V-Mailbox Schedules

One especially good thing we learned from Sir Prize Santa is that knowing when the Double Point Weekends and Special Themed Scatter Events are is most helpful in deciding whether or not the mailbox is right for you. So, without further ado, here are the schedules for the V-Mailbox!

Double Point Weekends (DPWs)

Week Tier Dates Double Points ON
1 #2 & #3 Thursday, Feb 17 at 00:01 MHQ to Friday, Feb 18 at 23:59 MHQ Jewels
1 #3 Saturday, Feb 19 at 00:01 MHQ to Sunday, Feb 20 at 23:59 MHQ Zodiacs + Zodiac scatters

2 ALL Saturday, Feb 26 at 00:01 MHQ to Sunday, Feb 27 at 23:59 MHQ Greeting Cards

Special Themed Scatter Events

When you cap the V-Mailbox, up to 10 themed scatters will be deployed nearby. They expire 36 hours after they are deployed, to hopefully give you enough time to capture them all! While we’ll reveal the Tiers and Dates to help you plan, we’ll just reveal what will be scattering for the first week:

Week Tier Dates Special Themed Scatter

February 2022 Skin: Valentines Flamingo

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into February with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your January capture streak (and the corresponding badge) which is the New Year skin we revealed at the start of the month, will be awarded in early February, but we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

January Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $12.

Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

Don’t forget that you’ll need to own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year to have a permanent one next year — so make sure to stock up soon if you’re a fan of these brightly-colored lawn decorations!

February Flamingo Details

What Flamingo Skin can you look forward to earning in February? The lovey-dovey Valentines Garden Flamingo! Like the other flamingos, the Valentines Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Flamingos continue to use it.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to complete next month’s (February’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in March, you can change the skin on the flamingo to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

Points

  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 300

You can find these infatuated fowls floating to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Valentines Garden Flamingo will scatter up to 3 NEW Lovely Feathers nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Flamingo Feathers, the Lovely Feathers will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These flamingo feather scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Flamingo Feathers are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

The Valentines Garden Flamingo will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Valentines Garden Flamingos on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Valentines Garden Flamingo visits you. Valentines Garden Flamingos are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Valentines Garden Flamingos by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Valentines Garden Flamingo:

We hope you are head-over-heels for February’s Flamingo Skin!

New Zodiac Badges + Sale for Chinese New Year!

As we were brainstorming ways to celebrate Chinese New Year, we realized that Chinese Zodiacs were missing a crucial component that adds to the appeal of ALL munzee types — a badge line! It’s been almost 4 years since this type was introduced, so the badges are long overdue! To prevent the same thing from happening with Egyptian Zodiacs, we’ve gone ahead and created a line for it as well. But before we get into the badge line details, we’d like to direct your attention to the related sale we’ve got going on right now!

Sale Details

Western and Chinese Zodiacs are 22% off, while Egyptian Zodiacs can be bought individually for $3! You can shop the sale HERE.

To make the most of it, please note the points listed below:

  • The sale will take place from Thursday, January 27th at 12:00 MHQ to Tuesday, February 1st at 23:59 MHQ
  • Discount code will be applied automatically
    • Only 1 discount code can be used at a time, so if there’s another discount you’d like to use, you’ll have the option to change which code is applied

Badges

As stated above, there are 2 separate badge lines — one for Chinese Zodiacs and one for Egyptian Zodiacs. They are based on overall points earned with their respective Zodiac munzees, and there are 4 badges to earn in each line. The badge art depicts constellations in the night sky, similar to the original Western Zodiac badge line!

The badges are live as of 12:00 MHQ today. We won’t spoil all of them, but you can check out the first badge in each line below:

As these badge lines are retroactive, you may have already met the requirements for some of them, and should see them on your account soon! If not, please wait a few days as our system catches up with awarding these new badges to everyone who has earned them, before contacting support.

If you want to learn more about Zodiacs, check out our Help Guide article!

2021 Yearly Leaderboard Badges!

At first glance, Munzee seems like a pretty simple game. Scan physical munzees to get points. Tap on virtual munzees to get even more points. There are different types of physical munzees and different types of virtual munzees that award you with varying numbers of points. Simple, right?

