A Final Batch of NEW Greeting Cards for the Month!

This year, it’s been important to us to develop more products for our Authorized Resellers, who’ve done an amazing job making physical munzees more accessible to players all around the world! In February, we gave RUMs a much-needed update by creating a virtual version. In March, we created some fun variants on our line of Garden Gnomes themed around each Reseller! We didn’t want to let April pass by without another contribution!

We are happy to announce 4 NEW Greeting Cards are available for purchase! You can pick up Greeting Cards from our Authorized Resellers HERE. You receive multiple munzees from your single purchase. Read the details in the stores, or see below.

NEW Greeting Card Munzee Details

We have 4 new Limited Edition cards for your deploying pleasure!

While these may have visual similarities with the Virtual RUMs, don’t get confused! These Greeting Cards lack the brown paper packaging.

Don’t forget to edit the title and the notes to add a personal touch! While the capture message will contain your Munzee username as all Greeting Card capture messages do, we think typing in a more specific note will go a long way to creating a more unique and special experience!

This brings the current lineup of Greeting Cards available for purchase to the following:

  • Open Edition* (will always be available; ONE Purchase yields FOUR munzees)
    • Birthday
    • Get Well
    • Thank You
    • Congrats
    • Sorry / Sorry 1 / Sorry 2 / Sorry 3
    • Spring
    • Fall
    • Thinking of You
    • Knock Knock Joke
    • It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere
    • Wish I Was Here
    • Life Is Good
  • Limited Edition (will rotate depending on occasion; ONE Purchase yields THREE munzees)
    • Tech Issues (not available for sale)
    • March Into May Event (only available to March into May event hosts for their events)
    • Stay Home 2021
    • Picture Perfect (not available for sale)
    • May Flowers (until May 1)
    • GeoLoggers Reseller Card
    • Gold’n Coins Reseller Card
    • NEGS Reseller Card
    • SCGS Reseller Card

As a refresher, the point structure for Greeting Cards is as follows:

  • Open Edition
    • Deploy: 50
    • Capture: 40
    • CapOn: 25
  • Limited Edition
    • Deploy: 60
    • Capture: 50
    • CapOn: 30

Remember that these munzees will be archived 7 days after they are deployed, so make sure your intended recipient captures it before then!

For more information on the Greeting Cards, you can check out our Help Guide article.

Munzee on!

*Please note that we have combined all Open Edition cards into a single product on the FT Store. Moving forward all new Open Edition cards for sale will show up in this product, and you can choose which type of card you would like there. You can purchase all Open Edition cards HERE!

April Garden Gnome Reminder + May Preview!

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into May with your desired Garden Gnomes! The skin for completing your April capture streak (and the corresponding badge) will be awarded in early May, but we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store!

April Garden Gnome Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Garden Gnome yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $9.

Each month, the price of a Garden Gnome will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Garden Gnome every 28 days.

If you’re planning to complete the capture streaks for each month (and made the initial purchase in January) you’ll have 12 different skins to choose from! So be sure to purchase one each month so you can have a complete bench of these athletic Garden Gnomes!

We also released special Reseller Garden Gnomes in March — if you’re interested, you can check out our blog post on them HERE!

May Garden Gnome Details

What Gnome Skin can you look forward to receiving in May? The agile Soccer Garden Gnome! Like the other gnomes, the Soccer Garden Gnome is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on December 31.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to have completed this month’s (April’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in May, you can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our original blog post for the instructions!

Points

  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 300

You can find these cleat-clad competitors rushing to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Soccer Garden Gnome will scatter up to 3 NEW Gnome Header Hats nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Gnome Hats, the Gnome Header Hat will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Gnome owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These hat scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Gnome Hats are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

The Soccer Garden Gnome will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Soccer Garden Gnomes on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Soccer Garden Gnome visits you. Soccer Garden Gnomes are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Soccer Garden Gnomes by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Gnomes have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more gnomes you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned gnome!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many gnomes as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Soccer Garden Gnome:

We hope you don’t slip on wet grass while earning May’s Gnome Skin! Don’t forget to keep your streak up through May — you’ll need to in order to earn the June Gnome Skin!

