Talk Like A Pirate Day Specials And More!

ARGHHHHHH! Wednesday September 19th be “Talk Like A Pirate Day” and ye better be ready to walk the plank!

Come Sail Away:

We’re excited to announce that from 00:01 MHQ on September 17 until 23:59 MHQ September 23 Pirate Ship specials will be sailing across the map!

In case you didn’t know, the current version of the Munzee app has the ability to set your in-app language to Pirate. This fun feature unfortunately will be walking the plank in version 4.0 though so we wanted to send it off in style.

500 Cargo Ship specials will bounce on Greenies every 6 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets and you’ll earn 45 points for Capture and 45 points for CapOn.

500 Treasure Ship specials will bounce on RUMs, Premium, and Physical Jewel Munzees every 6 hours or when captured. These will NOT be attracted to magnets and you’ll earn 45 points for Capture and 45 points for CapOn.

500 Ghost Ship virtual specials will bounce on MVMs, Emerald, and Amethyst Munzees every 6 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Munzee Magnets and you’ll earn 45 points for Capture and 45 points for CapOn.

Ye landlubbers want badges, aye?! Well the west wind seems to be blowing your way!

There are a variety of badges you can earn for capturing Talk Like A Pirate Day Specials and these will also count toward the Specials Badges. There are a total of six badges you can earn throughout the allotted Specials timeframe. We’ll show you the three for capping each of the different Special types, but you’ll have to discover the other three* yourselves!

Brilliant Booty:

If it’s treasure ye want, you don’t need a map to find it!

The Freeze Tag Online Store has a Pirate Pack for luring out stranded sailors as well as a new Pirate Personal Tag too. Per usual these are in limited quantity so get yours before they run out! Read the details on the Pirate Pak to find out how to get a free diamond credit when you use “WalkThePlank” as a discount code!

In order to help ye quest for these Pirate pins, we are also changing up how you can purchase Munzee Magnets. A Magnet reset will take place Monday at 10:00 MHQ and moving forward players will be able to purchase up to 10 Magnets every 10 days. This will count for both Physical and Virtual Magnets, and it doesn’t matter when the last time you bought Magnets is; the reset will wipe your record clean as of Monday.

All Hands On Deck:

In order to up the ante for our worldwide crew of Pirates, we’re also excited to introduce two community challenges!

First, if our worldwide community is able to capture a collective 1,500 Pirate Ship specials of all three kinds, collectively, in the first 48 hours of setting sail, we will release a new Mythological Munzee next week! To sweeten the pot, the first 1,500 Pirate Ship special captures will be entered into a drawing to win one of the new Myths for FREE.

Second, if the community can capture a total of 15,000 Pirate Ship specials before they leave the map, you’ll unlock double points on Flats for a weekend in October! We won’t spill the beans on when exactly that is just yet, but it’s sure to be a scary good time. For reference, just over 13,000 bacon specials were captured in our most recent special icon fun! Everyone will have to work together to earn this special reward!

LegaZeeOps- Operation: Star Seeker

Agents, ZeeOps HQ’s system has been hacked and all of our files on past missions have been erased! You’ll have to recreate past Operations in what we’re calling LegaZeeOps. It’s up to you to keep the legacy of this organization in tact. The missions for this month are the same that were previously available in February 2018’s Operations.

Agents, more and more Zodiac symbols are showing up across the world. Although the motive matches the Zodiac Vigilante, something seems different about these. The secret organization The Rising Sons are also looking for the Zodiac Vigilante, which makes finding him even more important.

Although the masked man is prophesied to be the group’s leader he has shirked his destiny- something the Sons are none too pleased about. It’s imperative we reach the Vigilante before they do. By capturing and deploying Zodiac Munzees we are confident that we can study his deployment patterns and can triangulate his location.

September 2018 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. 

Since the focus of this month’s Operations is so celestial you’ll want to stock up on Zodiac stickers and credits.

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the new* “LegaZeeOps- Operation: Star Seeker” badge.

