February Garden Gnome Reminder + March Preview!

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into March with your desired Garden Gnomes! The skin for completing your February capture streak (and the corresponding badge) will be awarded in early March, but we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store!

February Garden Gnome Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Garden Gnome yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $11.

Each month, the price of a Garden Gnome will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Garden Gnome every 28 days.

If you’re planning to complete the capture streaks for each month (and make the initial purchase in January) you’ll have 12 different skins to choose from! So be sure to purchase one each month so you can have a complete bench of these athletic Garden Gnomes!

March Garden Gnome Details

What Gnome Skin can you look forward to receiving in March? The cool and coordinated Basketball Garden Gnome! Like the other gnomes, the Basketball Garden Gnome is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on December 31.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to have completed this month’s (February’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in March, you can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our original blog post for the instructions!

Points

  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 300

You can find these accurate aimers traveling to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Basketball Garden Gnome will scatter up to 3 NEW Gnome Noggin Nets nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Gnome Hats, the Gnome Noggin Nets will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Gnome owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These hat scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Gnome Hats are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

The Basketball Garden Gnome will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Basketball Garden Gnomes on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Basketball Garden Gnome visits you. Basketball Garden Gnomes are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Basketball Garden Gnomes by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Gnomes have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more gnomes you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned gnome!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many gnomes as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Basketball Garden Gnome:

We hope you took a shot at earning March’s Gnome Skin! Don’t forget to keep your streak up through March — you’ll need to in order to earn the April Gnome Skin!

Flat Objects: The Future of Flat Types!

Don’t get us wrong — we love all 4 of our Flat Friends! But not all of our staff members are comfortable with being flattened. To allow for expansion of the Flat type, we’ve come up with Flat Objects! Think of them as the Munzee version of totems (à la Inception) where the Flat Object is something seemingly ordinary but is near and dear to each staff members’ hearts.

The first Flat Object is brought to you by Dylan, our indispensable Creative Director! If you’ve been a Munzee player for a while now, you’ve most likely met him, or at least heard of him… but for those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know the man, or would like a refresher, you can check out his most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

Dylan’s Flat Object is a throwback to simpler times, and tube TV tech! Say hello to the Flat DHS, stylized after VHS Tapes from the 80s and 90s. Dylan has a nose for nostalgia, so these tapes (and the badges associated with them) will give you an insight to some of his favorite flicks. Read on to learn more!

Flat DHS Details

The Flat DHS joins the Flats as a virtual type. It is currently available in the Freeze Tag Store HERE!

Capture Radius: 300 feet, blastable

Proximity: 50 feet from other players’ Flats, 150 feet from your own.

Deploy: 19 points

Capture: Split 94 points with a minimum of 19 Points

CapOn: Split 94 points with a minimum of 19 Points

To access the Flat DHS munzee, turn on your “Virtual – Flats” filter or “All Flat Types” filter. For more information on Flats, you can check out our Help Guide article.

Badges

There are badge lines for deploying and capturing the Flat DHS, which, as mentioned above, feature some Munzee-fied versions of Dylan’s favorite movies. You can see the first of each below!

We hope you enjoy collecting Flat DHS tapes and learning a bit more about Dylan in the process!

    • All Stages of Physical Flower Evolutions
      • Rose

      • Ruby

Secret ZeeOps- Operation: ZEEcret Admirer (February 2021)

Agents, as promised, we have a new Secret ZeeOp available in the ZeeOps Hub! This means that Operation: WatchE.R. will be removed soon. However, if you’ve already purchased Operation: WatchE.R., you will be able to complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

Do you think you can track down your ZEEcret Admirer and remain unscathed? If you complete ALL the missions in Operation: ZEEcret Admirer, you’ll receive the snazzy badge below, along with the Laser Artillery Submarine Eating Robot (L.A.S.E.R.) Shark Munzee (a link to more info below!) and various other rewards listed in the app!

There are 5 levels. Level 1 has 3 missions, and all subsequent levels have 5 missions. Each level ends with more prizes.

We may share this information moving forward with other Operations but possibly not.

L.A.S.E.R. Shark Details

The L.A.S.E.R. Shark is an all new tPOB similar to the Spyderbot! To keep this blog post at a reasonable length, you can read all about it HERE!

On behalf of MHQ, we thank you for your continued service.

This message will self destruct in 3… 2… 1…

Jewel Shards are a Smash Hit!

