Gearing Up for Spring Events!

Well Rob, errr, Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow this morning, and an early Spring was predicted! That’s good because the Munzee team is ready to get out to events! Here is a list of some we’re going to!

3/19: Beyond the Pale

Matt is going to Vancouver (assuming freak tornadoes don’t keep him grounded again) to help kick off Easter events at the Beyond the Pale event. “Leprechaun wearing a cowboy hat”, huh? He may be able to work something out there.

That’s what we have scheduled so far, but we don’t want to stop there! If you’ve got an event planned already and want someone from MHQ there, let us know by emailing louise@munzee.com! We want to get out and grow the community as much as we can. If you haven’t planned an event yet, there’s still time! Get Ready for Easter Celebrations!

Following the fun of the Christmas parties we would like to offer you the opportunity to celebrate Easter with your Munzee friends and families too!

We are inviting you to add your Easter Celebrations to the calendar for 3 weeks between Thursday 17th March – Sunday 10th April inclusive at https://calendar.munzee.com/submit/.

There will be a badge for all attendees and a surprise from the Easter Bunny. We’d love to see you getting involved and taking part in our Easter Bonnet Parade, with a badge to be won at each event for the best effort. There will be 4 different packages for the hosts, each one with a badge too:
Baby Chick – Basic event with no proximity ($30)
Family Gathering – Baby Chick plus some temporary specials ($35 and up)
Decorated Egg – Family Gathering plus Badge & Icon ($135 and up)
The Easter Parade – Decorated Egg plus Eventzee ($185 and up)

There is also the option of a Magic Egg for $20 per event where every attendee wins a credit item when they capture it.

We will accept requests for customised badges and icons until Friday 19th Feb, after that we will move to generic artwork choices.

New Virtual and Virtual Emerald Gardens

We’ve received a lot of questions and suggestions regarding gardens recently, so we want to address some and make a few announcements.

Emerald Gardens

Because Emerald Gardens are special release, we realize that not everyone is within close proximity to them. We are adding 5 Emerald Gardens to the map starting today at 15:00 CST. These pins are available for purchase at http://store.munzee.com/products/emerald-garden-pin and are limited in number. These locations, which are listed in the store description, have been suggested to us as hotspots for activity. We’ve added them to give more people the ability to take advantage of them for Double Point Weekend.

NOTE: There are a limited number of pins available. There is NO limit on the number of Virtual Emeralds you can buy, so please be courteous of other players.

Virtual Gardens

As we’ve said before, growing and maintaining our community is our focus for this year. A large part of this initiative is helping and encouraging the expansion of smaller and new areas. One of the ways we will be doing this will be placing virtual gardens in these areas. Over the course of the year, we will be deploying gardens all over the world. If you’d like to submit a location for a possible garden, you can go here.

The New Munzee Store is Live!

Despite a few hiccups, the soft opening for the new Munzee online store was a success. After bug fixes and product additions, we’re pleased to announce that the new store is online! Moving forward, this will be the full-time Munzee online store. There are a few things to take notice of:

The new store URL is munzeestore.myshopify.com. The old URL (store.munzee.com) will redirect you to the new store, and the old store is no longer active.
The new store also includes Eventzee, Runzee, and WallaBee merchandise. When you check out, you are asked for you Munzee/WallaBee username. If you are buying products for both games and have different usernames for them, we suggest you make two separate orders to make sure that the items are awarded to the correct accounts.
If you have a discount code or gift certificate for the old store, please email support@munzee.com to get a replacement for use in the new store. Gift certificates and discount codes awarded before today WILL NOT work in the new store.
If you have an issue or question about your orders in the new store, please use the contact form located on the store website or email support@munzee.com.

Our goal with the new Munzee store is to provide you with new, exciting products (both gameplay and merchandise). If you have suggestions or want to see something new in the store, email iloveyou@munzee.com, and we’ll see what we can do!