*Due to requests from the community all LegaZeeOps badges will now be different from the badge earned during the initial run of the month’s Operations. So players who earned the “Operation: Star Seeker” badge in February 2018 can earn also earn the “LegaZeeOps- Operation: Star Seeker” badge as well by completing a September 2018 Operation. All players who completed an Operation last month (August 2018) will also be retroactively awarded the “LegaZeeOpps- Operation: Evolution” badge as well.

This month’s Missions are as follows:

LEVEL 1:
Basic Training + – Earn at least 1,000 points.
Defensive Training– Deploy at least 10 munzees.
Offensive Training– Capture at least 25 munzees.
Star Studies I– Capture at least 10 Zodiac Munzees
Star Studies II- Deploy at least 5 Zodiac Munzees

LEVEL 2:
Group Training + – Earn at least 1,000 cap-on points.
Virtual Surreality– Capture at least 100 virtual munzees of any type.
Star Seekers– Deploy at least 10 Zodiac Munzees.
Marks Of Mystery– Capture at least 15 Zodiac Munzees.
Son Set– Capture at least 10 and deploy at least 5 Zodiac Munzees.

LEVEL 3:
Advanced Training– Earn at least 10,000 points.
Always Aware– Deploy at least 50 physical munzees of any type.
Constellation Copycat– Capture at least 20 Zodiac Munzees
Curiosity and The Cat– Deploy at least 15 Zodiac Munzees
Son Spotters– Capture at least 15 and deploy at least 10 Zodiac Munzees

LEVEL 4:
Expert Training– Earn at least 50,000 points.
Celestial Cat and Mouse– Capture at least 35 Zodiac Munzees
Moonlighting– Deploy at least 25 Zodiac Munzees
Son Down – Capture at least 25 and deploy at least 20 Zodiac Munzees
Telescopic Teamwork– Capture at least 250 physical munzees of any type

Completing Operations will give you some hard earned rewards as well.

Howdy Munzeers!

We have been avidly working on the latest version of Munzee and want to get your feedback. To ensure that this is the best experience for all of you, we’re doing things a bit differently than we have in the past.

We invite you to participate in a closed beta to provide us feedback and help us improve the app before we launch to the public. We have a very limited number of spots to accept testers. Please note that although you may have tested a version of the Munzee app in the past, that does not lock your spot on this beta test.

Please sign up using this Google Form to be entered into the random lottery for our beta groups. We will contact you if you have been selected. This application form will close on Tuesday September 4, 2018.

September Flat Schedule

But first some information about Real Louise and Flat Lou!

Flat Lou has not been sold for the month of August while we worked out a change to where our donation will be directed due to a special event! From August 29 through September 5 each Flat Lou sold will include a donation of $0.25 to The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). We’ve donated to *MNDA in the past and due to the special circumstances of this upcoming weekend we are excited to donate to them again. You can purchase Flat Lous in the Freeze Tag Online Store HERE.

Be on the lookout for double points on all Flat Lou activity August 31 through September 3. She is representing Great Britain at the Gran Fondo World Championships in Italy on Sunday. Her race begins at 8am and is 135 km long and 1950 m of elevation gain. It will be a tough day for her, but we know she can do it! Good luck Lou!

*About motor neurone disease (MND) and the MND Association:

  • MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.
  • It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. MND does not usually affect the senses such as sight, sound, feeling etc.
  • It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe.
  • It affects people from all communities.
  • It kills around 30% of people within a year of diagnosis, and 50% within 21 months.
  •  A person’s lifetime risk of developing MND is up to 1 in 300.
  • Six people per day are diagnosed with MND in the UK.
  • It affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time.
  • It kills six people per day in the UK, this is just under 2,200 per year
  • It has no cure. The MND Association was founded in 1979 by a group of volunteers with experience of living with, or caring for, someone with MND. Since then, we have grown significantly, with an ever-increasing community of volunteers, supporters and staff, all sharing the same goal – to support people with MND and everyone who cares for them, both now and in the future.
  • We improve care and support for people with MND, their families and carers.
  • We fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments and brings us closer to a cure for MND.

