2017 Christmas Events Update

It’s December tomorrow!!! Are you ready for the Munzee Christmas Parties? I hope so, because we are! We’ve all been working hard to get these events ready for you and it’s going to be a busy month, just take a look at the calendar. If there isn’t an event near you it’s not too late to host one yourself, just submit an event here. Trish and John’s diaries are at bursting point so there’s only scope for simple / generic art at this stage now I’m afraid though!

Don’t forget to dig out those Dodgy Jumpers, the best one at an event will get this badge (all nominating hosts will get it too, please just email me with a picture and the username of your winner):

There are lots of Emeralds up for grabs at events with the Christmas Gift addition, let me know if your event doesn’t have it and you’d like it. It’s a $20 add on and will be coded to the Event Badge if you have one or as communicated to you already if not.

ZeeOps- Operation: No Vacancy

Agents, ZeeOps HQ’s system has been hacked and all of our files on past missions have been erased! You’ll have to recreate past Operations in what we’re calling LegaZeeOps. It’s up to you to keep the legacy of this organization in tact. By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: No Vacancy” badge.

Following your victories last month the Mean Green Gang has gone on the run. It’s up to you to find where they’re hiding by searching Munzee Destinations worldwide. Look for undercover Mean Green Gang members by capturing and deploying Hotel, Motel, Resort and Timeshare Munzees. Simply searching various Destinations won’t be enough to find the hidden Mean Green Gang members though. Prove the area is secured by renting rooms in Destination Munzees of any type. Remember that there are a limited number of rooms in each Destination Munzee, so you’ll need to be quick to capture when a new one is deployed near you.

This month’s ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Munzee Online Store.

This month’s Missions are as follows:

LEVEL 1:
Basic Training + – Earn at least 1,000 points.
Defensive Training- Deploy at least 10 munzees.
Offensive Training- Capture at least 25 munzees.
Undercover Training- Capture at least 1 event indicator pin.
Service Industry Training – Capture at least 5 Motels/Hotels/Virtual Resorts/Timeshares (Rooms not included).

LEVEL 2:
Group Training- Earn at least 500 cap-on points.
At Your Service – Capture at least 10 Motels/Hotels/Virtual Resorts/Timeshares (Rooms not included).
Stakeout – Rent a room in at least 5 Motels/Hotels/ Virtual Resorts/Timeshares.
False Security Services – Own and deploy at least 5 Motels/Hotels/Virtual Resorts/Timeshares (Rooms not included)
Virtual Surreality- Capture at least 100 virtual munzees of any type.

LEVEL 3:
Advanced Training- Earn at least 10,000 points.
Housekeeping- Own and deploy at least 5 Motels and 5 Hotels (Rooms not included).
From The Outside In- Deploy at least 50 greenies.
Interrogation Practices- Capture at least 100 greenies.
The High Life- Capture at least 5 Virtual Resort and/or Timeshare Munzees (Rooms not included)

LEVEL 4:
Expert Training- Earn at least 50,000 points.
Surreal Estate- Own and deploy at least 10 Motels, 5 Hotels, and 1 Virtual Resort (Rooms not included)
Renter’s Insurance- Rent a room in at least 20 Motels/Hotels/Virtual Resorts/Timeshares
Bellhop- Capture at least 25 Motels/Hotels/Virtual Resorts/Timeshares (Rooms not included) OR capture one Bellhop Nomad Munzee
Re: Round Up- Capture at least 200 physical type munzees.

Completing Operations will give you some hard earned rewards as well.

Munzee Online Store Pricing Changes

Hey, everyone!

We hope you enjoyed our Cyber MunzDay specials and the release of the Cyclops. The staff at MHQ didn’t waste any time trying to cap your Cyclops Munzees that came our way so we could send them off to see the world. The Munzee Online Store has just come back online, and there’s a reason it was down for an extended period of time.

Over the past few months, we’ve been looking at the game and its pieces. We want to continue growing the game while making it even more accessible to everyone. Part of that is changing the pricing of some of our items.

We won’t list everything, but many products, including generic stickers, Virtual Resorts, and jewels, now have lower prices than before Cyber MunzDay.

Moving forward, you may see new prices for other items as well.

We hope you enjoy these changes and it helps you grow the game! We appreciate you and your efforts in spreading the word about Munzee!

