Just in time for Munzee Mania, a NEW Iconic Location Has Arrived!

If you’ll be attending Munzee Mania, we hope you take the opportunity to capture these freshly-deployed pins! Like our New Hampshire and New Mexico Iconic Locations, this new munzee will join the ranks of our Tourism Munzees! You can now locate the Minnesota Iconic Location Munzees by turning on your Tourism filter!

Minnesota Iconic Location

This new Iconic Location will join the map today at 10:00 MHQ time to offer more opportunity for exploration! All Iconic Location Munzees are deployed by an MHQ account based on a database of historical markers in order to encourage players to get out and about and navigate new terrains. The points for this virtual munzee will be as follows:

  • Capture Points: 18-58
  • Deploy Points: 0
  • CapOn Points: 0 (Because it’s an MHQ account)

Like the other Iconic and Historical Location Munzees, the Minnesota Iconic Locations will not be blastable. Additionally, captures will count towards the overall Tourism line of badges. Tourism badges are linked primarily to the Historic and Iconic Munzees from different countries around the world, as well as states in the U.S.

These latest Iconic Locations couldn’t have been made possible without the help of players! Thanks to the players loeschfamily and Ubbs for helping us gather a database of historical markers in order to make this launch possible!

Stay Sharp with Safiir!

Did you figure out the answer to yesterday’s teaser? The answer is Sapphires! The third generation of the Pokémon games includes a Sapphire version; the famous engagement ring Napoleon gifted to his wife Josephine features a pear-shaped sapphire; and in-counter barcode scanners, like those you commonly find at the grocery store, have panels made of sapphire to make them scratch-resistant. Like the past stones, this startlingly blue beauty was borrowed from our sister app WallaBee! Joining the other Funfinity Stones, please welcome the Safiir!

These Player Owned Bouncers (POB) resemble the Jewel Munzees, which they also bounce to! The Safiir is available NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Be sure to shop fast, because these Funfinity Stones will leave the store at 15:00 MHQ on Wednesday, September 16! Like the other Funfinity Stones, players can purchase a Safiir for $10. No upgrade ability is available. Topaas and Oniks will also be available during this time. You can shop the whole collection HERE!

Safiir Details

Safiir joins the current line of Pouch Creatures as a virtual munzee that will bounce to all Virtual Colors, Air Mystery, Sapphire, and Skyland Munzees every 6 hours or when capped.

It will have the same point values as the other Funfinity Stones:

  • Deploy: 250
  • Capture: 200 Points
  • CapOn: 250 Points
  • CapOn (Host Owner): 200 points

Safiir will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Safiir on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Safiir visits you. It will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on all 4 of its landing pads. You can access Safiir under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

September 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost September! You’ll find all the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. Two important pieces of information first: #1 New types will be added to the QRewZee list on September 3rd. #2 The gaming category now includes the scatter munzee (and it’s scatters!)

It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to September 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19.

Level 1

Individual

  • at least 5 days of activity
  • at least 2500 points
  • at least 1 bouncer capture

Clan: in addition to the above individual requirements

  • at least 40,000 points
  • at least 500 jewel points
  • at least 15 mystery caps/deploys
  • at least 10 weapon caps/deploys
  • at least 10 gaming caps/deploys

Rewards: 1 crossbow, 1 electric mystery, 1 clan war card, 1 Trojan unicorn tPOB

Level 2

Individual

  • at least 12 days of activity
  • at least 7500 points
  • at least 5 places captures
  • at least 6 bouncer captures

September Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. Since there is NO Level X this month, there will be a total of 5 badges available in September. The first badge will appear as follows:

Novice Newbies: September 2020- Reached Level 1 in September 2020 Clan Wars

Overall Clan Notes:

Please keep in mind Levels 4 & 5 are considered advanced gameplay and not recommended for brand new players. Be aware when allowing new players to join your clans. QRew/ZeeQRew status will be required for any player earning levels 4&5. See qualifications here.

Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB)

*Mystery cap/deploy include ALL mystery types. (Mystery, Ice, Fire, Water, Earth, Electric, Air) — this does NOT include scatters from these types
**Clan War Card is a new limited edition greeting card. It will follow all the same points and rules as other Limited Edition greeting cards.

