Introducing Daily Captures On Greenies!

While the Snowbirds have been at play Team Munzee has been hard at work behind the scenes preparing for a momentous 2024! Much of last year was focused on rebuilding our backend to prepare for the future, and now we’re ready to enact some of those big changes in 2024. We’re kicking things off with a BANG, because starting NOW players will be able to capture Greenies daily!

Yes, you read that right. Much like POIs, we’ve made the decision to allow greenies to be recaptured each day. Greenies are the backbone of the game, and we want to promote recurring gameplay for all of our players around the world. Our mission has always been to grow the map, and for nearly 13 years our players have excelled at encouraging discovery and outward expansion. In order to help grow our community we want players to be able to maintain and celebrate their local areas as well. We’re constantly impressed with players traveling hours to chase down specials or conquer clan requirements, but we also want to encourage new players to take part in daily gameplay so that they too can advance into more skilled aspects of the game.

While we anticipate this change being permanent, we’re still very actively monitoring gameplay and more than likely there will be some fine tuning on the horizon. Although we understand this is a big change for players who have been with us for more than a decade, we think it’s an important step for the future of the game. As 2024 continues we have even bigger plans ahead, so we appreciate that everyone keeps an open mind and focuses on constructive input. As always, there are a number of ways to play the game of Munzee so we encourage you all to take advantage of the changes to help in your own successes as well!

February 2024 Skin: Prosperous Glass Guardian!

As February approaches, we want to make sure you’re all set to work toward a NEW Glass Guardian skin! If you completed your January capture streak you’ll receive the Dragon Glass Guardian Skin (and corresponding badge) in early February. Get excited though, because what’s coming next month is bound to add a dazzling new sparkle to your Glass Guardian collection!

January Glass Guardian Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a base Glass Guardian yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $12.

How to have a permanent Guardian on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Guardians by the end of the year.
    • Each month, the price of a Guardian will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Guardian every 28 days.

February Glass Guardian Details

What Glass Guardian can you look forward to in February? Well you’re in luck, it’s the Prosperous Glass Guardian! This mysterious creature is a dragon like the previous iteration, but this skin seems to have elements similar to the Leprechaun! The Prosperous Glass Guardians is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as the players with permanent Glass Guardians continue to use it.

Event Spotlight: Munzee Mecca 2024

Even though you can play Munzee solo, the world of Munzee isn’t just about individual play; it’s about the thrill of connecting with fellow Munzee enthusiasts! Picture this: Munzee Events, where the air is exciting as veterans mingle with newcomers in a safe and welcoming setting. And hey, there’s more than just swapping stories –activities, games, and, if you’re lucky, snagging a sweet goodie bag! But let’s not kid ourselves; pulling off these shindigs takes some serious elbow grease. That’s why we’re shining the spotlight on past events! Get ready to be inspired to throw your bash if you’re a newbie or inject some fresh mojo into your gatherings if you’re a seasoned host.

Today, we’re featuring the Munzee Mecca Events, which took place over the weekend at various locations in Orlando, FL, USA. The weekend was full of events put together by a number of hosts, but for this Spotlight we chatted with host Linda Gartley, AKA CoalCracker7!

Please give us a summary of your event.

There were five events held over four days. The Thursday night event was a pre-meet and greet at the edge of a lake. I passed out the ten stops for the Tour of the Town Badge. Friday night was held at the Stained Glass House. We had a special badge for capping specific physicals. The main event was on Saturday. The event was held in a multi-use park with Roller Hockey, Splash Pad, Dog Park, Skate Park, Pickleball, and Soccer fields. We had Walking Tacos and Walking Nanner pudding (Banana Pudding) along with a drawing for a Premium Membership. 

We also played a version of Name That Tune. Clues were also given at each event to find one hidden personal tag. The Space Coast Geo Store was set up for everybody to buy Munzee-related items (i.e., lots of blasts). The Saturday Night Event was held at an Adventure Park with Water Skiing and Football and Soccer Fields. Saturday’s events also provided the opportunity to earn two additional badges for capping specific physicals on Saturday. The last event was on Sunday at the Wave Hotel Sculpture Garden. We provided donuts and coffee before everyone left for the day to go home. The Friday night, Saturday Main, Saturday Night, and Sunday morning events went mega.

What made your event unique?

We had visitors from Europe and all around the U.S. We also hosted special visitors, CoachV, SeeMyShell, and a Geocaching Vlogger. We had a total of five events over four days, with many new gardens to capture.

I believe that a good host should have lots of munzees available to capture, new gardens, and a variety of badges.

February Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges by reaching certain levels in Clan Wars. But remember, you only get a badge if the whole clan reaches that level. In February, there are six badges up for grabs. The first badge will appear as follows:February 2024 Level 1 Clan War Badge

Cash In Sand Dollar Credits!

To kick off 2024 we’re ignoring the winter warnings and celebrating sunnier seasons like our like-minded Snowbird friends! Vacationing at the beach can be a little tough on the budget though, so we’ve sifted through the sand and discovered an all new limited-time credit for you to earn!

Like Jewel Shards, Weapon Shards, and Cogs, you’ll be able to redeem Sand Dollar Credits (SDC) at the Redeem Store for game pieces. However, like the past limited-time credits, they can only be redeemed until 12:00 MHQ on Friday, March 15th. The goodies in the Redeem Store will change every few weeks, so be sure to check back often for new redeemable prizes!

How to Earn Sand Dollar Credits

Final Garden Hedge Blog!

As the year comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into January with your desired Garden Hedges! The skin for completing your December capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Penguin Garden Hedge shown below, will be awarded in early January. But, we couldn’t wait to tease what’s in store for next year!

December Garden Hedge Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Garden Hedge yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $1. But keep in mind they will all expire at the end of this year after Dec 31, 2023, unless you have collected enough to keep a permeant one into the new year! Read on below to find out more!

You will have the ability to convert this permanent garden hedge into any of the skins you have earned in 2023.

All temporary Garden Hedges deployed in 2023 will be archived before we start the process of adding the new permanent Garden Hedges to players’ accounts.

We’ve continued to add badges to the “Overall deploy” and “Overall capture” lines — both lines now have 6 badges each. We’ll keep the requirements a secret, but here’s a peek at a few of the most recently released badges:
