Magnetus Joins Munzee As the Latest Pouch Creature!

This pet with an unusual proboscis may be a pest to Santa and his elves, but only due to the sheer numbers! The magnetic force emanating from the Magnetus’s bill is so strong that they are often found stuck on the most inconvenient metal surfaces, i.e. the communal fridge, various power tools, and especially Santa’s sleigh — sometimes the reindeer aren’t able to take off due to the weight of all the attached Magnetus! To help reduce Magnetus numbers in the North Pole, the latest Pouch Creature is on sale NOW and through the weekend in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

That’s right, that means you won’t have to set your timers for odd hours in order to guarantee a Magnetus purchase! You can pick up your Magnetus Pouch Creature for $15. Magnetus will be joining the ranks of Mitmegu, Tuli, Vesi, Muru, and Hadavale as the latest Munzee Pouch Creature. Magnetus

Like the Pimedus we introduced earlier in the year, the Magnetus will operate similarly to a Prize Wheel, randomly offering different prizes for cappers and owners! You can earn points, magnets, maybe even the high point earning Virtual Deploy Booster Credit?!?! That means you never know what prize you’ll be getting! Unlike the Pimedus, the Magnetus is a benign being. It will always reward you with points, but the amount will be reduced if you receive an additional prize!

You can use the nudge feature up to three times a day (MHQ 24-hour day), but only after your munzee has sat for at least 3 hours. Additionally, the Bouncer Upgrade will also allow you to rename your Magnetus! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize your Pouch Creature’s moniker. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct, and be mindful of maintaining a family friendly environment!

Magnetus will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Magnetus on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Magnetus visits you. However, Magnetus will be non-blastable. This Pouch Creature will be attracted to Physical Magnets on Greenies and Virtual Magnets on Red- and Blue-toned Virtual Munzees. You can access Magnetus under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

Badges

Magnetus captures will count toward the overall Pouch Creature capture badges. Additionally all players who purchase a Magnetus will receive the following deploy badge:

While we typically associate Friday the 13th with October, the conditions for this special day can happen up to 3 times a year! 2019 actually had 2 Friday the 13ths, but to extend our Halloween in December theme, we wanted to save Flat Day the 13th for today!

Hydra and Banshee Variants are Nightmares Before Christmas!

If you thought the Dragon and Yeti variants were spooky, these new Mythological Munzee Variants will definitely change your mind! As of 12:00 MHQ today, you can now upgrade both the Hydra and Banshee Mythological Munzees into new variants!

Much like AlternaMyths, the Mythological Munzee Variants are twists on the original Myth types that allow them to bounce to other types of munzees. These variants are only available to Myths that have been “Upgraded.*”

All four of our new variants will have the same point values:

Upgrading Your Myth

Once your Myth is upgraded with the Bouncer Upgrade Credit, you can convert it to a new type similar to how you would convert any other type of munzee. Remember that you can only convert a Myth Variant once, and after a Myth has been changed, it cannot go back. Previously known as the Myth Upgrade, the Bouncer Upgrade Credit also allows for the opportunity to “nudge” your Myth to a new munzee up to three times a day in the MHQ 24-hour day after it has sat for three hours. Plus it gives you the opportunity to rename your Myth to something personal and creative!

Points for Variant Myths will remain the same. Variant Myths will also continue counting toward their specific Myth badges just like normal. The only thing that changes with an Upgrade is what it bounces to, as well as a new capture icon in the Specials list. For more info on Variants visit the Munzee Help Guide!

Let Vietnam’s Global Grub Warm You Up!

The weather outside is frightful, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to feast! As we head into our final month for our Global Grub releases, we’re thrilled to announce the addition of Vietnam Global Grub specials to the map starting today at 15:00 MHQ time!

A total of 12 Vietnam Global Grub specials will be deployed. They will join other virtual Global Grub specials such as USA, Ukraine, France, Australia, and more! They will bounce to regular virtuals and colored virtuals every 12 hours or when captured.

