Halloween Event Kickoff, Virtual Sale and Community Challenge!

Ghosts and ghouls, something wicked this way comes! Bewitching Lou is flying across the night sky because Halloween Munzee Events officially kick off today! This has been our biggest month ever for Munzee events, so we’re excited to see a big turnout this weekend.

With Halloween Events in overdrive, we want to give you all another opportunity to earn double points on all Flat Friends during MH-BOO Bash Weekend! There are 61 events this weekend alone, so here is your challenge:

The worldwide community will need to capture 500 event indicator pins and 5,000 event pins by 23:59 MHQ on 10/14. We understand that not everyone can make it to events, so we’ll also have a secondary goal for deploying virtual munzees of any type as well. If 2,500 virtuals of any type are deployed throughout the weekend, that can replace one of the other requirements.

Be sure to check the Munzee calendar to find an event near you. Deploy virts at events as well to better your chances, support other players, and gain ! We have a handful of virtual items on sale in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

  • Amethyst: $3 (originally $4)- BUY HERE
  • Emerald: $8 (originally $10)- BUY HERE
  • MVM: $3.75 (originally $4.50)- BUY HERE
  • Surprise: $3.75 (originally $4.50)- BUY HERE

Just a reminder that the point increase for Event Munzees is now effective as well!

  • Event pins are now worth 10 points each
  • Event Indicator Pins are now worth 100 points each
  • Event Badges are now worth 500 points
  • CoExist Munzees are now worth 200 points

We hope you all have a howling good time for the rest of the month and we can’t wait to see some of you at MH-BOO Bash! We might even have some fun tricks, or treats, up our sleeves for the worldwide community too…

Happy hauntings and Munzee on!

One final reminder for hosts from last month’s blog: All events moving forward will receive 50 event pins and proximity between event pins will be 100 feet. Effective date was October 12.

Introducing Great Britain Iconic Location Munzees and Unique Attractions Places Munzee!

We’re excited to announce a new line of munzees based on Great British iconic locations! Just like World Heritage Locations, and Florida and California Historic Munzees, Great Britain Iconic Locations have been deployed at culturally significant locations throughout England with additional countries to follow over time!

Similar to the other tourism munzees, the GB Iconic Location Munzees are deployed by an MHQ account based on a database of historically and culturally significant attractions. This time we also had some help from Munzee player pilsleyguy who was gracious enough to gather notable locations! Thanks for all your hard work! These all new munzees will be deployed at a variety of areas like the Robin Hood Statue in Nottingham, Sir Steve Redgrave Statue in Marlow, and The Martian in Woking. Players will find these deployed across each of the counties in England.

When captured, players will earn 50 points. These virtual munzees are not blastable, so you’ll have to get out and learn a bit more about these iconic locations! If you notice any that are deployed in the wrong location please contact support with the name/URL of the munzee and correct information.

As we have stated before, we plan to continue to expand this line of munzees into more states and different countries as well in the coming months.

We’re also excited to announce a new Places Munzee for Unique Attractions. We want to see these at the weirdest roadside wonders the world has to offer! Get yours in the Freeze Tag Store TODAY at https://store.freezetag.com/products/places-munzees!

These new Places Munzees can be deployed at unique attractions across the world. These can include tourist traps like the World’s Largest Ball Of Twine in Kansas, or the Mirror Ball in England. Since these are a bit more obscure than other Places Munzees they will need to be searchable on Google Maps and may take a bit longer than usual to approve. Please bear with our support staff and if they decline your submission please work with them to locate the area for confirmation. You will receive an email with approval or rejection with a reason. Please see all details about Places Munzees in our help manual.

Places Munzees have a 1,000 ft capture radius, can be captured daily, but cannot be captured via Blast Captures. Please note that although these may be deployed at large structures or unique monuments, many notable spots may already be Historical Location Places or Museum Places.

Unique Attractions Places Munzees are available for $10, and you can purchase one of each type per account every 30 days. Remember that Places Munzees have recently had a point increase and you can purchase other types of Places as well!

Good luck on your iconic adventures! Munzee on!

PSA: Events in October

Howdy Munzee community around the world!

October was already going to be a busy month for events with all of the Halloween events on the calendar! However over the past 4 days many of you have shown your commitment to reaching Level 5 in the Clan Wars in a new way, by hosting events. Due to the overwhelming number, over 130 as of the time of this blog post, I felt it was necessary to give all players a few expectations for events.

Event hosts are important to us at MHQ. You’ve always been a generally smaller audience interacting directly with Louise, our Worldwide Events Manager, and have come to understand our systems. With this new rush of hosts and events we would like to welcome you, and share a few words of wisdom and some expectations.

