September 2022 Skin: Oktoberfest Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into September with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your August capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Motorist Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early September. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

August Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $5.

How to have a permanent Flamingo on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year
    • Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

September Flamingo Details

What Flamingo Skin can you look forward to earning in September? The bubbly Oktoberfest Garden Flamingo! Like the other flamingos, the Oktoberfest Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to complete next month’s (September’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in October, you can change the skin on the flamingo to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

You can find these buzzed birds drinking at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Oktoberfest Garden Flamingo will scatter up to 3 NEW Bavarian Feathers nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Flamingo Feathers, these scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These flamingo scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

As a reminder, Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Oktoberfest Garden Flamingo:

August 2022 GOTM Winners

Phew, is it that time of the month already? It feels like our Player AppreZEEation Month just started!

We began the month with our Melon flashMOB! Later in the week we had our Drink and Disc Golf ZEE-Dayz which gave you another chance at the special Flat Disc Golf Basket scatter badges, along with double points! At the end of the week, we asked you what you’d like to see for Player AppreZEEation month, which gave us some good projects to work on!

The next week  we released our ongoing Soap Box Derby specials, which we hope everyone is enjoying! The day after that, we had our Reduced Cog Cost ZEE-Dayz, which allowed players to build Mechz at half the cost in the Redeem Store.

Just last week, we kicked off our second annual RUM ZEE-Dayz, to share the love with our Authorized Resellers! A few days later, we had major outages with app which we’re sure you noticed — our team worked tirelessly to figure out what the issue was (turned out to be related to AWS) and get it resolved. In the meantime, Rob and Lou bravely pushed through with the Player AppreZEEation Award Ceremony to give players something to enjoy while the app was down. Lastly, we released some new Limited Edition Greeting Cards perfect for teachers and students heading back to school!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the August Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded by early September, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

August GOTM

In keeping with our theme of Player AppreZEEation, we’ve chosen gardens that kept the party going! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Downham Cheshire Cat garden, designed by poshrule, and the Sprinkle Cupcake Garden, designed by CoalCracker7, as our winning August GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

Here’s a note from the player who nominated this garden:

The cat’s smile is on the flat layer, and the face on the main virtual layer, so in the true spirit of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, if one turns off the virtual layer, you are just left with the cat’s enduring smile……..! Brilliant!

As the nominator pointed out, this choice of munzee types is quite clever and so fitting for the character! We used the mobile app to take another screenshot here, so you can see what it looks like with just the Flats:

Sprinkle Cupcake by CoalCracker7 in Plant City, FL

We love the contrast created by the warm berry tones of the cupcake against the bright blue and green cupcake liner!

Here’s a note from the player who designed this garden:

We are hosting an event on 5 February, Sugar and Sweet, along with the Gumball Machine event just a week before Valentine’s Day. The theme for the Sugar and Sweet is a cupcake, so we did a sprinkle cupcake with white and pink frosting and jewel sprinkles along with a cherry on top!

CoalCracker7 does it again! Last month we chose her popular Corgi garden, and until writing this blog did not realize it’s been back-to-back wins! Kudos to her and her fellow hosts for coming up with fun themes for their events, and of course to CoalCracker7 for her wonderful garden designs that match those themes! We’re sure this event was a sweet success!

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Player AppreZEEation Award Ceremony

For Player ApprZEEation month, we wanted to put more players in the spotlight! This time we tried something different and posted our Facebook Live Event yesterday to give you a heads-up — but we know not all of you may have checked Facebook yesterday, or may not even use Facebook.

As mentioned in the description of that event, this Facebook Live will be an Award Ceremony similar to the ones we had last year, only this time in addition to recognizing some outstanding solo players, we’ll also be recognizing special groups of players as well!

Some slightly more detailed info in list form:

  • We are shooting for a start time of 15:00 MHQ today, August 18. In the case of any technical difficulties, we will let you know of any new start times as soon as we can.
  • You will be able to view the LIVE video on our Facebook Page HERE!
  • As usual, Facebook should automatically post the completed recording on the page once the live video is over, so if you’re not able to watch it live, you can still have your own Award Ceremony experience afterwards! We’ll post the link to the recording and embed it here as well.

General Info

As Rob mentioned in the video, due to the ongoing app issues, today will be a Blackout Day — this means this day will not affect your streaks.

Non-trial Premium Members will also receive a Golden Carrot Munzee, and possibly more as Rob hinted!

Extended Streak Badge Line!

Many of our longtime players have kept up their Capture, Deploy, or ULTRA (both cap and deploy) Streaks up in the hopes that we might someday extend those lines… well, today (or whenever the app is back up and running again) is the day!

The 3 badge lines have been extended out to the full 11 years that the app has existed so far!

While no one will earn these badges immediately, we do have some players that are close!

The current longest capture streak is maintained by CrazyLadyLisa at 3,425 days as of end of day on the 16th, which is 9.4 years!

As for deploys, the current longest streak is maintained by taska1981 at 3,177 days as of end of day on the 16th, which is 8.7 years!

