👋 Goodbye “Clan Wars”, Hello “Gauntlet Games”! ⚔️

All good things must come to an end, and after 13 years of more than 150 battles we are retiring Clan Wars and ushering in a new era of co-operative gameplay to the world of Munzee! Say hello to Gauntlet Games, a new and improved take on our monthly team-based challenges. We know this change may come as a shock, but while some of this refresh may just be cosmetic we’re excited to introduce new gameplay features, and explore even more options in the future!

Why are you changing “Clan Wars” to “Gauntlet Games”?

Although we embrace the competitive spirit of our players, when internally discussing how to best grow one of the biggest aspects of the game we approached the purpose of co-op gameplay from a different aspect. While “Wars” and “Battles” may encourage fierce combat, we found what really drove the success of these monthly competitions was the camaraderie of teams working together to accomplish the goals our staff has challenged them with. 

There has never been any particular battle dynamic between opposing Clans, so we have decided to highlight the teamwork of our newly minted “Guilds” with this new iteration of co-op gameplay. We want to emphasize that the Gauntlet Games are something players of all skill levels can aspire to, whether they’re casual players or dedicated Level 6 completionists! In other words, the purpose isn’t primarily Clan vs Clan (although peruse the Clan Leaderboard if you dare!), but instead the members of your guild working together to overcome the Gauntlet Guardian’s increasingly difficult challenges!

What exactly is changing?

The first update related to the introduction of Gauntlet Games is largely cosmetic, but expect more changes in the coming months! For now the main changes you’ll notice are:

  • Mentions of “Clan Wars” have been updated to “Gauntlet Games”
  • Mentions of “Clan Wars Requirements” have been updated to “Gauntlet Guide”
  • Mentions of “Clan Weapons” have been updated to “Gauntlet Weapons”
  • Mentions of “Clans” have been updated to “Guilds”

Alongside these copy changes, we’ve updated art assets that reference the old Clan Wars branding as well, which means you’ll see various new logos for Gauntlet Games in place of old Clan Wars ones. 

We’ve also polished the base Gauntlet Weapon pin images with the introduction of an ALL NEW Weapon Forging feature you can read about further down in this post. These base designs may not look drastically different from before, but they are definitely a little sleeker, and set the stage for some striking new forms when forged!

And lastly, the monthly Gauntlet Games level badges will be sporting a new look as well — keep an eye out for the May 2026 Gauntlet Guide post for a sneak peek!

Where can I expect to see these changes?

There are a number of areas in the app and website that will be updated in the coming days, including the Clan Wars Hub, the Profile and Badges sections, the Freeze Tag Online Store, Munzee Blog, the Munzee Help Guide and more.

Of course, this is not an exhaustive list, and although we are making a number of changes live, note that some changes will happen over time. So if you notice an area in the app or online that still needs to be updated, please give us some time to get everything cleaned up before sending in support tickets.

When can I expect to see these changes?

We will be updating most areas of the app and its related websites over the next few days. During this transition period, you may still find old references to “Clan Wars”, “Clan Weapons”, and “Clans”, or you may still see old Clan Wars logos and other images. Please refrain from creating support tickets or commenting on our social posts about these old references / images as they are most likely already on our list of things to update — we just need the time to update them.

Of course, if a significant amount of time has passed and a certain area still hasn’t been updated, perhaps we did truly miss it. So, if you do notice an area we missed after May 28, 2026 — please do let us know!

How can I participate in Gauntlet Games?

Whether you’re in a guild of 1 or a guild of up to 10, you can play your way and strive to meet the requirements set for your preferred level in the current month’s Gauntlet Games. All you need to do is either create or join a guild! Here are our Help Guide articles that will walk you through the process — again, please note that it may still use the old Clan Wars terminology depending on how soon you visit these links after this blog is published, but the processes should still be the same:

Anything else I need to know about Gauntlet Games?

One of the most exciting features we’re launching today is ALL NEW Elemental Gauntlet Weapons! These game pieces are an extension to the current line of Gauntlet Weapons that can now be converted and upgraded using Elemental Mysteries! Fuse all 7 weapon types with Fire, Ice, Air, and Void Mysteries for MORE POINTS, and bonus scatters. 

This new Weapon Forging feature is available NOW and you can learn all about it on the Munzee Help Guide HERE!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember that converting a previously deployed Gauntlet Weapon will update the deploy points on the original date deployed. It will not award points on the day it was converted, unless it was deployed earlier that day. If you want to earn new Gauntlet Weapon points on the current day, you’ll need to deploy a new Gauntlet Weapon or use the SWAP feature!
