New Virtual and Virtual Emerald Gardens

We’ve received a lot of questions and suggestions regarding gardens recently, so we want to address some and make a few announcements.

Emerald Gardens

Because Emerald Gardens are special release, we realize that not everyone is within close proximity to them. We are adding 5 Emerald Gardens to the map starting today at 15:00 CST. These pins are available for purchase at http://store.munzee.com/products/emerald-garden-pin and are limited in number. These locations, which are listed in the store description, have been suggested to us as hotspots for activity. We’ve added them to give more people the ability to take advantage of them for Double Point Weekend.

NOTE: There are a limited number of pins available. There is NO limit on the number of Virtual Emeralds you can buy, so please be courteous of other players.

Virtual Gardens

As we’ve said before, growing and maintaining our community is our focus for this year. A large part of this initiative is helping and encouraging the expansion of smaller and new areas. One of the ways we will be doing this will be placing virtual gardens in these areas. Over the course of the year, we will be deploying gardens all over the world. If you’d like to submit a location for a possible garden, you can go here.

Introducing the Virtual Resort!

We’re happy to introduce the Virtual Resort to the Destination line of Munzees! It will be joining the Motel and Hotel in this line, following a similar structure of points and rules.

The Virtual Resort will be deployed via the Munzee app (not the website), just like the other members of the Destination line. It is virtual game piece.

Proximity: A Virtual Resort must be at least 3500 feet (~1065 meters) away any other resort.

Rooms: There are 15 rooms available in the Virtual Resort.

Deploy: 50 points

Capture: Ranges from 15 points (no rooms filled yet) to 90 (all 15 rooms filled).

CapOn: Ranges from 3 points to 50/42/39/…/6/3 when all 15 rooms are filled.

Release: The Virtual Resort will be a MunzPak exclusive for the month of February. Each MunzPak subscriber will receive five (5) Virtual Resorts with their MunzPak. It will be available for purchase on March 1st.

Full information about the Virtual Resort will be available on www.munzee.com/types upon initial release.

NOTE: If you’re not currently a MunzPak subscriber, you still have time to get in this month! You can subscribe now to receive this month’s MunzPak and change your billing date on February 1st to be one of the first to get the new Virtual Resort! Don’t miss out! The New Munzee Store is Live!

Despite a few hiccups, the soft opening for the new Munzee online store was a success. After bug fixes and product additions, we’re pleased to announce that the new store is online! Moving forward, this will be the full-time Munzee online store. There are a few things to take notice of:

The new store URL is munzeestore.myshopify.com. The old URL (store.munzee.com) will redirect you to the new store, and the old store is no longer active.
The new store also includes Eventzee, Runzee, and WallaBee merchandise. When you check out, you are asked for you Munzee/WallaBee username. If you are buying products for both games and have different usernames for them, we suggest you make two separate orders to make sure that the items are awarded to the correct accounts.
If you have a discount code or gift certificate for the old store, please email support@munzee.com to get a replacement for use in the new store. Gift certificates and discount codes awarded before today WILL NOT work in the new store.
If you have an issue or question about your orders in the new store, please use the contact form located on the store website or email support@munzee.com.

Our goal with the new Munzee store is to provide you with new, exciting products (both gameplay and merchandise). If you have suggestions or want to see something new in the store, email iloveyou@munzee.com, and we’ll see what we can do!

Munzee Fitness Challenge Winners

Last week we announced the Munzee Fitness Challenge in conjunction with the release of Munzee 3.1 and the introduction of Munzee Fitness. All you had to do was deploy a minimum of 60 greenies over the weekend, and you were entered to win a Fitbit Flex or gift cards to the Munzee Store.

We had over 80 people complete the challenge, totaling over 5000 greenie deploys. The usernames of the players who completed the challenge were put in a pot, and the three winners were chosen at random. They will be contacted shortly regarding their prizes.

Server Migrations

As we move forward and grow the game, we want to provide you with the best experience possible. We all found out at the beginning of the year how frustrating server downtime is, and we want to prevent that from happening in the future. We’ve mentioned before that we would be looking into alternative ways of hosting our game and services, and the time has come to take action.

Tomorrow, January 26th, we will be moving our Munzee services to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This move will begin at 18:00 MHQ time and will last roughly 3 hours (until 21:00 MHQ time). Though we don’t expect any downtime during this transition, sporadic outages are possible. If there are issues and you are unable to continue streaks or other achievements, please email support@munzee.com and we will ensure that those are taken care of.