What’s not so simple is how to stay on top of all the numerous active players! While more established players do have an advantage in terms of deployed munzees (rake in those CapOn points!), they face difficulties in finding munzees to cap, especially if they are active in Clan Wars! Taking advantage of special ZEE-Dayz, attending Munzee Events, and other strategies are necessary to maintain or improve their ranking.

We started this badge line in 2019 to recognize the hard work (and play!) from those on top. After living through another difficult year due to the pandemic, we are always looking for reasons to celebrate. Continuing the tradition, we would like to recognize the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place on the overall yearly leaderboard for 2021! These accomplished players are, as follows:

  1. dt07751
  2. humbird7
  3. hunniees

Congratulations to dt07751 for taking home the top spot this time! As the reigning King of Munzee, he’s consistently been somewhere at the top of the leaderboard over the years. But while he makes it look easy — to the point where it feels like a given that he’s at the top — nothing could be further from the truth. It takes constant munzee-ing to beat out humbird7, hunniees, and the rest of the players at the top!

We hope this year will remain Munzee-filled for these three, and that everyone else reaches for the stars — after all, this could be you next year!

Secret ZeeOps- Operation: ICEolation (January 2022)

All caught up with Secret ZeeOps and looking for more? Here’s a new one available in the ZeeOps Hub for the usual cost of 1,500 Zeds. For now, it will be available for purchase until 23:59 MHQ on February 28. If you’ve purchased a Secret ZeeOp, you will be able to complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

Are you ready to brave the cold to investigate an arctic outpost? If you complete ALL the missions in Operation: ICEolation, you’ll receive the snazzy badge below, along with the new Abominable SN0W Machine Mech (more info below!) and various other rewards listed in the app!

There are 3 levels. Level 1 has 3 missions, Level 2 has 5 missions, and Level 3 has 5 missions. Each level ends with more prizes.

We may share this information moving forward with other Operations but possibly not.

Abominable SN0W Machine Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the Abominable SN0W Machine is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 15 times.

Points

  • Deploy: 550
  • Capture: 250 – 350
  • CapOn: 100 – 200
  • Frostbitten (15th Cap): 500

You can find these rugged robots stomping to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Abominable SN0W Machines will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Abominable SN0W Machines on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Abominable SN0W Machine visits you. Abominable SN0W Machines are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Abominable SN0W Machines by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When a Abominable SN0W Machine is captured, it will scatter up to 3 SN0W Bombs.

The SN0W Bombs are similar to SC4RABs (as you’ll see below):

  • Capture:
    • Explode Result: lose 10 points
    • Freeze Result: 25 points
    • Disarm Result: 75 points
  • CapOn: 25 – 50 points

They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet.

Badges

As with other Munzee Mechz, the badge for deploying the Abominable SN0W Machine depicts the Blueprints, and is shown below.

There is also a badge for capturing an Abominable SN0W Machine. You can see what that badge looks like below:

On behalf of MHQ, we thank you for your continued service.

A Mini ZEE-Dayz for QRew and ZeeQRew Members!

Last month we hinted at a future occasion in which you’d need to have QRew or ZeeQRew status to participate. In honor of World Hypnotism Day, we’ve put together this short ZEE-Dayz event which should hopefully help you meet your Clan Wars goals for the month and also give the map a much-needed winter cleaning — read on to get the deets!

Double Points Details

From the period of Monday, January 3rd at 00:01 MHQ through Tuesday, January 4th at 23:59 MHQ, enjoy double points on ALL QRewzees and SleepZees!

For more information on them, you can check out our Help Guide article.

Badge

There is also a badge which has a unique two-part requirement:

  1. The total number of QRewzee and SleepZee captures during this period must be at least 1,000 combined (this is cumulative across the entire community)
  2. You must cap at least 1 QRewzee or SleepZee

Dreamweaver- As a Munzee community, work together to capture at least 1,000 QRewzees and SleepZees combined. Make sure to capture at least 1 yourself!

As this event is going on during the start of Clan Wars, we think you’ll make quick work of this goal!

New ZeeQRew Store Pack

We’ve also added a new pack to the QRewzee Collection in the Freeze Tag Store at a discount!

Shop Here: https://store.freezetag.com/collections/zeeqrew

We hope this increases the fun factor of map maintenance!

