Focus on the Foundation of Any Exercise Routine With November 2020’s Resolution!

Have you been indulging in some Halloween candy that you were planning on passing out to trick-or-treaters this year? Or indulging in popular pumpkin spice-flavored treats? While there’s no need to deprive yourself of these sweets, make sure to save some room for foods that will help you meet your daily nutritional needs!

As we announced in our January Resolutions blog, we will be launching monthly Capture Streak Badges centered on a year of being active. Each month’s badge will be dedicated to practicing a different exercise. Similar to how our Super Streak badges operate, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. This month’s badge may be tricky to get, but we believe in you!

Each month’s badge will be themed around the particular resolution goal. For November, instead of a specific exercise, we’re highlighting the importance of a healthy diet! While you can certainly enjoy healthy foods via juicing as shown in the badge art below, don’t feel obligated to try it, especially if it would require you to purchase a new appliance. As we’re sure you already know, there’s more to health than kale smoothies!

Why has juicing gotten so popular?

Veggies seem like they take a lot of prep work since, generally, you need to wash them, remove inedible/unappetizing  parts, and finally, chop them up before you can start cooking them. That’s quite a bit more manual labor than shaking a box of dried pasta into a pot of boiling water or dumping a chunk of meat into a hot oiled pan. Because of this, the appeal of juicing is understandable — after doing all that prep work, you just pop the veggie bits into a juicer and you’re good to go!

But, if you prefer your veggies cooked, it doesn’t take that much more effort to do so — a lot of veggies taste great with minimal cooking. For example, Brussels sprouts are one of the most disliked vegetables here in the US, but they’re actually quite tasty when they’re simply sautéed or stir-fried with a bit of olive oil or butter, and seasoned with salt and pepper. The only thing to watch out for is overcooking them, which would give them a bitter taste. Once you see a bit of caramelization, quickly remove them from the pan! Green beans and sweet potatoes can be prepared this way as well, and instead of using the stove, you could also roast them for a short time in the oven. If you feel like going to a little more effort, adding some minced garlic to cook alongside these veggies is sure to be a success. What are some other simple but tasty ways to prepare vegetables that you recommend?

Before you attempt any exercise, it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor**. Good luck and Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

** MUNZEE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY EXERCISE-RELATED INJURIES

Put on These 20/20 Vision Munzees for Instant Glamour!

With a distinctive shape and pearly accents in the upper corners, we think these glasses are the perfect accessory to wear at your next Sock Hop! These classic shades were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. While typically viewed as a more feminine style of eyewear, we think there are options out there for everyone! Read on for some inspiration!

Only ten Cat-Eye Glasses will be deployed, and they will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Physical Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Cat-Eye Glasses will add this fabulously feline Purr-fect Vision badge to your collection! Also, as of July we’ve released the details on the overall capture line — the post is HERE if you missed it!

While the glasses depicted in the pin and badge art are certainly a sweet choice for those who enjoy retro style, perhaps you’d prefer a more modern example? Though The Matrix was released in 1999, the fashion still seems modern by today’s standards — and the striking sunglasses worn by the character Trinity have a unique shape while still meeting the “cat-eye” criteria. As they are black in color and give off a more insectoid appearance, they can be considered a unisex alternative to the typical cat-eye pair. Curious about how these glasses were made? According to Fashionista.com, costume designer Kym Barrett first drew up the designs of each character’s signature pair. Then glasses designer Richard Walker made each pair according to her specifications by hand. To ensure that these custom lenses would be a perfect fit, head molds of each glasses-wearing actor were made, and then cast in plaster! The process may seem extravagant, but there’s no denying that the extra effort definitely paid off! Where else have you seen such sensational sunglasses?

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique 20/20 Vision specials will launch throughout the year so keep on the lookout — you won’t want to miss out on these bouncing bifocals!

Show us how you Munzee! Tweet us @Munzee or be sure to post a photo and mention us on Facebook (@Munzee) or Instagram (@munzeeapp). Good luck, and Munzee on!

