MHQ 6th Birthday Bash Recap!

We had a SUPER good time during MHQ’s Birthday Bash! Players from all over joined us for a fun afternoon at the MHQ offices last Friday. They walked away with Birthday Comic skinned stickers, were the first to get their hands on some awesome Munzee Worldwide apparel, and earned more than a couple badges! Everyone showed off their heroic profiles in the Eventzee photo backdrop with a wide array of superhero costumes.

Thank you again to everyone who came and we’re excited to see all of you and more at MHQ Bash in the Fall!

Even if you couldn’t make it out to MHQ’s Birthday Bash, there are still a bunch of 6th Birthday events going on all around the world. Join Rob and Matt in Munzee, IN this weekend for even more fun.

Join us in Munzee, IN!

Munzee’s 6th Birthday celebration in Muncie, IN is still a couple of weeks away, but we wanted to update you all on some of the happenings as well as showcase some of the awesome badges you can earn over the weekend. Remember that Muncie is officially becoming Munzee, IN so prepare to show the city how we have fun! Our lasagna loving feline friend Garfield will be making appearances too, so you won’t want to miss out.

Part I

To kick off the weekend we want you to join Munzee-Man at the Hall Of Justice… err… Canan Commons! Matt and Rob will be front and center to hang out at the recreation area. Canan Commons includes a stage for performances, open space for gathering and informal recreation, as well as plenty of dining options. What better way to prepare for a weekend of heroic fun? Leaping Lake Lads! Join Matt and Rob at McColloch Park at 10am for a trail, badge and the launch of the Garfield Virtuals! These virtual icons are ONLY available in Muncie and Grant County so get them while you can! You can also join the Eventzee Garfield Statue Scavenger Hunt to take photos with our favorite fat cat.

Join us for a Spectacular 6th Birthday Bash!

MHQ is hosting a Spectacular 6th Birthday Bash in July and we want you to join us! We’ll have snacks and of course some celebratory cupcakes, as well as SUPER new badge.

The event will run from 2-5 PM, on July 14th at MHQ and members of Team Munzee will be hanging out. We’ll also have some fun party favors for those in attendance, so don’t miss out!

We’ll have a lot more birthday announcements to make over the next few weeks, but we wanted to make sure everyone had enough time to plan ahead. Be sure to RSVP to the event on the Munzee Calendar so we can get an idea of how many people we’re expecting.

Join Rob and Garfield in Munzee, IN!

Munzee is turning 6 this year! To celebrate we are taking over Muncie, Indiana and turning it into Munzee, Indiana! Join Rob the weekend of July 21st for a number of fun events including a trip to the Delaware County Fair! Rob will also be visited by a certain fat cat who is pretty popular around those parts.

We’re pleased to announce that special Garfield icons will be exclusively available in Muncie, Fairmount (the hometown of Garfield creator and cartoonist Jim Davis) and other areas of Grant County.

Some of these munzees will mark the locations of Garfield statues in the area. Located in Marion, Indiana and surrounding Grant County cities, the fiberglass statues each measure approximately five feet in height and depict Jim Davis’s Garfield in hilarious costumes or situations. A Munzee (and possibly Eventzee) trail will be placed to coincide with this and launched during the birthday weekend!

Keep a lookout for more details about the weekend of events on the Calendar in the near future, but start planning your trip to the Midwest now!

We’ll also have more information regarding all of the 6th Birthday worldwide festivities soon, but you can be sure that it will be a BAM! of a time, even if it is a bit DRAWN out!

Munzee’s Birthday and MHQ Bash 3

Yesterday we posted about Easter and Spring events. We’ve got some pretty big events this year, too, though. Here’s some information regarding Munzee’s 5th Birthday and MHQ Bash 3.

Munzee’s 5th Birthday

It’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years. We couldn’t have gotten to this point without our amazing players, and we can’t thank you enough. We want to spread the celebration, though, so we’re taking our birthday party on the road! This year, we’ll be celebrating Munzee’s 5th birthday in Denver, Colorado! We’re still finalizing details, but members of Team Munzee will be in Denver from June 30th through July 4th. We’ll be posting more information as the time draws closer, but we’ve got events on the calendar so you can let us know you’ll be there!

