Changes to Joining a Clan

By now, you’ve probably seen at least one of the posts we put out earlier this month encouraging you to give Clan Wars a try! While we’ll continue to monitor your feedback on the Clan War Requirements, they aren’t the only things we’re looking to change and improve.

We want to ensure a competitive and fair battleground, so certain changes have been made regarding how players can join a clan. Moving forward players will only be able to join a clan until the 12th of each month. After the 12th you will be unable to join a new clan. When the 13th day of the month starts at MHQ it will be TOO late.

To help newer players take part in Clan Wars we’ll still allow accounts 90 days old and under to join all month long, but we still encourage solidifying your team by the 12th. We appreciate your understanding that these changes will benefit the integrity of Clan Wars as a whole.

As part of the app update that enforces this change, error popups have been added that will clearly show this new rule. That way, even those who haven’t yet seen this post should be aware of the new rule once they see the popups. This goes into effect October 13, 2022 – so be sure you join a clan BEFORE then if you are interested this month.

Redeem Pumpkoins for Prizes!

You’ve heard of Candy Corn Credits, C04L Credits, Sham Rock Credits, and Painted Rose Credits — now get ready for Pumpkoin Credits! After reviewing the activity on Painted Rose Credits and making some improvements (we hope ?) we’ve created a new limited-time credit for you to earn and redeem!

Like Jewel Shards, Weapon Shards, and Cogs, you’ll be able to redeem Pumpkoin Credits (PC) at the Redeem Store for game pieces. However, like the past limited-time credits, they can only be redeemed until 02:30 MHQ on Thursday, November 3rd (when November Clan Wars starts).

How to Earn Pumpkoin Credits

Pumpkoin Credits can be earned from now until 23:59 MHQ on Monday, October 31st.

As usual, the most up-to-date list of what’s available will be what you see on munzee.com/redeem. So make sure to spend your credits each week!

The rewards/rates may change from time to time, but to start off with, this is what we have planned:

Enter the Candy Crypt, if You Dare!

This October, to get you in the mood for all things scary and spooky, we’ve gone a bit more gruesome with our themed specials — but with a sugary twist as you’ll see later on. For now, expect to see the usual trimmings of Halloween decor — think skeletons and monster parts — with a few sweet surprises mixed in. These specials are live NOW until 23:59 MHQ time on November 6th!

Candy Crypt Specials

These specials will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 2,000 Mummy Caskets and 2,000 Vampire Coffins. Though there will only be one icon shown on the map, at launch there are a possibility of 3 different icons for each (a total of 6 different results!) revealed after this special is captured.

Each icon will correspond with a different artifact that will not be visible until captured, similar to how the Magic 8 Ball specials worked. More artifacts will appear as the month goes on, so make sure to keep an eye out!

They will bounce around every 2 hours or when capped.

These munzees will not be blastable. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the Candy Crypt specials under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

Badges

There is also a line of 5 new badges to earn. They are all based on receiving specific combinations of the results.

Since, as mentioned above, more artifacts will appear as the month goes on, at launch it is only possible to earn one of the badges, but we’ll keep it a secret for now.

A Peek at Pumpkoins

When you capture a Candy Crypt special, you have the chance to earn 1 Pumpkoin, which you can see below:

These will work just like past limited-time credits, for example the Candy Corn Credits (the first of their kind!) or the Painted Rose Credits (the most recent one before this one).

You can check out the new Pumpkoins (Week 1) tab in the Redeem Store by clicking HERE.

While everyone can earn Pumpkoins as usual, you’ll notice we’ve changed some rules in how they can be redeemed in the “Week X” tabs:

  • Some items can only be redeemed by Premium Members
  • Of the items available to all, non-Premium Members are limited to 1 redemption, whereas Premium Members will be able to redeem up to the max limit we’ve set

Flat Friends/Objects are part of this month’s Clan War Requirements! To encourage more Clan War gameplay, we’ve moved requirements for specific munzee types, including those for Flat Friends/Objects, out of the Individual Requirements and into the Clan Requirements. We hope this allows your clan more flexibility in planning how to tackle each level!

We’ve also got quite a few events going on during this ZEE-Dayz! Don’t forget to check out the Munzee Calendar to see where you might like to deploy some munzees to get some capon points! While Greeting Cards are much easier to deploy due to their temporary nature, you may want to save them for the weekend of the 13th through the 16th as mentioned above. Then again, Greeting Cards are such a bargain, so you may decide to deploy both Greeting Cards AND Flats, if you can find the perfect spots on the map!

LAN Chops are temporary POBs that will remain on the map until they have been captured 5 times. When you purchase a MunzPak, you will receive a fully-built LAN Chop that auto-deploys. You will also receive the Blueprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future. For now, these Mechz will be available in this month’s MunzPak only — meaning the deadline to get one is 23:59 MHQ on Monday, October 31st.

You can find these marbled mechz sizzling at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

When a LAN Chop is captured, it will scatter up to 3 GRILL Guys. These will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the LAN Chop owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn rewards for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well. These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

October 2022 Skin: Flaminghost

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into October with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your September capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Oktoberfest Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early October. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

September Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $4.

