April 2020’s Resolution Can Be Done From The Comfort of Your Home!

It’s almost April, and while many of us are confined to our homes, that doesn’t mean our fitness has to suffer! As we announced in our January Resolutions blog, we will be launching monthly Capture Streak Badges centered on a year of being active. Each month’s badge will be dedicated to practicing a different exercise. Similar to how our Super Streak badges operate, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. This month’s badge may be tricky to get, but we believe in you!

Each month’s badge will be themed around the particular resolution goal. For April we thought that popular aerobic exercises would be a good way to maintain fitness, indoors or out! Time to rock those colorful sweatbands, arm warmers, leg warmers, and leotards!

Why are aerobic exercises important?

Aerobic exercises get your blood pumping! Good circulation is important as it means nutrients from the food you eat, the beverages you drink, and the air you breathe are more quickly delivered to your entire body, especially the extremities.

Healthline points out that, compared to exercises such as those featured in last month’s Resolution, “You perform aerobic exercises for a sustained period of time,” and additionally, “The American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes or more of aerobic exercise five or more days each week. That can be broken up, though. For example, you can take three, 10-minute walks throughout the day.” The article goes on to recommend 10 aerobic exercises you can try, but here’s our own (edited and slightly Munzee-fied) version of that list:

  1. Jumping to reach those QR codes that tall players stuck on signs
  2. Circuit of:
    1. Sasquatch Yeti Squats
    2. Leprechaun Lunges
    3. Pegasus Pushups
    4. Dragon Dips
    5. Tuli Twist
  3. Running or jogging to the nearest bouncer
  4. Walking the loop of Greenies and Elementals around your house
  5. Swimming with Mermaids and Sirens
  6. Biking and blasting
  7. Picking up each piece of litter you see one by one and tossing it into a trash can (bonus points if you had to chase after several tiny square sticker backings that got blown away by the wind)
  8. Kickboxing other Munzee players so that you can be FTC
  9. ZEEumba
  10. Cutting sheet after sheet of Munzee stickers into individual pieces

International Colour Day

According to the International School of Colour + Design, March 21st is International Colour Day because “around the equinox (aequi-equi+nox-night) the sun shines directly on the equator, and consequently, day and night have an approximate length all over the Earth.” As you know, how we perceive color is greatly affected by light sources — so if day and night are more similar for everyone around the world, the colors will appear more similarly to everyone as well!

To celebrate, we’ve got 2 new colorful things you might be interested in: a NEW badge and NEW generics available in the Freeze Tag Store!

NEW Badge

You can earn the [QR]ayon Box badge as of 10:00 MHQ today by capturing at least one of EVERY Virtual Munzee Color! Now before you start calling us out, we know Virtuals aren’t related to QR codes, but we couldn’t pass up the play on words!

NEW Generics

For players who enjoy the physical game, we have new colored strips of generics for sale in the Freeze Tag Store HERE!

The strips come with a sticker in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet. Each order will include two strips of 6 generics (12 stickers total) for $1.00. The codes are generic so the stickers can be shared with any player.

For now there is only a limited quantity available, so if you’ve gotten attached to them, snap them up ASAP! Depending on how popular these end up being we may restock them in the future!

Best Dressed Fall into Spring Events Contest Details!

With the first Fall into Spring events kicking off this weekend*, we can’t wait to see how players celebrate the change in season! Similar to last year’s 8zees Best Dressed Contest, the event host will choose a winner at each event based on best themed attire. Event attendees will have 2 of 3 outfit options:

  • if it’s Spring where the event is being held, consider dressing in a Spring-themed outfit, e.g. florals, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, etc.
  • likewise, if it’ll be Fall where the event is being held, consider dressing in a Fall-themed outfit, e.g. leaves, golden and jewel tones, in-season fruits and vegetables
  • if you’re game for a more challenging option, consider dressing as one of the Mythological Munzees, such as those that appear on the Fall into Spring Event Package badges, or take inspiration from our staff members below!