MHQ Bash 3

MHQ Bash kicked off an annual tradition of getting involved with our community and players on a face-to-face, personal level. We grew upon that to make MHQ Bash 2 bigger and better. We’re continuing that with MHQ Bash 3 this year! We invite everyone to come hang out with us for a weekend of Munzee fun on October 7th, 8th, and 9th here in McKinney, Texas. Events are already on the calendar, and we’ll be posting full information regarding locations and packages soon.

We’re extremely excited to meet new people and see old friends at these events! We hope to see you there! Munzee on!

4th Birthday Month Specials

The time to celebrate Munzee’s birthday has come again! As we mark our 4th birthday, we want to reward our players for all of their support in helping this game grow and become so much more than we thought it could be when we started. If you thought #FiestaThree was big, we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve got planned. Also, keep in mind that we like to celebrate on relevant numbered days, so watch out for days with 4 in them. Now on to the details.

What’s a birthday party without cake? Starting tomorrow, there will be 444 birthday cakes on the map at any time. They can be seen at www.munzee.com/birthday during the month. These cakes will only land on greenies not in maintenance mode (if a Munzee goes into maintenance mode while a cake is on it, it will bounce to another Munzee), and bounce every 12 hours.

Each cake starts with 4 candles. After each cap, it will lose a candle. After the 4th cap, the cake is gone and another will show up somewhere else. Capture points will be 100, 50, 25, and 20 for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cap, respectively. Cap on points will be 4 points each, i.e. 16 total if all are capped. Regardless of capture number, the special icon will be the full cake.

After the first capture of a cake, 4 “pieces of cake” will explode within 44444 feet. Each will provide a special capture and icon. Capture points are 44 and cap on points are 4.

We couldn’t just stop there. July 4th will be a 4x day on greenies and regular/colored virtuals ONLY (not MVM or anything other than regular greenies). This 4x day will include capture, deploy, and cap on points. This will be in effect from 00:01-23:59 MHQ on July 4th.

REMINDER: Munzee Worldwide Birthday Events

With Munzee’s 4th Birthday just a few weeks away we have so much exciting news on the horizon. Our monthlong celebration of all things Munzee kicks off the first weekend of July with worldwide Birthday parties hosted by you, our players. From July 1-5 we have asked that our international community join us in celebration of four years of Munzeeing by hosting their own Munzee events.

Over the past month we’ve had lots of interest in hosting these worldwide events, due in large part to the promise of a special Birthday event badge. We would like to remind everyone that in order to get this special badge at your event there must be at least ten people who participate in the event and it must be scheduled on the official Munzee calendar. Just visit http://calendar.munzee.com/ to submit your event and be sure to follow along on social media for more Birthday announcements.

These events are also an opportunity for our various clans, groups, and communities to create custom badges and icons for the players in attendance. As stated earlier we have had a lot of events scheduled, many of which have had custom badges and icons created for their events. If you’re interested in hosting an event with custom icons/badges there is a 28 day advance notice required. So if you want special icons/badges for your Munzee Birthday Event you must have that submitted to the Munzee Event Team by June 3rd at 5pm MHQ time or there will be a surcharge.

Events are a perfect way to grow the game in your area, so be sure to spread word through all available avenues.

Munzee’s 4th Birthday Worldwide Parties

Join us this July in celebrating the fourth anniversary of Munzee’s creation! A lot has happened in four years and, as those that remember last year’s celebrations know, we like to celebrate. Over the next few months we’ll be releasing Birthday info, but we wanted to give our players some notice about our worldwide Munzee Birthday celebration event. Much like last year we want our players to host their own Munzee birthday parties across the world. We may not be able to join you all in person, but we want to join you in spirit. So from July 1-5 we ask that our worldwide community join us in celebration of four years of Munzeeing!

This year we want to organize it a bit better, so we’re asking that players create their events in the Munzee Calendar from July 1st-5th, 2015. This will help let your local communities know that they can join and also help us see where everyone is celebrating. As an added bonus if you can get ten people to join you at your event we’ll award you with a special Munzee Birthday Host badge! Details are subject to change over the next couple months, but we wanted to give you guys enough notice so you have time to plan these awesome events! Top 4 of ’14: Special Icons

As the year comes to a close we can’t help but look back on how big 2014 was! Over the next few days we’ll be looking back on some of our favorite moments of the year. To start things off, here are some of the icons that made this year so special. As many of you may have noticed a few of these have been re-released to the map for the rest of the year as well!