A Roosa By Any Other Name Would Sparkle As Brilliantly!

We think this beautiful blush-colored stone will be a hit among Funfinity Stone fans and pink fans alike! Like the Akvamariin, it is another stone created for Munzee — past stones were borrowed from our sister app WallaBee! Joining the other Funfinity Stones, please welcome the Roosa!

These Player Owned Bouncers (POB) resemble the Jewel Munzees, which they also bounce to! The Roosa is available NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Be sure to shop fast, because these Funfinity Stones will leave the store at 15:00 MHQ on Monday, Oct 19! Like the other Funfinity Stones, players can purchase a Roosa for $10. No upgrade ability is available. Topaas and Oniks will also be available during this time. You can shop the whole collection HERE!

Roosa Details

Roosa joins the current line of Pouch Creatures as a physical munzee that will bounce to Greenie, Fire Mystery, Pink Diamond, and Treehouse Munzees every 6 hours or when capped.

It will have the same point values as the other Funfinity Stones:

  • Deploy: 250
  • Capture: 200 Points
  • CapOn: 250 Points
  • CapOn (Host Owner): 200 points

Roosa will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Roosa on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Roosa visits you. It will be attracted to Physical Magnets on all 4 of its landing pads. You can access Roosa under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

New Badge!

Deploying an Roosa will earn you the following badge:

Roosa Funfinity Stone- Deploy Roosa Pouch Creature.

Additionally, any Roosa captures will help you progress in both the Unique Funfinity Stone Capture badge line and the Pouch Creature Capture badge line. As a reminder, you can see the first of each of these badge lines below:

If you want to brush up on any Pouch Creature knowledge, be sure to check out our Help Guide!

Munzee on!

**We understand chasing after physical jewels like Pink Diamonds won’t be an option for some right now, but luckily these little critters will pop into Treehouses as well, and are attracted to magnets on all their landing pads!

Bash from the Past Eventzee Hunt Winners!

On September 21, we kicked off our first Eventzee hunt in the new app! The hunt ended as of the 31st, and we were happy to see the warm response from those who participated! We periodically reviewed photo and video submissions throughout the hunt’s active period so you could see what others were up to in the feed, but as we expected, we weren’t able to keep with everyone!

To give you the results in a timely manner, as promised, we reviewed ALL the submissions from the players that were in the top 10 on the leaderboard. Depending on the quality of the photo/video submissions and the accuracy of the text submissions, the ranking may have shifted a bit. Some may have gone out of the top 10, in which case, we reviewed ALL the submissions for the new player that made it in, until the final top 10 consisted of players who’ve been thoroughly reviewed by us. So, without further ado, here are the winners:

  1. monrose
  2. TamiEarthAngel
  3. johnsjen
  4. Isopun2
  5. Rufnredy
  6. Jafo43
  7. Aufbau
  8. GroundFox
  9. Neta
  10. CoalCracker7

These hardworking Eventzee players will receive Zeds based on how they ranked! Zeds are our in-app currency which allow you to buy things ranging from Magnets to special item packs that aren’t available anywhere else! If you want to learn more about Zeds, check out our Help Guide article HERE!

Agents, We’re Recognizing Your Service With A New Badge Line!

In August, we announced that we’d be making some tweaks to the ZeeOps program and that there would be no ZeeOps in September. Whether there will be ZeeOps this month still remains to be seen — however, in the spirit of this year’s bash theme (at least 1/7th of the theme anyways), we wanted to reward our dedicated ZeeOps agents for all the hard work they’ve done so far!

This new line of badges is for overall captures of Zeecret Weapon Munzees! There are 6 capture badges to earn with art depicting all the cool gadgets and gizmos you might use while you’re out in the field!

Captures of the following munzees will count toward these badges:

  • Briefcase
  • Dossier
  • Night Vision Goggles
  • Infrared

They are live as of 12:00 MHQ today. We won’t spoil all of the badges, but you can check out the first badge in the line below:

Spy Kit- Capture 25 Zeecret Weapons of any type.