Bacon Day 2018 Specials and Evolution Munzee Point Increase!

Are you ready to celebrate six degrees of Bacon? We’re excited to announce that from 00:01 MHQ on August 28th until 23:59 MHQ on September 2nd all manner of pork product Specials will be bouncing around the map!

If you happened to be playing Munzee in 2013 you might remember our first Bacon Day special, but this time around we’re switching things up a bit. For instance, did you know that Bacon is different in other parts of the globe? In order to appeal to bacon lovers across the world we will have two physical specials:

888 “American-style” Bacon Specials will bounce* on Greenies every 6 hours or when captured. These sizzling specials will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets and you’ll earn 45 points for Capture and 45 points for CapOn.

999 “International-style” Bacon Specials will bounce* on Greenies and Premium Munzees every 6 hours or when captured. These slightly different slices of bacon will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets on Greenies and you’ll earn 40 points for Capture and 40 points for CapOn.

*Please note that both American and International Bacon Specials will bounce worldwide and will not be limited to specific regions. 

In additions to the precious pork products there will also be 777 Flying Pig Virtual Specials floating to MVMs every 6 hours or when captured. These soaring swine specials will be attracted to Virtual Munzee Magnets and you’ll earn 50 points for Capture and 50 points for CapOn.

Per usual there are a variety of badges you can earn for capturing Bacon Day Specials and these will also count toward the Specials Badges. There are a total of six badges you can earn throughout the allotted Specials timeframe. We’ll show you the three for capping each of the different Special types, but you’ll have to discover the the other three yourselves!

We also have some new sets of porky Personal Tags available in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Per usual these are in limited quantity so get yours before they run out!

Please note that these Bacon Day Specials are different than the Pig Evolution Munzee line from the Farm Set, which also includes a Bacon level. We’re celebrating all forms of Bacon though, so we’re excited to announce that we’re updating the points on ALL Evolution Munzees as well! The point increase will go live at the same time the specials do and is for all Physical and Virtual Evos except the Golden Carrot, which was already increased earlier this month.

The new points will be as follows:

Level 1: 
Deploy: 20
Cap: 20
CapOn: 10

Level 2:
Deploy: N/A
Cap:  35
CapOn: 20

Level 3:
Deploy: N/A
Cap: 50
CapOn: 30

That’s not all though! In connection to the point increase we will also reset ALL Evolution Munzees back to Level One.  Please note that this will not allow other players to re-cap these munzees again, but the earlier stages will be available to players who have not capped that particular stage. The reset will go live with the point increase at 00:01 MHQ on August 28th as well.

So if you’ve stockpiled Evos, now is the time to get those deployed! Sticking to the theme we’d suggest capping and deploying a handful of Farm Set Evos if you have them. To help out we’ve also put together some Evo Packs which are available in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

World Photo Day Contest Winners!

World Photo Day 2018 has come and gone, but we still have some winners to announce! We asked our players to submit photos they took when playing Munzee using #WorldPhotoDay and #MunzeeOn and WOW we had a lot of great submissions. Announcing World Photo Day Specials!

Say cheese!

We’re excited to announce new Camera Specials in celebration of World Photo Day on Sunday August 19! The Specials will be on the map starting August 17 at 00:01 MHQ and will last until August 20 at 23:59 MHQ.

2,009 Camera Specials will bounce on Greenies and Premium Munzees every 6 hours or when captured. The Camera Specials will also be attracted to Magnets on greenies. Players will be able to capture these on their own Greenies and Premium Munzees as well.

Points:  

  • Capture: 100
  • CapOn: 20 on Greenie
  • CapOn: 70 on Premium

Per usual there will be a badge for capping one of the specials, but you never know what other badges you could earn. Since these are CAMERA specials there will also be another special badge you can earn by uploading pictures to munzees throughout the weekend. Remember that placing pictures on munzees is a Premium feature, so this badge will only be able to be earned if you have a Premium Membership.