ALS Ice Cubes

SEPTEMBER

MHQ’s base in McKinney, Texas may usually be warm in September, but the Munzee community helped freeze us over in our fight to end ALS. This September we sold special virtual icons featuring ice cubes in connection to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and gave all proceeds to ALS research. The campaign was an overwhelming success and in two weeks we raised a donation of $54,000 for Project A.L.S..

Copa Do Munzo Footballs

JUNE

In celebration of the world’s favorite sport, Munzee blasted the world with football icons. From the first whistle in Brazil on June 12 until Germany hoisted the cup on July 13, 704 footballs bounced across the Munzee map. We also held a competition where players could vote on who they thought would win the Cup. As many guessed, Germany won the cup and in hand our players were rewarded too!

Autism Awareness Puzzle Hearts

APRIL

To celebrate and bring awareness to April’s Autism theme, Team Munzee deployed 680 special icons on the map. 680 represents the 1:68 ratio of children born with autism currently. The amazing efforts of our active Munzee community lead to over 8,055 hearts captured in the month of April! Player captures raised a total of $4,027.50 in donations towards the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism.

3rd Birthday Piñatas

JULY

As a part of our #FiestaThree 3rd birthday celebration, we released special piñata munzees around the world. What better way to celebrate Munzee’s third birthday than to hit a paper-mâché donkey until it gives you candy? We released 3,333 piñata specials and just like in real life, munzee piñatas were about getting as many different kinds of candy as quickly as possible. When you capped a piñata you randomly received one of three types of candy and a corresponding special icon. It was a hit! Get it?

Podcast Episode 23: What’s next? We miss Matt, and a final birthday announcement

It’s been a long month of piñatas and prizes, but sadly Munzee’s third birthday is nearing its end. Worry not though, like every great birthday party, we’ve got one last surprise. This week on the podcast we announce a few big things including physical prize days to end the month. “August Deploy Days”

Level 1 Mace — All 10 members of your clan must deploy at least one Munzee of any type for 3 days in the month (not in a row). Rewards: 1 Mace

Level 2 Longsword — All 10 members of your clan must deploy at least one Munzee of any type for 7 days in the month (not in a row). In addition to the deploy requirement each member must capture at least 50 munzees of any type. Rewards: 1 Longsword, 2 Mystery Virtuals, & 2 Virtual Colors

Level 3 Battle Axe — All 10 members of your clan must deploy at least one Munzee of any type for 14 days in the month (not in a row). In addition to the deploy requirement each member must capture at least 350 munzees of any type. Rewards: 1 Battle Axe, 2 Mystery Virtuals, 2 Virtual Colors, & 1 ruby

Level 4 The Chuck — All 10 members of your clan must deploy at least one Munzee of any type for 21 days in the month (not in a row). In addition to the deploy requirement each member must capture at least 550 munzees of any type. Rewards: 1 Mace, 1 Longsword, 1 Battle Axe, 3 Mystery Virtuals, 3 Virtual Colors, 1 ruby & 1 diamond

Level 5 #SuperChuck — All 10 members of your clan must deploy at least one Munzee of any type for 29 days in a row. In addition to the deploy requirement each member must capture at least 1350 munzees of any type. Rewards: 2 Battle Axes, 5 Mystery Virtuals, 5 Virtual Colors, 5 Virtuals, 2 motel, 2 ruby, & 2 diamond

3. A “shocking” Munzee Marketplace update. Don’t worry folks, Dylan and Matt are okay!

4. Final days and prizes for Munzee’s #FiestaThree Birthday.

5. We wonder why #ScottThoughts isn’t trending on Twitter and Instagram like #MunzeeFound is. Keep posting folks, your random #ScottThoughts might just end up on the podcast!

Tomorrow and Thursday we’ll be awarding physical prizes to random captures and deploys made over the two final days of the month. These premium prizes will be tough to get, but it will take your Munzee experience to the next level. We’re really pushing for real world play, so social captures will not have a chance of winning a prize. Remember the more you cap and deploy the better chance you have at winning, so finish this birthday month strong!
