Introducing the White Ghost Pouch Creature Munzee!

If you’re in need of a sizable boost in points, we have just the munzee for you. Don’t be scared, Hadavale is here to help!

We’ll be launching our newest Pouch Creature, the white ghost Hadavale, at 15:00 MHQ on January 30th. Hadavale is a Team Owned Bouncer (TOB) so it will be deployed on staff accounts, similar to AlternaMyths such as the Fairy Godmother. It will be available (visible) to ALL players on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th of each month. Hadavale will be available (visible) ALL days of the month for Premium members only. Hadavale:

Hadavale will appear in both physical and virtual forms since it will bounce to both physical and virtual munzees every 6 hours or when captured. Since Hadavale is deployed by staff members, this munzee will be extremely rare. You can help locate this ghoul by choosing the “expiring specials” and “pouch creatures” filters.

As Munzee followers know, Pouch Creatures are based on items from our sister app WallaBee. While similar to the Mythological Munzees, our Pouch Creatures have special attributes that are entirely their own. And this White Ghost is especially advantageous.

When Hadavale is captured, players will receive a Physical Deploy Booster. When this booster is activated players will receive double points on all Physical Deploys for the next 120 minutes. This is for ALL types of physical munzees, so Hadavale is quite the munzee to capture.

Positive Charges will stack on multi-point days. For example if you capture a Hadavale on a 3x point day, you would get 6x the normal points when you deploy. Since it has so much to offer, Hadavale will NOT be attracted to Munzee Magnets.

Additionally, there will be three badges to earn based on unique captures. Here is the first in the line.

To celebrate the newest Pouch Creature we will be adding more of Tuli, Vesi, and Muru to the online store, as well as Fancy Flat Robs and a handful of Mythological Munzees! They’ll be for sale at 12:15 MHQ tomorrow (1/31) but they won’t be around forever, so if you haven’t had a chance to deploy one, now is your chance! These munzees will all be added to the Player Owned Bouncer (POB) Collection tomorrow. You can find that collection HERE!

Additional January Players of the Month Winners!

Congratulations for officially surviving the first month of 2019! We had so much fun awarding our previous Players of the Month with custom badges that we decided to spread the love to include a wider variety of some of Munzee’s very talented Virtual Garden builders. As a reminder, Player(s) of the Month will be based on different criteria each month. To cap off a successful January, we’ve extended this month’s award to an additional 35 players from all around the globe based on their world-renowned Virtual Garden building skills!

To thank these builders for all of the work they do in the Munzee community, we will be awarding them special POTM badges! 

You can find a complete list of all of our players of the month for January at the end of this post! Congrats to all of our January POTM winners! Munzee wouldn’t be the same without all of the hard work, time, and effort you (and all of our dedicated players!) put into transforming the maps. And another thank you goes out to all of the players who nominated these talented builders.

Some months we will ask for nominations to help us choose recipients based on that month’s criteria, but we will not be accepting nominations in February. The Player Of The Month requirements for February are based on Super Streaks! That means if you have captured and/or deployed every day for more than a year, you will be rewarded. We have to recognize the players who never take a day off! Thank you for helping us grow the map, and stay tuned for your future recognition!

Begin your Adventure with Trail Munzee Badges!

One of the best parts about Munzee is the opportunity to explore new places, so we decided to drop nine new badges for activity on Trail Munzees. These badges will drop today (1/29) at 10:00 MHQ. That means if you’re reading this, you have the opportunity to earn them!

As many of you know, the Trail Munzees are deployed in a path that leads other players to a place worth seeing. These munzees can form a tour to one of your favorite local hangs, or lead others to a site that makes your town unique. As long as they get you out of the house and exploring, the Trail Munzees are doing their job!

Overall there with be nine new Trail Munzee badges being released today. These badges will be retroactive. There will be 3 badges for capturing Trail Munzees, 3 badges for deploying Trail Munzees, and 3 badges for completing entire Trails.

All Trail Munzee types will count towards these badges:

  • Trail Munzees
  • Virtual Trail Munzees
  • Event Trail Munzees

We won’t spoil the requirements for all of the badges, but here’s a sneak peak of the first in each line!

Gatherer- Capture 10 Trail Munzees of any type. 

Wayfinder- Deploy 5 Trail Munzees of any type. 

Daytripper- Capture every stop on a single Trail of any type.