April 2021 GOTM Winners

We kicked off the month with an explosion of April Fools’ Day pranks: fake filters, a fake Runzee splash screen, fake products in the Freeze Tag Store and the In-App Store, and a few other tricks you may or may not have noticed… We also had a few real items to enjoy, which were the Jack In ZEE Box tPOB and the Bag of Tricks and Sack of Surprises MOBs.

Other important happenings include the change in Egyptian Zodiac artifacts, the release of QRates and Cubimals, Roverhaul Part 2, and two rounds of new Greeting Cards (here and here).

We are now happy to announce the winners of the April Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded in early May, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

April GOTM

We certainly had fun planning all the pranks for April Fools’ Day, so we chose the first garden shown below as it fit the theme perfectly! The second garden was chosen for its gorgeous use of color and timely subject matter. Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the North Carolina Jester Hat Garden, designed by markcase, and the Kameleontti Garden, designed by RePe, tcguru, and kilpertti as our winning April GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

North Carolina Jester Hat by markcase in Burlington, NC

It also reminds us of our Harlequin Clown MOB that was bouncing around on our 7th Birthday!

This garden reminded us of all the April Fools’ Day shenanigans we had going on this year! Doesn’t it look like Jack In ZEE Box‘s hat?

Kameleontti by RePe, tcguru, and kilpertti in Raisio, Finland

Did this chameleon land on top of a box of Fruit Loops or something? Whatever the case, the color combinations are lovely and show off the range of Virtual Colors well!

We had pets on the brain this month with our Cubimals release and the latest Roverhaul update, and out of the animal-themed gardens yet to receive an award, this colourful chameleon took the cake!

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Based on your feedback, we’ve created a Google Form where you can submit GOTM nominations — here’s the link: https://forms.gle/SjUQeRxdi5FT81pCA

We’ll still check the iloveyou@munzee.com inbox for stragglers, but please try to send your submissions to this new Google Form instead. Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

Munzee on!

P.S. Are you looking for POTM requirements? Remember that last year, we announced that we were holding off on POTM for now as we develop a new way to highlight our unique player base!

The Return of Earth Day Greeting Cards and More!

Last week we announced some additions to our Open Edition card lineup — but we had a few more waiting in the wings, which we thought would be perfect to accompany the re-release of the Earth Day Cards!

We are happy to announce 4 NEW Greeting Cards — 3 are available for purchase, while 1 must be earned! You can pick up Greeting Cards from the Freeze Tag Online Store HERE. You receive multiple munzees from your single purchase. Read the details in the store, or see below.

NEW Greeting Card Munzee Details

We have 2 new Open Edition cards* and 2 new Limited Edition cards for your deploying pleasure!

If you’re an armchair traveler, deploy some munzees at places you’d like to visit with a Wish I Was Here Card!

Maybe, despite all the craziness of last year, you feel content as the people you care about are safe. You can express that with a Life Is Good Card!

Proud of someone who’s been doing their best to stay safe? Send them a NEW Stay Home 2021 Card!

And lastly — from time to time we’ll award Picture Perfect Cards to players who add photos to certain munzee types!

Don’t forget to edit the title and the notes to add a personal touch! While the capture message will contain your Munzee username as all Greeting Card capture messages do, we think typing in a more specific note will go a long way to creating a more unique and special experience!

Roverhaul Part 2!

Last month, Rover gained a cool new ability to dig up Jewel Shards while accompanying you on Jewel-capping sessions! We hinted that that was only the first part of Rover’s planned upgrades, so we’re excited to reveal the second part to you now!

Another Trick in Rover’s Toolkit!