The Cyclops Mythological!

We’re proud to announce the final Classical Mythological Munzee: The odorous, uni-ocular Cyclops!

On Cyber MunzDay, November 27th at 10:00 MHQ time, 1,600 Cyclops Mythological Munzees will be available in the Munzee Online Store for $20.00 each. Like the other Mythologicals, each player is limited to one (1) Cyclops Munzee per account, and the sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership.

Although other Myths like the Faun and Hydra land on specific physical Elemental Munzees, the Cyclops is a much greedier creature. So greedy in fact that the Cyclops bounces on greenies as well as both physical and virtual Jewel Munzees!

The Cyclops will bounce on the following every 12 hours or when capped:

Greenies
Amethyst (V)
Sapphire (V)
Diamond
Ruby
Pink Diamond
Topaz
Aquamarine

Cyclops Munzees will also be attracted to Magnets, which you can attach to greenies to increase your odds of finding myths and specials.

Description: The Cyclops Munzee bounces on greenies and all Jewel Munzees (except Emeralds) every 12 hours or when capped. Each is numbered and owned by a Munzee player. Only 1 Cyclops Munzee is allowed per account. You will also earn the Cyclops badge for owning a Cyclops Munzee.

There is also a line of badges for capturing unique Cyclops Munzees.

“Cy”-ber MunzDay 2017!

It’s that time of year again — Cyber MunzDay is here, and we think this is the best one yet!

Let’s get the details out of the way, first. Our Cyber MunzDay sale will begin at 10:00AM MHQ time on Monday, November 27th and will last until 10:00AM MHQ time on Tuesday, November 28th. The Munzee Online Store will be offline between 08:30 and 09:59 MHQ time on Monday in preparation for the sales as well as from 10:01 through 12:00 MHQ time on Tuesday to make changes.

We’ve got quite a few sales, so let’s get down to it!

The Cyclops

The Cyclops

The Cyclops Mythological is the last of the Classical Mythological Munzees. More information about it will be available soon, but 1600 of them will be available for $20 each.

Generic Stickers

A variety of generic sticker sheets will be discounted, including:

Micro Generic Stickers: Block of 35 for $2.50

These stickers are the same size that have been included in the October and November MunzPaks. There are a very limited number of these blocks available.

Mini Stickers: Block of 50 for $4.75

Urban Camos: Block of 10 for $1.25

This will include the “No Pets”, “No Smoking”, and “CCTV” mini urban camos as well as both “Warranty”, “Property of”, and “Inspection” designs.

Player of the Week: Connie Gunderson (cgund)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Connie Gunderson (cgund).

Who are you?
I’m Connie Gunderson; cgund on Munzee.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Littleton, Colorado.

How long have you played Munzee?
I started plaing in April of 2015.

How did you find Munzee?
I saw a link on Dale and Barb’s store (Space Coast Geo Store) when I was looking for caching supplies and clicked away. Then, I was talking to a local player about caching, and they endorsed Munzee, so I ran out, upgraded my phone, and downloaded the app.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
For sure the friends I’ve made, hands down. Most of the local players have become good friends, and it’s been fun to be a part of that social circle. Munzee has also given better focus to my days. Before Munzee, I would sometimes let my days fritter away without being productive or even getting out of the house.

What is on your wish list?
How about some kind of neon outline around Clan Weapons on the app’s map? They are virtually invisible when satellite mode is in use.

I hope MHQ, with help and support from the player base, can come up with better ways to recruit and retain players, too. I do my best to welcome and assist new players when i see activity in my feed, and I think that I’ve been a pretty good ambassador to the game, but it’s not enough. I do think more focus on new ways our community can help itself grow would be time well spent.

Tell us about yourself!
I am a stay-at-home-mom these days after having had a variety of careers in the past, including VP of a nutrition bar company, discover paralegal at a toxic torts firm, court-appointed conservator for mentally ill indigent persons, and classical musical specialist and buyer at Tower Records. My husband of almost 25 years is an aerospace engineer at Lockheed, and we have one son. We lived in California for most of our lives but find that Colorado suits us very well since moving here almost exactly 10 years ago.

Other hobbies include:
I like to cache, read, do needlework, go to Rockies games, play Euro-style board games with my kid, and my son and I are pretty heavily into Pokemon Go, too. We love going to lLegendary Pokemon Raids and did a ton of them over the summer.

