Cyber Munzweek 2015!

This coming week is filled with holidays and sales days, especially in the US. We’ve decided to celebrate all over the world with Cyber Munzweek and introduce new items as well as thank you, our players, for all of your support. Below is a list of each day and what we will be doing. Unless indicated otherwise, sales/specials will begin at 10am MHQ time that day and will last until 9:59am the following morning.

Monday, November 23rd: Giveaways!
We’re starting the week off with freebies! Credit items will be awarded at random for captures* from 00:01-23:59 MHQ time.

Tuesday, November 24th: MORE Giveaways!
One giveaway day isn’t enough, is it? We don’t think so! We will continue to award credit items for random captures* from 00:01-23:59 MHQ time.

Wednesday, November 25th: Premo Sale!
From 00:01-23:59 MHQ time, premium members get 20% off the Munzee online store (excluding premium memberships and gift certificates).

Thursday, November 26th: ThanksGIVE-ing!
Premium members will receive One (1) Flat Rob and One (1) New Surprise Munzee for free!

Friday, November 27th: New Virt!
All new Virtual Trails will be on sale! A five (5) stop trail will be $3 (regularly $5) and a ten (10) stop trail will be $5 (regularly $10)! Also, we have a very limited number of surplus October MunzPaks that will be available for $20 (that WILL NOT include the virtual items).

Saturday, November 28th: SCATTER!
We’re introducing the Scatter Munzee! These will be on sale for $3 (regularly $5).

Sunday, November 29th: Prizes!
You never know what you’ll get with the Prize Wheel Munzee! They will be on sale for $2 (regularly $5).

Monday, November 30th: SURPRISE?!
When we retired the Mystery Virtual Munzee, we promised something would replace it. Well, here it is! The Surprise Munzee will be on sale for $3 (regularly $5). We’re not stopping there, though. We will be releasing 1000 Limited Edition Unicorn Munzees for $20. Limit 1 per person.

*Socials do not count toward captures for prizes.

Brief Descriptions of New Munzee Types

Surprise Munzee: When captured, it will take on the best point characteristics of a random Munzee from a predetermined list for points (e.g. Full Hotel/Motel, Diamond Ruby, etc)
Virtual Trails: Distance rules are the same as physical Trail Munzees, and the point structure is extended for stops 6-10.
Scatter Munzee: When captured, this munzee will throw out (similar to the ghost pellet specials) 4 special munzees on greenies within a 1 mile radius that can be captured within 2 hours. Anyone can capture these new munzees.
Prize Wheel Munzee: When captured, the player will receive points or rewards randomly based on a predetermined list (e.g. 20-100 points, DIamond +10 points, Hotel + 10 points, etc).
Unicorn Munzee: These munzees behave like nomads, but are owned by players.

Full descriptions of each Munzee will be released on the blog the day they go for sale.

NOTE: We are still accepting submissions for the Make Us A Munzee competition. The munzees we are releasing next week have been in production for quite some time. Though some of the submissions we have received are very similar, the new releases are not reflective of that competition.

Make Us A Munzee

We’re always looking for new ways to innovate and enhance Munzee, and why not ask the people who make the game great? We’re taking suggestions for new types of Munzees to add to the game. Just follow this link and submit your idea! We’ll choose some of the best and put them to a vote. The winner will work with us to create the new Munzee, be given a set amount of them upon release, and be credited for the idea when released and in it’s description on the Types page on the Munzee website, and get a lifetime Premium Membership! Get your ideas in fast, though. Submissions will only be accepted through the end of the month!

Christmas Parties and Something to Watch For

First off, thanks from Louise for all the Christmas Party submissions and artwork requests. They are all set in the queue, and Trish is steadily working through them. Just recently completed was the host badges for all the different packages and the attendee badge. We thought you might like to see the badge you will get if you attend a Christmas Party this December. We hope you are digging out your best Christmas attire in preparation for the Dodgy Jumper competition! The badge for the winner of that at each event is pretty special! Keep your eyes peeled for a sneak peek of that at some point soon! Any issues or concerns about events please contact Louise directly at louise@munzee.com.

Nobody Told Me

Howdy everyone! — I’m back from a week of rest. I really appreciate the entire team for taking over some of my responsibilities. It was nice to come back and find a nice clean desk (thanks Cecie), a new item on the map (that was a by-product of a team brainstorm), and some excited people. I’m writing this to update you, the players, on a few things that have been going on, a few slips, and some good news for tomorrow and the future.

As a company, we’ve promised to be more transparent and upfront with you, our players. In that spirit, we have a few things to update you on and announce.

Munzee App Update

Yesterday (November 4th), we pushed Munzee 3.0.3 to the App Store and Google Play Store. This update included:

An Updated Scanner that reflects GPS accuracy
The ability to turn the capture sound on and off
Referral Codes
Improved GPS
Various bug fixes and improvements

We’d like to reiterate that each of our apps has a dedicated team working on them. Each member of those teams works solely on their assigned app. We are constantly working to improve and update our apps to provide the best playing experience possible.