When you feed Rover a Rover Treat, your capture radius for virtual scattered munzees* (i.e. Feathers, Gnome Hats, etc.) and Amethysts will be doubled or raised to a minimum of 500 ft for one capture! For example, if the munzee normally requires a capture radius of 300 ft, it will be doubled to 600 ft. And if the munzee normally requires a capture radius of 150 ft, it will be raised to the minimum of 500 ft.

At launch Rover will only help you capture the aforementioned types, however he may be trained to chase other types in the future.

You’ll only see the option to feed Rover a treat if you:

  1. Have a Rover with you AND
  2. Try to capture a virtual scattered munzee or Amethyst that is too far away

This flow should prevent you from wasting Rover Treats, and also ensure that the popup won’t be too disruptive during normal play!

Premium players will receive 1 Rover Treat during this launch! Otherwise, you can pick up Rover Treats in the In-App Store for 40 Zeds, or get a pack of 10 Rover Treats in the Freeze Tag Store for $3.

Rovers Now Available In-App!

If you checked out the In-App Store upon reading the previous paragraph, you most likely noticed another item sitting beside the Rover Treats — that’s right, Rovers are now available in the In-App Store!

As we continue to refine and improve the Munzee app, expect more Rover-related news!

Munzee on!

*Unfortunately, Charge Munzees (scatters that land on another munzee) and MOB scatters (scatters that come from munzees that land on another munzee) are excluded from this, but as stated above, this may change in the future!

Play a Round of Disc Golf With Robbie’s Flat Object!

In February, we introduced the first Flat Object, the Flat DHS! We loved the fun personal touch Dylan gave to his namesake game piece, and when it comes to creativity, Dylan is a hard act to follow. The rest of the MHQ staff has been using their spare moments thoughtfully designing their own Flat Object, so we hope you keep an eye out for them as they are released!

The second Flat Object is brought to you by Robbie, our indispensable Project Manager! If you’re a WallaBee player, Robbie is certainly a familiar face, but lately Robbie’s also been deeply involved in Munzee as well! For those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know him, or would like a refresher, you can check out his most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

Robbie’s Flat Object features another outdoor hobby of his — disc golf! Whether you’re an avid disc golf player yourself or have never had the opportunity, the all new Flat Disc Golf Basket game piece should be easy to play with for all skill levels. Read on to learn more!

Flat Disc Golf Basket Details

The Flat Disc Golf Basket joins the Flats as a virtual type. It is currently available in the Freeze Tag Store HERE!

Capture Radius: 300 feet, blastable

Proximity: 50 feet from other players’ Flats, 150 feet from your own.

Deploy: 19 points

Capture: Split 90 points with a minimum of 19 Points

CapOn: Split 90 points with a minimum of 19 Points

To access the Flat Disc Golf Basket munzee, turn on your “Virtual – Flats” filter or “All Flat Types” filter. For more information on Flats, you can check out our Help Guide article.

Badges

There are badge lines for deploying and capturing the Flat Disc Golf Basket, which feature some Munzee-fied versions of disc golf gear. You can see the first of each below!

In-App Store Update!

Flat Rob, Flat Lou, the Flat DHS, and the Flat Disc Golf Basket are also now available for purchase in the In-App Store! The former two will cost 450 Zeds, while the latter two will cost 500 Zeds.

We hope you enjoy playing disc golf and learning a bit more about Robbie in the process! We also respectfully request that when referring to this game piece, please don’t shorten it to “Flat Basket” — Robbie thinks it makes him sound like a “basket case.” ?

Save The Cubimals From Their Physical Prisons!

Players, we need your help! Earlier in the month, when the Baby Animals traveled by ferry from WallaBee to Munzee, they brought some stowaways. Unbeknownst to staff, the stowaways crawled into some prototype storage containers before they were sealed. And while we were planning on bringing those stowaways into the game to celebrate the upcoming National Pet Day, we never intended for them to be trapped inside QRates, which are tough to open from the inside. Are you up to the task of freeing them?