Every time a Global Grub special is captured, you will earn a badge featuring a dish of food that is unique to the flag pin country. Capturing the Vietnam Global Grub will earn you the following special badge:

 

Pho is Vietnam’s answer to other countries’ popular noodle soups, such as the Japanese Ramen or Korean Ramyun. However, you’ll find they are vastly different — looking at the ingredients alone, you can see some clear differences. Pho noodles are made from rice flour, which gives them a slightly translucent white color. In addition, Pho puts the emphasis on fresh herbs and vegetables, which offer a lighter alternative for noodle soup fans!

The Global Grub specials will bounce around the globe for the remainder of the year before leaving the map on 12/31/2019 at 23:59 MHQ time. You will have until then to try your luck capturing these very rare specials. Ninja-bread Men Specials Pop Out of the MHQ Oven Kicking!

Didn’t get what you wanted for Christmas last year? You might want to leave these cookies out for Santa this year so he gets the message! To spread some Christmas cheer we’ve baked enough batches of these cookies to feed an army! You can now take a bite out of four different Ninja-bread Men cookies — enough for you to swear off of gingerbread until next year!

Ninja-bread Men Details

We have four flavors of bouncing MOB specials (2 virtual, 2 physical) from now all the way until December 18 at 23:59 MHQ time! These cookie karate masters land on Greenies and Virtuals respectively, but both also land on certain “baking ingredients” Evolution Munzees as well! Virtual Ninja-Bread Men will land on all levels of Egg Evolution Munzees and physical Ninja-Bread Men will land on all levels of Milk Evolution Munzees. The specials will bounce every 6 hours or when captured. 1,875 of these specials have been released (roughly 468 of each type) for plenty of capping opportunities!

The physical specials will be attracted to Munzee Magnets on Greenies, while the virtual specials will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on Virts. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Physical Specials

The physical specials include the Sai Ninja-Bread Man and the Shuriken Ninja-Bread Man. These physical bouncers will land on the following:

  • All levels of Milk Evolution Munzees
    • Calf

The physical bouncing specials will all be worth 83 points for both the Capture and Host.

Virtual Specials

November GOTM and POTM Winners!

Far from being the intermediary month between Halloween and Christmas, November brought us some popular Origami specials, recognition for our veterans, and time to reflect on what we’re thankful for. As this month comes to a close, we are happy to announce the winners of the November Garden of the Month (GOTM) and Player of the Month (POTM), as well as the criteria for December POTM! The badges for November GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early December, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

November GOTM

This month we wanted to highlight two gardens of the avian influence — who says November is only for turkeys? Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Owlgarden Zürich, designed by Tabata2, and the Berlin Tempelhofer Feld – Skylark/Feldlerche, designed by halizwein, as our winning November GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

This adorable blue bird is a work of art in its own right!

Owls have long been associated with wisdom and knowledge, to the extent that they are associated with the Greek goddess Athena. Was it by coincidence or by design then, that the garden blankets Zurich’s Nordamerika Native Museum (NONAM)? You’ll have to ask creator Tabata2!

Berlin Tempelhofer Feld – Skylark/Feldlerche by halizwein in Berlin, Germany

This garden is located in Tempelhofer Feld, once an airfield, and now the largest inner-city green space in Berlin!

While this garden was nominated earlier in the year, we think the colors are perfect for fall! Creator halizwein was inspired by the lively chirpings and calls of the skylarks, which are plentiful at Tempelhofer Feld in the spring. The spreadsheet for this garden even includes a link to a video where you can hear the skylarks for yourself!

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

ZeeOps- Operation: Glitch (December 2019)

Despite all odds, ZeeOps HQ has been given new life! Due to the success of Project: B.O.U.N.C.E.R. Director Zee has been rescued, and the enemy is one step closer to defeat. Together we can bring The Rising Sons to their knees, although it appears that the enemy’s stranglehold on HQ has made some messes.

