How Many Caps Will it Take to Travel Around ZEE World?

Yesterday we announced the results of our Soap Box Derby — congratulations again to all the winners! Even if you didn’t get a special badge, we hope you enjoyed the theme and collecting the different racer parts.

Since we’ve officially closed the book on those specials, and it has been a week since they left the map, it’s about time for a new set of specials to collect! This time, we’re mixing it up again, scatter trail style!

Now Boarding!

Around ZEE World specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until October 2 at 23:59 MHQ.

These specials will be released in waves, ending at a total of 400 of each (physical + virtual). This means there will be 800 Tickets bouncing around on the map! They will bounce around every 6 hours or when capped.

These specials will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a Ticket on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Ticket visits you. These munzees will not be blastable. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the Tickets under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

Make the Connection

Once you capture a Ticket to Ride OR Ticket to Fly, it will scatter 1 Steam Powered Roller Blades nearby!

This is your first mode of transportation, as you can see by the “1” at the bottom of the pin.

If you manage to capture it, it has a chance of scattering the next mode of transportation, much like the Walkie Talkie Watch scatters.

There will be 8 modes of transportation you’ll need to cap in order to complete the trip! While a missed connection can happen at any point during your journey, you’ll find that it is more likely to happen as you get closer to the end — just like in real life, small delays can add up to larger ones later on.

These scatters will be worth 50 points upon capture, except for the final mode of transportation, which is worth 100 points.

Badges

There are 4 badges related to Around ZEE World specials.

The first 3 are based on total captures of these specials, so make sure to cap as many as you can — even if you aren’t able to complete the trip, it will still contribute progress towards these badges. You can see the first badge in this line below:

French Connection- Capture 1 Around ZEE World special of any type.

The last badge does require you to make the full trip and capture at least one of each mode of transportation — but you only have to do it once! By our calculations, it shouldn’t take too many attempts on average, unless you’re EXTREMELY unlucky.

Around ZEE World Mailbox Schedules

One especially good thing we learned from Sir Prize Santa is that knowing when the Double Point Weekends and Special Themed Scatter Events are is most helpful in deciding whether or not the mailbox is right for you. So, without further ado, here are the schedules for the Around ZEE World Mailbox!

A ZEE-Dayz to Kick Off Your Around ZEE World Experience!

While our Around ZEE World Mailbox won’t start delivering goodies until the 10th, we wanted to add purpose to this first weekend, especially since many in the US will have a longer weekend to take advantage of!

As we’ve got a bit of wanderlust, from the period of Friday, September 2nd at 12:00 MHQ through Monday, September 5th at 23:59 MHQ, enjoy double capture points AND double capture radius on ALL Places, Historical Locations, and Iconic Locations!

Please note that for the points, only capture points are doubled this time — since the deploy process for Places is quite involved, it would be impractical to double the deploy points for those.

Last week, we released the Memorial and Gym Places, so check out your local area to see if any new ones have popped up near you that you can capture!

Also, on Wednesday, we revealed the H0t A1r Balloon Mech, which lands on the same types featured in this ZEE-Dayz and more! If you haven’t deployed many Places Munzees, you may wish to do so before these Mechz start bouncing around on the map to maximize your points!

September 2022 MunzPak Contents Revealed!

A NEW Mini Mailbox for Around ZEE World Bash!

Yesterday, we announced our plans for the Around ZEE World Bash next month! As you’ve probably guessed, we were inspired by Jules Verne’s classic novel — but instead of 80 days to celebrate, we’ve gone with 8 ZEE-Dayz to make things a bit more manageable, as you’ll see below. If you were a fan of the UnBirthday Card Collectors Club or Valentines Card Collectors Club, here’s another club you’re sure to love! We are excited to introduce the Around ZEE World Mailbox, which you’re able to purchase starting NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

We’re doing something a little different this time — expect a surprise inside every Saturday and Sunday from September 10 to October 2! Like the UBCCC, Club members will receive virtual items only.