This move will consist of Munzee and Eventzee gameplay services. The blog website has already been moved over, so updates regarding the move tomorrow will be posted here and on social media.

Munzee with Team Munzee

As part of our mission statement and theme for this year, we’re introducing a new activity. On the last Friday of every month, Team Munzee is going to get back to our roots and community. We will be going out and playing Munzee as a team. We invite players in the area to come join us on our adventures.

Our first Munzee with Team Munzee day will be next Friday, January 29th. We will be in Frisco, Texas from 9:15-11:15 MHQ time. You can find all of the information on the calendar and can let us know if you’ll be joining us!

Each month we will add the event to the Munzee Calendar and promote it on the blog an social media. We hope you can join us!

The Christmas Parties Are Beginning!

So here we are, it’s December! The Munzee Christmas Parties start tomorrow. We are very excited about everything planned. What a fantastic Munzee Community we have. There are 24 events just in the next 7 days! Don’t forget to check the calendar at https://calendar.munzee.com/ to see if there is one near you! If there isn’t, don’t worry, it’s not too late to host one yourself. Add it to the calendar or contact me directly at louise@munzee.com if you are having difficulties.

I have some important information relating to some of the features of the Christmas Parties, these two points are for all attendees to all parties:

Be sure to capture the Event Indicator Munzee at the event you attend. Your host has the code. This not only gives you the Event Indicator special icon, it will also give you the Christmas Party Attendee badge and a little surprise from Father Christmas.
Be sure to wear your best festive gear if you would like a chance at winning the Dodgy Jumper competition. Hosts will be submitting a player name and photo after the event. That player and the hosts will get the Dodgy Jumper badge. Hosts: just because you will be getting the badge for nominating someone else doesn’t mean you don’t have to make an effort!

Most events have taken the Lucky Dip option. This is a $20 add on that turns a specified Munzee into a magic Munzee that gives a credit item from the past, present or future every time it is capped. If you would like to add this to your event, please let me know ASAP.

Lastly, I would like to thank you all for your support with events. Your enthusiasm and efforts involved in them as hosts and attendees is fantastic and I look forward to growing the game, the map and the community even more with you all. Have a wonderful time this month and I can’t wait to hear all about it and see all those dodgy pictures!!

Weekend Update

Hello everyone. This is just a quick update to let you know our plans for Monday. Due to the holidays and the weekend we have not had the chance to confirm all items in time for 10am MHQ sales. We will delay the sales until ~3pm MHQ time which allows most players worldwide a better timing and opportunity. Thank you for understanding as we’ve made several changes over the past several days.
Additional information will be available prior to 3pm tomorrow. The goal is 10-11am for an informational post about Cyber Munzday sales. My current thoughts are sale prices on many current items, the release of the limited edition unicorn munzee (hard programmed to only award 1 per account), and the release of the surprise munzee. Surprise munzee will only be available after more conversations in the morning if it is ready to launch fully. Other items may be included or removed based on our ability to provide the best quality and service.
Thanks again for your patience and I hope you enjoyed the prizes the past few days. We are thankful for everyone who plays Munzee. The prizes end at 10am MHQ time Monday. — Rob

Holiday Season Plans

Well, the holiday season is upon us. For the MHQ team, that means a lot of travelling. Below is a list of events you should be aware of.

American Thanksgiving

The MHQ staff (including Rob) will be out of the office from Wednesday, November 25th through Sunday, November 29th. That means Flat Robs will be back on the map during those days!

Christmas Parties

The amount of Christmas parties on the schedule is amazing, and we can’t wait to see the results of them! Rob and Matt will be travelling to events during December.
- Rob will be attending “Capping the Coast” during the first weekend of December! If you’re in the Florida area,or just want to have a good time, make sure you join!
- Matt will be attending “Metro Vancouver Post Holiday Cap’ing” on December 27th. It’s the first official Munzee visit to Vancouver, so if you’re in the Pacific Northwest and can make it, he’d love to meet you all!

Christmas and New Year’s Plans

MHQ staff will be out of the office for some days during December to spend time with their families for Christmas and the new year. We’ll provide more details about those dates (and when you’ll be able to catch Flat Rob on the map again) as we get closer.
