June Resolutions Badge Details

Our monthly Capture Streak badges have been centered around a year of personal improvement through highlighting different monthly resolutions. This month we’re challenging players to save money for the June Resolutions badge.

Each month’s unique badge is dedicated to accomplishing another New Year’s Resolution. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. The monthly Capture Streak badges allow for the chance to work towards a different goal each month in order to bring about a year of positive growth and change.

Tips for Saving

While some are naturally skilled in the art of restraint, others need more motivation to hold themselves back from bleeding their wallets dry. However, no matter how careless you might be with your spending, it is entirely possible to reverse your financial situation by adhering to ways to save money. To maximize your long-term profits, take advantage of interest when moving around bank account assets. Take inventory of the items you have accumulated over the years, and rather than continue to add to the collection, consider what you can sell. There’s a good chance you can profit from scarcely used items in your possession.

Instead of purchasing items when the mood strikes, carefully plan your shopping endeavors. Collect coupons, sign up for rewards programs, and stock up during seasonal sales. Purchase items in their off-season, and plan ahead for holiday shopping. For example, it will be far more cost effective to purchase winter apparel at the end of the cold season and save it for the next year if you know you’ll be needing a new coat in the future. Be thrifty with your spending, and don’t leave important purchases or gifts for the last minute. By planning ahead, you can secure the most desirable prices rather than shell out extra cash for a last minute need.

Stick to your shopping list, and restrain from impulse purchases. Decide which nights you want to go out, and stick to a set budget when you do so or plan social outings around discount nights. Take care of the items that you do have, and invest in high quality, long-lasting items rather than disposable trendy apparel. Be conscious of how much money you spend on take out and eating away from home and how often you waste electricity. Investing in smart appliances is a great way to lower bills and help the environment.

No, you won’t be able to take your money to the grave. But with life being so unpredictable, you never know when some extra savings could be your saving grace. Additionally, by abstaining from giving in to momentary purchases and whims, you can save your hard-earned money for things that matter, like visiting a faraway friend or relative or doing something that you’ve dreamed of. Avoid hardship down the line and open the possibility for more opportunities by being a bit more reserved with your spending.

FTC First Responders Badges Are Here!

Update: FTCs are only awarded for the Greenie host of a physical scatter type (Boulders, Retro Games, etc) if it wasn’t capped earlier. Only virtual scatter types like Feathers or Infrared Munzees count toward FTC badges.

Do you pride yourself in your ability to be the First to Capture (FTC) a munzee? Are you world renowned for your FTC abilities? Do you feel like this achievement is worthy of a bit more recognition? Well, we have new badges for you! We’ve put together an extension of our First Responder badge to honor First to Capture (FTC) on all Munzee types! This retroactive line of badges launches today at 10:00 MHQ time!

Never heard of FTC? First to Capture means that you are quite the vigilant player, because you are the first one to capture a munzee after it has been deployed! While these badges are retroactive, all current munzees with zero captures are waiting for you to earn your next (or first!) FTC! You can find the First Responder badges under the Capture category.

The First Responder badges count on ALL munzee types. That means that you just have to be the first to capture any munzee type to earn a FTC. However, these badges are very high numbered, so you will have to work extremely hard to earn the higher ones. The first badge in the series has been around for a while, so it might look familiar:

First Responder– Be the first to capture more than 100 munzees!

We weren’t exaggerating when we said that these badges are hard to earn! To help you out, we’ll also give you another badge to aspire to. The second badge in the First Responder series appears as follows:

Aerodynamic Responder– Be the first to capture more than 1,111 munzees!

There are five new badges in total, bringing the FTC First Responder badge line total to six. For help earning these badges, always check your local areas, because you never know when a new munzee will be deployed around you.

Dinner is Served with Korea Global Grub!

Chu ka he yo! Are you feeling hungry? Hopefully you’ve left some room in your stomach, because we have a brand new Global Grub hitting the map! Korea Global Grub will officially start bouncing around today at 15:00 MHQ time!