Munzee Fitness Challenge Winners

Last week we announced the Munzee Fitness Challenge in conjunction with the release of Munzee 3.1 and the introduction of Munzee Fitness. All you had to do was deploy a minimum of 60 greenies over the weekend, and you were entered to win a Fitbit Flex or gift cards to the Munzee Store.

We had over 80 people complete the challenge, totaling over 5000 greenie deploys. The usernames of the players who completed the challenge were put in a pot, and the three winners were chosen at random. They will be contacted shortly regarding their prizes.

Munzee with Team Munzee

As part of our mission statement and theme for this year, we’re introducing a new activity. On the last Friday of every month, Team Munzee is going to get back to our roots and community. We will be going out and playing Munzee as a team. We invite players in the area to come join us on our adventures.

Our first Munzee with Team Munzee day will be next Friday, January 29th. We will be in Frisco, Texas from 9:15-11:15 MHQ time. You can find all of the information on the calendar and can let us know if you’ll be joining us!

Each month we will add the event to the Munzee Calendar and promote it on the blog an social media. We hope you can join us!

Newz from the Prez

I wanted to take a few minutes and update everyone on several issues we are facing. The first is the release of iOS 9 and our subsequent blog post about how it would effect the use of our app. We appreciate the patience of our Apple phone using players as we patiently wait for version 3.0.2 to be approved by Apple. The second issue has been our announcement of removal of our 2.x apps from Google Play and the App store on October 1st. Many suggestions have been made about alternatives, however several core components to the app were due for renewal from their providers. With the release of 3.0 and the new core components the time was right to cut off the other services. We realize both of these issues are not optimal for our worldwide players but we are working to come up with the best solutions possible. To help ease some of the pain we’ve come up with something fun for all players! 🙂

As a thank you to our loyal players we are opening up the prize vault this weekend. From 00:01 September 18 until 23:59 September 20 you will have a chance to win random prizes from MHQ (all times are MHQ based, GMT -6). These prizes will be added to your credits or your undeployed list. Every capture and/or deploy during this time has a chance to earn you a prize so get out there and Grow the Map or paint the town red! Prizes include virtuals, mystery virtuals, virtual colors, motels, aquamarines, diamonds, rubies, and even blast captures! We wish you good luck and hope you spend some time this weekend with Munzee, family, and friends.

Munzee 3.0 is Here!

This past year has brought quite a few changes in the Munzee Universe. Not only has Team Munzee grown but we’ve also grown our company to include new apps and ventures. Through it all, we never lost track of our core. Our company, and family, is built on the Munzee app and community. We’ve spent an extremely large amount of time and energy planning, designing, building, and refining the Munzee 3.0 update, and now, we’re ready to release it to the world.

The Munzee 3.0 app is not just an update, but a complete redesign intended to improve the experience for you, the player. Some of the changes include:

No more Home Screen. Loading the app now takes you to the most important screen, the map!
A new profile page that provides all of your information in one place
An improved messaging system that provides real-time communication and notifications
An in-app leaderboard section that provides detailed and up-to-date information

We’ve added many new premium features to this fancy app as well.

Removal of ads – can be turned on/off under settings in app
ADVANCED FILTERS
Multi User Login (up to 3 users)
Daily Leaderboard with almost real-time stats
Upgraded options to show up to 2000 munzees on map
Titles
Ability to add pictures at location of Munzee (upcoming badge series to be earned)

In order to give more people access we are lowering the price of the premium membership until 11:00AM September 4, 2015 from $30 to $23. You’ve never participated in a Clan War but want to? You’re a clan admin who needs more players? We have the perfect solution on a trial basis this month. Visit the Munzee Clan Market and search for a clan or players. We hope this will be a useful tool in recruiting new players and getting all clans filled to 10 players. Remember clans with 10 players have an internal competition, we assign prizes to the top 3 finishers. Will your clan go for the gold this month? Good luck!

What is the exclusive MHQ virtual? This will be a special virtual deployed automagically by MHQ in a designated area near the MHQ events. It is a temporary game piece to be archived by MHQ on October 15th. The points earned will be worth achieving these levels. ***edited 9/14/15