Physical points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for ALL Physical types.
Deploy points are for all types excluding Personals.
Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.
Flat friends points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for flat Rob, flat Matt, flat Lou, and flat Hammock. Fancy Flat Rob and Fancy Flat Matt are NOT included in flat friends points.

Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal will not count for Physical points of any sort. It is not a true physical munzee.

Hints for how to play during Stay Home orders:
Use the swap feature for brand new virtual deploys.
Use the online map to deploy virtuals worldwide or find gardens to deploy in on social media groups.
Watch the online store for sales during the month to help meet your goals.
Use evolution reset credits to get new CapOn points from OLD deploys (they do NOT count as new deploys)

And finally, be responsible. If your local government, your health, or any circumstances require you to Stay Home – DO NOT participate. It is up to each of us to determine what is safe and what is allowed. This is a game and not worth risking your own live or the lives of others.

You’ll Be Seeing Green With These 20/20 Vision Munzees!

Need to escape the house to shake off a bad case of cabin fever? While our options for travel are limited at the moment, we can at least take a mental vacation by reading a good book! Why not revisit some of your favorite children’s books, like The Wizard of Oz? You may find that they’re still just as magical, even if you’re all grown up, and that your more mature self will give a fresh take on a book you thought you already knew. These essential eyeglasses were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. If you don’t enjoy wearing glasses non-stop, you may want to keep your visit to the city short!

Only eight pairs of Emerald City Glasses will be deployed, and they will bounce to all colors of virtuals every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Magnets so be sure to stock up! 

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Emerald City Glasses will add this monochrome Over The Rainbow badge to your collection! It will also contribute progress towards the overall capture line of badges — the post is HERE if you missed it!

Even though Emerald City owes a lot to these special glasses, we’re sure it was an equally wonderful sight without them. The glasses didn’t fake the shine, which came from countless gems used to decorate the city, despite not all of them being emeralds. Author L. Frank Baum reportedly based Emerald City on the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, a fair held in Chicago to celebrate Christopher Columbus’s arrival. The beautiful buildings, made dazzling with lights, reflective glass, and other trimmings, were also referred to as the “White City.” Would you want to visit Emerald City? What are some other places from books that you’d like to visit?

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. National Waffle Day Specials Will Have You Bolting for Breakfast!

For those of us lucky enough to be working from home, one benefit is having more time in the morning to scrounge up a good breakfast! Here at MHQ that usually means anything with bacon and eggs, but we also need carbs to balance out that protein! What does a good breakfast look like to you?

To celebrate National Waffle Day, Wandering Waffle specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until September 14 at 23:59 MHQ. You can use the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters to more easily view them on the map. Check out the menu below!

The second line of badges is based on each of the two Wandering Waffle specials. Make sure to cap at least one of each special so you can start your day off right!

Lovesick? It’s Time For Another Segment of Ask Aphrodite!

In times like these, we all need a friend who’s looking out for us. And if that friend happens to be an expert in matters of the heart, all the better! Tune in to 461.5 to hear the soothing, velvety voice of our newest Modern Myth, broadcasting straight from WBHQ-FM!

Aphrodite will be available for sale starting at 12:00 MHQ time today until 12:00 MHQ time on Sept 1!

Aphrodite Details

The Aphrodite Modern Myth will be available for purchase HERE! She will be spotted bouncing around to Greenies, Air Mysteries, Pink Colored Virtuals*, Pink Diamonds, Treehouses, and Skylands every 12 hours or when capped.

Each Aphrodite is numbered and will be owned by a Munzee player. You can pick this Myth up for $20! The sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership. Only ONE (1) Aphrodite is allowed per account.

Points

  • Deploy: 250
  • Capture: 200
  • CapOn: 100

In keeping with the Modern Myth line, when she is captured 3 new munzees will also be scattered nearby — these will either be Glasses or Shell-Phones!

These will scatter like feathers so there are no CapOn points but they are worth 50 points for capture!

