Munzee Events in 2023!

We’ve almost had a full year of monthly Munzee events and it’s been brilliant to see you all getting back out there and meeting up again. Don’t forget to host and attend an event for the last couple of months of this year to unlock all the goodies available, more details on those to come very soon!

Monthly Event Packages

After so much wonderful feedback on the monthly event packages we are going to continue offering them for 2023, but with some changes:

There will be a new theme but the packages remain the same in price and contents. See the 2022 blog for those details.

For $50 you will get the following:

  • A Munzee Event Account and Event Indicator Pin
  • 50 Event Pins
  • No proximity restrictions (event pins still have to be 100 ft apart though)
  • 1 Electric Mystery + 5 Virtuals
  • 50 2023 Monthly Event Greeting Cards (same design every month)
  • Monthly Munzee Event 2023 Host badge (unique design every month)
  • Monthly Munzee Event 2023 Attendee badge (unique design every month)

There will again be the incentives to host and attend all 12 of the monthly events with badges, freebies and a new title. We’re really excited to reveal this year’s rewards and next year will be even bigger and better. Hosts will remember we gave a special gift during September for Player AppreZEEation month which was unannounced in advance.

Changes in 2023

We want to get back to players actually meeting up and events happening at a set time and place to help build our wonderful Munzee community. To this end events will be live for 24 hours from the chosen Go Live Time. This is quite different from the 7 days that we moved to during COVID times, but thankfully we are not living under the same social distancing restrictions any more.

We would like to incentivise hosts more, these are our key players in building the communities and we appreciate them so much. From January hosts will receive Munzee points relating to how many people attend their events. This will be 100 points for every capture of their Event Indicator pin. For example, with an event of 50 people the hosts will receive 5000 points.

Mega Events

We also want to help encourage some bigger Munzee events and will be introducing some Mega Munzee Monthly Event Packages. These will be perfect for big events that span a weekend because you’ll get 4 event packages with badges and icons and the price point will be lower than booking it all individually. There will be special badges available for these events and they will show differently on the calendar and map. We will be showcasing and supporting these events so please get in touch with Louise at events@munzee.com to discuss this if you’d like to host a Mega event.

A few events we’re already aware of: Munzee Mecca in Florida January 13-15. Not yet on the calendar is the long-running annual Munzee Madness in California each March, and the annual Munzee Mania in Minnesota each May. We know there is a growing community across the UK and would love to see something like this happen there.  Will we see the large events in and around Germany back in 2023? What other areas of Europe, Asia and Australia are ready to add your name to the list of MEGA events in 2023?

Flat DHS Scatters Return for World TV Day!

We’re enjoying the retro vibes that the Jukebox specials have brought to the Munzee world, so naturally our minds turned to another retro-inspired gamepiece — the Flat DHS! Looking at the calendar, we noticed that another perfect day to feature it was coming up: World TV Day on Monday! So, we’re bringing back the Flat DHS scatters for a short time!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Saturday, November 19th at 00:01 MHQ through Monday, November 21st at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat DHS, up to 3 Tapes may be scattered nearby!

As before, the Tapes will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat DHS owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These tape scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Tapes are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

We’ve created 1 new badge for this special period. In addition, if you missed out on the badges from last year’s event, you’ll be able to earn them as well. You can see what these badges look like below. Make sure you cap as many Tapes as you can to receive all 3 badges!

Please note that the badges from earlier in the year will not be available to earn again, as they were specific to National VCR Day.

DHS Discount!

Need more Flat DHS’s near you? We’ve got a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” discount you can use at the Freeze Tag Store! Secret ZeeOps- Operation: Turkey Trample (November 2022)

All caught up with Secret ZeeOps and looking for more? Here’s a new one available in the ZeeOps Hub for the usual cost of 1,500 Zeds. For now, it will be available for purchase until 23:59 MHQ on December 31. If you’ve purchased a Secret ZeeOp, you will be able to complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

This year, our analysts have noticed increasingly aggressive behavior from various avian species. While it could just be a result of harsh weather conditions and poor handling, there have been too many incidents for us to just brush it aside. If you complete ALL the missions in Operation: Turkey Trample, you’ll receive the snazzy badge below, along with the TurKEY Mech (more info below!) and various other rewards listed in the app!