You’ll need an Around ZEE World Mailbox Munzee to receive your goodies! While they’ll only arrive on the weekends as mentioned above, you can continue to cap the mailbox on weekdays (helpful to keep streaks up!) as you can see below:

When you deploy this new game piece nearby it will only be visible to AND cappable by you. IT MUST BE DEPLOYED IN APP! To ensure that you are able to capture this new game piece each day, you’ll also be able to update its location if you’ll be traveling at any point during the mailbox period. You can only move the mailbox in app and do NOT need to undeploy first. We really don’t want you to miss out! It is very important you capture it each weekend.

The mailbox can be captured up to 1000 feet away and is found under the Virtuals filter but ONLY visible to the OWNER. It will be archived after October 2nd.

How the Around ZEE World Mailbox Works

Starting September 10th at 00:01 MHQ, each weekend you cap your Around ZEE World Mailbox you will be awarded a different Around ZEE World-themed Greeting Card capture, similar to the UBCCC. Please note that you’ll only be able to earn that specific card on that day, so you really don’t want to miss a day. Once you cap that card you’ll earn points, and you may also get some extra prizes!

As this is a mini Mailbox, there is only 1 Club Membership you can purchase HERE. As stated above, you can deploy the Around ZEE World Mailbox right away and get 10 days of extra caps before the actual mailbox period starts!

  • Around ZEE World Card Collectors Club is available for $10 and includes the NEW Around ZEE World Mailbox, which will deliver 8 Greeting Card munzees for you to capture PLUS a matching Around ZEE World Card each day for you to deploy, maybe near a friend? That’s 8 new cards to deploy on top of the 8 you can cap! You’ll also get some special bonuses scattered throughout the mailbox period, which could be double points days, exclusive specials or scatters to cap, credits or undeployed munzees, etc. Lastly, you’ll also get a NEW H0t A1r Balloon Mech!

If you’re interested, you can purchase it in the FT Store! You will still be able to purchase these Club Memberships into September, but you won’t be able to earn rewards from the days that have passed. We suggest purchasing your Club Membership as soon as possible to start learning the mysteries of the mailbox and prepare for September fun!

H0t A1r Balloon Mech Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the H0t A1r Balloon is a temporary POB. The H0t A1r Balloon will remain on the map until it has been captured 5 times, as you can see below. You will receive a fully-built H0t A1r Balloon that will auto-deploy on 00:01 MHQ on September 10th. You will also receive the Blueprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future.

You can find these balloon bots floating to the landing pads above every 6 hours or when captured.

H0t A1r Balloons will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a H0t A1r Balloon on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same H0t A1r Balloon visits you. H0t A1r Balloons are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access them by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When a H0t A1r Balloon is captured, it will scatter up to 3 PYROpellars.

These scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Mech owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

  • Around ZEE World Mailbox deploy badge — deploying a Around ZEE World Mailbox will earn you a special badge that you can see below.

  • H0t A1r Balloon deploy badge — deploying a H0t A1r Balloon mech will earn you the corresponding Blueprint badge. We’ll keep what it looks like a secret for now.

September 2022 Skin: Oktoberfest Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into September with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your August capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Motorist Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early September. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

August Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $5.

How to have a permanent Flamingo on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year
    • Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

What Flamingo Skin can you look forward to earning in September? The bubbly Oktoberfest Garden Flamingo! Like the other flamingos, the Oktoberfest Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to complete next month’s (September’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in October, you can change the skin on the flamingo to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

You can find these buzzed birds drinking at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

NEW Places Munzees to Add Significance to the Map!

Continuing our Player AppreZEEation initiative, we’ve made some improvements to Places Munzees and developed 2 NEW ones that have been frequently requested. Let’s start with the changes first, before showing you the new stuff!

Important Updates!

Just in case you’ve recently purchased some Places and are interested in picking these up, we’ve reset the timers and changed the limit to one per account per 15 days for ALL Places.

In addition, one of the issues brought up in this post was that bouncers that land on Places change the cap radius to less than 500 feet — this has now been fixed, so hopefully this makes capping those bouncers easier!

NEW Places Details

Joining the ever-growing roster of Places are the Memorial and Gym. These have been added to the Freeze Tag store as of 12:00 MHQ today. Shop the Memorial Place HERE and the Gym Place HERE!