Any last words?
It’s been much fun helping build up the Denver suburbs, working together with friends to try and make it a Munzee destination.We are so lucky that MHQ chose the Denver area to hold its 2016 Birthday Bash, leading to the deployment of thousands of virtuals all over the metro area. We locals continue to grow, grow, grow the area for each other as well as any who might travel through.

Chill out with the Ice Dragon!

We’re excited to announce that The Rainbow Unicorn and Gnome Leprechaun have a new friend- The Ice Dragon! This new AlternaMyth may be a bit cold on first greeting, but he’s sure to warm up to you in no time.

As with the other AlternaMyths these Mythological Munzees are deployed on behalf of our HQ staff’s accounts, thus super rare. You’ll get 200 points for capping the Ice Dragon. Owners of the host munzee will also earn double the points of normal Dragons.

Similar to normal Dragons, this icy fellow is still a fiery force to be reckoned with and bounces to Greenies and Fire Mystery Munzees every 12 hours, but as the name suggests will also be attracted to Ice Mystery Munzees. You can also pull one of these rare globetrotters closer to you with a Munzee Magnet. Capturing Ice Dragons will count towards the Myth Collector badges too, so don’t get cold feet!

To celebrate the new AlternaMyth some Authorized Munzee Resellers will be offering discounts on Fire and Ice Mystery Munzees, so be sure to check out their individual stores!

Community Stories – Diabetes, Part 7

When we announced our Diabetes Awareness Charity Special, we asked you to share your stories of living with diabetes, and health in general, and how Munzee has helped you. We’ve gotten a handful of stories that we will be sharing, and we hope these encourage you to share yours. These stories have been edited to exclude personal information unless explicitly stated.

On May 4th 2015 , my world was rocked to the core.

My daughter (12 1/2 at the time) had been unwell and vomiting so we took her to the doctor. He said she had a tummy bug.

A few hours later, she was deteriorating, so I took her to the ER. They suspected appendicitis and drew blood. Then they said, “You didn’t say she had diabetes?” I said, “She doesn’t that I know of.”

Then, things got crazy. She was rushed into critical care. She had undiagnosed Type 1 Diabetes and was in DKA (diabetes keto acidosis) — her body was filling with acid from having too high glucose levels for too long and not being able to process it. She was dying and her body was starting to shut down.

She spent 8 hrs in critical care and was started on insulin before they could move her to ICU, where she was for 24 hrs. She was then moved to the kids ward for a week, where we learned all about injecting multiple times a day, calculating carbs in everything she ate, and the rigorous testing she now endures every time before she eats, injects, exercises, sleeps and we even test at least once overnight. Everything affects her glucose levels. It will every moment of her life until a cure is found.

She now lives life to the fullest, and goes abseiling, hiking, caving, enjoys school and had fun with her friends.

We now try and live every moment to its fullest, and Munzee takes us places, allows us to meet new people, and just try and embrace life. It can change at any moment.

Player of the Week: Kim Phillips (kpcrystal07)

Who are you?
I am Kim Phillips, and my Munzee name is kpcrystal07.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in the very small town of Brooksville, Florida USA, but originally I am from Chicago, Illinois.

How long have you played Munzee?
Since December 2012.

How did you find Munzee?
I found Munzee while caching in December 2012.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
My favorite part of the game is attending the events. I love seeing all of my friends and meeting new players. Also, I really enjoy earning the badges and capping all of the different specials.

What is on your wish list?
After being in Texas and seeing all of the Texas Historical virtual markers, I think it would be a great idea to expand that same concept to other states and places.

Tell us about yourself!
I’m married and have 2 grown daughters and a 15 year old son which keeps me super busy. Plus, I am a first time grandma to a beautiful baby boy which gives me more excuses to go to Texas.

Other hobbies include:
My hobbies consist of all of my son’s high school activities, taking care of my two precious dogs (shitzu), and my grandchild.

Any last words?
I would like to thank everyone that helped me get through a very difficult time when my caching and Munzee best friend, Jeff Coppersmith (cusmith), passed away unexpectedly while doing what he loved best, capping munzees. R.I.P. Jeff! Thank you to all who nominated me for POTW. Keep on capping.