This time around we’re feeling extra generous with the servings, as FIVE Korea Global Grub Munzees will be deployed. This physical bouncer will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured.

Have you captured any of our tasty Global Grubs yet? We now have a number of them bouncing around the map, including Mexico, France, Thailand, and Australia. Players will earn a special badge containing a dish of food that is unique to the flag pin country each time a Global Grub is capped. Capturing a Korea Global Grub special will award you the following tasty badge:

If you’ve never treated yourself to Korean cuisine, there are so many dishes you need to try! However, kimchi has cemented its legacy as one of the most reliable staple dishes for traditional Korean dining. This side dish of salted and fermented vegetables that are finely seasoned is s great introductory meal to whet your taste buds. You can even pick up some cabbage and prepare it at home!

The Global Grub specials will bounce around the globe for the remainder of the year before leaving the map on 12/31/2019 at 23:59 MHQ time. You will have until then to try your luck capturing these very rare specials!  We will also be putting out an overall capture line in the future, so make sure to stay turned for more exciting Global Grub updates!

Enjoy National Scavenger Hunt Day with FOUR New Specials!

Did someone say MOB?! That’s right, we did, and we are here to deliver! It just so happens that May 24 is National Scavenger Hunt Day. Hmm, can you think of any scavenger hunt games that you enjoy playing? It might be a good time for them to offer some specials… maybe in the form of FOUR brand new MOBs (Munzee Owned Bouncers) hitting the map on May 24 at 00:01 MHQ time!

We have an entire week of fun ahead! Prepare for our Scavenger Hunt Day specials arriving at midnight tonight (May 24 at 00:01 MHQ time) and lasting until May 31 at 23:59 MHQ time. If you have patiently been waiting for MOBs for Clan Wars requirements then you’re in luck! UPDATE: MOBs will be counted correctly for clan requirements at midnight tonight! These new specials feature all of the classic tools you’d need on a worldwide scavenger hunt.

Virtual Specials

To start things off, we are happy to announce two virtual specials hitting the map! You can enjoy 375 Compass Specials and 375 Telescope Specials bouncing to all colors of regular virtuals and Surprise Munzees every 6 hours or when captured.

These virtual specials will not be blastable, but they will be attracted to Virtual Magnets. You can capture both the Compass Special and Telescope Special on your own munzees and on munzees that you have already captured.

Physical Specials

There will be 375 physical Magnifying Glass Specials and 375 Shovel Specials landing on the map as well! These physical MOBs will bounce to Greenies, Premium Munzees, Mystery Munzees, and all levels of Treasure Evolution Munzees every 6 hours or when captured.

The physical specials will be attracted to Physical Magnets on Greenies. You can capture the Magnifying Glass Special and Shovel Special on your own munzees and on munzees that you have already captured.

Munzee Fitness Update is Here to Whip You into Shape!

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, then chances are it’s finally starting to warm up (apologies to Southern Hemisphere). What better time to get active, especially since we are happy to announce the integration of new fitness features with the latest version of the Munzee app! We also have more than a dozen new Fitness Badges as well as a Community Step Challenge through the end of the month. Read on to learn more!

Fitness Updates

For all you fitness fanatics and diligent step counters, you can now integrate fitness features on the app! Our recent updates now allow players to track steps and distance using a compatible fitness provider. The following fitness providers are all compatible with the latest version of Munzee, so if you didn’t install Munzee 4.0 for iOS or Android, now is the time to jump straight to 4.1! Please remember the update is populating worldwide, which can sometimes take a few hours. So if you don’t immediately see it, just check back regularly!