It’s the event hosts’ responsibility to decide which attendee will win the Best Dressed badge. In order to earn the special badge for winning this costume contest, the event host must submit an entry to our Google Form, which we will provide to each host. Unfortunately we will not be able to award any Best Dressed badges without a form submission, so be sure to get them in! You can see the artwork for the badge below!

Featuring another ethereal goddess, Trish, who is responsible for a lot of our event artwork! She and Louise are a dynamic Event Goddess duo!

We’ll share some of our favorite player outfits to the official Munzee social media pages throughout March and April, but the badge will not be awarded until after the events have wrapped up. Then we’ll add all of the winners to a gallery on the Munzee Blog to announce when the badge has been awarded!

Don’t forget there’s still time to purchase Fall into Spring Event Packages, but Trish’s diary is filling up so if you want custom artwork you better act fast! Remember that we’ve extended the period for Fall into Spring Events up to and including the month of May! Social DistanZEEing Bonuses

If you haven’t marked [I’m Going!]  on our Social DistanZEEing Global Munzee Event, fix that ASAP! We’ll be awarding goodies periodically, so you don’t want to miss out! Event Spotlight: Weston Super Munzees

While Munzee can certainly be a solo game if you choose, there’s no denying the appeal in meeting others who share your interests. Munzee Events are perhaps the best example of this, as they allow you to meet both old and new players in a safe, friendly environment. On top of that, there are usually activities, games, and — if you’re lucky — goodie bags! That being said, planning events requires a considerable amount of effort. So, to make it easier for prospective hosts (and maybe even recurring hosts), we decided to put the spotlight on past events, Munzee-Toolkit style! We hope this series of posts will inspire you to try hosting an event if you never have before, or provide you with ideas to spice up future events if you’re an old hand at it!

Today we’re featuring the Weston Super Munzees event, which took place on April 8, 2018 at The Old Colonial in Weston-Super-Mare, UK and was hosted by nuttynan, Lizeb, lankyspanky, and TheJenks7.

Give us a brief summary about your event!

I had just moved to Weston and wanted to grow the map as there were very few Munzees there. I concentrated on deploying Water, Prize Wheels and Flats clusters to encourage players to deploy and cap as well. The Flats deploys were particularly prolific as it was a double points weekend. These clusters enticed more and more players to attend. Plus I did a free prize draw for host places for all those who attended (I paid for the entire event myself). Although the Initial cost was quite a lot the subsequent deploys from players all over the world became the basis of the massive Munzee presence the Weston-Super-Mare now has.

What tips do you have when hosting an awesome event?

Build the map by doing clusters of certain types of physicals and virtuals so players can easily see what can be capped in big numbers. Also offering a prize draw for host places is always popular and brings more players to an event.

What made your event unique?

Seaside location with brand new deploys in huge clusters, so no one had capped them.

We are celebrating Weston’s links with helicopters history and chasing little helicopters around the streets beside the famous Helicopter Museum (NOT on the museum grounds or airfield).

March 2020 MunzPak Contents Revealed!

After a heart-thumping February, we’re excited to reveal the contents of March MunzPaks! There’s a little bit of everything this month, with a couple of newer products in the Hybrid and Virtual Paks. You can find a break down of each Pak below!

March 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost March! You’ll find all the details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. We’re keeping in mind that not all clans will have 10 members now and also making the competition more open amongst the levels. This month you’ll notice several types are required in the clan totals section. We’ve got some exciting renovations coming out very soon that may help in at least one of the categories!

Level 1

Individual

  • at least 7 days of activity
  • at least 50 total captures
  • at least 1000 total points
  • at least 1 bouncer capture

Clan: in addition to the above individual requirements

  • at least 7500 total points
  • at least 10 deploys
  • at least 1000 destination points
  • at least 5 places captures
  • at least 100 weapons points
  • at least 20 bouncer captures
  • at least 500 flat friends points (no Fancy flats)
  • at least 500 gaming points

March Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. Since there is NO Level X this month, there will be a total of 5 badges available in March. The first badge will appear as follows:

Novice Newbies: March 2020- Reached Level 1 in March 2020 Clan Wars

Overall Clan Notes:

Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB)

Physical points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for ALL Physical types.
Deploy points are for all types excluding Personals.
Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.

Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal will not count for Physical points of any sort. It is not a true physical munzee.

Leap Day Bouncers Will Have You Messing with the Timeline!

UPDATE: These specials have been extended to 10:00 MHQ on March 3rd.

Leap Day comes only once every four years, so this year we’re leaping throughout time to celebrate! We have three new specials featuring different time travelers, so get ready for a blast from the past! Those who play our sister game WallaBee may also recognize these designs from the Travels Through Time set from way back in 2013!

Read on to get all of the details, but then hurry up because these specials will only be available until 10:00 MHQ on Tuesday, March 3, 2020! 

H.Zee. Wells’ Time Machine Details

2,900 of H.Zee. Wells’ Time Machine will bounce to physical munzee types every 4 hours or when captured.

  • Greenies
  • Premium Munzees
  • Mace Munzees
  • Original Mystery Munzees

This ancient Time Machine will be worth 95 points for both the Capture and CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! The stylish, yet stationary physical MOB will be attracted to Munzee Magnets on Greenies! To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

The godfather of all Time Machines is a bit more stationary!

Zeeloreon and TARDY Details

The Zeeloreon and TARDY Time Traveler specials will bounce to all colors of virtual munzees every 4 hours or when captured. 2,900 of the virtual specials have been released (1,450 of each type) so there’s plenty of opportunities to cap these time travelers!

The Zeeloreon Time Traveler will be worth 85 points for both the Capture and CapOn.

The TARDY Time Traveler will be worth 63 points for both the Capture and CapOn.

Both virtual Time Traveler specials will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on all colors of virtual munzees. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Badges

Additionally, there will be six badges to earn based on the number of Time Traveler specials you capture. Each Time Traveler special has its own line of two badges, so the achievements will not count the overall total captures, but instead the distinct captures of that type. But just how many captures it takes to earn all six badges may take some TIME to figure out!

However, we will reveal the first badge of each line, which appear as follows:

It’s not all about leaping through time though! We’re also celebrating the quadrennial holiday by bringing back our pal from the last Leap Day. We have new personal tags featuring 2016’s Leap Frog specials, which are also a part of our Joystick Gaming Munzees. These personals will only be available for a limited time so be sure to grab one (or 29) before they hop away! Get yours in the FT Online Store HERE!

The Ametust, Topaas, and Oniks are Ready to Rock Your World As the Latest Pouch Creatures!

UPDATE: Funfinity Stone capture badges are now live! 

Please give a warm welcome to the first new Pouch Creatures released this year, Ametust, Topaas, and Oniks!

Also known as part of the Funfinity Stones, these Player Owned Bouncers (POB) resemble the Jewel Munzees, which they also bounce to! These three stones are available NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Be sure to shop fast, because these Funfinity Stones will leave the store at 10:00 MHQ on Monday, March 2! Players can purchase one of each of the Funfinity Stone types for $10 each. No upgrade ability is available.

So this means that the physical Topaz munzee and the virtual Amethyst and Onyx munzees can also be magnetized to pull these stones!

Don’t forget to pick up magnets at the Freeze Tag Online Store and magnetize a greenie, virtual, Jewel, or Treehouse of your choosing to attract up to 3 Specials, Myths, or Pouch Creatures for up to an hour!

For deploying a Funfinity Stone Pouch Creature Munzee, you will earn the respective deploy badge:

UPDATE: There is also a line of ten badges for capturing unique Funfinity stones! Unlike other Pouch Creature badge lines these will be earned for ALL unique Funfinity captures, no matter the type. Each badge features a different Funfinity Stone so some may be a bit of a sneak peek of what’s to come! The latter badges will be pretty difficult to earn so be sure to capture Funfinity Stones whenever you see them!

Below you’ll find the requirements for the first two capture badges, which feature Topaas and the Null image. You’ll have to cap more to see which sun-shiny stone comes next!
