After expanding the Places capture badge line last week we’re excited to announce new streak badges for capturing Places Munzees! One of the great things about Places Munzees is that you can capture them every day and visit your favorite Places over and over again. Because of this we want our players to see how long they can keep the streak going.
To earn these badges you will just have to consecutively capture a Places Munzee for a week, a month and a year.
CAUTION: MUNZEERS AT WORK – Capture any Places Munzee for 7 days in a row.
Now even though you can cap the same Places Munzee everyday you can also earn the badge by capturing any Places Munzee worldwide. That way you can still travel and capture lots of fun Places all while keeping your streak going.
You can currently buy Places Munzees in the Munzee online store, so help out your fellow travelers and deploy a few Places! You can buy one of each Places Munzee a month.
These badges go live Thursday August 31st at 15:00 MHQ and they will be retroactive in case you’ve already started capping them daily. We’re excited to see all the Places you’ll go! Good luck and Munzee on!
As you may know, Southeast Texas was hit by a major hurricane late last week. Hurricane Harvey was a Category 4 hurricane when it made landfall north of Corpus Christi, Texas and has since moved north causing catastrophic damage in the Houston area. It has also caused flooding in Austin and San Antonio and is expected to affect Louisiana as well.
Many members of Team Munzee have family and friends, including members of the Munzee community, who live in affected areas. This is a very worrisome time, and the impact of this disaster may have a global impact. We want to show that Munzee and our community are here to support those in need.
Starting at 12:00 MHQ time TODAY, Water Mystery Munzees and 20-packs of assorted mini generic munzees* will be on sale with 100% of the proceeds being donated to relief for victims of Hurricane Harvey via American Red Cross. Water Mystery Munzees (pack of 10) will be available for $15 and the 20-packs of assorted mini generic munzees will be available for $3.50. These will be available until Thursday, August 31st at 23:59 MHQ time.
All of those people that have been affected are in our thoughts, and we want to help as much as possible.

As August comes to an end, many schools around the world start a new school year. MHQ wants to celebrate that by introducing our next type of Places Munzee: Universities!
University Places Munzees, like the previous Places Munzees we released last month, are deployed on player accounts and have the same point and proximity structure. You can see all of the Places Munzees on the Places Map, and if you need a refresher on how to deploy Places Munzees, you can check out our previous blog post.

Criteria
Like the other Places Munzees, there are certain criteria that we look for when approving University Places Munzees:
Most Importantly: University Places Munzees must be deployed at a University/College. Please no college annex buildings at grade schools (common in parts of the US).
Only 1 University Places Munzee will be allowed per campus. When deploying, please try and position the munzee at the main entrance on the university/college campus.
The university/college must be accessible to all, not a private/closed campus.
No research institutions unless they are part of a university/college system.

University Places Munzees will be available at 15:00 MHQ time TOMORROW (August 22nd, 15:00 CST) for $10 USD. All current Places Munzees will be removed from the store until then as well in order to add this new type. You will be able to find all Places Munzees for sale here August 22nd, 15:00 CST.

The blog post was incorrect in its statement of proximity. Places Munzees cannot be deployed within a mile of the same type but can be deployed within a mile of another type.

We’ve had a great response to Places Munzees, but to help both our players and our approvers we’ve put together some more defined guidelines for deploying. Go HERE to learn more!
With Places munzees now open to all players, we wanted to go into detail about how the deployment process will work. Currently players can deploy Airports, Sports Stadiums, Wildlife and the new Museum Places munzees all across the world.
Players can deploy their Places munzee from the online Munzee map. Remember that only one Places munzee may be deployed at each location, so you may have to get creative with where you deploy these. Once you deploy the munzee it will then be sent to an MHQ staff member for approval. Places deploys will be approved within 24-48 hours, but these are manually approved, so please be patient. Once your deploy is approved or denied you’ll receive an email notification.

A few notes:
Places munzees must be at least 1 mile apart from another munzee of the same type..
You cannot cap your own Places munzee.
You will deploy Places munzees from your account, so you will get the points when people cap it. These may be capped by players once per MHQ 24 hour time period so there is potential for a lot of cap-on points.
Places munzees are not blastable.
Each* has a 1,000 ft capture radius. (*This does not include airports which have a 1 mile capture radius.)
Can be captured once per 24 hour MHQ day by players.
There are a limited amount of each type of Places munzees for sale.
Places munzees will cost $10 each and players are limited to one of each type.
If your Places munzee deploy is declined, you will receive a brief explanation as to why in the followup email.
Even if your location was available at the time of deployment it may be taken by another player who selected that location before you.
If your Places Munzee deploy is denied, you’ll still be able to resubmit, but please consider the notes the approver listed for the denial.

Places Munzees are positioned at locations that may be of interest all around the world, depending on the type of Munzee. Previously we have released them through MHQ accounts, based on player suggestions, but we want you all to get in on the fun! Remember that Places Munzees can be scanned again daily, so there’s a possibility to earn a lot of cap-on points!

We’re proud to announce the release of a limited number of 6th Birthday Comic Book Special coinz! These golden brass coins look awesome and are a great keepsake from a SUPER month. Those in attendance of our MHQ Birthday Bash will be the first to to have the chance to buy them, so be sure to RSVP.

Remember you can use coinz to track specific munzee captures which is perfect when hunting recycles or completing ZeeOps missions. The Recycle coin features the Munzee Recycle icon and the ZeeOps coin features the ZeeOps logo inlaid upon a super unique white metal. Both are great additions to any coin collection!