Help create new opportunities in your neighborhood by deploying Trail Munzees! Stop by the Freeze Tag Online Store and purchase physical credits, which you can use to convert regular greenies into Trail stops. Or you can purchase Virtual credits individually; you will receive a Virtual Trail credit and a Virtual Munzee with each purchase.

The physical Trail tags (either metal or plastic tree tags) are hardcoded with Trail munzees, so you don’t need basic greenies. Click here to see the entire Trail Munzee collection.

February 2019 Clan War Requirements

Clan Battle #71 will start February 3 at 00:01 MHQ!

Requirements this month are based on overall and individual Clan activity and points, so you’ll need to work together and hold one another accountable. Remember, a team is only as strong as the weakest link. This month may be short, but that doesn’t mean the requirements are any easier!

If you would like to join a clan for the first time or want to find a new clan you can use our Clan Randomizer button, but it is only available from 00:01 February 1 through 23:59 February 2, so act fast!

Please note that by the suggestion of the players we have defined different terms (like POB*) for bouncing munzees. You can find those definitions below the requirements!

LEVEL 1

At least 5,000 Individual Points
At least 5 Individual Deploys
At least 1 Individual POB Capture

At least 100,000 Clan Total Points
At least 20 Clan POB Captures
At least 10 Clan MOB** Captures

Australia Day Means New Global Grub!

Australia Day is in full swing so we’re excited to announce another Global Grub special update. Following the success of Monday’s special flag of Switzerland munzee, our second Global Grub Munzee will be a virtual flag of Australia being deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. What better way to celebrate Australia Day than with a cheesymite scroll?! (If only you could eat it!)

Only one Australia Global Grub Munzee will be deployed, but who knows what the future will hold. The Australian flag Munzee will bounce to regular virtuals and colored virtuals every 12 hours or when captured.

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points


By capturing  the Australian Global Grub you’ll also earn the new Cheesymite Scroll badge! The Australian badge will equip players with — you guessed it— a cheesymite scroll. (If you aren’t native to Down Under, now’s a good time to do some Googling.) Remember, down the line we’ll be putting out an overall capture line, so don’t forget to check back for updates.

Hopefully this Global Grub will make its way home at some point during Australia Day. Maybe at one of the Australia Day Munzee Events in Victoria or Perth? We’ll just have to wait and see!

You’ll be able to capture the Global Grub specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all Global Grub specials will leave the map on 12/31/2019 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique Global Grub specials will launch throughout the year so always be aware— you don’t want to go hungry!

Australia Iconic Location Munzees Deployed for Australia Day!

G’day, mates! If this greeting didn’t tip you off, we’re excited to announce we’re dropping our Australia Iconic Location Munzees today at 08:00 MHQ since it’s officially Australia Day (1/26) in the homeland! Since we’re following the timezone of our friends Down Under, that leaves many of you with plenty of time to practice terrible Australian accents and commit the cardinal crime of confusing Aussies with Kiwis!

Our latest Tourism Munzee will join the ranks of Great Britain, Florida, California and more. You can locate these special virtual munzees by turning on your Tourism filter.

What better way to celebrate Australia Day than by pretending to be a tourist to capture some munzees? And if you happen to be a tourist, then you’re in luck! Now you have something fun to add to your to-do list while you check out everything that makes this continent great.

The Australia Iconic Location Munzees are deployed by an MHQ account based on a database of historical markers brought to us by Munzee player rubik80, and his team, including SpySmurf, SammyDiddly, and TeamKamikaze! Thanks for all the invaluable help! Players will earn 50 points when they capture these new tourism munzees. Like other Historical Location Munzees, these virtuals will not be blastable. That means you’re going to have to get out there and do some walking!

Australia Iconic Location Munzees will not be accompanied by a distinct set of badges. Captures for these will instead count towards the newly released Tourism line of badges! Tourism badges will be primarily linked to the Historic and Iconic Munzees from different countries around the world, as well as states in the U.S. There are six badges in total, with plans to release more Historic and Iconic Location Munzees in the future!

If you notice any Iconic Location or Historic Munzees deployed in the wrong place, please contact support with the name/URL of the munzee and correct information. Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for all the latest news and to share how you Munzee.

FIRST EVER Gardens of the Month Winners Revealed!