There are 3 levels. Level 1 has 3 missions, Level 2 has 5 missions, and Level 3 has 5 missions. Each level ends with more prizes.

We may share this information moving forward with other Operations but possibly not.

NEW Mech Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the TurKEY is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 15 times.

You can find these fierce fowls running to the landing pads above every 6 hours or when captured.

TurKEYs will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture TurKEYs on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same TurKEY visits you. TurKEYs are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access TurKEYs by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When a TurKEY is captured, it will scatter up to 3 TurKEYrings.

These scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Mech owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! Own Your Thriftiness This Christmas With Our NEW Mailbox!

For many of us, the past 3 years have been a challenge. Thankfully, it seems like things are (very slowly) getting better, but if you’re feeling a bit “Bah, Humbug!” this Christmas, we totally understand. In fact, since misery loves company, we thought we could all be a bit Scrooge-y together! If you were a fan of the UnBirthday Card Collectors Club or Valentines Card Collectors Club, here’s another club you’re sure to love! We are excited to introduce the Merry Miser Mailbox, which you’re able to purchase starting NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

Like the past December mailboxes, expect a surprise inside every day from December 1 to December 31! Like the UBCCC, Club members will receive virtual items only.

Mail Call!

You’ll need a Merry Miser Mailbox Munzee to receive your goodies! While they’ll only arrive starting Dec 1 as mentioned above, you can cap the mailbox each day until then (helpful to keep streaks up!) as you can see below:

When you deploy this new game piece nearby it will only be visible to AND cappable by you. IT MUST BE DEPLOYED IN APP! You can only move the mailbox in app and do NOT need to undeploy first. We really don’t want you to miss out! It is very important you capture it each day.

The mailbox can be captured up to 1000 feet away and is found under the Virtuals filter but ONLY visible to the OWNER. It will be archived after December 31st.

How the Merry Miser Mailbox Works

Starting December 1st at 00:01 MHQ, each day you cap your Merry Miser Mailbox you will be awarded a different Merry Miser-themed Greeting Card capture, similar to the UBCCC. Please note that you’ll only be able to earn that specific card on that day, so you really don’t want to miss a day. Once you cap that card you’ll earn points, and you may also get some extra prizes!

Although this is a full-size Mailbox, we found the process went much smoother with just 1 tier last time. So, there is only 1 Club Membership you can purchase HERE. As stated above, you can deploy the Merry Miser Mailbox right away and get 15 days of extra caps before the actual mailbox period starts!

  • Merry Miser Card Collectors Club is available for $25 and includes the NEW Merry Miser Mailbox, which will deliver 31 Greeting Card munzees for you to capture PLUS a matching Merry Miser Card each day for you to deploy, maybe near a friend? That’s 31 new cards to deploy on top of the 31 you can cap! You’ll also get some special bonuses scattered throughout the mailbox period, which could be double points days, exclusive specials or scatters to cap, credits or undeployed munzees, etc. Lastly, you’ll also get a NEW SCREWge Mech!

If you’re interested, you can purchase it in the FT Store! You will still be able to purchase these Club Memberships into December, but you won’t be able to earn rewards from the days that have passed. We suggest purchasing your Club Membership as soon as possible to start learning the mysteries of the mailbox and prepare for December fun!

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the SCREWge is a temporary POB. The SCREWge will remain on the map until it has been captured 10 times, as you can see below. You will receive a fully-built SCREWge that will auto-deploy on 00:01 MHQ on December 1st. You will also receive the Blueprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future.

A Consolation Skin For the Unlucky

When developing the Jukebox specials, we wanted to mimic the real-life phenomenon of rickrolling (aka “Rick Rolling”) by giving the records a chance to change into the Rob AstZee – Never Gonna Give Lou Up record upon capture.

While we were sure that you’d find the joke hilarious at first, we were also concerned that after a certain point it would annoy rather than amuse. To thank you in advance for your patience, we created a special skin that is sure to be on everyone’s wishlist!