You can purchase a Premium Membership and Magnets in the Freeze Tag Online Store. We also have a limited number of World Photo Day Personal Tags in the store as well.

What would World Photo Day be without photos though? We want to see your best Munzee photos throughout the weekend on social media. Upload photos you take when playing Munzee using #WorldPhotoDay and #MunzeeOn to be eligible. One winners will be chosen from each of our three social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and awarded those prizes by the end of next week. We will also have prizes for three photos placed on munzees in the app through the weekend. These winners will also be chosen by the end of next week.

Nomad and RUM Point Updates!

Rover, wanderer, nomad, vagabond, call him what you will…

We call them the Nomad Munzees and they are a big part of our game. Recently we updated the number of Nomads bouncing around our worldwide map. We’re excited to announce that starting NOW we have updated the number of points you receive from capturing one of these elusive little wanderers.

Mystery Nomads will split 500 points between Capture and CapOn.

Regular Nomads, Virtual Nomads, Jewel Thief Nomads, Bellhop Nomads, Pirate Nomads, and Warrior Nomads will all give 500 Capture points and 250 CapOn points.

Do you have trouble collecting these Nomads? Are you interested in building a Nomad landing pad in your area? Today we’ve created a special Nomad Pak that contains all of the options (except clan weapons) for the different Nomads to land on.

Letter From Zee Prez

Howdy Munzeers!

It’s time for a quick update on the overall progress and direction of Munzee! Over the past few months we’ve made some changes to the game and been working behind the scenes on a new version of the app. While I don’t have all of the details to share with you today I’d like to give you some information to help you know where we are headed.

As we move toward the 4.0 version of the Munzee app we are preparing many things behind the scenes. One of those is a much needed update to the point structure. In the beginning there was one type of Munzee, affectionately nicknamed the greenie. Other types were added over time with each becoming more and more valuable. The greenie sat in the shadows even though it is the cornerstone to the game. I want you to know that we have a plan for greenie points and it’s going to be rolled out soon. We love the greenie as much as you do and want to return the cornerstone to it’s place in the sun! In the meantime we will continue to update the point structure of many other types. You may notice the majority of point updates have happened to physical Munzee types. There is a purpose behind that as we know physical gameplay accomplishes our goals to get people active and moving. You will see us continue to drive the physical portion of the game forward since it is the majority of deploys worldwide, and always will be. Thanks for your patience during this big point update project.

Munzee 4.0 is a very large project as well. We aren’t quite ready to put it in the hands of beta testers yet, but we are feeling good about the progress through our alpha testing recently. The app is getting a complete makeover while the functionality you’ve come to expect will remain intact. The core gameplay is our focus while we also cleanup many side menus and organize features in a better way. We think you’re really going to enjoy it and can’t wait to get it out there in the field being tested. Stay tuned for more updates including information about beta testing and changes before the full launch of version 4.0.

I hope you’ve been participating in the variety of ways Munzee offers through gameplay options. We have events put on by players all of the world. Participate in Clan wars and join a group of 10 worldwide players to compete monthly in order to try and reach goals and win prizes. Recruiting for monthly clan wars is open on the 1st and 2nd of each month. You can also challenge yourself to complete our daily and weekly ZeeOps to earn prizes. We have plans to continue updating and evolving each of these interactive styles of gameplay after 4.0 launches and we can focus on each individually.

There are portions of the game you may think we’ve forgotten about, but believe me when I say that we have not. Munzee is huge and an intricate tapestry so we have to work on it one piece at a time currently! Remember our theme for the year? The Time Is Now! We remember and we’re working hard every day to make updates and keep things fresh. Please help us by growing the game and growing the map! The future of Munzee is so bright and we have so many great things in store. We can’t do any of this without our amazing Munzee community and we remember that fact daily. You are our focus.

The great ones might even make it into the game! I look forward to meeting some of you at upcoming events and interacting with others online!