Server Issues

The servers for Munzee Inc are hosted off site at a hosting provider. This past weekend, that hosting provider had a major network outage that affected many companies, including us. While we were in contact with the hosting provider, we were unable to get a time frame for restoration of functionality to pass on due to the uncertainty of the exact issue. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that these issues caused. We are exploring multiple avenues to keep this from happening and provide an up-to-date status of the Munzee services.

Videocast

Matt and I will be doing a videocast again tomorrow (Friday) at 2pm MHQ time to provide updates and answer questions. Make sure to join us on Google+.

Flat Robs

I will be out of town on business this weekend, so Flat Robs will appear again on the map after the videocast tomorrow through Sunday at 23:59 CST. Remember, you don’t have to redeploy them. They will appear in the location they were originally deployed.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks with both good and bad, but we’re excited to move forward. We appreciate each and every one of you, and we come to work each day with you in mind. Cut Off Date for Customised Christmas Events

We’ve been overwhelmed with the response for Christmas Party events. The amount of submissions is requiring us to make a cut off date so that all requested customised badges and icons can be completed in time. No further submissions for customised badges and icons for December will be accepted after 17:00 CST tomorrow, November 4^th.

We have, however, drawn up generic badges and icons that can be customised with event names so that hosts can still be in for the Artful Dodger and/or Full Turkey Dinner levels. We want to make sure we provide the best service possible, so please contact Louise straight away if you’re interested in fully customised artwork for your December event.

Also, it seems some event submissions aren’t going through correctly, so if you have attempted to contact us for an event and haven’t heard back, please email Louise directly at louise@munzee.com so she can get your request in before the cut off time.

It’s Alive! Frankenstein Specials for Halloween!

It’s almost Halloween, we thought we’d have a little fun (remember, #DontTellRob). From 00:01 MHQ Time on October 30th (tomorrow) until 23:59 MHQ Time on November 8th, you’ll have the chance to build your own
monster! The only catch? You have to collect all of the parts.

There will 1915 bags on greenies around the world. To complete your monster, you will have to capture 6 of these bags. Each one will give you a new part on your monster. After the 6th capture, you’ll have a complete monster and earn a special badge. Any subsequent captures will be surprise parts for your monster.

The icons will bounce every six hours or when captured. You will earn 18 points for capping the icons, and the owner of the host Munzee will also earn 18 points. The special map for these is https://www.munzee.com/halloween.

Announcing the #DontTellRob Sale!

Rob has gone missing!

Well not really. Our faithful Munzee President Rob Vardeman is just taking a much needed vacation and left the rest of us in charge. So while Rob is away, MHQ will play! The power has gone to our heads though, and we’ve decided to have a #DontTellRob sale in the Munzee store all week. Starting NOW until Saturday at midnight MHQ Time we’ll have exclusive sales on a variety of items. Get to the store now, before Rob finds out!

Flat Rob Pins

Flat Bob had his fun masquerading around for Eventzee, but now Flat Rob is taking his rightful place on the Munzee map. Flat Rob pins will be virtual munzees available for $5 in the online store until Saturday at 23:59 MHQ time. Once they’re gone, they won’t be available for purchase until Rob leaves again- and he doesn’t do that very often!

These unique virts can be deployed anywhere without having to worry about proximity to other types of munzees. Proximity rules will be in effect regarding other Flat Rob pins (i.e. 50ft between other players’ deploys). These munzees will earn you 19 points for deploy and a 76 point split for capture and cap-on. You’ll also get a badge for capping or deploying a Flat Rob.

There’s a slight catch, though. Flat Rob pins can only be deployed and captured while Rob is out of the office (vacations, Munzee events, holidays, etc). So make sure you deploy these pins before Saturday. These will count toward personal streaks and can be capped by a blast cap.

Be sure to share your Flat Rob location on social media and include the #DontTellRob hashtag as well. So let’s see Flat Rob all across the map until the real Rob gets back on Saturday!

These are available for purchase and will be visible on the map until 23:59 MHQ time on Saturday, October 31st.

Bejeweled

Hot off the heels of the Family Jewels Badge we have a Jewel Credit Pack available in the store for $15. These four jewel credits would normally cost you $21- so it’s like getting an Amethyst for free! Who could pass up that offer?

This includes:

1 Diamond credit
1 Ruby credit
1 Aquamarine credit
1 Amethyst credit.

Blast Off

Starting today you will be credited a free Blast Capture for spending $50 or more in the Munzee store. So bombs away!

The Future Is Now!

Well October 21st has come and gone. Still no self lacing shoes (yet!), no flying cars, and the Cubs won’t be winning the world series… But, we did have hover boards! For one gleaming day, hover boards were a reality in the Munzee world, and you guys went out and got them! During the 48 hours in which it was October 21st throughout the world, players captured 87,116 hover board icons!

We’d also like to take this opportunity to recognize Rob Steer and the Back to the Future Day event he hosted in Shepparton, Australia. The badge for capturing the hover board icons was a variation on the badge our designers created for his event.

To everyone who participated in Back to the Future Day events over the past few days, thank you! We hope you all enjoyed the special. We’ve got more exciting things coming!