An Update to Places Munzees

We heard your feedback on proximity requirements for Places Munzees! Previously, ALL Places had to be at least 1 mile (= 5,280 ft = 1609.34 m) apart from other places of the same type. Meaning, a Faith Place had to be at least 1 mile away from any other Faith Place, and so on. We’ve now reduced that distance for certain Places as follows:

2,000 ft (609.6 m) Radius

2,500 ft (762 m) Radius

In light of this change, if you’d like to stock up on any of these Places, you can do so HERE! We’ve also reset the usual limit on purchasing Places, so if you were maxed out for the month, you don’t have to wait all the way until next month to treat yourself!

Celtic Zodiacs

The Celtic Zodiacs will work similarly to the Egyptian Zodiacs in that they will be worth double points when capped and deployed during specific times. Instead of being worth double points during certain days of the week or monthly periods, their time periods vary according to the Celtic annual cycle (00:01-23:59 MHQ time).

  • Celtic Wolf: October 28 – November 24
  • Celtic Falcon: November 25 – December 23
  • Celtic Stag: December 24 – January 20
  • Celtic Cat: January 21 – February 17
  • Celtic Adder: February 18 – March 17
  • Celtic Fox: March 18 – April 14
  • Celtic Bull: April 15 – May 12
  • Celtic Seahorse: May 13 – June 9
  • Celtic Wren: June 10 – July 7
  • Celtic Horse: July 8 – August 4
  • Celtic Salmon: August 5 – September 1
  • Celtic Swan: September 2 – 29
  • Celtic Butterfly: September 30 – October 27

We are beginning with the Celtic Wolf Zodiac and will release a new Celtic Zodiac every month through the Hybrid and Virtual MunzPak subscriptions. Each Celtic Zodiac Munzee is worth 40 points for Deploy, Capture, and CapOn. Those numbers double to 80 points during each Zodiacs’ specific time period. NOTE: to receive double points on deploys, they MUST be done in the app!

Wolf Celtic Zodiac

Similar to the Egyptian Zodiacs, when a Celtic Zodiac is captured 1-3 NEW Celtic Knots will be scattered nearby!

The Celtic Knots will be visible to ALL players, not just the player who capped the Celtic Zodiac, and will be deployed on the Celtic Zodiac owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers, there are CapOn points for the owner! These Celtic Knot scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Celtic Knots are as follows:

  • Capture: 40
  • CapOn: 20

November 2022 Skin: Gobbling Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into November with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your October capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Flaminghost shown below, will be awarded in early November. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

October Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $3.

How to have a permanent Flamingo on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year
    • Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

Where to stock up on Flamingos if you missed out on earlier months:

  • Reseller Garden Flamingos include the base Flamingo AND the special Reseller skin — if you’re interested, you can check out our blog post on them HERE!

What Flamingo Skin can you look forward to earning in November? The crafty Gobbling Garden Flamingo! Like the other flamingos, the Gobbling Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it.

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

November 2022 Clan Wars Requirements

Level 6 Remains   **REQUIREMENTS AND REWARDS UPDATED BELOW**

Last month we made some changes to make earlier levels easier for new players and smaller clans to achieve, while adding some more difficult challenges to higher levels for hardcore players to work towards! We will be continuing to make adjustments as we collect more data and feedback from you all! As such, we wanted to let you know that there will be a Level 6 released again this month, but the final requirements and rewards will not be revealed until November 1st. This will give us time to review the results of the previous battle and make any final updates before revealing them to you all. We appreciate your patience as we fine tune the difficulty here!

Exciting Update Coming Soon

We’re prepping a game changing update that should positively impact gameplay moving forward! Right now if you capture a bouncer sitting on a Munzee you haven’t captured before, it would only show that you captured that bouncer, even though it marks both the bouncer and landing pad as captured. This means you lose the opportunity to capture the landing pad as its own type. For example, if a Unicorn lands on a Shamrock you haven’t captured before, you only see a notification and get points for the Unicorn capture and the Shamrock disappears from the map. We’re going to fix that 🙂

Once this update is pushed live, if a Unicorn lands on a Shamrock you haven’t captured before, you can capture that Unicorn first! Then the Shamrock will remain on the map for you to capture separately. This should also be retroactive, so if there were any bouncers you had captured in the past that were sitting on types you hadn’t captured yet, they should reappear on the map for you to capture as its own type! This will also be applied to QRewzees and SleepZees, as well as scatters such as Charges from Electric Mysteries!