In addition to doubling our amount of compatible fitness devices, there are several other features in this latest update. You can learn more about fitness integration below, but here is a comprehensive list of changes:

  • Fitness features integrated with version 4.1 Munzee app, found in the Profile section of the app
  • Dual Map and Compass buttons added to the Munzee Details page
  • The compass screen now displays accurate latitude/longitude coordinates
  • Rovers now appear on the map if you’ve already captured the host, but have the capture filter disabled
  • Rovers now appear on the map if you own the host, but have the owned filter disabled

Syncing Your Device

Ready to start getting rewarded for your steps? If you have any of the four compatible devices, you can sync yours to Munzee today to start earning badges for your steps! You will be able to view all Fitness information from your player profile. Simply go to your profile and click the Fitness tab in order to view the Munzee Fitness daily activity and Fitness Vendor Authorization.

To sync your fitness device of choice, select the Fitness Vendor Authorization and choose which device you’d like to authorize. You will then be prompted to login to your Fitness device. Fitbit users, we kindly ask for you to login to your Fitbit account by entering your email and password for the Fitbit account. There seems to be an error that prevents people from logging in to their Fitbit via their Facebook or Google account options at the moment. All fitness device users, be sure to grant any necessary permission for your fitness device.

Once you login to your device, it will be linked to your Munzee account, and you will see a screen that reads “Authorization Successful!” You can now View Activity under the Munzee Fitness tab on your Player Profile to keep up with your progress! After you have authorized a fitness vendor, the Munzee Fitness tab will always be available for checking your daily activity.

Syncing your device is that easy! However, if you are more of a visual learner, we have created a Fitness Syncing Help Guide article that you can follow to help sync your device.

A Personal Challenge

Another update we have made to the Munzee Fitness program is the removal of Fitness Leaderboards. We know this may come as a shock to all of you competitive steppers, but we believe that Munzee Fitness is a personal tool for you to use to keep track of your daily activity. We encourage you all to set daily goals for yourself and maintain physical activity on your own accord. If you do prefer the challenging aspect of leaderboards, luckily the Fitness device you connected may still have those capabilities! It just won’t be a feature built into the Munzee platform moving forward.

Badges

We believe that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, but health is an invaluable aspect of well-being that should never be swept aside. To encourage staying active and keeping your heart healthy, our new update offers the chance to earn over a dozen new fitness badges! These new badges have an updated design from the original badges and even more goals to reach.

If you have already earned any of the previously available Fitness badges, you will of course keep them. If you did not earn any of the original fitness badges they will no longer be available. All player data will be started fresh with the launch of this app update and everyone starts with the ability to earn only the new badges. In other words this new sync will act like Day One in your Munzee fitness journey for all players.

In total there are now four categories for Fitness badges!

The new Lifetime Miles badges have similar artwork to the previous line with the updated Munzee M. These badges award players for every thousand miles they walk up to 6,000 lifetime miles! If you earned the previous Lifetime Miles you’ll still get to see those in your collection, but now you have all new badges to walk for! The first in the new series appears as follows:

1k Lifetime Miles – Walk 1,000 lifetime miles using a supported Munzee fitness tracker.

Meanwhile, there will be an additional  TWO new Steps Per Day badges based on achieving outstanding daily steps. Players will still be able to earn the previous three badges (5k, 10k, 15k steps in one day) if they have not already earned them, but now you can also earn badges for stepping 20k and 25k in a single day!

We’re also excited to introduce new Streak Badges earned for consistent days of fitness!  You can earn these badges by walking at least 10,000 steps a day for multiple days in a row. The first badge, The Triathlete, can be earned when you walk at least 10k steps for three days in a row! We won’t reveal all of the streak requirements just yet, but after you earn the first one you should have a good idea of how long to keep going. The first in this all new badge series appears as follows:

Finally, there is a line of new Distance Badges to earn based on completing different mile achievements over time. These work like the Lifetime Miles Badges, but are based on very distinct distances. The fun part about these badges is they will inform you of how the distance you have walked compares to the real world. For example, if you earn the following badge, you will have walked the distance of England’s east coast to its west coast!

Coast-to-Coast- Walk 192 miles (309km) using a supported Munzee Fitness tracker.

