Announcing June POTM and GOTM Winners! (QRazy Challenge!)

It’s almost a wrap for June, which means we’re just days away from Munzee’s official birthday month! But before we dive into that celebration, it’s time to honor both our June Players of the Month (POTM) and Gardens of the Month (GOTM) winners!

June POTM

June POTM was selected based off player nominations, as we asked you to send in your choices for outstanding clan coordinators. Many players jumped at the opportunity to share their picks for players who step up to the plate and apply their top organizational skills to coordinating Clan Wars. You can find a complete list of the June POTM winners at the end of the blog. Congratulations to all of these players for being recognized by fellow players for your outstanding leadership skills!

July POTM Requirements

Our July POTM requirements will see Determined Deployers being awarded. Anyone who deploys at least *16 munzees throughout July will earn the following special Player of the Month badge that we have newly updated for July winners:

Per usual, the July POTM badge won’t be awarded until the end of the month, but it is a new badge for Birthday month only. So even if you’ve earned the previous POTM or POTW badges, this will be a new badge to earn! And speaking of earning badges for deploys…

QRazy 8’s Deploy Challenge

It’s time for a community challenge! We challenge you all to help us reach 8,888,888 deploys before the end of the month. From the last deploy count taken on June 25, we are currently at 8,768,683 deploys. If the goal is met by the end of July, anyone who deploys at least 8 munzees of any type during July will earn 1 Virtual, 1 Virtual Color Credit, 1 Urban Fit credit, 1 Physical Capture 2x Booster, as well as the limited edition QRazy 8’s badge!

*Note: Socials and personals are excluded from deploy count and qualification badge for both POTM and the deploy challenge. If the deploy challenge is met, all players who deployed will also earn the Crazy 8’s badge. (All prizes and badges will be awarded at the end of the month.) You people are QRazy, and we love it!

June GOTM

It’s time to recognize some outstanding Virtual Garden builders! While we have lots of exceptional garden nominations to choose from, we’ve been waiting to award our June winners for a little while now! All winning GOTM organizers, as well as all players who deployed in the winning gardens, will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map in one of the funnest ways possible. The June Garden of the month title goes to the Fort Worth Longhorn Garden, organized by denali0407, and Grenaa City’s Coat of Arms, organized by RUJA and Heinerup! Some gardens are so beautiful they don’t even need nominations! Everyone at MHQ (and online!) were big fans of this beautiful garden, which was created for Geowoodstock 2019, held in Fort Worth.

Grenaa City’s Coat of Arms by RUJA and Heinerup in Grenaa, Denmark

This very large garden contains more than 3,000 virtuals for a flawless execution by this Danish duo. The garden depicts the coat of arms of the Danish town of Grenaa based on a seal from the early 14th century that depicts a bridge over the Grenaa river. A church stands on either side of the bridge, symbolizing the local church and older chapter, while the stars and crescents represent traditional Christian symbols of the time. This garden is near a very large birthday event taking place July 6 which Matt will be attending.

Coupe du Munzee Quarterfinals Update!

It’s almost time for the third icon adjustment for our Coupe du Munzee specials! Following the Round of 16 game update, which saw eliminated teams reduced to 1 icon each and advancing teams increased to 30 icons each, there will be another map change on Thursday, June 27 at 00:01 MHQ time to mark the Quarterfinals!

As the Women’s World Cup moves into the Quarterfinals, 8 more teams have been eliminated. That means that there will only be 1 physical icon per eliminated team on the map. However, your odds of capping one of the advancing teams just went up! All 8 advancing teams will see their icons increase to 50 per team!

The 8 advancing Coupe du Munzee teams, reflecting the results of the Women’s World Cup, are as follows:

Schedule Updates!

