An Update to Premium Membership Benefits

Lately we’ve made many updates to Premium Memberships. Just last September, we created the Monthly Premium Membership which we thought would be useful to those who only need Premium abilities at certain times of the year. Two months later, we added the ability for Premium users to use filtered blasts. Last month, we experimented with our first ZEE-Dayz exclusively for Premium Members.

This update brings more improvements to the Premium Membership. To make sure you’re adequately informed, we’ve written this blog post so that you will know of the changes in advance.

The changes described below will be effective as of 12:00 MHQ on Monday, May 2nd.

Out the Door

At the time stated above, the Munzee app will no longer support the Multi-User Login (MUL) feature. Our team has gone back and forth on this feature for quite some time, so we feel we owe our players some transparency as to how we came to this decision.

When the game was first introduced almost 11 years ago, the MUL was created for families who played together and only owned 1 device. Over the years devices for multiple family members have become more common, and although we understand the convenience the MUL has been more trouble than we would like.

Our evaluation of the MUL went something like this:

Pros Cons
  • Allow families with multiple Munzee players to easily play on one device
  • Quick access for another player if battery dies or signal is lost
  • Most families with multiple Munzee players are now able to provide a device for each player
  • Players who create fake accounts take advantage of this feature to quickly accumulate points or meet requirements for Clan Wars, badges, etc.
  • Development time is increased as new app features must distinguish between the active account and any other logged-in accounts
  • Testing time is also increased as we must make sure that all app features work even as we quickly switch between 3 different accounts
  • The ability to quickly switch between accounts is quite rare among apps — a unique feature rather than one that is standard

Knowing that the original purpose of the MUL has been outgrown, along with all the other cons listed above, we have decided to remove the MUL from the app.

In light of this change, we encourage players to carry external batteries to keep their main device charged and/or bring extra devices in case issues come up so that they can switch and continue playing — things which many of you are already in the habit of doing.

Otherwise, it just takes a few extra steps to log out and then log in to another account the old-fashioned way.

In Comes More

We understand some will be upset by the decision to remove MUL, but we want to continue to offer a positive Premium Membership experience. So we’re excited to announce that we are in the process of testing out 2 NEW additional features we think all Premium Members will enjoy. Please understand that these new features are a trial/test and we want to gather feedback from players to make sure this is an appropriate addition to the game.

+5 Additional Filter Preset slots +1 Increased Magnet Effectiveness
  • This will bring the total to 10 custom filter presets!
  • Standard munzees will now attract 4 bouncers
  • Landing Pad Destinations will now attract 7 bouncers

May 2022 Skin: Graduate Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into May with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your April capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Foolish Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early May. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

April Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $9.

Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

Don’t forget that you’ll need to own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year to have a permanent one next year — so make sure to stock up soon if you’re a fan of these brightly-colored lawn decorations!

May Flamingo Details

What Flamingo Skin can you look forward to earning in May? The distinguished Graduate Garden Flamingo! Like the other flamingos, the Graduate Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to complete next month’s (May’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in June, you can change the skin on the flamingo to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

You can find these brainy birds celebrating their success at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Graduate Garden Flamingo will scatter up to 3 NEW Gold Seal Feathers nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Flamingo Feathers, these scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These flamingo scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Graduate Garden Flamingo:

These Animal QRackers are Too Sweet for Soup!

Continuing our animal-filled April, we’ve created Animal QRacker specials just in time for National Animal Crackers Day! These specials are live NOW until 23:59 MHQ time on May 1!

Animal QRacker Specials

We’ll be distributing the boxes in waves, but will end at a total of 900 Green Animal QRacker Boxes and 900 Red Animal QRacker Boxes. Though there will only be one icon shown on the map, there are a possibility of 7 different icons for each (a total of 14 different results!) revealed after this special is captured. Each icon will correspond with a different QRacker that will not be visible until captured, similar to how the Magic 8 Ball specials worked. They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.

Flamingos Aren’t the Only Bird in Town! NEW Evolution!

Springtime is not only about beautiful new blooms — there’s lots of new life to look forward to! Since it’s been more than a year since the release of the Bee Evolution, it’s about time to add some new Evolution Munzees to our roster! Starting April 5 at 12:00 MHQ time, our brand new Duck Evolutions will be made available through the Freeze Tag Store!