Unfortunately, we were unable to query the current longest ULTRA streak in time, and due to our focus being on fixing the current app issues, the identity of the player who’s achieved this will be a secret for now… but once these badges are awarded, let’s keep a lookout for who’s got the highest one!

We hope to have the issues fixed some time today or at least before the weekend — so, to give us enough time to award the badges after that, please wait until Tuesday, August 23 to contact support@munzee.com if you have not received the badges you qualify for.

The Great Wallaville Soap Box Derby Comes to Munzee!

After the madness that was the Wonder11and Playing Cards, anything would be more manageable, right? At least, we hope…

The gearhead in us has been tinkering under the hood, and we’re off to the races- the Soap Box Derby races that is! This month we’re putting a twist on our build-a-badge-style specials. The short version is, the more Soap Box Derby Car Parts you cap, the more Racers will be deployed on the map! These specials are now live for everyone and will remain available until August 31 at 23:59 MHQ, when we’ll announce the winner(s) of the race!

Build Your Racers!

You’ll need to collect 5 Basic Parts to build ALL Racers:

Please note that each Racer needs its own set of these Basic Parts — so, the first time you cap all of these items, you will build the Basic Racer. You’ll then need to capture another set of them to make progress towards the next Racer.

Speaking of the next Racer — in addition to the 5 Basic Parts above, you’ll need to collect 2 additional parts from Junk Boxes:

Junk Box Scatters

Special Race Cars need extra parts, as seen in the example below:

The points for ALL Parts are as follows:

  • Capture: 100
  • CapOn: 50

Basic Parts and Junk Boxes will be released in waves, ending at a total of 100 of each = (5 Basic Parts x 100) + (2 Junk Boxes x 100) = 700 total.

They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!

Once you’ve captured the necessary parts for a Racer, you will receive the badge for doing so, AND a new Racer of that type will be deployed on the virtuals account bearing your username!

You won’t get CapOn points, but you will get bragging rights for all to see, and 150 points whenever you cap a Racer doesn’t hurt either!

While you can collect multiple sets of parts, each user will only be able to trigger 1 deploy per Racer type. That means, at most, there will be 6 Racers deployed for each user. If you want to see more Racers on the map, make sure to get yours built ASAP!

Racers will be moving faster than their Parts, so they will bounce every hour or when capped.

General Info

The information in this section applies to Basic Parts, Junk Boxes, AND Racers.

The landing pads are as follows:

Physical Virtual

They will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a Basic Part/Junk Box/Racer on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Basic Part/Junk Box/Racer visits you. They will not be blastable. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access them under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

Badges

There are three lines of badges related to Soap Box Derby specials.

The first line is based on overall Soap Box Derby special captures. These badges will show the progress of the Soap Box Derby race. The first badge in this line depicts Benson signaling the racers to start and is earned by capping any Part, Junk Box, or Racer!

The second line of badges is based on capping different combinations of Parts to successfully build a Racer, as mentioned above. Make sure to cap at least one of each special so you can build all 6!

Drink and Disc Golf ZEE-Dayz

As today is International Beer Day and tomorrow is National Disc Golf Day we thought it would be fun to combine the celebrations into one unique ZEE-Dayz weekend! Just make sure that you don’t get too tipsy*!

Double Points Details

From the period of Friday, August 5th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, August 7th at 23:59 MHQ, enjoy double points on tPOB Pubs, Drink Depot Places, and Flat Disc Golf Baskets!

Seeing all these icons together, the Flat Disc Golf Basket’s shape does have some similarities with a wine glass, no?

Store Sale!

If your stock of tPOB Pubs has run dry, you’ll find that they’re back in the Freeze Tag Store for the same period as double points!

In addition, if you need more Flat Disc Golf Baskets near you, we’ve got a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” discount at the Freeze Tag Store! You must add 3 Flat Disc Golf Baskets to your cart to use it, and are limited to 2 uses per order (in other words — put 6 in the cart, pay for 4, 2 are free). Flat Disc Golf Scatters Return!

These disc scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

August 2022 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost August! You’ll find all the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. There have been a few issues with activity not counting for some players in the opening minutes of the clan war. Please be sure to give our servers a bit of time to switch from Clan Wars OFF to Clan Wars ON. 🙂 This will ease frustration, just 10 or 15 minutes will make all the difference. We’re happy everyone is so anxious to get started on the 3rd of each month! In addition: Please do not change your clan membership for at least 2 hours after the month ends. The calculations are still being made and it could ruin your efforts.

It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to August 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19.

August ClanPak

Last year, we introduced the ClanPak! While MunzPaks started as a product to aid in Clan Wars, they have transitioned over time. Sometimes you may need a few things to help meet Clan War Requirements, (i.e. magnets, QRowbars, etc.) and reach your goals.

There is a limit of one per player per product/month. You can purchase the August ClanPak HERE! This is NOT a subscription program.

August Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. Since there is Level X this month, there will be a total of 6 badges available in August. The first badge will appear as follows:

Overall Clan Notes:

Please keep in mind Levels 4 & 5 are considered advanced gameplay and not recommended for brand new players. Be aware when allowing new players to join your clans. QRew/ZeeQRew status will be required for any clans earning levels 3, 4 & 5. See qualifications for ZeeQRew here. If you are not a member on August 1st you will not be able to qualify until August 15th. If you lose qualification before the 15th you will not be able to qualify until September 1st.

*Claimed QRates will not carry over from before the clan battle starts. The QRate must be found, opened, and claimed during the month of the current clan battle. This time period begins on the 3rd, same as the clan battle.

*All shards may be redeemed at https://www.munzee.com/redeem
Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.
Reseller caps/deploys include all types of RUM/vRUM/reseller card but NOT reseller gnomes or any scatters.
Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB).
Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social and Universal will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal and Universal will not count for Physical points of any sort.

NEW Flat Lou Scatters for Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift!

Hooray! Progress has been made, and this year real-life Lou and the other Internationelles will be celebrating the first-ever Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift! To join the celebration of this history in the making, we’ve created a NEW set of Flat Lou scatters for you to cap! You may recall the Water Bottle scatters from last year — this time we’ve given everything an upgrade! Read on to learn more!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Monday, July 25th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, July 31st at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Lou, up to 3 French Foods (Grapes, Wedge of Cheese, Baguette) may be scattered nearby! Similarly, when you capture a Fancy Flat Lou, up to 3 of those same French Foods OR Champagne Bottles may be scattered nearby! Said another way, Fancy Flat Lous have the potential to scatter any of the 4 pins shown above, while regular Flat Lous will only scatter the first 3 (starting from the left).

The Foods and Champagne Bottles will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Lou or Fancy Flat Lou owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Foods and Champagne Bottles are as follows:

  • CapOn: 25 points

July 2022 GOTM Winners

The month began with the first day of special deliveries from the UnBirthday Mailbox! As you know, Wonder11and residents come and go as they please, so they’ve arrived at different points throughout the month: the first week saw the March Hare Garden Flamingo, the CH3SHiRE Cat Mech, and the R053 Mech.

The second week saw the SUN Mech and the Wonder11and Playing Cards.

The third week saw the Painted R053 Mech and the C4T3RP1LL4R Mech.

The past week saw the Mad Hatter Garden Gnome, the White Rabbit Yeti, the King and Queen of Hearts, and the Jabberwock!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the July Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded by early August, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

July GOTM

This month, we’ve chosen gardens that were the centerpieces of some festive Munzee Events! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the XI birthday Mad Hatter garden, designed by geomatrix, and the Corgi Garden, designed by CoalCracker7, as our winning July GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

There is also a XI Flamingo Garden with a similar design! However, as we already featured Flamingo Gardens in January, this garden was the obvious choice!

Here’s a note from the player who designed this garden:

This garden was created for our birthday event 2. The Mad Hatter was taken from the UnBirthday Event Attendee Badge and then the garden inspired our event badge and icons.

The team was instantly drawn to this garden as it fits the theme of this month so perfectly! Don’t confuse it with a regular old Leprechaun — as the designer noted, it’s actually from the UnBirthday Event Attendee Badge, which features Rob as the Mad Hatter! Below you can see how their event badge and icons turned out:

Corgi Garden by CoalCracker7 in Lakeland, FL

If the garden is this cute, how much cuter is CoalCracker7’s corgi, Socks? We’d love to see a photo!

Here are some of the notes from the players who nominated this garden:

The Garden was created to coincide with the National Corgi Day event we held on 4 June 2022 in Lakeland. It was appropriate, as 4 June was International Corgi Day and CoalCracker7‘s Birthday. She had a Corgi named Socks that the Garden resembles. In addition, everyone that scanned the event badge was awarded a free Flat Murray. The event was also featured on the Munzee Calendar Page and it was also Flat Murray Scatter Weekend!

This garden was created for an event on International Corgi Day. CC7 worked hard to get this filled quickly for the event she had on Corgi Day. She loves Munzee and the Munzee Community and works tirelessly to keep it interesting for the people around her.

You know we love animals here at MHQ, so this cute Corgi garden was a shoo-in to win! We were also touched to read all the heartwarming notes from the nominators — it sounds like they had a great time at the event, and it’s clear that CoalCracker7 is much loved by her fellow players.

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

The Mad Hatter Garden Gnome Has Arrived!

While brainstorming all the ways we could transform the Munzee map into Wonder11and, we thought it would be fun to bring back last year’s Garden Gnome for a short while. Naturally, we can’t let the March Hare Garden Flamingo celebrate its UnBirthday all by itself!

Mad Hatter Gnome Details

The Mad Hatter Garden Gnome is a temporary POB that will remain on the map for approximately 60 days after this launch — until some time on September 19 — when it will be automatically archived on your account. You may recall that this is similar to the Baby Animals we released in the past. However, after September 19, players with permanent Garden Gnomes can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!