While players can be treated to the new icon increase for the time being, keep in mind that only the 4 teams advancing to the Semifinals will remain in abundance on July 2 starting at 00:01 MHQ time. Since we made some updates to allow the eliminated teams to remain on the map with 1 icon a piece (rather than remove them entirely), we’ll provide an updated schedule here:

Teams advancing to the Quarterfinals will see an icon increase, while all eliminated teams will be reduced to one icon:
- June 27 (00:01 MHQ time) – July 1 (23:59 MHQ time)
- 8 team icons abundant, 16 icons reduced to one per team
Teams advancing to the Semifinals will see an icon increase, while all eliminated teams will be reduced to one icon:
- July 2 (00:01 MHQ time) – July 7 (23:59 MHQ time)
- 4 team icons abundant, 20 icons reduced to one per team

That means that all teams who make it to the final two matches will remain on the map from July 2 until the conclusion of the Coupe du Munzee specials on July 7 at 23:59 MHQ time, at which point all icons will leave the map. However, after the Coupe du Munzee specials leave the map, we will have a special surprise celebration for the winning icon! Stay tuned for more details!

July Resolutions Are Here!

While you still have a few days left in June to put your iced coffee money in your savings account for June Resolutions, we’re already looking to the future for our July Resolutions badge! From eating healthy to traveling more, our monthly Capture Streak badges have been centered around a year of personal improvement. As summer heats up on the Northern Hemisphere, this month we challenge players to lose weight (if you need to for your health)!

Each month’s unique badge is dedicated to accomplishing another New Year’s Resolution. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. The monthly Capture Streak badges allow for the chance to work towards a different goal each month in order to bring about a year of positive growth and change.

Losing Weight for Health

While folks on the Southern Hemisphere might be bundling up, the Northern Hemisphere is well into bathing suit season. And for many, the rise in temperature is accompanied by a heightened dissatisfaction with one’s physical appearance. Weight loss, however, shouldn’t be something that is appearance based. It might sound cheesy, but if you’re asking yourself “do I have a summer body?” the answer is “do you have a body?” If you say “yes,” then you’re all ready to hit the beach!

While it’s crucial to accept your body as is, that doesn’t mean that you can neglect your health. If your weight is impacting your health, then it’s time to lose weight the right way in order to feel better and increase your longevity. Rather than gravitate towards a fad diet or “lose weight quick” scheme, the two main components of weight loss are diet and exercise. The number one reason why diets fail is because they are unsustainable. By changing your lifestyle choices permanently, you will never again have to grapple with the disappointments of “yo-yo dieting.” Just be sure to find a healthy meal plan that works best for YOU.

While counting calories can lead to unhealthy behaviors, it is beneficial to be aware of factors such what you eat, how much you eat, when you eat, and how often you eat. Keeping a food journal, or tracking your food intake on one of the many helpful dieting apps, can help you become more aware of what you put into your body so that you can make more informed dining choices.

When it comes to staying active, the playing field is unfortunately not even. However, if you have underlying medical issues that are prohibiting weight loss, you can still set daily goals for yourself. We are so proud of how many players have achieved monumental fitness accomplishments, especially after many have shared their stories of chronic physical disabilities and illnesses that they refuse to allow to hold them back. Remember, the only person you have to compete with when it comes to fitness is yourself. Focus on personal growth rather than comparing yourself to others, and remember that health is always the goal.

Round of 16 Means Coupe du Munzee Updates!

The Coupe du Munzee specials have been on the map for two weeks now, which means it’s time for an update! The Coupe du Munzees will officially be changing in quantity on Saturday, June 22 at 00:01 MHQ time based on the advancement of teams in the Women’s World Cup!

Though we started out with 24 icons for each of the 24 teams in the Women’s World Cup, we told you that we’d be removing icons from the map as teams became eliminated in real life. However, we have decided to leave 1 physical icon per team for the 8 eliminated teams on the map. That means if you need a losing team icon to complete a badge, there’s still hope to be had!