Today is a special day for the Munzee community, as we are excited to announce our first ever Gardens of the Month winners! This recognition is meant to honor a number of our outstanding players who have helped create some of our favorite Munzee Virtual Gardens. As a way to highlight the achievements of some of the very many people who help make Munzee great, we have created special badges for all players who have deployed in winning gardens.

Our first two Gardens of the Month organizers are mnbball and brandikorte! If these names sound familiar, it’s because these dedicated players also earned our first Players of the Month wins earlier this month. The exciting part about GOTM is that all players who deployed in the garden will earn a special badge as well. So without further ado, our winning gardens for January and our special badges are as follows:

Do you want to be featured in our February GOTM? We’re asking players to submit already created gardens for the chance to earn this title! Remember that all players who deploy in winning gardens will earn a custom badge. Just be sure to follow the rules!

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Global Grub Special Dropping This Afternoon!

This Munzee Monday is equipped with a very special announcement. While some of our American players are enjoying the three-day weekend, we are excited to announce that our first of nearly two dozen Global Grub specials for the year will be launching this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. So strap on your walking shoes, because it’s time to explore our latest feature!

The Global Grub specials are very rare munzees that will bounce around the world for the remainder of the year. That means you’ll be spending the next eleven months capturing pins featuring different country flags in order to earn badges sporting a unique dish of food for each country. That’s right, your culinary palette is about to expand!

Our first Global Grub special to launch is a physical munzee, featuring the flag for Switzerland. Only one will be deployed, and it will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Magnets though so be sure to stock up! 

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Players will earn a badge for each different Global Grub they capture starting with the La Fondue badge for capturing the Switzerland pin! Down the line, we’ll also be putting out an overall capture line, so stay tuned for more.

Each Global Grub Munzee will go live at 15:00 MHQ on their assigned day. We’re not announcing when each launch will be, but we expect to release a couple specials each month.

All Global Grub specials will leave the map on 12/31/2019 at 23:59 MHQ. Until then, you’ll be able to capture the Global Grub specials on other players’ Greenies as well as your own. Although there is only one Switzerland Global Grub Special, future releases may include more. You’ll just have to wait and see! Some of these specials will be physical, while others will be virtual. Keep in mind that virtuals will not be blastable.

Announcing the NEW Player Of The Month program!

After many months of hiatus we’re excited to announce a revamping of our Player Of The Week program! The new Player Of The Month program will work similarly to it’s weekly precursor, with a few notable differences. Player(s) Of The Month will be based on a different set of criteria each month. For example we’re kicking off January by highlighting some of our world-renowned Virtual Garden builders! Read the entire blog post to see how you can nominate others!

AND It wouldn’t be right to award the builders of gardens this honor without acknowledging the people who built the first tools! Laczy76 and TheMachman These two will also receive the POTM badge for their work in the Munzee community.

These builders have done fantastic work developing Virtual Gardens with the help of the worldwide community. You may recognize brandikorte’s Sunset Cowboy Garden in Ft. Worth, TX. Those in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area may recognize the Burger or Pizza Gardens by mnbball. There might be some more news regarding these Virtual Gardens too, so stay tuned!

If you know a GREAT virtual garden builder please provide two things for us: 1) username 2) Map hyperlink to the garden  — email this information by January 28th to iloveyou@munzee.com so we can choose additional POTM for January.

During some months we may ask for nominations from our players based on that month’s criteria and we will choose recipients based on those details. Anyone who earned the Player Of The Week badge previously IS able to earn the Player Of The Month badge as well! In other months we may automatically award the POTM badge to players who meet certain requirements.

The Player Of The Month requirements for February are based on Super Streaks! If you have captured and/or deployed every day for more than a year you will be rewarded. These dedicated players don’t believe in a day off, but their hard work is helping grow the map!

Earn the Super Duper ULTRA Streak badge by capturing and deploying a munzee every day for a year!

The only requirement is that you have captured AND/OR deployed for at least 366 days straight at any point in your Munzee career. Even if you completed the Super Beast badge three months ago you will still be rewarded, if you didn’t stop at 365. Badges will be awarded February 28th.

Don’t forget, we have monthly Resolution Streak badges for capturing a munzee every day! These reset each month so you can still earn February if you missed a day in January! Maybe there will even be some new long term Streak badges for those who didn’t give up after a year??? Stay tuned for more!

We’re excited to kick off the new Player Of The Month program and challenge you all to play the game in many different ways! We plan to recognize the worldwide nature of the game this year.