Duck Evolution Munzees

The Duck Evolution is a bit different from the previous Animal Evolutions, as there are only 4 stages total. This is to balance out the longer time for the Duck to fully evolve — in our research, we found that it takes ducks 21 days to hatch. Stages 1-3 of the Duck Evos are virtual munzees, which are as follows:

Once these Evolutions reach Stage 3, a temporary POB will be launched, which is Stage 4. For example, if you’ve deployed a Duck Evolution, the Duckling will remain in place (as mentioned above), while the adult Duck variant will be launched at the same time for the duration of its “lifespan.”

Stage 4 Ducks will bounce to both physical and virtual landing pads every 8 hours. They have the option of emerging as one of the three different species shown below, with the Swan being the rarest of the 3.

Like the Flower Evolutions, the chance of the Duck Evolution evolving to one of the 3 types changes every time it is reset with the Evolution Reset Credit. Although you cannot capture a reset evolution if you have already captured the original from stages 1-3, you CAN capture the final level of a reset when it evolves and releases a new tPOB. An easy way to know is, if you see it on the map you can capture it!

Please note that although the first three stages for each are the same, they will count as different special capture icons.

Just like real life ducks, the Duck Evolution Munzees stick to a healthy diet! Bouncing Duck Evos will be attracted to the following landing pads:

To access the Duck Evolution Munzees, turn on your “Evolution” and “All Expiring Specials” filters. They will count toward Evolution Capture and Deploy badges.

Adopt a Low-Maintenance Pet with these NEW Specials!

You know we loooove animals here at MHQ — what better proof than one of our more recent Flat Objects, the Flat Murray? But sometimes having a living, breathing pet in your home just isn’t in the cards. That doesn’t mean you are totally locked out from feeling the companionship and emotional support a pet brings — you just have to get a little creative! So, to celebrate National Pet Day, starting at 12:00 MHQ on April 4th, Pet Rock specials will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on April 17th.

We’ll be releasing the rocks in waves, but will end at a total of 700 Limestone Pet Rocks and 700 Sandstone Pet Rocks. They will roll around on the map every 4 hours or when captured.

You’ve Been Flocked! ZEE-Dayz

Right on the heels of the Virtual Vacation ZEE-Dayz, we’ve prepped another short event, but instead of double points, double effectiveness, or double capacity, we’ve prepared something very unique… a harmless prank, if you will. As it’s April Fool’s Day, today is all about the “You’ve Been Flocked!” prank! For those not in the know, the main concept behind the prank is to sneakily decorate someone’s lawn with a whole flock of plastic flamingos! The finishing touch is usually a “You’ve been flocked!” sign. Here‘s an example if you’re curious…

To bring this prank into the Munzee world, we’ve got a new Greeting Card, some limited time Flamingo scatters, and more! Read on for everything you need to know!

We have 1 new Limited Edition card for your deploying pleasure available HERE! From the period of Friday, April 1st at 00:01 MHQ through Saturday, April 2nd at 23:59 MHQ, the base Garden Flamingo (without any skins equipped) will scatter 1-3 Plastic Garden Flamingos nearby.

Yes, they are the same Plastic Garden Flamingos that will scatter from the Foolish Garden Flamingo once it’s available next month! We thought it would be nice to give the base Garden Flamingo its time in the spotlight, and also give you a preview of this special scatter!

If you don’t own any Garden Flamingos, you can purchase one in the Freeze Tag Store HERE! Since it’s now April, the price should be reduced to $9!

Refreshing Flamingo Flock

For the same time period mentioned above, if you’ve captured all the munzees near you, you’ll be happy to discover that your map has been flocked! ALL Greenies and Virtual Colors will have the “mask munzees” shown below applied to them.