While the 8 eliminated teams will have their original quantity of 11 physical icons reduced to 1 each, the 16 advancing teams will see their physical icons increase from 11 to 30. Are these numbers a bit overwhelming? Overall you can look forward to a grand total of 488 Coupe du Munzee specials on the map, for an overall increase of 54 percent in Coupe du Munzee specials! However, it will now become much more challenging to cap eliminated team icons.

Remember that though there will be an increase in the number of icons per winning team, as well as overall increase in the amount of specials, not all teams icons will remain abundant for long. Starting on June 27, only the teams advancing to the Quarterfinals will see an increase, while all eliminated teams will be reduced to 1 icon per team. The special double points days for Flat Friends and German Coupe du Munzee specials will NOT continue on into the Round of 16. However, there are still 7 badges that players can earn along the way.

Capping the Coupe du Munzee specials might not be the easiest feat, but either is being a professional athlete! It’s a great time to use your physical Munzee Magnets, because there will be more specials to be capped by all players starting on Saturday!

Flat Matt Just Got a Little Bit Fancy! (BIG Sale!)

For too long now Flat Rob has had all the fun, galavanting around in his tuxedo, chilling on the beach, and traveling snowy terrains. It’s about time that Flat Matt got a wardrobe change of his own! But while Fancy Rob just wants to travel, Fancy Matt has a different agenda on his plate. Now introducing the Fancy Flat Matt variants, representing some of Matt’s favorite sports!

Set your timers, because the Fancy Flat Matts will be going on sale on June 20 at 15:00 MHQ time in the Freeze Tag Online Store! These Player Owned Bouncers (POBs) are variants of Flat Matt that players can own.

Like the Fancy Flat Robs, the new Fancy Flat Matts will bounce around every 12 hours or when captured. Fancy Flat Matts will bounce to Flat Matts, Red Colored Virtuals* (specified below), and an additional other type based on the variant!

The Fancy Flat Matts WILL be attracted to Virtual Magnets if they are used on one of the Red Color Virtuals. They will also be equipped with the ability to be nudged. You can capture Fancy Flat Matts on your own munzees or previously captured munzees, but they will NOT be blastable. Now let’s get to know a little bit more about each variant!

Matt’er Up Flat Matt

Flat Matt is ready to knock it out of the park! This variant of Fancy Flat Matt bounces to Flat Matts, Diamond Munzees, Sports Stadium Places Munzees, and select Red Colored Virtuals.

Face-Off Flat Matt

Flat Matt is ready to take the ice! This variant of Fancy Flat Matt bounces to Flat Matts, Ice Mystery Munzees, Sports Stadium Places Munzees, and select Red Colored Virtuals.

Footy Flat Matt

Flat Matt is ready to score on a set piece! This variant of Fancy Flat Matt bounces to Flat Matts, Earth Mystery Munzees, Sports Stadium Places Munzees, and select Red Colored Virtuals.

Store Sale!

The store sale will begin tomorrow (June 20) at 15:00 MHQ time for 24 hours only. When a player goes to the online store, they will be able to choose between the three Fancy Flat Matt options:

Choose wisely, because each player will only be able to buy one of the three options! To repeat, each player will one be able to buy one variant style of Fancy Flat Matt, with purchases limited to one per player no matter which variant you choose. Each Flat Matt variant will cost $20, on sale for the full 24 hours so there is no rush to be online at the exact time. You will only be able to purchase the Fancy Flat Friends for 24 hours.

We say “Fancy Flat Friends,” because the Fancy Flat Matt Variants will be joined by the original Fancy Flat Friend, the Fancy Flat Rob variants! That’s right, you’ll also have 24 hours to shop Beach Flat Rob, Cold Flat Rob, or Tux Flat Rob!

The Fancy Flat Rob variants are available for purchase for players who do not already own a Fancy Flat Rob variant. Like the Fancy Flat Matt variants, each player is only allowed to purchase one Flat Friends variant per friend. That means you are free to purchase one Fancy Flat Matt and one Fancy Flat Rob of your choosing!