As these badge lines are retroactive, you may have already met the requirements for some of them, and should see them on your account soon! If not, please wait a few days as our system catches up with awarding these new badges to everyone who has earned them, before contacting support.

If you want to learn more about Zeecret Weapons, check out our Help Guide article!

Happy hunting, and Munzee on!

Event Spotlight: Blast in the Park II

While Munzee can certainly be a solo game if you choose, there’s no denying the appeal in meeting others who share your interests. Munzee Events are perhaps the best example of this, as they allow you to meet both old and new players in a safe, friendly environment. On top of that, there are usually activities, games, and — if you’re lucky — goodie bags! That being said, planning events requires a considerable amount of effort. So, to make it easier for prospective hosts (and maybe even recurring hosts), we decided to put the spotlight on past events, Munzee-Toolkit style! We hope this series of posts will inspire you to try hosting an event if you never have before, or provide you with ideas to spice up future events if you’re an old hand at it!

Today we’re featuring the Blast in the Park II event, which took place on June 27, 2015 at Melbourne, FL and was hosted by DalenBarb and SpaceCoastGeoStore.

Give us a brief summary about your event!

This was a coexist event that we hosted along with our annual Picnic in the Park geocaching event that draws between 250-350 geocachers each year. This event drew close to 100 attendees.

What tips do you have when hosting an awesome event?

When we started as many others we come from a geocaching background. One of the things we love about both is the friends we have made. One thing we have learned with hosting events is players really enjoy capping munzees at events but they also love to socialize and meet other players. We always try to add some socializing aspect to our events. Do not plan too many activities that keep players too busy to have time to interact with each other. We also like to add event munzees for the event. We started the idea of using survey flags back in 2015 while co-hosting an event with annabanana in Nebraska. We arrived at the location and found nothing to attach event munzees to and she said her husband (wemissmo) had some flags. So we used those and they worked great and now folks all over are using these type flags for event munzees. We also like to give out prizes for players that walk around and cap all event munzees. Being in Florida we try to make sure we always have some cold drinks to keep players hydrated, very important here. One final thing, grow the map in the area prior to the event. Incorporate those munzees into your event activities and earn lots of cap on points.

What made your event unique?

We created the Space Coast Geocachers back in 2007 and have been hosting this annual geocaching event ever since. In 2014 we created the Florida Munzee Hunters group that ignited players all over Florida to get involved in the game of munzee. This event really kick started the large community of players across Florida that we know today. One of the most unique things about this event was Rob aka President of Munzee was in attendance as well as all four of the Florida geocaching reviewers which is very rare in itself. We had Safari Todd at this event who is an exotic animal handler. He always brings a live alligator to the event and one of our eventzee clues was to get your pic holding a live alligator.

Would you like to highlight any future events you’re hosting?

Blast in the Park on February 20th at Wickham Park Melbourne, Florida (not on the calendar yet).

Thank you to DalenBarb and SpaceCoastGeoStore for being such great hosts and submitting the details for this event! We will be reaching out to other past event hosts in the future, so keep an eye on your inbox!

September 2020 GOTM Winners + October POTM Requirements!

Last year, we were planning to celebrate this year’s bash on Friday, September 25. Unfortunately, as you know, COVID-19 had other plans. Instead of the usual in-person events we traditionally enjoy, we had to seriously brainstorm how we’d handle it virtually this year. So far, we’ve released the Universal, specials commemorating past bash years with a complimentary and complementary Eventzee hunt, had a double points weekend, a 20% off sale, and as of yesterday, a Limited Edition Greeting Card. And there’s still more to come — just because the month is ending doesn’t mean the celebration will! We are now happy to announce the winners of the September Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for September Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for October POTM! The badges for September GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early October, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

September GOTM

As part of this year’s “Bash from the Past” theme we released a ZeeOps Transmission icon to signify the original announcement of ZeeOps at bash years ago. Some of you may have also noticed one of the badges from this special also teases some upcoming news! You’ll have to be patient for a little bit longer to find out what that TOP SECRET scrapbook means, but in the meantime we’re celebrating all things ZeeOps. So, we HAD to pick the Berlin- Capital of Spies as the first garden!