ZeeOps scientists are investigating issues with the Neurological Memory Technology our recruits use for training. The system keeps glitching and Director Zee worries the enemy may be attacking from within. To stop this cyber attack you’ll have to complete a variety of past missions before the system is taken over completely.

December 2019 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

This month features  a variety of munzee types so be sure to stock up in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Please note that there are only two Operation types available for this month- the Basic Op (3 days) and the Advanced Op (7 days). 

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Glitch” badge.

 

This month’s Missions are as follows:

Level 1

  • Undercover Training – Capture 1 event indicator pin.
  • Greenie-ology I – Capture at least 20 greenies.
  • Game On – Capture and/or Deploy at least 10 Gaming type munzees (including scattered joystick games and bowling rolls).
  • Mystery Mastery Program I – Capture at least 10 physical Mystery Munzees.
  • Cargo Retrieval Training – Capture at least 20 munzees.

Level 2

  • Precious Stone Stockpiler – Capture at least 20 jewels
  • Virtual Surreality – Capture at least 100 virtual munzees of any type.
  • Level Up – Capture and/or Deploy at least 25 Gaming type munzees (including scattered joystick games and bowling rolls).
  • It’s Not Easy Being Green – Capture at least 15 and deploy at least 5 Greenies.
  • Pre-Advanced Training – Earn at least 10,000 points.

Completing Operations will give you some hard earned rewards as well.

MunzPak Exclusives- $2.50 (Normally $3), $10 Five Packs (Normally $15)

After a year of awesome MunzPak exclusives, we’re excited to get more of these unique types out in the wild! Players can now pick up Joystick, Butterfly, Frog and Lily physical credits in the FT Online Store. These physical credits will normally be priced at $3 each, but for our Zee-sonal Sale they’ll be available for $2.50 each! You can also pick up 5 packs of each of these new credits for $15 normally, but this weekend only they’ll be available for $10! There are no limits on these credits, so be sure to stock up.

Treehouse Stickers- $8 (Normally $10)

We have a limited number of Treehouse Munzee physical stickers available as well. These were put in November’s MunzPak and feature a Treehouse decal with the Treehouse code as well. Players are limited to one purchase per account, but this limit is outside of the normal Treehouse credit limits, so if you already purchased one for this 14 day period you can also pick up this physical sticker. Treehouses are normally $10, but this limited run will be available for $8 for the weekend.

Temporary Virtuals- $1.25 (Normally $2.50)

Fresh off the new update, we’ve got Temp Virts on sale for $1.25! Normally these cost $2.50 so this discount is great if you’re looking to deploy at worldwide Christmas Events. Remember that now Temp Virts will only expire 30 days after they have been deployed, so if you stock up now you’ll have plenty for the rest of the holiday season!

Eventzee Blue Christmas Premium Photo Scavenger Hunt- $5 sale ($6 after sale)

Join in for a week of photo fun with our Blue Christmas Premium Eventzee photo scavenger hunt! The cost to join the hunt is $5 until December 3 at 10:00 MHQ/CST, then the price will increase to $6 until the hunt begins. Although you can purchase access to the hunt when the sale starts* clues will officially go live on December 4, 2019 at 15:00 MHQ/CST. You’ll then have until December 11, 2019 at 15:00 MHQ/CST to submit your photos.

This hunt will feature 20 photo clues you can do from anywhere around the world! With the Christmas Zee-son in full swing expect many of these clues to focus on holiday cheer. Just by joining the hunt you will earn the special “Blue Christmas” badge and by completing the hunt you’ll earn another secret badge as well! Both badges will show in both Munzee and Eventzee apps. Everyone who completes the hunt will also be put into a drawing for one of three Freeze Tag store gift cards! The clue list will be released on the Eventzee Blog once the hunt begins.