The Fancy Flat Matt variants will NOT count towards the other Flat Matt Capture or Deploy badges. Instead, Fancy Flat Matts will have their own Deploy badge that can be earned by deploying any Fancy Flat Matt variant. The badge will appear as follows:

Coupe du Munzee Specials Cross onto the Map!

Tomorrow marks the start of the Women’s World Cup in France, a monumental competition featuring many of the top female athletes in the world. This massive sporting event means something in the world of Munzee as well, as our Coupe du Munzee Specials will begin bouncing around on June 7 at 00:01 MHQ time all the way until July 7 at 23:59 MHQ time to cheer these female athletes on, the Munzee way!

Earn this badge by capturing at least one Coupe du Munzee special!

Fierce Females

The Coupe du Munzee specials will hit the map in support of the Women’s World Cup, a competition that allows female football stars to demonstrate their immense athletic talent in a showcasing of some of the most skilled athletes in the world. As you cheer on your home country in the World Cup, be sure to take a moment to recognize the dedication these women have put into their training to make it to such a prestigious level of professional competition!

Unfortunately not all sports give female athletes adequate opportunity to compete on professional levels. Ready to learn more about the specials that will be hitting the map in a number of hours?! To honor the 24 teams in the Women’s World Cup, we will have 1 physical icon per team and 11 of each team’s icons bouncing on the map every 6 hours or when captured to represent each player on the field. That means that we will be starting out with 264 specials up for grabs, featuring the following icons and many more!

Though the Coupe du Munzee specials will be on the map until July 7 at 23:59, not all team icons will last the duration of the run. While we will start out with 24 icons, one for each of the 24 teams, these numbers will slowly dwindle as teams fail to advance. With each passing the round the number of icons per team may increase as they remain in the competition. The following schedule will let you know how many icons will remain on the map throughout the World Cup:

All teams will join the map for the following days:
- June 7 at 00:01 MHQ time through June 22
- 24 team icons (11 bouncers per team)
Only teams advancing to the Round of 16 will remain on map for the following days:
- June 22-25 (losing teams will be removed during this time period)
- 16 team icons
Only teams advancing to the Quarterfinals will remain on map for the following days:
- June 27-29 (losing teams will be removed during this time period)
- 8 team icons
Only teams advancing to the Semifinals will remain on map for the following days:
- July 2-3 (losing teams will be removed during this time period)
- 4 team icons
Only teams playing for 3rd place will remain on map for the following day:
- July 6
- Losing 2 team icons
Only teams advancing to the Finals will remain on map for the following day:
- July 7
- Winning 2 team icons

The Coupe du Munzee specials can be captured on previously capped and owned munzees. These physical bouncing specials will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets and can be found by turning on the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters. The point distribution is as follows:

Players will be able to earn a badge for capturing one Coupe du Munzee special as well as a variety of other badges as well!

Teams are competing in groups of six, so our Coupe du Munzee specials are also grouped into six Ensembles of team icons, with four teams per ensemble. You will be able to earn a badge for capturing one of each team in an Ensemble, as well as a badge upon your first capture of any Coupe du Munzee special, for a total of seven new badges to earn with these specials. Remember that since the special icons will be eliminated along with their real world teams, you’ll want to capture these icons while you can to earn the badges!

Prepare to Feast with Sweden Global Grub!

Today we will be bringing you another tasty Global Grub addition in order to celebrate Constitution Day in Sweden! Sweden celebrates its National Day on June 6 in order to honor the day Gustav Vasa was crowned king, way back in 1523, which laid the foundation for Sweden’s independence, while in 1809 a new constitution was adopted for Sweden on the very same date. So it’s time to fill your plates for Sweden, because the Sweden Global Grub will be joining the map today at 15:00 MHQ time!

To mark the date, we will be deploying SIX virtual Sweden Global Grub Munzees. The Sweden Global Grub specials will bounce to regular virtuals and colored virtuals every 12 hours or when captured. This special will join a number of already released Global Grubs, including Mexico, China, and Thailand.