Garden Flamingos are Ready to Mingle!

Last year’s Garden Gnomes were perfect for adding a charming, fairytale-inspired touch to your home. But perhaps your tastes lean more towards the eclectic and tropical? If so, we think you’ll be excited for this year’s Monthly tPOB!

Garden Flamingo Details

The Garden Flamingo is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on December 31. It is currently available in the Freeze Tag Store for $12, and each month its price will decrease by $1. You can purchase 1 Garden Flamingo every 28 days. If you own at least 8 temporary Garden Flamingos at the end of the year, you’ll be able to keep a permanent one going into 2023! Plus you can continue using all the skins you’ve collected each month!

This year, we’re doing something different — instead of including the first skin with all January purchases of the base Garden Flamingo, you will have to keep your streak up in January to receive it in February. The pattern continues for the remaining months — if you keep up your capture streak for an entire month, you will receive the skin for it the next month. You can change the skin on the flamingo at any point (more info below!) as long as you have earned it.

Points

  • Garden Flamingo
    • Deploy: 500
    • Capture: 250
    • CapOn: 150
  • New Year Garden Flamingo
    • Capture: 250
    • CapOn: 300

You can find these kitschy cuties wading to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, when a Garden Flamingo has an upgraded skin, up to 3 NEW Flamingo Feathers may be scattered nearby when it is captured! For instance, when a Garden Flamingo has a New Year skin it will scatter Festive Feathers nearby.

The Flamingo Feathers will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flamingo owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These feather scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Flamingo Feathers are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

Garden Flamingos of ANY type will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Garden Flamingos on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Garden Flamingo visits you. Garden Flamingos are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Garden Flamingos by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

How to Change Skins

The process is the same as it has been for the past year, so we won’t take up your time with the instructions!

However, if you are a little rusty — or if perhaps, you’re a new player(!) — you can refer to our Help Guide article HERE!

Badges

Garden Flamingos have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more flamingos you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned flamingo!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many flamingos as you can find!

You can see the first of each badge line below:

If you complete the capture streaks for each month (and make the initial purchase in January) you’ll have 12 different skins to choose from! So be sure to purchase one each month so you can have a complete flock of these fancy Garden Flamingos!

We hope these flamingos are the perfect finishing touch to your outdoor decor!

We’re Flamingo-ing Crazy in 2022!

Can you believe there’s only a few weeks left in the year? While many of us are still living the sequel of 2020, surviving that tough year has allowed us to identify what worked and what didn’t work, and make changes for a better 2021. We also allowed for a bit of experimentation — namely, the Garden Gnomes!

At around this time last year, we announced our plans for Garden Gnomes, so that those interested would be prepared once we were back in the office and making them available. Looking back on the year, we believe Garden Gnomes were a success and beloved by the community, so we’ve decided to continue releasing a similar style of game piece in 2022!

We’re not releasing all of the details just yet, but we did want to give everyone a heads up to start your capture streaks on January 1st!

Garden Flamingos

Garden Flamingos will go on sale January 1st at 00:01 MHQ! As usual you’ll want to capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month to earn a reward. If you can make it through the whole month you’ll be awarded a badge and special Flamingo skin themed to that month’s activity! We’ll release more information on Flamingos and any differences from Garden Gnomes once we’re back in the office, but for now, here’s a sneak peek into what we have planned!

Please give a warm welcome to January’s New Year Garden Flamingo!

This year, instead of a sports theme, we wanted to really lean into holidays and celebrations that typically occur each month. The past two years, there have been birthdays, graduations, weddings, and much more to celebrate, but many were scaled down from their original plans. We wanted to make 2022 a more lively year and also continue our lawn décor line, so flamingos were a no-brainer!

We’re all in this together, and if nothing else, it will help you get one step closer to the year-long capture and deploy streak badges. We’ll have a different flamingo badge design each month, but try and keep up with your streak throughout the year! We believe in you!

We hope you’re excited to meet each month’s flamingo and perhaps take home one of your own! Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees plan ahead!

A NEW Christmas Skin in the Redeem Store!

Have you checked out the Redeem Store lately? We’ve just swapped out the [Christmas (Week 2)] tab for [Christmas (Week 3)], so you may find something new that you’re interested in!

