You’ll Be Seeing Green With These 20/20 Vision Munzees!

Need to escape the house to shake off a bad case of cabin fever? While our options for travel are limited at the moment, we can at least take a mental vacation by reading a good book! Why not revisit some of your favorite children’s books, like The Wizard of Oz? You may find that they’re still just as magical, even if you’re all grown up, and that your more mature self will give a fresh take on a book you thought you already knew. These essential eyeglasses were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. If you don’t enjoy wearing glasses non-stop, you may want to keep your visit to the city short!

Only eight pairs of Emerald City Glasses will be deployed, and they will bounce to all colors of virtuals every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Magnets so be sure to stock up! 

Points:

  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Emerald City Glasses will add this monochrome Over The Rainbow badge to your collection! It will also contribute progress towards the overall capture line of badges — the post is HERE if you missed it!

Even though Emerald City owes a lot to these special glasses, we’re sure it was an equally wonderful sight without them. The glasses didn’t fake the shine, which came from countless gems used to decorate the city, despite not all of them being emeralds. Author L. Frank Baum reportedly based Emerald City on the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, a fair held in Chicago to celebrate Christopher Columbus’s arrival. The beautiful buildings, made dazzling with lights, reflective glass, and other trimmings, were also referred to as the “White City.” Would you want to visit Emerald City? What are some other places from books that you’d like to visit?

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique 20/20 Vision specials will launch throughout the year so keep on the lookout — you won’t want to miss out on these trendy lenses!

National Waffle Day Specials Will Have You Bolting for Breakfast!

For those of us lucky enough to be working from home, one benefit is having more time in the morning to scrounge up a good breakfast! Here at MHQ that usually means anything with bacon and eggs, but we also need carbs to balance out that protein! What does a good breakfast look like to you?

To celebrate National Waffle Day, Wandering Waffle specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until September 14 at 23:59 MHQ. You can use the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters to more easily view them on the map. Check out the menu below!

There will be a total of 480 Wandering Waffle Specials available for capture — that breaks down to 240 of each. These are attracted to either Physical or Virtual Magnets depending on their type. These are not blastable.

There are two lines of badges related to Wandering Waffle specials.

The first line is based on overall Wandering Waffle captures. These badges will show you the tools to make the perfect waffles and some popular dishes with waffles as the main ingredient! The first badge in this line is called Waffle Iron and is earned by capping four Waffles of any type!

The second line of badges is based on each of the two Wandering Waffle specials. Make sure to cap at least one of each special so you can start your day off right!

Lovesick? It’s Time For Another Segment of Ask Aphrodite!

In times like these, we all need a friend who’s looking out for us. And if that friend happens to be an expert in matters of the heart, all the better! Tune in to 461.5 to hear the soothing, velvety voice of our newest Modern Myth, broadcasting straight from WBHQ-FM!

Aphrodite will be available for sale starting at 12:00 MHQ time today until 12:00 MHQ time on Sept 1!

Aphrodite Details

The Aphrodite Modern Myth will be available for purchase HERE! She will be spotted bouncing around to Greenies, Air Mysteries, Pink Colored Virtuals*, Pink Diamonds, Treehouses, and Skylands every 12 hours or when capped.

Each Aphrodite is numbered and will be owned by a Munzee player. You can pick this Myth up for $20! The sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership. Only ONE (1) Aphrodite is allowed per account.

Points

  • Deploy: 250
  • Capture: 200
  • CapOn: 100

In keeping with the Modern Myth line, when she is captured 3 new munzees will also be scattered nearby — these will either be Glasses or Shell-Phones!

These will scatter like feathers so there are no CapOn points but they are worth 50 points for capture!

Aphrodite is able to be upgraded via a Bouncer Upgrade Credit, which gives the ability to be “nudged” or be renamed. The upgrade credit will give you the ability to “nudge” your Aphrodite to a new munzee up to three times a day, following the MHQ 24-hour day, after it has been on its host munzee for at least three hours. This nudging ability is only available for the owner via the munzee’s webpage and is not available in the app.

Your munzee will still retain its unique number, but feel free to get creative when it comes to renaming your Aphrodite! Just be sure to follow the Player Code of Conduct, and remember Munzee maintains a family-friendly environment.