The first is easy, understand you are not the only host Louise is dealing with. Respect her time and your own by FULLY reading her event creation email because it includes ALL of the information you need to be a successful host.

Second, be prepared in advance. Louise is great and she works at all hours of the day and night, but she may not be able to handle your “emergency” in a timely fashion if you haven’t prepared yourself. Again, most questions she has are covered by the email she sends you with your account details, please read it fully. You can also seek the advice of others who have hosted in the past or work together with others to share the load.

Third, Location Location Location! Events need to be in their own location. You cannot have 2 events in the same place around the same time, otherwise it is considered one event. Have the 2nd event at a later time in another location.

Finally, YOU ARE AN EXTENSION OF MHQ* to any players who attend your events. You could be the first person to introduce someone to this great game! Please understand that event hosts are held to a higher set of rules:

  • Many events have proximity rules lifted so they can deploy physical munzees in crowded areas. This does not give you the right to break the rules and teach others to do the same.
  • All deployments should physically be in the location where the pin is on the map, just like the regular game.
  • No event should have multiple munzees to scan at a single location.
  • No event should be conducted with a sheet of paper with munzees on it to scan as you walk/ride/drive from one location to the next.

The rules of the game are in place for a reason. Event hosts are held to a higher standard and need to set an example for all players. This is an important point for us because you are representing the game of Munzee to a wider audience. YOU are growing the game. We appreciate that very much and ask that you do so respectfully.

Thank you for reading these rules and requests, violations are being dealt with in accordance with the player code of conduct.

Let’s all have a great time in October and maybe we’ll see you at some of the events!

Munzee On!

Rob, President of Freeze Tag Games

And now…

October 2018 Clan Requirements, The Story

It’s September 28, 2018 at 15:05 MHQ Time, the October Clan Requirements have been released for exactly 5 minutes. There are shrieks of delight from some!

*Shriek*

There are groans of misery from others!

*Groan, mumble, mumble*

At MHQ Rob sits, drumming his fingers, watching “The Water Cooler” for some sign of acceptance or rejection of his latest attempt to entertain the masses. But today there isn’t a lot of chatter because the requirements were laid out in 3 formats, enough to please even the most detailed of players. At least that’s what Rob thinks. 😉

All around the world players start to communicate and choose what level they will aim for in October. Some shaking their heads because “THERE ARE NO EVENTS NEAR ME!” so I won’t be able to get the event indicator pins. Others saying they won’t be able to get virtual evolutions because they “JUST CAPPED THEM YESTERDAY WHEN THEY EVOLVED.”

Rob patiently waits for the complaints to become public so he can start reminding players that clans are like families, they help each other out. He thinks, clans are also like underwear, sometimes you have to change them – but he doesn’t say this out loud. He reminds everyone that each level is something to aim for with the higher levels designed to be more challenging and often not designed for a brand new player. It’s best for players to join the game, join a clan, figure everything out, accumulate some credits, buy some stickers, maybe even a Munzpak! 😉 *Shameless plug*

Anyway, one group of players that have played together for the last 27 clan battles decides they are going for LEVEL 5! They know it will be a challenge but they are up for it. One player in New York says they can deploy some of the Scatters needed, but not all 50. Two other players from Finland and Australia say they’ve got enough to help as well. A player from California chimes in and says they know of a prize wheel trail with 10 they can capture but it won’t be enough for the 125 required. One of the German clan members says they have a prize wheel garden just one town over so the prize wheel caps will be easy to get. They notice there are 2 specific requirements that are “per player” and decide to come up with a “battle plan.”

Several of them plan to use one magnet to get their 3 myth caps, others have “myths all over the place every day” and say it will be easy for them. One of the players from England says they are going to have to drive 3 towns up the M4 just to have a spot to deploy their 15 clan weapons because “there’s no room here for anything”. The others laugh because CLEARLY there is always room for one more! 😉

They notice it will take a total of 50 myth caps and 250 Clan weapons deployed to earn rewards at Level 5 and each vows to do their required portion “and then some.” The chat goes on for the next several hours with them discussing each requirement and how they will achieve it.

They compliment Rob, publicly, for finally giving three forms of displaying the requirements. After all, “The Time Is Now”. He’s sure there will be a few mistakes but has publicly vowed to fix them, as he always does, and also to ignore all questions, as he always does. 😉

So, before we close this story, a reminder to all…if it isn’t mentioned specifically then it’s probably excluded on purpose. And YES, CapOn points DO count in October!

Munzee On and Happy Clanning in October!