We’re finally ready to give our veteran players a requested feature with a fun twist. Welcome Jewel Shards! Similar to our Hotel renovations with Destination Credits, we wanted to create a more flexible system for Jewels. This is especially true after the warm reception to the Funfinity Stone Pouch Creatures last year.

This new system is designed for experienced players who may have an overstock of specific Jewel Credits. You’ll be able to choose if you want to redeem some of your Jewel Credits for Jewel Shards. If you do, you’ll be able to use those Jewel Shards to create new Jewels of your choosing. For example, you may have tons of Aquamarines stored up from past Clan War rewards and have no plans on using them. Now you have the option of breaking some of those Aquas into Jewel Shards and using them to get a Citrine or a Ruby. The choice will be yours within the options given.

Don’t worry if you have any Jewel Credits saved up — those will remain, and all Jewels can still be purchased in the Freeze Tag online store. Of course, not all Jewels are created equal, so different amounts of Jewel Shards are required to convert to each Jewel type.

You’ll find all the details and conversion rates at munzee.com/redeem.

While Jewel Shards are currently only available as trading elements online, who knows what the future holds? Perhaps a certain bot buddy will help find more, or maybe you’ll earn them in Clan Wars or ZeeOps? Only time will tell!

FAQ:

Q: I’m a new player with no Jewel Shards and no Jewel credits to exchange. What do I do?
A: Be patient. This is being introduced as a tool for those who have accumulated many credits in order to give them a way to choose what type of Munzee they become and deploy.

Q: Why are the number of Jewel Shards given for a Jewel not the same as the number of Jewel Shards required to get a Jewel?
A: The vast majority of these Jewels were earned as rewards from Clan Wars, Prize Wheels, ZeeOps, and other gameplay activities. The value doesn’t change, but the option to upgrade into a different Jewel is accounted for.

Q: Why can’t I break a virtual Amethyst (or other virtual Jewels) into Jewel Shards?
A: Virtual Jewels are complete munzees in your undeployed list, so it isn’t the same process as exchanging a Jewel Credit for a Jewel Shards credit.

Q: What about Clan Weapons?
A: What about them? 😉 Stay tuned for possible expansions into other areas of the game!

Q: Can I trade my credits to another player or give Jewel Shards to another player?
A: Nope.

We’ve Got the Missing Pieces — Can You Complete the Picture?

It’s been a while since we had non-Card Collectors Club-related specials — the last ones were the WallaEggZ in November! If you enjoyed the art style of the WallaEggZ and the treats inside, you’ll love these new specials, which also feature art from our sister app WallaBee!

In celebration of National Puzzle Day starting at 12:00 MHQ today, Buzzle Boxes will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on February 21st.

A total of 1,000 Buzzle Box specials will be unleashed! They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped. You can find these chipboard classics bouncing to the following:

They will be worth 150 points for the Capture and 50 points for the CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! They will be attracted to Physical Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

When you capture a Buzzle Box, up to three randomly selected Buzzle Pieces will scatter nearby, like Feathers. These munzees will stay on the map for 2 hours or when captured, and are worth 50 points for the Capture.

Badges

By capping all four pieces of a Buzzle you’ll earn the badge for that puzzle. Additionally, there is another badge for completing all three Buzzles. So all you need to do is capture at least one of each Buzzle Piece, and you’ll have met the requirements for all four badges! As you can probably guess what 3 of the badges look like, we’ll keep the final one a secret for now!

We hope these Buzzles aren’t too tough to complete!

Puzzling Eventzee!

We also have a small Eventzee hunt for you to check out! This one was made by us, so if the Groundhog Day Hunt wasn’t your style, you might want to check this one out. It is open to the public with join code PUZZLEDAY2021. This is not attached to Munzee in any way, so there are no points or badges in the Munzee game. It’s just for fun and to give you something to do while you wait for February clan wars to start! 😉

This mini event features Rebus Puzzles, so you won’t be snapping any photos this time around, but instead solving some brain teasers! Once you think you’ve figured out the answer for a Text Challenge, type it in and submit! This event makes use of our text matching feature, so if you enter the correct phrase, it will be approved immediately and you’ll get points! Otherwise it will tell you to please try again.

Eventzee will be releasing a larger version of this hunt as a Party Pack soon — if you need a quick activity for an upcoming event, this or any of the other Party Packs may very well fit the bill!