If you’re hoping to cap one of these brand new Modern Myths, then you’re in luck! Aphrodite will be attracted to Munzee Magnets and Virtual Munzee Magnets. You can access Aphrodite by turning on your “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Mythological” filters.

Deploying Aphrodite will earn you the following badge:

All captures will count toward the Myth Collectors badge line. There is also a line of hidden Capture badges that you can earn for Aphrodite captures, with 3 badges currently available, but more to come! The first in this line will appear as follows:

Premium Prizes For Captivating Campers!

Starting with our Player of the Month requirements announced a few weeks ago, we wanted to make this month all about reaching out to and supporting all the new players that have discovered Munzee during these tough times.

Last week we posted about the new tutorials we’ve added to the Help & Info section of the app, which is just one of many steps we are taking to make the app more friendly to new players. Another step we’ve taken is testing out week-long Premium trials for new players when they sign up. So far, the results have been good, so it looks like the Premium trials are here to stay!

Thank Goodness These 20/20 Vision Munzees Aren’t Mirrored!

Glasses are great tools for millions, if not billions of people around the world — a simple solution to a big problem, and often the most appealing option for vision correction because of it! Unfortunately, despite improvements in their construction and materials, they are still quite fragile. Tape can temporarily patch up a snapped bridge, but there’s not much you can do for shattered lenses. These sorry shades were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. Have you ever broken a pair of glasses?

Only eight Broken Glasses will be deployed, and they will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Physical Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

Capturing the Broken Glasses will add this smart Scholarly Specs badge to your collection! Also, as of last week we’ve finally released the details on the overall capture line — the post is HERE if you missed it!

Don’t you wish you had a friend like Hermione to cast Oculus Reparo? If it’s been a while since you’ve read the Harry Potter series, you may be surprised to learn that that scene is not part of the book canon! However, the spell was not totally made up by the scriptwriters — Arthur Weasley does cast it in the second book. Regardless, we think it was a great change as it introduced Hermione’s character so effectively in the movie! Excuse us while we take this opportunity to reread the entire book series, followed by marathoning the entire movie series, for the 20th time to refresh our memories. Have you read or watched the Harry Potter series this year? Which character would you most like to be your friend in real life?

A NEW Camp Critter To Love!

If you’re jealous of August MunzPak recipients because of the cute Camp Critters, but aren’t ready to commit to a MunzPak, or if you just want to surround yourself with as many cuddly creatures as possible, this is the option for you!

Bear Cub Camp Critter

While moose, foxes, and squirrels are definitely of the woodland realm, we couldn’t forget the most famous forest resident of all — the bear! Or in this case, the bear cub! If you’d like to make it yours, it is available at the Freeze Tag Online Store as an individual product! That’s right, you can now have up to four different Camp Critter types bouncing around the map!

This new temporary POB (tPOB) will be available for purchase for $5 from now until 12:00 MHQ on Monday Aug 17th. Each player can purchase up to two Bear Cubs total.

Like the other Camp Critters, the Bear Cub is a temporary POB. Similar to the Baby Squirrel, it will bounce to both physical and virtual munzees. It will stay on the map until 23:59 MHQ on Sept 30, when it will be automatically archived on your account. If you’ve ever deployed a Butterfly or Frog Evolution munzee, these will behave similarly with a few exceptions.

  • Deploy: 500 points
  • Capture: 200 points
  • CapOn: 100 points

This cute little critter just loves to play! Tag, Hide-and-Seek, Duck Duck Goose — you name it! Enjoy playing with it now, while it’s still small and can’t knock you over with its sheer strength! It scampers to the following:

  • Treehouse
  • Greenie
  • Earth Mystery
  • Water Mystery
  • Skyland
  • All Virtual Colors
  • Air Mystery
  • Campground Places

Like the other Camp Critters, it will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a Bear Cub on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Bear Cub visits you. However, Bear Cubs are non-blastable. They will be attracted to either Physical Magnets or Virtual Magnets on their respective landing pads. You can access Bear Cubs under the “Only Expiring Specials” filter.

All players who purchase a Bear Cub will also receive the respective deploy badge shown below:

Capturing the Bear Cub will contribute progress towards the Camp Critters overall capture badge line as well! Check out the previous post about Camp Critters if you’d like a preview!