Both are vital to keeping up our health — the former mentally and the latter physically — AND we got the idea for these types from you, the players, so we’re confident they’ll be a welcome addition to the game. As with other Places Munzees, these can be captured daily! They will also contribute progress towards the Places Capture badge line and the Places Streak badge line.

For more information on how to deploy a Places munzee, you can check out our Help Guide article. This document will be updated with our guidelines should any changes occur. Please note that these new places should be easily identifiable from Google Maps.

Deploy Guidelines:

Remember a Places Munzee has to have its location approved for deployment, so please be sure to read through these guidelines carefully. It is also very helpful for you to update the name and notes of the Munzee so our reviewers can verify it quickly to get it deployed for you.

Memorial: This is for memorials and locations of remembrance. For example, this Veterans Memorial near MHQ. As these places can take many different forms and can honor different subjects, this one can be quite tricky to define. In addition, a place may have the word “Memorial” in the name, but may not actually fit our intention with this game piece. One good rule of thumb is to review the other Places we’ve already released, and see if the location you’re planning to deploy at might fit any of the other Places better. Some Places we anticipate being related to this type are: University Places, Faith Places, Historical Places, Hospital Places, Cemetery Places, Unique Attraction Places, and Play Park Places.

Gym: This is for places where you can get some exercise! Think gyms and fitness centers. Before you ask — no, Pokémon GO gyms don’t count! Not to be confused with Sports Stadium Places, Play Park Places, or Entertainment Places.

Places Munzees are very unique due to the much larger cap radius (as compared with other munzee types) and aforementioned daily capture ability. As you can’t capture your own munzees, trade Places munzees with other players to make the most of your deploys!

August 2022 GOTM Winners

Phew, is it that time of the month already? It feels like our Player AppreZEEation Month just started!

We began the month with our Melon flashMOB! Later in the week we had our Drink and Disc Golf ZEE-Dayz which gave you another chance at the special Flat Disc Golf Basket scatter badges, along with double points! At the end of the week, we asked you what you’d like to see for Player AppreZEEation month, which gave us some good projects to work on!

The next week  we released our ongoing Soap Box Derby specials, which we hope everyone is enjoying! The day after that, we had our Reduced Cog Cost ZEE-Dayz, which allowed players to build Mechz at half the cost in the Redeem Store.

Just last week, we kicked off our second annual RUM ZEE-Dayz, to share the love with our Authorized Resellers! A few days later, we had major outages with app which we’re sure you noticed — our team worked tirelessly to figure out what the issue was (turned out to be related to AWS) and get it resolved. In the meantime, Rob and Lou bravely pushed through with the Player AppreZEEation Award Ceremony to give players something to enjoy while the app was down. Lastly, we released some new Limited Edition Greeting Cards perfect for teachers and students heading back to school!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the August Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded by early September, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

August GOTM

In keeping with our theme of Player AppreZEEation, we’ve chosen gardens that kept the party going! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Downham Cheshire Cat garden, designed by poshrule, and the Sprinkle Cupcake Garden, designed by CoalCracker7, as our winning August GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

We also like the detail of Electric Mysteries for the cat’s glowing eyes!

Here’s a note from the player who nominated this garden:

The cat’s smile is on the flat layer, and the face on the main virtual layer, so in the true spirit of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, if one turns off the virtual layer, you are just left with the cat’s enduring smile……..! Brilliant!

As the nominator pointed out, this choice of munzee types is quite clever and so fitting for the character! We used the mobile app to take another screenshot here, so you can see what it looks like with just the Flats:

Sprinkle Cupcake by CoalCracker7 in Plant City, FL

We love the contrast created by the warm berry tones of the cupcake against the bright blue and green cupcake liner!

Here’s a note from the player who designed this garden:

We are hosting an event on 5 February, Sugar and Sweet, along with the Gumball Machine event just a week before Valentine’s Day. The theme for the Sugar and Sweet is a cupcake, so we did a sprinkle cupcake with white and pink frosting and jewel sprinkles along with a cherry on top!

CoalCracker7 does it again! Last month we chose her popular Corgi garden, and until writing this blog did not realize it’s been back-to-back wins! Kudos to her and her fellow hosts for coming up with fun themes for their events, and of course to CoalCracker7 for her wonderful garden designs that match those themes! We’re sure this event was a sweet success!

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.