How to have a permanent Flamingo on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year
    • Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

September 2022 GOTM Winners

It feels like our Around ZEE World journey so far has gone by so fast! We started the month with a simple ZEE-Dayz that awarded double capture points on Places, Historical Locations, and Iconic Locations. On the weekend, the first Around ZEE World Bash events took place, with Mari and Tamara making an appearance at the So Cal Sept Event!

The next week, we announced the winners of the Soap Box Derby, and then kicked off our next set of specials — this time, we tried something new and had them scatter a trail of munzees to follow, so you could have your own challenge to travel Around ZEE World! Other items of note: we kicked off our Discord launch with 7 days of giveaways, the Around ZEE World Mailbox received its first deliveries, and Rob and Lou made an appearance at the Westcliff September 2022 event.

The week after that, we posted a call for more volunteer translators, checked in on Dale & Barb’s road trip, and hosted a special Worldwide Sale, which included a NEW Pouch Creature and also NEW Greeting Cards suggested by you! On the weekend, Dylan appeared with special guest Matt at the Touchdown in KC event — although Matt is technically not part of the team anymore, it still felt right to create a Traveling Team Badge for him. After all, he has been one of the faces of Munzee for years, and clearly still enjoys meeting up with players!

This week, we’ve just released the latest Secret ZeeOp — but keep an eye out for more Around ZEE World content before the month is out!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the September Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded by early October, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

September GOTM

This month, we’ve chosen gardens that highlight royalty Around ZEE World! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award The Queen’s Crown garden, designed by Spice, and the Zamek Piastów garden, designed by GRZYBACZE, as our winning September GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:

The Queen’s Crown by Spice in Weston-super-Mare, United Kingdom

This garden is certainly fit for a queen with all of the Virtual Jewels it’s composed of!

The nominator pointed out that this garden was dedicated to nuttynan, who is certainly a queenly presence in the Munzee community!

On a sadder note, we also couldn’t help but be reminded of the recent loss of Queen Elizabeth II, so this garden seemed like a timely choice for a GOTM winner.

Zamek Piastów by GRZYBACZE in Legnica, Lower Silesia voivodeship, Poland

This garden shows a castle that is fortified with many Crossbows and Catapults! We would guess that the real Zamek Piastów would have been fortified in a similar manner during Medieval times.

Here’s a note from the player who nominated this garden:

In my city (Legnica), there is a castle called “Zamek Piastów,” which means “Piast Castle.” It is one of the oldest castles in Poland.

For those unfamiliar with the word “Piast,” according to Merriam-Webster.com the word refers to “a member of the first dynasty of Polish rulers that ended with the death of Casimir III in 1370.” Going by the nominator’s words, this definition seems accurate, as it makes sense for one of the oldest castles in Poland to have been built during the 1st dynasty. If we ever get the chance to travel to Poland in the future, this is definitely one historical landmark we’d love to visit!

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Secret ZeeOps- Operation: Sweet Streams (September 2022)

All caught up with Secret ZeeOps and looking for more? Here’s a new one available in the ZeeOps Hub for the usual cost of 1,500 Zeds. For now, it will be available for purchase until 23:59 MHQ on October 31. If you’ve purchased a Secret ZeeOp, you will be able to complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

We need you to engage in a little digital piracy — and we don’t mean watching movies or shows illegally! If you complete ALL the missions in Operation: Sweet Streams, you’ll receive the snazzy badge below, along with the CHUG Boat Mech (more info below!) and various other rewards listed in the app!

There are 3 levels. Level 1 has 3 missions, Level 2 has 5 missions, and Level 3 has 5 missions. Each level ends with more prizes.

We may share this information moving forward with other Operations but possibly not.

NEW Mech Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the CHUG Boat is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 15 times.

CHUG Boats are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access CHUG Boats by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When a CHUG Boat is captured, it will scatter up to 3 AnCOREs.

  • CapOn: 25

These scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Mech owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! Around ZEE World Sale & ZEE-Dayz Part II!

At the start of the month, we had a simple ZEE-Dayz so that everyone could enjoy Labor Day weekend with us, whether you’re based in the US or not! Now that we’re halfway through, we thought that you may be running out of supplies on your Around ZEE World journey, which just won’t do if you’re to make it within 8 ZEE-Dayz!

NEW Pouch Creature Details

Previously, the Mitmegu was unique in that it evolved based on its host munzee. We’ve just discovered a new Pouch Creature that has the same evolution pattern, though with just one form it can evolve into — meet Sparbee, the flame dwelling firefly! Pouch Creatures are bouncing munzees based on items from our sister app, WallaBee.

When the Bouncer Upgrade credit is used, your Sparbee / Sparfox will also have the ability to be “nudged” to a new munzee. You can use the nudge feature up to three times a day (MHQ 24-hour day), but only after your munzee has sat for at least 3 hours. Additionally, the Bouncer Upgrade will also allow you to rename your Sparbee / Sparfox! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize your Pouch Creature’s moniker. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct, and be mindful of maintaining a family friendly environment!

Sparbee / Sparfox will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Sparbee / Sparfox on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Sparbee / Sparfox visits you. Sparbee / Sparfox will be non-blastable. The capture radius is 500 ft (152.4 m). They will be attracted to Magnets. You can access Sparbee / Sparfox under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Pouch Creatures” filters.