You’re Not Seeing Double — We’ve Got A New Badge Line For 20/20 Vision Munzees!

Ever since we released the 20/20 Vision Munzees at the start of this year, we’ve been promising a line of overall capture badges! We’re happy to announce that (1) no, we haven’t forgotten that promise and (2) they are finally a part of the game!

There are 6 capture badges to earn with art depicting all the different pairs of glasses you’ve seen before — and maybe some you haven’t! As mentioned above, these badges are for overall 20/20 Vision Munzee captures — not unique captures — so if you weren’t already motivated to capture the rare game pieces, we bet you are now! We won’t spoil all of the badges, but you can check out the first badge in the line below:

20/20 Eye Exam- capture one 20/20 Vision special of any type.

As these badge lines are retroactive, you may have already met the requirements for some of them, and should see them on your account soon! If not, please wait a few days as our system catches up with awarding these new badges to everyone who has earned them, before contacting support.

Camp Counselor Specials Are Making a Special Visit to a Munzee Near You!

While waiting to receive your nominations for Camp Counselors for July’s POTM, we needed somebody to hold down the fort at Camp Munzee in the meantime. Who better than our own AlternaMyths, who boast not only a keen understanding of the game (being part of it themselves) and a great rapport with MHQ staff, but also a deep connection with the great outdoors!

Free from their counseling duties at Camp Munzee, Camp Counselor specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until September 9 at 23:59 MHQ. You can use the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters to more easily view them on the map. Meet each of the counselors below!

Camp Counselors

There will be a total of 396 Camp Counselor Specials available for capture — that breaks down to 99 of each type. More Camp Counselors may emerge as the need arises for campers all over the world! These are attracted to both Physical or Virtual Magnets on their respective landing pads. These are officially tPOBs on the Munzee account and are not blastable.

While the Camp Counselors are certainly a part of Camp Munzee, capturing them will NOT earn your Camp points in our ongoing Camp Competition. We’re sticking to the water balloons and flags as outlined in our original post!

August 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost August! You’ll find all the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app.

It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to August 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19.  Updated July 29th — see below at Level 3 Individual

If Clan Wars won’t work for you this month we hope you will join us for ZeeOps which will be announced later this week!

Level 1

Individual

  • at least 7 days of activity

Clan: in addition to the above individual requirements

  • at least 100,000 total points
  • at least 250 deploy points
  • at least 250 evolution points
  • at least 50 Places captures
  • at least 500 weapon points
  • at least 25 Bouncer captures
  • at least 10 QRewzee captures

Rewards: 1 crossbow, 1 flat Rob, 1 magnet, 1 virtual magnet, 1 Stay Home card, 1 Clan War card

Level 2

August Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. Since there is NO Level X this month, there will be a total of 5 badges available in August. The first badge will appear as follows:

Novice Newbies: August 2020- Reached Level 1 in August 2020 Clan Wars

Overall Clan Notes:

Please keep in mind Levels 4 & 5 are considered advanced gameplay and not recommended for brand new players. Be aware when allowing new players to join your clans.

Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB)

*Mystery points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for ALL mystery types. (Mystery, Ice, Fire, Water, Earth, Electric, Air) — this does NOT include scatters from these types
**Clan War Card is a new limited edition greeting card. It will follow all the same points and rules as other Limited Edition greeting cards.

Physical points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for ALL Physical types.
Deploy points are for all types excluding Personals.
Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.
Flat friends points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for flat Rob, flat Matt, flat Lou, and flat Hammock. Fancy Flat Rob and Fancy Flat Matt are NOT included in flat friends points.

Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal will not count for Physical points of any sort. It is not a true physical munzee.

Hints for how to play during Stay Home orders:
Use the swap feature for brand new virtual deploys.
Use the online map to deploy virtuals worldwide or find gardens to deploy in on social media groups.
Watch the online store for sales during the month to help meet your goals.
Use evolution reset credits to get new CapOn points from OLD deploys (they do NOT count as new deploys)

And finally, be responsible. If your local government, your health, or any circumstances require you to Stay Home – DO NOT participate. It is up to each of us to determine what is safe and what is allowed. This is a game and not worth risking your own live or the lives of others.