The second garden was chosen for its cool design and incorporation of virtual types that were featured in the past Double Points weekend. Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Berlin – Capital of spies Garden, designed by 123xilef, and the Somerville Specials Garden, designed by prmarks1391, as our winning September GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Berlin – Capital of spies by 123xilef in Berlin, Germany

This garden was absolutely perfect for this year’s bash theme!

This garden was first nominated last September, and we’re happy to have the perfect opportunity to recognize it! Of the Munzee-themed gardens, Myths and Flats are usually what players gravitate towards, so this ZeeOps garden definitely stood out!

Somerville Specials garden by prmarks1391 in Victoria, Australia

The shape of this garden is very original and eye-catching!

The contrast between the single-type gem-shaped sections and the multi-evo-type cross-shaped middle creates visual interest! This is a great example of using a variety of types without it looking too cluttered.

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Send your nomination for GOTM to iloveyou@munzee.com! Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

September POTM

September’s POTM called for capping 100 scatters! Since there’s still a bit of time left to earn this badge, here are a few reminders:

  • Scatters are the munzees that are generated after capturing a scattering munzee. For example, when you cap an Air Mystery, that triggers Feathers or Golden Feathers to appear on the map for you to capture. Feathers and Golden Feathers are scatters.
  • If you need help finding scattering munzees near you, remember that we have quite a few different types that scatter — here’s a list, with links to the corresponding Help Guide articles:

Congratulations to all who were able to meet the requirements! You can expect to see the badge in early October. If you weren’t able to meet the requirements this time, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for showing some love to scatters this month! We enjoy the variety and different functions each have in the game, and hope you do too!

October POTM Requirements

Ever have a close call capping? Get spooked by a curious stranger when deploying? We want to hear your Munzee scary stories! For October Player Of The Month we want you to send in stories about some spooky situations when playing Munzee. We always want people to be safe when playing, so hopefully we can learn some lessons from your scary stories! Please send your stories to the Google Form at this link: https://forms.gle/zLqoudpAqsgzCfyS8

As in the previous months, this unique POTM badge is eligible for any player to earn regardless of previous wins. The badge will appear as follows:

We hope you’re excited for what October has in store!

Munzee on!

October QRewzdays Schedule

If you checked out yesterday’s Clan Wars post, you got a sneak peek of the QRewzdays schedule for October. As we’ve recently made more physical munzees eligible for QRewZEE status, we wanted to encourage more regular map maintenance.

For the foreseeable future, we’ve decided that QRewZEEs will continue to be a part of Clan Requirements for Levels 3, 4, and 5, and part of Individual Requirements for levels 4 and 5. This also means QRewzdays will continue with the same schedule as written below. So, if all goes well, this may be the last blog post dedicated specifically to QRewzdays! As always, this update we do may be subject to change in the future, with advanced notice. Remember to follow your local guidelines and Stay Home if required.

It’s time to mark your calendars for October QRewzdays to earn some QRewzee points! We’ve got a nice sprinkling of them throughout the month, so there’s likely a day that works for you! This time, it’s just all the multiples of 3 so it’s easy to remember!

The October QRewzdays are as follows:

  • The following dates beginning at 00:01 MHQ time until 23:59 MHQ time on the same day: October 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30

Remember that QRew and ZeeQRew status can be earned or revoked at 00:01 MHQ time on the 1st and 15th, so plan accordingly if you want to achieve or retain either title!

Munzee on!

P.S. Are you looking for the Flat Friends schedule? Remember that in July, we announced that the Forever Flat schedule is now in effect! So there’s no schedule to memorize, Flat Friends will always be on the map!
