🗺️ Introducing The Map Pak!

Last year our team began investigating the possibility of incorporating Google Maps into the app, and we’re excited to announce that after much testing we’re ready to offer this option to all players! In order to make this a viable option the Google Maps upgrade will be part of a new program we’re calling the Map Pak!

Google Maps Integration

Players can purchase the Map Pak through Shopify HERE for $4.00, which will give you 1 month access to Google Maps, plus 200 Zeds. For now this will not be a recurring payment and instead you’ll need to manually purchase the Map Pak each month. We expect to add a subscription option when we confirm everything is working as intended. This will be a long term solution we hope to offer very soon. After purchasing your Map Pak please give it a few minutes and then restart the app to find the new map option in the Settings menu. This section will now allow you to switch between using Apple or Google Maps at any time while the subscription is active. This area will also display how long until your subscription expires. NOTE – You must have the latest update 4.1.207 downloaded from the app stores in order to access this option. Please update to the latest version before purchasing the Map Pak to ensure everything still works as expected on your device.

The Map Pak purchase will help handle the costs associated with Google Maps, which have risen incrementally over the years. As many of you know, Google charges developers for using Google Maps. For those Munzee players who want to use Google Maps, we are incorporating those charges into the monthly Map Pak at our cost. Because of our game’s requirements for constant real world map refreshing this has previously been unattainable, but the Map Pak will allow users who choose to use Google Maps to do so.

Thank you to the Munzee beta testing group for helping us through this process, but please be patient as we roll this out to a larger group and be aware that there are some smaller known issues we will continue to work on. We want to acknowledge that unforeseen challenges are always possible, so your feedback will be invaluable as we continue to refine and improve our app.

Single Sign-On Limit

Alongside the Map Pak update we have also included a single sign-on limit for all users. If your account logs into the Munzee App on another device, you’ll be logged out and see a pop up notification on the original device as well. This limit is only for using the app across multiple phone/tablet devices, so players can still log into the website multiple times without affecting the app. The purpose of this change is to improve account security and to reduce issues that stem from account sharing.

Although these new features are live in the game, we’re still actively monitoring the impact so there could be further changes ahead if things need adjusted. Thank you for your understanding as we strive to offer better experiences game-wide. We understand that not everyone will choose to partake in the Map Pak, but we always encourage you to play your way, and we know the Google Maps addition has been a much requested feature. We strive to make the game’s experience smoother, more immersive, and ultimately more enjoyable for everyone, so good luck on your journey ahead!

🎈Balloon Bouncers take the CAKE! 🍰

Hey there, party people! You’ve all been hard at work earning Cake Credits for activities related to Munzee Events and now it’s time to cash them in for a party favor! There’s a variety of goodies you can swap for Cake Credits in the Redeem Store, but we’re excited to kick off the the party by also introducing Temporary Balloon Bouncers! Plus some exclusive redeemable goodies for our Premium Members.

Balloon Bouncers:

Any good balloon artist will tell you, these high-flying helium holders can be transformed into a number of different shapes! So you can certainly deploy a plain Balloon bouncer, but for a few more Cake Credits you can also deploy unique balloon animal designs as well! Some balloon animal bouncer styles will be available year round, while others (like the Lunar Dragon) will only be available for a limited time. So don’t miss out!

Balloon Tiers:

Balloons will be categorized into three Tiers based on their value, which will also dictate the Cake Credits cost, the amount of points earned, and how many captures before each balloon is archived.

• Cake Cost: 50, 80, 150
• Maximum Captures: 10, 20, 50

Points:

Capture and CapOn points for all Balloons will be the same, but the Deploy points will depend on the Tier of the Balloon.

• Deploy Points: 100, 200, 500
• Capture Points: 250
• CapOn Points: 300

Landing Pads:

Different Balloons will have unique landing pads, but each type will bounce to the following every 6 hours or when captured:

• Greenies
• All Virtual Colors
• Treehouses
• Skylands
• Event Host Lounge
• All Bouncer Destinations except Scrap Star

A Journey to the deep with NEW MECHZ!

We’ve heard of penny pinching, but you’ve hoarded enough Sand Dollars to fill Poseidon’s underwater vault! Put all that hard work to good use and embark on a daring quest for a 4 star feast! Prepare to dive deep into the depths in pursuit of the FOUR NEW ST@RFiSH MECHZ in the Redeem Store! These new marine mechz are eagerly awaiting capture, but be warned – they won’t surrender easily! 

ST@RFiSH Mechz!

We’re excited to introduce FOUR mesmerizing ST@RFiSH Mechz: Sunset Surge, embodying the beauty of a seaside sunset; Tealstream, with the serene hue of ocean blue tinged with algae; Royal Reef, showcasing regal reds and purples unseen in marine depths; and Gilded Coral, gleaming with the ocean’s Midas touch. Each boasts its own unique charm and allure.

Today, THREE ST@RFiSH are available to redeem for Sand Dollar credits! The Tealstream and Royal Reef are available to any players with Sand Dollars, and the Gilded Coral will be exclusive for Premium players to redeem. After you redeem any of the other three ST@RFiSH when you rebuild it with Cogs you’ll have the possibility of deploying a Sunset Surge as well as any of the colors you’ve already deployed. The more colors of ST@RFiSH you deploy the more options that will be randomized when rebuilding in the future.

Like other Munzee Mechz all ST@RFiSH are temporary POBs, remaining on the map until they have been captured 5 times. Each will automatically deploy on your account upon purchase, and you can rebuild them for 13 Cogs each. These Mechz will be in the store until 12:00 MHQ on Friday, March 15th, so shop before this 4 ST@R catch slips into the digital deep!

When a ST@RFiSH is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Starpoons that match the color scheme of each Mech.

These scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Mech owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. Since they are passive deploys, these scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity.

Badges:

There is only one Blueprint badge for all four ST@RFiSH Mech. As a reminder what you rebuild will depend on how many ST@RFiSH you’ve redeemed with Sand Dollar credits. There will also be a badge for capturing one of each ST@RFiSH as well.

Sowulo, linked with the sun goddess Sol, embodies vitality and well-being, reminding us that strength comes from within. Algiz is a rune of protection like Eihwaz, but emphasizes maintaining and utilizing positive relationships. Let these runes guide you in embracing self-awareness!

Munzee King 2024

Aim true with the new King of Munzee! A big HUZZAH to Whelen, the new MUNZEE KING! Whelen was on target when he climbed the leaderboard to the #1 spot —he snatched that crown straight out of midair and earned the rightful place as the #1 Player!

Bullseye Details

Whelen’s achievements hit the mark, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, we’ve created a new temporary POB, specially crafted in celebration of Whelen skills and complementing profile picture. Whelen has been a bullseye of a player in capturing Munzee’s; if you are lucky enough to capture his honorary Bullseye Bouncer, you will be too! Once captured, be sure to leave Whelen well-wishes in his victorious year!

The Bullseye will remain on the map for the next 45 days and will be archived on 12:00 MHQ on Friday, March 15th. We’ve deployed 100 of these on Whelen’s account! After which one Bullseye will remain permanently on Whelen’s account.