This update will be pushed live sometime on November 1st, which will allow us to monitor and make any updates before Clan Wars starts on November 3rd. If you’re lucky, you may notice some new types popping up near you to capture around then!

 

As usual, you’ll find the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. There have been a few issues with activity not counting for some players in the opening minutes of the clan war. Please be sure to give our servers a bit of time to switch from Clan Wars OFF to Clan Wars ON. 🙂 This will ease frustration, just 10 or 15 minutes will make all the difference. We’re happy everyone is so anxious to get started on the 3rd of each month! In addition: Please do not change your clan membership for at least 2 hours after the month ends. The calculations are still being made and it could ruin your efforts.

It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to November 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19.

November ClanPak

Last year, we introduced the ClanPak! While MunzPaks started as a product to aid in Clan Wars, they have transitioned over time. Sometimes you may need a few things to help meet Clan War Requirements, (i.e. magnets, QRowbars, etc.) and reach your goals.

There is a limit of one per player per product/month. You can purchase the November ClanPak HERE! This is NOT a subscription program.

Level 1

Individual

  • At least 5 days of activity
  • At least 5,000 total points
  • At least 5 Bouncer captures

Clan: in addition to the above individual requirements

  • At least 70,000 total points
  • At least 250 total captures
  • At least 15 total deploys
  • At least 75 Bouncer captures
  • At least 5 Zodiac caps/deploys
  • At least 20 Weapon caps/deploys
  • At least 25 Mystery cap/deploys
  • At least 60 Places captures
  • At least 400 Flat Friends/Objects points
  • At least 500 Greeting Card points
  • At least 1,000 Destination points

NOTE – Along with the update to allow for players to capture the bouncer and landing pad separately, you may notice a change to how credits are tallied for the Total Captures requirement. We discovered that it was incorrectly giving credit for 2 Total Captures each time 1 Bouncer was captured. Starting in November, capturing 1 Bouncer will only count for 1 Total Capture. If the landing pad hasn’t been captured before, then it can be captured separately afterwards, adding 1 Total Capture to the overall tally.

November Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. There will be a total of 6 badges available in November. The first badge will appear as follows:

Overall Clan Notes:

Please keep in mind Levels 4 & 5 are considered advanced gameplay and not recommended for brand new players. Level 6 especially is reserved for the elite hardcore players, not for the faint of heart! Be aware when allowing new players to join your clans. QRew/ZeeQRew status will be required for any clans earning levels 3, 4 & 5. See qualifications for ZeeQRew here. If you are not a member on November 1st you will not be able to qualify until November 15th. If you lose qualification before the 15th you will not be able to qualify until December 1st.

*Claimed QRates will not carry over from before the clan battle starts. The QRate must be found, opened, and claimed during the month of the current clan battle. This time period begins on the 3rd, same as the clan battle.

*All shards may be redeemed at https://www.munzee.com/redeem
Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.
Reseller caps/deploys include all types of RUM/vRUM/reseller card but NOT reseller gnomes or any scatters.
Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB).
Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social and Universal will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal and Universal will not count for Physical points of any sort.

Hints for how to play during Stay Home orders:
Use the swap feature for brand new virtual deploys.
Use the online map to deploy virtuals worldwide or find gardens to deploy in on social media groups.
Watch the online store for sales during the month to help meet your goals.
Use evolution reset credits to get new CapOn points from OLD deploys (they do NOT count as new deploys)

And finally, be responsible. If your local government, your health, or any circumstances require you to Stay Home – DO NOT participate. It is up to each of us to determine what is safe and what is allowed. This is a game and not worth risking your own live or the lives of others.

Flat Cat Scatters to Celebrate National Cat Day!

Whether you’re a cat person or not, there’s no denying that cats are the animals we associate most with spooky season — after all, they are the preferred pet of witches (especially black ones) — though owls, with their ominous hoots, are a close second (but aren’t they basically just cats with wings?). It’s even more fitting then, that National Cat Day is on October 29th, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have some fun with Mari’s Flat Cats!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Thursday, October 27th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, October 30th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture Flat Cats, up to 3 Cat Toys may be scattered nearby!

The Cat Toys will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Cats owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These Cat Toy scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Cat Toys are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points
