UPDATED Introducing the Event Virtual Trail

Updated January 16, 2019 with new distance and point information.

If you joined us in Denver for Birthday Bash, you may have noticed that the Virtual Trail that we put out looked a bit different. We used that event to test and refine a new type of trail for events: The Event Virtual Trail!

The Event Virtual Trail can be added as a part of events. It can have between 5 and 10 stages and has the same point structure for capturing as the regular virtual trails. There are a few key differences:

It can only be purchased as part of an official Munzee event.
Because it is an event-only munzee, there are no Deploy or CapOn points awarded.
Like other event munzees, Event Virtual Trails are archived at the conclusion of the event.
Regular virtuals can be converted in Virtual Event Trails.
The distance between stages is 500 feet, the same as normal Virtual Trail stages.

If you’re hosting an event soon and want to learn more about the Event Virtual Trail, Louise will be glad to help you!

The Event Trail credits are $15 for 5 stages and 10 stages for $20.

There are many uses for the Event Virtual Trail, and we can’t wait to see what you do with them! Munzee on!

Munzee With Team Munzee – August

Birthday Month was great, but we’re already looking forward to Lone Star Bash! Our Lone Star Bash Games event will be held at Gabe Nesbitt Park during Lone Star Bash weekend, so we figured we’d get ahead a bit. For August’s Munzee With Team Munzee, we’ll be going out to Gabe Nesbitt Park to fill the park for all of the visiting players (and get some of the capping in early)!

Munzee Calendar Update

As you may have noticed recently, there have been some changes to the Munzee Calendar page. Today, we pushed the biggest update to it yet.

Player of the Week: Matt Stenson (Matt99972)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Matt Stenson (Matt99972).

Who are you?
My name is Matt Stenson (Matt99972).

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Ilkseton which is in the East Midlands, UK.

How long have you played Munzee?
I started playing in February 2014.

How did you find Munzee?
I was walking the dog when I spotted a QR code pinned to a tree. I was intrigued, so I scanned it with my phone which took me to the Munzee website. I downloaded the app, and I was hooked.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I enjoy getting out and about, deploying long trails of physical munzees and then watching the CapOn points come in. When we’ve reached our cal target for the month, I also enjoy visiting some of the original Munzee trails in the countryside.

What is on your wish list?
I’d love to visit one of the big virtual fields in the world and see just how many points I could score in one day. I’m 2/3 of the way towards the Millionaire’s Club, so that is next on the wish list.

Tell us about yourself:
I am an accountant, so getting off my chair and getting exercise and fresh air is not something that I would usually do. I have a son, Quinn, who plays occasionally (Terrin) and an ever suffering partner, Jen, who comes along for the walk. When I first started playing, I was invited to join a Facebook group for local players and was made very welcome. Since then, our team (Munzee Team East Midlands) has grown to 6 full clans. Every month, everyone posts what level they think they will be able to achieve in the next month, and I organise everyone into the six clans. Sometimes, this can be quite a task, but the team works together and the admins in each clan do a great job. For a relatively small area, it’s amazing how many munzees we have deployed now (at the time of writing, we had the 20th biggest weapon cluster in the world).

Other hobbies include:
I discovered WallaBee when Munzee took over and have been hooked ever since. I try and play golf when the weather is nice, and during the winter, I work on my family tree.

Any last words?
It’s amazing to see how the game has evolved from when I first joined. I saw an old post the other day that reminded me that the first clan battle I took part in, there were only 4 levels and the “Chuck” was achieved by everyone in the clan scoring 2,500 points each, which at the time, seemed almost impossible!

Jewel Prize Packs and Emerald Sale

Last week, we announced that the Top 100 Clans from July would receive Jewel Prize Packs and that during the month of August, a clan would be chosen at random every day to receive a prize pack. We’ve got some more information for you on those plus the Emerald sale.

Top 100 Clans
Each member of the top 100 clans from last month was awarded a prize pack this morning. This pack included 3 Diamond credits, 3 Ruby credits, and 4 Aquamarine credits. Congratulations to those clans!

August Clans
Every day throughout the month, an active clan will be randomly chosen to receive a Jewel Prize Pack. The winners for each day will be posted on the Announcements page of the Munzee website and pushed as a notification through the Munzee app, so keep an eye out!

Emerald Pin Sale
As a reminder, the remaining Emeralds from the Birthday Gardens will go on sale at 15:00 MHQ time today. There is a limit of one per person. The original blog post has been updated to reflect this.

UPDATED: Emerald Garden Pins for Sale

Updated to include per person limit.

If you hadn’t noticed, some new Emerald Gardens popped up over the course of Birthday Month. These new gardens were tied to Birthday events as prizes, and during the course of the month, we had to make some adjustments to them due to the massive amount of Birthday Party attendees. In doing so, we overestimated a bit and are now left with a few incomplete gardens. We’re opening up those remaining spots to everyone!

Tomorrow are 15:00 MHQ time, Emerald Garden Pins will be back in the store. They are $10, and you will be randomly assigned an Emerald in one of the gardens. This sale is open to everyone, but there is a limited quantity available. There is also a limit of ONE PER PERSON. This link will go live at sale time. Update on the Birthday Present Special

Sadly, this is the last weekend of Birthday Month. While we hate to watch the celebration come to an end, we know there are bigger and better things to come. In full Munzee spirit, though, we’ve decided to go all out this weekend. If you weren’t aware, we started a Double Point Weekend this morning at 00:01 MHQ time. Of course, that’s not all.

For the remainder of Birthday Month, we’ve also updated the Birthday Specials. We’ve made two big changes to them:

Scatter Radius: While a 5 mile scatter radius was representative of our 5th birthday, it isn’t necessarily ideal for all players. Now, instead of scattering within 5 miles, the Birthday Icons will scatter within 1 mile.
Credit Percentage: There are quite a few items you can earn from the Birthday Icons. We’ve changed up the algorithm to increase the chances of getting Diamond and Ruby credits when you capture the Birthday Icon.

So get out there and help us end Birthday Month with a bang! Have fun, and Munzee on!

August Clan Requirements

This month, the Clan War will be quite shiny. Requirements for August are all about Jewels! Before we get to the specifics, there are a few things we’d like to remind you of to help:

Clan Randomizer: Last month we introduced the Clan Randomizer. If you’re a new player who’s joining their first clan, or a veteran looking for a new player to fill gaps, make sure to check it out!
Aquamarine Munzees: Aquamarine stickers are available, and resellers have them in stock! If you’re in need of some, you can find your local reseller here.
Emerald Gardens: Looking to cap some Emeralds for Clan Wars this month? You can find all of the Emerald Gardens here.
Pink Diamonds: Pink Diamonds WILL COUNT towards August Requirements. They’re a MunzPak exclusive, so don’t miss out! You can learn more about MunzPak and subscribe here!