We’ve also added a NEW skin to the [Christmas Surprises] tab, also for 25 CC — the LOC04LMOTIVE was getting lonely! Similar to the GWRENCH, this one is for those on the dark side!

Ghost of Christmas Future Details

Like the past Halloween Skins, the Ghost of Christmas Future is a skin you can apply to an upgraded Banshee. You can switch between these skins and the base skins for the myths as many times as you like. She will be spotted bouncing around to Greenies, Onyxes, Ice and Void Mysteries, Cemetery Places, Black and Blue Colored Virtuals*, Treehouses, and Skylands every 12 hours or when capped.

Points

  • Capture: 200
  • CapOn: 100

Ghosts of Christmas Future will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Ghosts of Christmas Future on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Ghost of Christmas Future visits you. Ghosts of Christmas Future are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Ghosts of Christmas Future by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

If you haven’t picked up a Banshee yet, keep an eye on this blog and also the Freeze Tag Store — you never know when they might be on sale! Don’t forget to pick up a Bouncer Upgrade Credit as well. When you’re ready to dress up your myth, just use the [Convert] option either in the app or on the website to apply it!

Badges

Like the Merry Mermaid and the Snow Queen Nymph, all captures will count toward the Myth Variant Capture badge line.

We hope you enjoy the creepy contrast of this new skin and are excited for what comes next!

Munzee on!

*Black and Blue Colored Virtuals include:

  • Virtual Timberwolf Munzees
  • Virtual Silver Munzees
  • Virtual Gray Munzees
  • Virtual Black Munzees
  • Virtual Blue Violet
  • Virtual Blue
  • Virtual Cadet Blue
  • Virtual Periwinkle
  • Virtual Cornflower
  • Virtual Blue Green
  • Virtual Pacific Blue
  • Virtual Cerulean
  • Virtual Robin Egg Blue
  • Virtual Indigo
  • Virtual Turquoise Blue

December 13, 2021

You’re a Mean One, Mr. GWRENCH!

Since Munzee is all about playing your way, we like to give you options. Maybe Sir Prize Santa isn’t your thing, so you don’t have a TR33 TOPP3R. Maybe it’ll take a while for you to earn enough CO4L for a LOC04LMOTIVE. But what if you want a new Christmas Combat Mech running around? After all, they are worth DOUBLE POINTS the entire month, AND they also can potentially award CO4L. If this sounds like you, read on to find out more about our latest Mech! But first… a quick update we wanted to share!

Mech Update!

If you are the one to take down a Mech — in other words, you are the last one to cap it before it is archived — you will receive 1 Cog! This will start just shortly after the release of this blog, at around 12:15 MHQ. It is live now — 10 minutes earlier than we thought!

This update applies to ALL Mechz, not just Christmas Combat Mechz, and is a permanent change. We wanted to make it a little more rewarding to hunt them down, and also a little easier to build more of your own! Maybe even the Mech we’ll introduce you to now?

GWRENCH Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, the GWRENCH is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 5 times. In addition, as a Christmas Combat Mech, upon capture you have the chance to earn 1 – 3 CO4L Credits. If you’d like to add it to your collection, you can pick it up in the Freeze Tag Store HERE. You will receive a fully-built GWRENCH that will auto-deploy upon purchase, plus the Greenprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future.

Points

  • Deploy: 500
  • Capture: 350
  • CapOn: 150
  • Combust (5th Cap): 425

You can find these KrampBot cousins creeping to the following landing pads every 4 hours or when captured:

GWRENCHes will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture GWRENCHes on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same GWRENCH visits you. GWRENCHes are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access GWRENCHes by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When a GWRENCH is captured, it will scatter up to 3 WR3NCHs.

These will scatter like feathers so there are no CapOn points but they are worth 100 points for capture — if you’re lucky! If not, you may lose 10 points instead. They expire after 240 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well.

Badges

Deploying a GWRENCH will earn you the corresponding Greenprint badge, which you can see below.

In addition, captures of the GWRENCH and the WR3NCH will also go toward the same line of capture badges that you can earn for LOC04LMOTIVE, TR33 TOPP3R, and N1NJ4 ST4R captures! It’s possible that this line may include other types we release in the future.

Ready to make a little mischief this Christmas?

Munzee on!
