July 2022 Skin: Birthday Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into July with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your June capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Aloha Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early July. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

June Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $7.

Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

Don’t forget that you’ll need to own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year to have a permanent one next year — so make sure to stock up soon if you’re a fan of these brightly-colored lawn decorations!

We also released special Reseller Garden Flamingos in February — if you’re interested, you can check out our blog post on them HERE!

Garden Flamingos are Ready to Mingle!

Last year’s Garden Gnomes were perfect for adding a charming, fairytale-inspired touch to your home. But perhaps your tastes lean more towards the eclectic and tropical? If so, we think you’ll be excited for this year’s Monthly tPOB!

Garden Flamingo Details

The Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on December 31. It is currently available in the Freeze Tag Store for $12, and each month its price will decrease by $1. You can purchase 1 Garden Flamingo every 28 days. If you own at least 8 temporary Garden Flamingos at the end of the year, you’ll be able to keep a permanent one going into 2023! Plus you can continue using all the skins you’ve collected each month!

This year, we’re doing something different — instead of including the first skin with all January purchases of the base Garden Flamingo, you will have to keep your streak up in January to receive it in February. The pattern continues for the remaining months — if you keep up your capture streak for an entire month, you will receive the skin for it the next month. You can change the skin on the flamingo at any point (more info below!) as long as you have earned it.

Points

  • Garden Flamingo
    • Deploy: 500
    • Capture: 250
    • CapOn: 150
  • New Year Garden Flamingo
    • Capture: 250
    • CapOn: 300

You can find these kitschy cuties wading to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, when a Garden Flamingo has an upgraded skin, up to 3 NEW Flamingo Feathers may be scattered nearby when it is captured! For instance, when a Garden Flamingo has a New Year skin it will scatter Festive Feathers nearby.

The Flamingo Feathers will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These feather scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Flamingo Feathers are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

Garden Flamingos of ANY type will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Garden Flamingos on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Garden Flamingo visits you. Garden Flamingos are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Garden Flamingos by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

How to Change Skins

The process is the same as it has been for the past year, so we won’t take up your time with the instructions!

However, if you are a little rusty — or if perhaps, you’re a new player(!) — you can refer to our Help Guide article HERE!

Badges

Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

You can see the first of each badge line below:

If you complete the capture streaks for each month (and make the initial purchase in January) you’ll have 12 different skins to choose from! So be sure to purchase one each month so you can have a complete flock of these fancy Garden Flamingos!

We hope these flamingos are the perfect finishing touch to your outdoor decor!

We’re Flamingo-ing Crazy in 2022!

Can you believe there’s only a few weeks left in the year? While many of us are still living the sequel of 2020, surviving that tough year has allowed us to identify what worked and what didn’t work, and make changes for a better 2021. We also allowed for a bit of experimentation — namely, the Garden Gnomes!

At around this time last year, we announced our plans for Garden Gnomes, so that those interested would be prepared once we were back in the office and making them available. Looking back on the year, we believe Garden Gnomes were a success and beloved by the community, so we’ve decided to continue releasing a similar style of game piece in 2022!

We’re not releasing all of the details just yet, but we did want to give everyone a heads up to start your capture streaks on January 1st!

Garden Flamingos

Garden Flamingos will go on sale January 1st at 00:01 MHQ! As usual you’ll want to capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month to earn a reward. If you can make it through the whole month you’ll be awarded a badge and special Flamingo skin themed to that month’s activity! We’ll release more information on Flamingos and any differences from Garden Gnomes once we’re back in the office, but for now, here’s a sneak peek into what we have planned!

Please give a warm welcome to January’s New Year Garden Flamingo!

This year, instead of a sports theme, we wanted to really lean into holidays and celebrations that typically occur each month. The past two years, there have been birthdays, graduations, weddings, and much more to celebrate, but many were scaled down from their original plans. We wanted to make 2022 a more lively year and also continue our lawn décor line, so flamingos were a no-brainer!

We’re all in this together, and if nothing else, it will help you get one step closer to the year-long capture and deploy streak badges. We’ll have a different flamingo badge design each month, but try and keep up with your streak throughout the year! We believe in you!

We hope you’re excited to meet each month’s flamingo and perhaps take home one of your own! Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees plan ahead!

December Garden Gnome Reminder + Final Gnomes Preview!

We’re posting this earlier than usual so Gnome Collectors have all the info they need before the holiday rush! As the year comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into January with your desired Garden Gnomes! The skin for completing your December capture streak (and the corresponding badge) will be awarded in early January, but we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store!

December Garden Gnome Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Garden Gnome yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $1.

Players can only purchase 1 Garden Gnome every 28 days.

Don’t forget that you’ll need to own at least 8 Garden Gnomes by the end of the year to have a permanent one next year — so make sure to stock up soon if you’re a fan of these sporty lawn decorations!

We also released special Reseller Garden Gnomes in March — if you’re interested, you can check out our blog post on them HERE!

Final Garden Gnomes Details

What Gnome Skins can you look forward to receiving in January 2022? If you met the requirement to receive a permanent Garden Gnome, you’ll see the new Stone Garden Gnome in your account, which behaves the same way as the original Garden Gnome we released in January 2021. Don’t worry if you like the look of the original Garden Gnome — it will be available as a skin for this Stone Garden Gnome!

Then, as we announced last month, to earn the New Years Eve skin, you’ll need to have completed this month’s (December’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in January, you can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our original blog post for the instructions!