What we mean by “mask munzee” is that they appear on top of a host munzee, similar to a bouncing munzee, but once capped they do NOT bounce anywhere else. You have “removed” the mask. We first did this with our Back to the Future Day specials (BttFDs) way back in 2015, but there are 3 key differences between those specials and these flamingos, namely:

  1. The BttFDs were only applied to Greenies
  2. If a player capped a BttFDs on a Greenie, others could still cap it on the same Greenie
  3. BttFDs were worth WAY less points

Now we know what you’re thinking — these masks look pretty similar to the other Plastic Garden Flamingos shown before it. Allow us to make the differences clear with another table:

April 2022 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost April! You’ll find all the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. There have been a few issues with activity not counting for some players in the opening minutes of the clan war. Please be sure to give our servers a bit of time to switch from Clan Wars OFF to Clan Wars ON. 🙂 This will ease frustration, just 10 or 15 minutes will make all the difference. We’re happy everyone is so anxious to get started on the 3rd of each month! In addition: Please do not change your clan membership for at least 2 hours after the month ends. The calculations are still being made and it could ruin your efforts.

It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to April 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19.

April ClanPak

Last year, we introduced the ClanPak! While MunzPaks started as a product to aid in Clan Wars, they have transitioned over time. Sometimes you may need a few things to help meet Clan War Requirements, (i.e. magnets, QRowbars, etc.) and reach your goals.

There is a limit of one per player per product/month. You can purchase the April ClanPak HERE! This is NOT a subscription program.

April Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. Since there is NO Level X this month, there will be a total of 5 badges available in April. The first badge will appear as follows:

Overall Clan Notes:

Please keep in mind Levels 4 & 5 are considered advanced gameplay and not recommended for brand new players. Be aware when allowing new players to join your clans. QRew/ZeeQRew status will be required for any clans earning levels 3, 4 & 5. See qualifications for ZeeQRew here. If you are not a member on April 1st you will not be able to qualify until April 15th. If you lose qualification before the 15th you will not be able to qualify until May 1st.

*Claimed QRates will not carry over from before the clan battle starts. The QRate must be found, opened, and claimed during the month of the current clan battle. This time period begins on the 3rd, same as the clan battle.

*All shards may be redeemed at https://www.munzee.com/redeem
Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.
Reseller caps/deploys include all types of RUM/vRUM/reseller card but NOT reseller gnomes or any scatters.
Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB).
Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social and Universal will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal and Universal will not count for Physical points of any sort.

April 2022 Skin: Foolish Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into April with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your March capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Lucky Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early April. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

March Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $10.

Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

Don’t forget that you’ll need to own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year to have a permanent one next year — so make sure to stock up soon if you’re a fan of these brightly-colored lawn decorations!

April Flamingo Details

What Flamingo Skin can you look forward to earning in April? The funny Foolish Garden Flamingo! Like the other flamingos, the Foolish Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to complete next month’s (April’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in May, you can change the skin on the flamingo to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

You can find these frivolous fowls adding cheer to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Foolish Garden Flamingo will scatter up to 3 NEW Plastic Garden Flamingos OR Funny Feathers nearby when it is captured, similar to how Tree scatters can be split! Like the other Flamingo Feathers, these scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These flamingo scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

As we mentioned earlier in the week, today we’re kicking off a very special ZEE-Dayz! While some of the important details were already revealed, we thought it wouldn’t hurt to give you a refresher, along with some additional details. Read on for everything you need to know!

NEW tPOB Pub Details

Last week, we teased that a NEW game piece was coming and that non-trial Premium Members would be getting one automatically at 12:00 MHQ today! The wait is over — we are happy to unveil the tPOB Pub,  the first temporary virtual Destination!

Otherwise, if you’re not a Premium Member, the tPOB Pub is available NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store HERE. Be sure to shop fast, because it will leave the store at 23:59 MHQ on Thursday, March 31st!

Why use a tPOB Pub? This extra special munzee has the following awesome advantages:

  • Perfect for travelers who may want the benefits of a Skyland, but only for a short time
  • Quick and high points
  • Easy access to multiple tPOB caps at once
  • The ability to share the love with other tPOB owners
  • Achieve tPOB Clan Wars requirements quicker

Don’t forget that this month, as it’s a Destination, upon capture you have the chance to earn 1 Sham Rock Credit! Otherwise, the info below will always apply (unless we make any tweaks in the future):

  • Players will see the base icon above for 0, but then a 1-6 as more tPOBs stop by

The deploy circle for tPOB Pub will be 4,000 feet (1219.2 m) from the nearest tPOB Pub. Capture radius is 1000 feet.

To access the tPOB Pub, turn on your Virtual filter and find it under “Destinations”. If the tPOB Pub is hosting munzees, it can also be visible with the “All Expiring Specials” filter.