QRates and QRowbars

If so, first, you’ll need to find a QRate. At this time, there is a chance they’ll be found while capturing Greenies. However, this is certainly subject to change in the future!

Once you’ve got a QRate, you can find it in the Inventory section of your Profile, as shown below:

So that this new task isn’t overwhelming, you’ll only be able to work on 1 QRate at a time, unless you are a Premium member — then you’ll get 1 extra slot! This limit may change in the future.

Premium members also have the option of trashing a QRate once a day. This should be helpful if you are trying to find a rarer QRate (more info on that below!) or if you want to quickly free up a slot should we have special limited-time QRates in the future.

To unlock the QRate, you’ll either need to capture or deploy more physical munzees. Updated info post launch: Capturing bouncers/scatters on some physical munzees including greenies will also fulfill requirements. You can speed up the process by applying a QRowbar to the QRate, which will reduce the requirements by 25%. You can apply up to 3 QRowbars to each QRate, bringing the total reduction to 75%!

Premium members will find that we’ve added 6 QRowbars to their accounts, and they’ll get 1 every month afterwards as long as their Premium membership is active! Non-premium players will find 3 QRowbars added to their accounts. If you need more QRowbars, they cost 50 Zeds each. You can buy them by tapping on the [Use QRowbar] button at the bottom if you don’t have any, or by heading to the In-App Store!

Once you’ve fulfilled the QRate’s requirements, you will receive the prize inside! You can expect to receive either a Cubimal (more info on that below!), Booster, or other Credits. There are currently 3 different types of QRates, with different prize pools for each. The standard QRate was shown earlier, so you can see what the other two look like below:

Like the standard QRate, the Gold and Diamond QRates can only potentially be found when capturing greenies for now.

Cubimals

These are the aforementioned stowaways! If you’re a WallaBee player, you may recognize these distinctly-shaped characters from the The Cubimal Racing League and Cubimals 2: Trophy Hunt sets.

Currently there are 9 different Cubimals trapped inside QRates for you to collect. Unfortunately, we’ve only confirmed the identities of 3 of them so far:

We suspect that the remaining 6 share the characteristic of being similar to real-life pets. Keep an eye out for future announcements — we’re sure that the other Cubimals will follow their lead and turn up in QRates later on!

You’ll find a record of the Cubimals you’ve saved in the Achievements area of the app! We thought this area made sense as they are a collection of sorts, much like their WallaBee counterparts.

It is possible to receive duplicates of Cubimals. You can see how many of each Cubimal you’ve rescued by tapping on it and scrolling to the bottom of the popup, as shown above.

If you’re into the physical game, we hope this new mechanic adds just the right amount of spice to what you already enjoy! Otherwise, if you are more of a virtual player, we hope you give QRate cracking a try and rescue some Cubimals in the process!

NEW Filters Allow You To Explore Like Never Before!

With the myriad munzee types out there, using Filters is a must to make the most of your time. After all, one of our mottos is “Play your way”, and you may not be interested in ALL munzee types.

We also know that many of our players have multiple hobbies related to being outdoors. So, to make things even more convenient for you, we’ve started a NEW line of filters that should make it easier to engage in some of those hobbies at the same time as Munzee! There are only 2 to start, but keep an eye out for more filter announcements in the future!

The Metal Detector Mode filter will show the location of buried metal artifacts up to 8 ft deep. Please note that this filter’s accuracy is dependent on the size of the artifact and your distance from it. A wrench buried at a depth of 2 ft will have a much more accurate location than a paper clip that is at a depth of 6 ft.

The Paranormal Mode filter will show the location of ghosts as they take on a corporeal form. Please note that this filter’s accuracy is dependent on the strength of the ghost’s spirit. Older ghosts tend to be weaker as they begin to forget their purpose for haunting the Earth.

You’ll find the Metal Detector Mode filter in the Physical tab, the Paranormal Mode filter in the Virtual tab, and both in the Premium tab, as you can see in the screenshots below:

We hope these colorful new filters enhance your app experience!