Please be aware all badges may take up to 48 hours to appear after syncing your daily steps.

Community Challenge!

It’s time for a deep stretch, because you’re really going to be inclined to get moving when you hear about our fitness contest! Starting today and lasting until 23:59 MHQ time on May 31, we will be doing a 4.1 million steps challenge! (No, you don’t have to complete those steps yourself!) Everyone who syncs their devices will be challenged to collectively walk 4.1 million steps before the month ends. All who sync their devices to Munzee 4.1 will be automatically entered into a drawing for one of three prizes!

The *prizes include:

  1. 15 Urban Fit credits
  2. $25 Freeze Tag Store Gift card
  3. 15 Urban Fit coded stickers (available only from Authorized Munzee Resellers)

*One prize per winner.
**ALL participants who sync and walk at least 45,000 steps by May 31 will also receive ONE Urban Fit credit! Steps must be in our system before 23:59 May 31 to count.

New MOB Specials Are Ready to Hit the Map!

Think you can handle a little more excitement? Since we announced the BETA launch of our PinPoints Loyalty Program, we have witnessed many players redeeming their hard-earned PinPoints for prizes of their choosing. We thought why not keep the celebration going with the introduction of our TWO PinPoints bouncing specials starting on May 10 at 00:01 MHQ time!

Both the physical and virtual PinPoints specials are Munzee Owned Bouncers (MOB) and they hit the map at midnight and stay on the map until May 20 at 23:59 MHQ time. You can learn more about each type below!

PinPoints Virtual Special

Cinco de Mayo Means Mexico Global Grub!

Feliz Cinco de Mayo! It’s the annual day of celebrating the Mexican Army’s underdog victory over France way back in 1862, though the date is often confused in the United States with being Mexico’s Independence Day. We’re happy to set the record straight while offering another of our Global Grub specials, with Mexico Global Grub hitting the map today at 15:00 MHQ time!

While the capper of Pimedus will receive one of the listed prize options, each Pimedus owner will ALSO have the chance to earn a random prize for each CapOn! As always, the black ghost will be feeling temperamental, so you never know what you’ll receive! (Cut her some slack, she’s going through a moody phase!) The prize options at launch for CapOn will appear as follows:

  • 100 points
  • LOSE 100 points BUT EARN 50 Zeds
  • 100 points and 1 PinPoint
  • 10 points and 10 PinPoints
  • 50 points and 5 PinPoints
  • Additional rewards that could rotate monthly (usually 5-10 total)

However, you can also unlock the following landing pads with a Bouncer Upgrade Credit for an additional $5, from the Freeze Tag Online Store. These additional landing pads include:

When the Bouncer Upgrade credit is used, your Pimedus will also have the ability to be “nudged” to a new munzee. You can use the nudge feature up to three times a day (MHQ 24-hour day), but only after your munzee has sat for at least 3 hours. Additionally, the Bouncer Upgrade will also allow you to rename your Pimedus! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize your Pouch Creature’s moniker. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct, and be mindful of maintaining a family friendly environment!

Pimedus will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Pimedus on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Pimedus visits you. However, Pimedus will be non-blastable. This Pouch Creature will be attracted exclusively to Physical Magnets on Greenies. (That means Virtual Magnets aren’t going to help you in this situation!) You can access Pimedus under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

2x Physical Capture Booster Credit

As stated above, Pimedus will also give you the opportunity to earn 2x Physical Capture Booster Credits. Much like when you capture a Hadavale and earn a Physical Deploy Booster, if you earn a Physical Capture Booster from a Pimedus you’ll be able to use it at your own convenience from your inventory tab in app. Although Hadavale awards a Booster every time it’s capped, since there will be many more Pimedus floating around there’s a slimmer chance at earning a Physical Capture Booster. A new over-the-air update has been pushed, so now you’ll be also able to use multiple Booster types at the same time! Just activate both boosters and get to capping and deploying! Or stick with one at a time if you like, it’s all up to you when you activate a booster!
