Personal Munzee Gameplay Update

Happy Friday! Today we’re announcing a slight update to how personal munzees operate. Previously the owners of a personal munzee were able to deploy up to 3 times per day in new locations by scanning the munzee in the location they wanted to deploy it, leaving the munzee open for capture up to one mile away. You are now able to deploy your personal munzee up to 10 times in a day!

Deploying a personal munzee multiple times in a day allows for players to deploy at events and then walk around the area while still being able to have their personal munzee captured. As a reminder, personal munzees are exempt from proximity rules, so there can be deployed anywhere you wish up to 10 times in a day now.

Introducing the Banshee Mythological Munzee!

What’s all that wailing about?! Cover your ears, because our latest Mythological Munzee is shrieking her way into the game!

Beware the Banshee

The Banshee Munzee is based on the wailing widow of Irish Folklore and will be available for purchase on March 15 at 10:00 MHQ time. Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! You can find the Banshee Munzee bouncing around on Greenies, Shamrocks, Black Virtuals, and Air Mystery Munzees every 12 hours or when captured.

Each Banshee Munzee is numbered and will be owned by a player. You can pick yours up for a limited time from the Freeze Tag Online Store for $15! Just be sure to set your reminders for 10:00 MHQ time tomorrow to snag one before they sell out!

The sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership. Only ONE (1) Banshee Munzee is allowed per account. (But don’t worry, this wailing widow won’t let you leave her!)

At a more affordable price point, the Banshee will work a bit differently than other Myths that have recently been released. The Banshee Munzee will NOT include the ability to nudge or rename. However, you will be able to use a Bouncer Upgrade Credit to give her nudge and renaming abilities. Upgrading your Banshee will give it the ability to land on Green Virtual Munzees. This new upgrade feature will make it more likely to capture, with 10 additional colored virtual landing pads. You can find the full list of what it bounces to below.

The upgrade credit will also give you the ability to “nudge” your Banshee Munzee to a new munzee up to three times a day, following the MHQ 24-hour day, after it has been on its host Munzee for at least three hours. This nudging ability is only available for the owner via the munzee’s webpage and is not available in the app.

Your munzee will still retain its unique number, but feel free get creative when it comes to renaming your Banshee Munzee! (Know any wailing women in your life you want to immortalize?) Just be sure to follow the Player Code of Conduct, and remember Munzee maintains a family-friendly environment.

Ice Mystery DOUBLE Points Days and New Update!

Spring is on the way! Or at least it is over here at MHQ. (You’ll just have to play along if you’re still experiencing the Polar Vortex or if you’re Down Under.) To fully prepare, help us melt the ice with our Ice Mystery Munzee double points days announcement!

From March 20 at 00:01 MHQ time through March 24 at 23:59 MHQ time, all points for any activity on Ice Mystery munzees will be double! And this isn’t the only good news…

Ice Mystery Updates

These double points are arriving at an optimal time, since we have also decided to make some adjustments to our current Ice Mystery system. When captured, the Ice Mystery “freezes” three greenies within 2,500 feet. These will stay frozen for two hours or until capped, whichever comes first.

Capping these frozen greenies will soon result in one of two updated outcomes:

  1. There is a chance that you “thaw” the frozen greenie. If you do, you earn 50 Capture points and the owner of the host greenie earns 10 CapOn points. This outcome remains the same as it previously was.
  2. The other outcome delivers a double update! If you get frozen, your screen will turn blue, and you cannot play for 30 seconds, instead of the previous 1 minute ban. In addition, you will now earn 100 points for being frozen! Turns out a little frostbite is not so bad after all!

These updates are effective beginning March 20 at 00:01 MHQ time.

We have a very limited supply of Ice Mystery Munzees in the Freeze Tag Online Store, available for $10 for FIVE Ice Mystery Munzees. Fortunately you can also pick them up from resellers too, so stock up before March 20th to make the most of your ICE days!

Points

If you need a little refresher, Deploying an Ice Mystery Munzee earns 50 points, while Capture/CapOn is a sum of 60 by multiples of 5 with a minimum of 10 points. For example, if Capture = 45 points, CapOn = 15 points.

Remember that the double points will run in conjunction with the newly updated points system! This means that all Ice Mystery Munzees AND frozen greenies capped or deployed from  March 20 through March 24 will be worth double points at our new point values. It might prove highly beneficial to get a little frosty, so don’t fear the cold!

Existing badges will continue to be awarded for Capture, Deploy, and Being Frozen. There are a total of nine badges you can earn. The first in each category appears as follows:

Mark Your Calendars for Shamrock Point Updates!

The luck of the Irish is certainly with you this month, as we decided to announce the Shamrock Munzee point update early! That’s right, if you’re not too busy drinking green beverages, there will be some extra points to earn for this festive holiday.

Starting at 00:01 MHQ on March 17, all points for Shamrock Munzees will be increased. You can find the new point values below, but you can also pick up Shamrock stickers from resellers to prepare for St. Paddys! Please note that Shamrocks are currently exclusive to resellers, so the Freeze Tag Online Store does not have any available.

  • Deploy: 100
  • Capture: 51
  • CapOn (Host): 51

And that’s not all! In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, from 00:01 to 23:59 MHQ time, all activity on Shamrocks will be worth double points! Yes, you’re reading this correct. You will be earning double points on the newly updated point values! Remember that Shamrocks are physical munzees, and they attract a variety of Bouncers as well, so be sure to stock up!