May Players of the Month and June POTM Requirements!

Can you believe tomorrow is already the first day of June?! That means it will be Munzee’s birthday in no time! It’s also time to give a big Munzee shoutout to the many players who earned the May Player of the Month (POTM) badge for capturing 500 or more uniques of a specific myth. While some declared this feat to be quite challenging, we’re happy to have awarded hundreds of players for being absolute Myth Masters!

Congratulations to all who earned May POTM! And now it’s time to move on to next month’s requirements, which will call for nominations!

Ready to give some recognition to hard-working players who go above and beyond? We will be awarding the POTM title to outstanding clan coordinators during the month of June! Do you know someone who is able to rally a team and coordinate the troops to victory? Many players put in hard work and careful consideration when organizing Clan Wars, and it’s about time they received their due recognition! These players could organize one clan or multiple clans so be sure to let us know the name of the player and clan(s).

If you know an outstanding clan organizer, email their player name to iloveyou@munzee.com by June 25 at 15:00 MHQ time to nominate them for the chance to earn June POTM! Remember that anyone who earned the Player of the Week badge previously IS able to earn the Player of the Month badge as well! The criteria for POTM changes each month, so stay tuned for the July POTM criteria if June isn’t your month to shine.

LegaZeeOps- Operation: Pre:Evolution (June 2019)

Agents, ZeeOps HQ’s system has been hacked and all of our files on past missions have been erased! You’ll have to recreate past Operations in what we’re calling LegaZeeOps. It’s up to you to keep the legacy of this organization in tact. The missions for this month are the same that were originally available in June 2017’s Operations.

Agents, your hard work in May has paid off and the final factions of the Mean Green Gang have been dismantled. Although we’re always on the lookout for another uprising, it seems the reign of the Mean Green Gang has ended. The enemy has fallen, but your work is not done.

ZeeOps Scientists have started developing an evolutionary strain of munzees. These Evolution Munzees, also known as Evos, come in many forms. We’re still in the testing phase, but we need our agents to see how these Evos react in the real world. It is up to you to capture and deploy a variety of these Evos for the sake of science.

June 2019 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

Since this month’s requirements are focused on Evolution Munzees, you may want to stock up in the Freeze Tag store! You can also pick up Evos in a monthly MunzPak subscription!

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the new “LegaZeeOps- Operation: Pre:Evolution” badge.

This month’s Missions are as follows:

LEVEL 1:
Basic Training + – Earn at least 1,000 points.
Defensive Training- Deploy at least 10 munzees.
Offensive Training- Capture at least 25 munzees.
Evolutionary Studies I- Deploy at least 5 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees.
Evolutionary Studies II- Capture at least 10 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees.

LEVEL 2:
Group Training + – Earn at least 1,000 cap-on points.
Evolution Examination – Capture at least 5 different types of physical or virtual Evolution Munzees. NOTE capturing different levels of the same type of Evo will not count toward this mission.
Field Test Studies – Capture at least 25 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees.
Developmental Deploys – Deploy at least 10 Evolution Munzees.
Virtual Surreality- Capture at least 100 virtual munzees of any type.

LEVEL 3:
Advanced Training- Earn at least 10,000 points.
Always Aware- Deploy at least 50 physical munzees of any type.
Interrogation Practices- Capture at least 100 greenies.
Virtual Virus- Capture at least 500 virtual munzees of any type.
A Missing Link- Capture at least 25 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees AND deploy at least 10 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees.

LEVEL 4:
Expert Training- Earn at least 50,000 points.
Laboratory On The Loose!- Capture at least 50 physical or virtual Evolution Munzee.
Evolution Emergency- Deploy at least 25 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees.
Reconnaissance- Deploy at least 100 physical munzees of any type.
Hit The Streets- Capture at least 250 physical type munzees.

Completing Operations will give you some hard earned rewards as well.