Announcing The Removal of Certain Munzee Types

As we move closer to the release of Munzee 4.0 some decisions have been made regarding certain features of the app and gameplay. In order to offer a more comprehensive gameplay experience we will be removing certain Munzee types leading up to the release of the new version. We understand that some of these types are liked in the Munzee community, but by removing them we can enhance the gameplay experience for both new and old users, as well as maintaining accountability on all munzee types.

Business Munzees:
Alongside the launch of version 4.0 all Business Munzees will be archived. The development process is still ongoing for the new version, so no firm date has been set. The Business Munzee program was halted years ago and with no more growth it makes more sense to move on and remove this type from active gameplay. With only 208 deployed, and many of these munzees inside businesses, it is easier to just remove them from the map rather than convert them.

Business Munzee

NFC Munzees:
Although we removed the ability for players to deploy NFC munzees years ago, we will be removing them all together with the launch of 4.0. Unfortunately the technology for Near-Field Communication (NFC) is not easily accessible for developers on all platforms, so we will be moving on from the type. All NFC munzees will be converted to a different type around the launch of the new app, but more details regarding this specific change will be available soon.

Accessible & Quiz Munzees:
Beginning Friday September 28 at 00:01 MHQ players will not be able to deploy any new Accessible, Quiz Munzees or Virtual Quiz Munzees. Although these types offer unique gameplay experiences, many have been misused from their original concept and it has proven too difficult to enforce regulations on them. When the new version of the app is launched all Accessible and Quiz Munzees will be converted to Greenies. Virtual Quiz Munzees will be converted to virtuals, but similar to the NFC conversion there will be more information regarding that change soon.

Although all of these types may be brought back in some form in the future, there are currently no plans to do so.

Greenie Point Increases:
There is a bright side to the conversion of Quiz and Accessible Munzees though. When 4.0 launches an increase in Greenie points will also occur. Currently Accessibility and Quiz Munzees have a CapOn value of three points, but when converted to new Greenies that value will increase to 11 points. Remember, these types will not be archived, simply converted so if you have deployed any of these they will still be available for capture.

New Points:
Deploy: 18 Points
Capture: 20 Points
CapOn: 11 Points

Thank you all for your understanding. For years we have experimented with many different munzee types and not all of those have been successful. As we continue to innovate the game we look forward to your open-mindedness regarding new and exciting types.

We’re just as excited for the launch of 4.0 as you all are, but remember this is just the stepping stone to all sorts of grand ideas! We can’t wait to share them with you. Munzee on!

For those that are not currently eligible for ZeeQRew we encourage you all to prove yourselves by accomplishing the requirements. This crew will only grow over time as our game grows!

Good luck and Munzee on!

Seasonal Munzee Point Update & International Peace Day Personals!

We’re excited to announce a point increase on Seasonal Munzees, which will go into effect at 00:01 MHQ on September 22!

The new point structure is as follows:

Seasonal Munzee Points:

  • Deploy- 50 points
  • Capture- 40 points
  • CapOn- 20 points

For a refresher Seasonal Munzees are similar to the Evolution Munzees in that they change after a period of time. Seasonal Munzees will change to the corresponding season on set dates:

  • October 1st – Fall (Northern Hemisphere)/Spring (Southern Hemisphere)
  • January 1st – Winter (Northern Hemisphere)/Summer (Southern Hemisphere)
  • April 1st – Spring (Northern Hemisphere)/Fall (Southern Hemisphere)
  • July 1st – Summer (Northern Hemisphere)/Winter (Southern Hemisphere)

This cycle will be continuous, but you can only capture each stage of the munzee once (i.e. if you capture the Fall stage, you cannot capture the Fall stage a year later).

Previously Seasonal Munzees have only been available in MunzPaks, which means there haven’t been a large quantity of these deployed around the world. We want to change that! We have some cool future plans for Seasonal Munzees, but we need more of them deployed before we can reveal those ideas. Think you can help us grow the Seasonal map?

For the first time ever we’ve now added Seasonal Packs for sale in the Freeze Tag Online Store. For a limited time you’ll get 10 pre-coded Seasonal Munzee stickers for the discounted price of $10.

You can get Seasonal Munzees here:
https://store.freezetag.com/products/seasonal-munzees

In other news, today is International Peace Day and to celebrate we have a new Personal Munzee Tag for sale in the online store. In our location-based gaming world, what’s more peaceful than Coexisting?

You can get Peace Day personal tags here:
https://store.freezetag.com/products/personal-munzee

Be on the lookout for more point increases as we near the launch of Munzee 4.0. Thanks for your continued support and Munzee on!