Aphrodite is able to be upgraded via a Bouncer Upgrade Credit, which gives the ability to be “nudged” or be renamed. The upgrade credit will give you the ability to “nudge” your Aphrodite to a new munzee up to three times a day, following the MHQ 24-hour day, after it has been on its host munzee for at least three hours. This nudging ability is only available for the owner via the munzee’s webpage and is not available in the app.

Your munzee will still retain its unique number, but feel free to get creative when it comes to renaming your Aphrodite! Just be sure to follow the Player Code of Conduct, and remember Munzee maintains a family-friendly environment.

If you’re hoping to cap one of these brand new Modern Myths, then you’re in luck! Aphrodite will be attracted to Munzee Magnets and Virtual Munzee Magnets. You can access Aphrodite by turning on your “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Mythological” filters.

Deploying Aphrodite will earn you the following badge:

All captures will count toward the Myth Collectors badge line. There is also a line of hidden Capture badges that you can earn for Aphrodite captures, with 3 badges currently available, but more to come! The first in this line will appear as follows:

Starting with our Player of the Month requirements announced a few weeks ago, we wanted to make this month all about reaching out to and supporting all the new players that have discovered Munzee during these tough times.

Last week we posted about the new tutorials we’ve added to the Help & Info section of the app, which is just one of many steps we are taking to make the app more friendly to new players. Another step we’ve taken is testing out week-long Premium trials for new players when they sign up. So far, the results have been good, so it looks like the Premium trials are here to stay!

Thank Goodness These 20/20 Vision Munzees Aren’t Mirrored!

Glasses are great tools for millions, if not billions of people around the world — a simple solution to a big problem, and often the most appealing option for vision correction because of it! Unfortunately, despite improvements in their construction and materials, they are still quite fragile. Tape can temporarily patch up a snapped bridge, but there’s not much you can do for shattered lenses. These sorry shades were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. Have you ever broken a pair of glasses?

Only eight Broken Glasses will be deployed, and they will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Physical Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Broken Glasses will add this smart Scholarly Specs badge to your collection! Also, as of last week we’ve finally released the details on the overall capture line — the post is HERE if you missed it!

Don’t you wish you had a friend like Hermione to cast Oculus Reparo? If it’s been a while since you’ve read the Harry Potter series, you may be surprised to learn that that scene is not part of the book canon! However, the spell was not totally made up by the scriptwriters — Arthur Weasley does cast it in the second book. Regardless, we think it was a great change as it introduced Hermione’s character so effectively in the movie! Excuse us while we take this opportunity to reread the entire book series, followed by marathoning the entire movie series, for the 20th time to refresh our memories. Have you read or watched the Harry Potter series this year? Which character would you most like to be your friend in real life?

A NEW Camp Critter To Love!

If you’re jealous of August MunzPak recipients because of the cute Camp Critters, but aren’t ready to commit to a MunzPak, or if you just want to surround yourself with as many cuddly creatures as possible, this is the option for you!

Bear Cub Camp Critter

While moose, foxes, and squirrels are definitely of the woodland realm, we couldn’t forget the most famous forest resident of all — the bear! Or in this case, the bear cub! If you’d like to make it yours, it is available at the Freeze Tag Online Store as an individual product! That’s right, you can now have up to four different Camp Critter types bouncing around the map!

This new temporary POB (tPOB) will be available for purchase for $5 from now until 12:00 MHQ on Monday Aug 17th. Each player can purchase up to two Bear Cubs total.

Like the other Camp Critters, the Bear Cub is a temporary POB. Similar to the Baby Squirrel, it will bounce to both physical and virtual munzees. It will stay on the map until 23:59 MHQ on Sept 30, when it will be automatically archived on your account. If you’ve ever deployed a Butterfly or Frog Evolution munzee, these will behave similarly with a few exceptions.

  • Deploy: 500 points
  • Capture: 200 points
  • CapOn: 100 points

This cute little critter just loves to play! Tag, Hide-and-Seek, Duck Duck Goose — you name it! Enjoy playing with it now, while it’s still small and can’t knock you over with its sheer strength! It scampers to the following:

  • Treehouse
  • Greenie
  • Earth Mystery
  • Water Mystery
  • Skyland
  • All Virtual Colors
  • Air Mystery
  • Campground Places

Like the other Camp Critters, it will be available for multi-capture.
