July 2023 Skin: Lion Hedge

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into July with your desired Hedges! The skin for completing your June capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Unicorn Garden Hedge shown below, will be awarded in early July. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

June Hedge Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Hedge yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $7.

How to have a permanent Hedge on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Hedges by the end of the year
    • Each month, the price of a Hedge will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Hedge every 28 days.

Also, don’t forget that Reseller Garden Hedges have arrived!  These unique munzee types are only available for purchase from participating Munzee Resellers, so shop now!

July Hedge Details

What Hedge Skin can you look forward to earning in July? The Lion Garden Hedge! Like the other hedges, the Lion Garden Hedge is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Hedges continue to use it.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to complete next month’s (July’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in August, you can change the skin on the hedge to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

You can find this ferocious fern at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Lion Garden Hedge will scatter up to 1-3 NEW Dandelion Flowers nearby when it is captured!

As a reminder, Garden Hedges have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more hedges you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned hedge!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many hedges as you can find!

Discover Your Inner Playwright with Flat Typewriter Scatters!

There’s nothing better than the click clacking of fingers flying on an old typewriter. Except perhaps… a Flat Typewriter Scatter Event! To celebrate National Typewriter Day and Craig’s birthday, we’re excited to announce that we’re re-releasing Craig’s Flat Typewriter scatters for the weekend!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Wednesday, June 21st at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, June 25th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Typewriter, up to 3 Stories may be scattered nearby!

The Stories, which are based on actual novels and plays Craig has written, will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Typewriter owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These Story scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Stories are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

Meet…the Owlbear! A NEW Storyland Myth!

Hey everyone! We’re excited to announce the launch of our NEW Storyland Myth: the Owlbear! The Owlbear is a staple in many fantasy stories, and we can’t wait to bring it into the Munzee universe! This ferocious fusion will be available for $20 – good luck taming this beast! Like the other Mythological Munzees, the Owlbear is a permanent POB. Following the Jabberwock and the Treefolk, it is the 4th of a NEW Storyland line of Myths, so expect to see more creative creatures in the future!

You can find these ferocious fowls clambering to the landing pads above every 12 hours or when captured.

Owlbears will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture an Owlbear on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Owlbear visits you. Owlbears are non-blastable. They will be attracted to Physical Magnets. You can access them by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When an Owlbear is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Owlbear Eggs.

Greeting Cards will appear on the map as the base envelope icon below. Once you cap it, you’ll be able to see which type of Greeting Card you received — just like opening an envelope in real life!

Flat DHS Scatters Return for VCR Day 2023!

On June 7th, VCR Day is celebrated, paying homage to the iconic video cassette recorder! In this age of streaming services and digital media, VCRs hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of simpler times when we eagerly anticipated rewinding our favorite movies or recording TV shows for later enjoyment. Our Flat DHS Scatter Event for VCR Day 2023 seeks to honor this beloved technology by bringing back the Flat DHS scatters for a short time!

Introducing the Flat Cup!

With the exciting announcement of Sam and CuppaZee joining the Freeze Tag family, we figured it was time for a CuppaZee-inspired Flat Object! So sit back, relax, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee while reading up on this new Flat!

Sam’s Flat Object is inspired by the logo of CuppaZee…a cup of coffee! Those late nights coding the Munzee companion app are powered by caffeine and sweat, so what better representation of the hardworking Sam? Read on to learn more!

The Flat Cup joins the Flats as a virtual type. It is currently available in the Freeze Tag Store HERE!

June 2023 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost June! You’ll find all the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app.
It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to June 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app. We plan some scheduled maintenance to occur during June. We will announced it in advance and adjust clan requirements as necessary if there is any substantial downtime for gameplay.

We recommend the CuppaZee app and website for additional tracking of clan stats and daily gameplay!

June ClanPak

There is a limit of one per player per product/month. You can purchase the June ClanPak HERE! This is NOT a subscription program.

Level 1

Individual

  • at least 5 days of activity
  • at least 6000 total points

Clan: in addition to the above individual requirements

  • at least 60,000 total points
  • at least 5 greenie captures

Rewards: 1 mace, 2 virtuals + colors, 1 clan war card

Level 2

Individual

  • at least 10 days of activity

June Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. There will be a total of 6 badges available in June. The first badge will appear as follows:

Weekend App Issues Update

Dear Munzee players,

MHQ would like to take a moment to apologize for the recent server errors that caused the app to be offline multiple times this weekend. We understand how frustrating it is to experience these issues while playing the game, especially on a Double Point Weekend and with events also taking place.

We want to assure you that we are working diligently to resolve the server issues that caused the crash. Unfortunately on Saturday one of our cache servers went down, which caused errors to start rolling in and crash the game. It had trouble rebooting and needed additional assistance from third-party support in order to get everything back up and running again. On Sunday we experienced issues with multiple failing API servers, which took a bit longer than expected to terminate and resolve. Our team is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the root cause of the problem and taking measures to prevent it from happening again in the future. The scheduled maintenance posted for later today is just one of many steps we’re taking to work towards resolving these issues.

We understand that Munzee is more than just a game to you; it’s a community where you can connect with like-minded individuals and enjoy the outdoors. We also understand communities depend on transparency and communication in order to flourish. That’s why we feel particularly remorseful for any inconvenience these issues may have caused this weekend. The Munzee team is a part of the Freeze Tag family, which is made up of many individuals working together to keep our games ambitious, and dependable. When issues like these arise the entire team feels the weight of it, so please know we do not take any of this lightly.

As a gesture of our commitment to making things right, we have rewarded all players who capped or deployed on Saturday or Sunday. You will find these items in your credits list. We’ve also removed May 6th and 7th as days that could ruin a capture or deploy streak. We will also be monitoring Clan progress and making a decision regarding whether or not changes will be made to requirements by May 15th.

We value your continued support and loyalty to Munzee and hope to regain your trust and confidence in our app’s performance. We promise to keep you informed of any updates and progress on resolving this issue.
