make absolutely sure you’re satisfied with the Tier you select before purchasing, as we may not be able to change it. You may only join one tier. You will still be able to purchase these Club Memberships into February, but you won’t be able to earn rewards from the days that have passed. We suggest purchasing your Club Membership as soon as possible to start learning the mysteries of the mailbox and prepare for February fun!

Eros 404 Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, Eros 404 is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 5 times. If you are in Tier 3, you will receive a fully-built Eros 404 that will auto-deploy on 00:01 MHQ on February 14th. You will also receive the Blueprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future.

  • Heartbreak (5th Cap): 500

You can find these mischievous messengers flying to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Eros 404 will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Eros 404 on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Eros 404 visits you. Eros 404s are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Eros 404 by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When an Eros 404 is captured, it will scatter up to 3 L0V3 Bugs.

These will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Eros 404 owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn rewards for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well. These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for L0V3 Bugs are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 30 points

  • V-Mailbox deploy badge — deploying a V-Mailbox will earn you a special badge that you can see below.
  • V-Mailbox Card capture badges — capture at least 1 of each unique V-Mailbox card! We’ll keep what these look like a secret for now.
  • Eros 404 deploy badge — deploying an Eros 404 mech will earn you the corresponding Blueprint badge. We’ll keep what it looks like a secret for now.
  • Eros 404 + L0V3 Bug capture badges — capture as many Eros 404 mechs and L0V3 BUGs as you can find! We’ll keep what these look like a secret for now.

They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well. These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for TOAST33s are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

Badges

Deploying a BreadBot will earn you the corresponding Blueprint badge, which you can see below. There is also a badge that you can earn by capturing a BreadBot — but since there’s only one badge in this line, we’ll keep it a secret for now.

NEW In-App Daily Activity Tracker!

One of the first things you learn when you’re just getting into Munzee is that the most impressive accomplishments are related to streaks — meaning either capping, deploying, or both each day, for as long as you can! While capping each day can be difficult for those who live in munzee-sparse areas, and on the other side of the coin, deploying each day can be difficult for those who live in munzee-dense areas, the main difficulty most players have is making it part of their daily routine.

In the past, players have relied on simpler solutions, such as setting alarms on their devices, or more complex solutions, such as using third-party tools, to remind them to cap and/or deploy for the day. While there’s nothing wrong with using those solutions, we’ve always wanted to have a built-in option for you to use as well!

If you’re interested, check to see if you’ve received Build #834 over-the-air — to find out what version you are currently on, look at the bottom of the [Help & Info] –> [About Us] page inside the app. If you have not received the latest automatic update, please restart the app. It may take a few tries depending on your Wi-fi/data connection.

The Daily Activity Tracker allows you to view your captures and deploys for each day of the month to help track your streaks. It will appear before the map the first time the app is launched each day. Afterwards, you can access it by going to your Profile –> [Stats] –> [Daily Activity Tracker].

The Current and Highest Streak counters at the top track how many days in a row you have either captured or deployed a Munzee.

The calendar in the middle is the main attraction, but we’ll get into more detail on it below!

The Monthly Streak Challenge at the bottom features the unique Flamingo skin that can be earned by keeping up your activity streak each month. Make sure all of the boxes for the month are colored orange or green to qualify for the skin reward!

Colors on the calendar are color coded to help you quickly see which activity happened on which days:

  • If it’s flashing yellow, make sure to complete your activity for the day!
  • If you’re aiming for the Deploy Streak Badges, make sure all the boxes are orange!
  • If you’re aiming for the Capture Streak Badges, make sure all the boxes are green!
  • If you’re aiming for the Capture & Deploy Streak Badges, make sure all the boxes are split between orange and green!
  • Make sure to avoid any red missed days that will break your streaks!

Please note that it may take a minute to update your streak information after a capture or deploy is completed.

Premium Feature

Premium members can tap on a specific date to see a summary of the Munzees that were captured and/or deployed on that day. The tabs at the top will allow you to switch between the displays.

  • Please note that the caps/deploys listed will only show types that count towards streaks, so it won’t show caps of Socials or Universals, and it also won’t show passive deploys (such as deploys of Flamingo Feathers)

This should also make it easier to track down certain Munzees that need to be moved around, like Mailboxes.

Capture Mulligan Integration

If you break your capture streak, a Capture Mulligan icon will appear on the missed day if there is one available for you to use.

  • Note that it might not always appear on a red day. It’s possible that it may appear on an orange day if a capture was missed.
  • If the missed day is not visible on the calendar anymore because the next month has already started, you can always purchase the Capture Mulligans directly from the In-App Store

Tap on the icon to see which Capture Mulligan is offered: 1, 7, or 14 Day.

After purchasing, it will add a capture to the day that was missed and update your current streak counter at the top.
