NFC Munzee Conversion

As the launch of Munzee 4.0 gets closer, we have an update regarding the removal of the Near Field Communication (NFC) Munzee type.  All undeployed NFC Munzees are currently being archived and all deployed NFC Munzees are being converted to white Virtual Munzees.

Please note that players have not had the ability to deploy NFC Munzees for many years, but this next step will remove the type entirely from the map. Although NFC Munzees were technically a physical type, the GPS coordinates attached to the NFCs will be where the newly converted Virtuals are located. Additionally, this also includes a substantial point update from what NFCs used to be worth. For those that have captured NFC Munzees in the past your capture count will remain in tact and you’ll still be able to see the special icon under the achievements tab.
UPDATE: This newly deployed virtual is available to be captured by anyone who previously capped the NFC. It is a brand new deploy.

Deploy Points:
5 —> 55

Capture/CapOn Points:
5 —> 70 points split with a minimum of 10
3 —>     *             *              *              *

We appreciate the player support for this type, but unfortunately NFC technology is not easily accessible for developers on all platforms so it’s time to move on. We promise the release of 4.0 is very close, so once again thank you for your patience during all of these changes. Remember this is just the start, we have some really big plans ahead!

November 2018 Clan Requirements

Clan Battle #68 will start November 3 at 00:01 MHQ! We tried something new last month, but there are still some kinks that need ironed out. UPDATE: WE REMOVED A LINE PEOPLE COULDN’T UNDERSTAND HERE. You do not need to complete the levels sequentially in order to earn the rewards. UPDATE: CHOOSE A LEVEL. COMPLETE THE REQUIREMENTS. EARN THE REWARDS.

Requirements this month are based on both individual and Clan activity, so you’ll need to work together and hold one another accountable.

If you would like to join a clan for the first time or want to find a new clan you can use our Clan Randomizer button, but it is only available from 00:01 November 1 through 23:59 November 2 so act fast!

Level 1:

Introducing Variant Mythological Munzees!

The Myths you know and love are getting a makeover! We’re excited to announce all new Mythological Munzee Variants. Much like AlternaMyths these are twists on the original Myth types that allow them to bounce to other types of munzees. These variants are only available to Myths that have been “Upgraded” and you can only change the type once.

To start things off we’re launching two variants for both the Fairy and the Unicorn. We plan on releasing more Myth Variants in the coming months, so stay tuned to see some changes to your favorite Munzee critters. Remember if you purchased a Fairy it has already been “Upgraded” so you will not have to purchase an additional Myth Upgrade. Unicorns will require a Myth Upgrade to unlock the Variants though. You can purchase Myth Upgrades in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

You can convert your Myths via the website similar to how you would convert any other type of Munzee. Remember that you can only convert a Myth Variant once and after a Myth has been changed it cannot go back.

Points for Variant Myths will remain the same, they will continue counting toward their specific Myth badges just like normal. The only thing that changes is what it bounces to as well as a new capture icon in the Specials list.

In celebration of the new Myth Variants we have added a limited amount of Unicorn and Fairy Myths to the Freeze Tag Store! We have also put together a Variant Elemental Pack to help you bring some of these new myths near you.

Since the Fairies are also attracted to Air Mysteries we have reset the current monthly limit. The new limit, beginning today, is 10 every 10 days. Air Mysteries have also been discounted as well.

Virtual Point Update and Conversion! New Virtual Colors!

In the next phase of point updates, we have some big news regarding Virtual Munzees. As you may have noticed there has been a change to the map! Moving forward all MVM, Mystery Virtuals, and regular Virtuals have all been converted into a single new “Virtual” type. With this conversion comes a point update as well!

All Virtual types will now be worth the following moving forward, not retroactive:

  • Deploy = 55 points
  • Capture = between 10 & 70 points
  • CapOn = split points with Capture  (Ex: if 30 for Cap, 40 for CapOn, etc.)

Our hope is that the conversion of Virtuals will make it easier for new players as they begin their Munzee adventure. Although the point increase from Mystery Virtuals and MVMs to the new type is not huge, the jump for the original virtual points is! All of the oldest virtual gardens in the world just received a MAJOR upgrade! Please note that alongside the Virtual conversion, the Virtual Quiz Munzee is no more. All Virtual Quizzes have been converted to the new type as well.

COLOR CREDITS

Alongside the Virtual Conversion we have also expanded the number of Virtual Color Credits! Now you can bring an entirely new level of detail into your Virtual Gardens with more than 60 colors of any shade you might need! Bring out those baby blues with Cornflower! Follow the yellow brick road with Goldenrod! Get a little cheesy with Macaroni and Cheese! If you can dream it, we can color it!

Remember, Virtual Color Credits can be purchased in the Freeze Tag Online Store for $0.50 and that credit can then be used in-app or online to choose from the wide variety of colors. Did you know there are several Facebook groups dedicated to building Virtual Gardens all over the world? Kjasdad even started a master spreadsheet to track all the Gardens!


We know change can be a bit scary, but we hope you can all embrace the conversion and understand the larger end goal of making this game we love more comprehensive to new players. Thank you all for your support throughout the 4.0 launch process. Good luck and go build those Gardens!

A ZOMBIE OUTBREAK HAS TAKEN OVER MUNZEE!

It appears Zombies have been attacking Greenies across the world! It all began at 00:01 when Patient Zero attacked Kardinya Primary in the most remote capitol city in the world, Perth Australia. McChickenNugget spread the virus to Melbourne Australia and then it was transmitted across the world, landing just half a mile from MHQ. Rob unknowingly infected the Munzee servers and it seems to be growing rapidly.

We don’t know what caused this infection, but here are the details we’ve been able to gather:

Zombie Emergency Engagement (Z.E.E.) officials have announced an all out Zombie attack on October 31 at 23:59 MHQ. This will wipe out the remaining walkers, but we all have to survive until then.

Zombies crawl to Greenies every 9 hours or when captured. According to research on the Zombies’ genetic code, an average of 19 new Zombies are created every 6 hours. This growth rate is manageable, but we’ll need your help taking down any Zombie you see.

To reward your bravery you’ll earn 68 points for every Zombie you capture. Hosts brave enough to attract a Zombie will earn 19 points for CapOns. Zombies will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets if you’re crazy enough to use them. Remember you can purchase up to 10 Magnets every 10 days.

As a commendation of your survival skills there are two badge ranks you can earn by capturing Zombies: Zombie Survivor and Zombie Hunter.

Z.E.E. officials have not revealed how many Zombies you must capture in order to earn these badges, but survival knows no limits.

We know it’s a lot to ask, but you must help Z.E.E. keep these Zombies at bay until they’re wiped out completely. We believe in you and good luck scouring the map.

Gallop away with Flat Hammock!

The Flat Friends are about to make a new pal! Flat Rob, Flat Matt, and Flat Lou will have to watch their gameplay, because the ban hammer is knocking- welcome the all new Flat Hammock!

This new game piece is based on the one-man wrecking crew Daniel Hammock, who has been running Munzee Support for 5 years. No one at MHQ can think of a time when they’ve actually called him Daniel, or Danny as his family calls him. He’s always affectionately been known as Hammock. Although he started off as a player, in Hammock’s own words, his “dream came true” when he was given “the opportunity of a lifetime” to work for Munzee. Even before officially joining MHQ, Hammock always took it upon himself to help out the Munzee community with any and all issues that would arise. He is best known within the community for swinging the ban hammer, punishing all those who break the code of conduct. To those who know him well he’s a fluffy unicorn of a guy who is very kind and giving. In his free time he enjoys taking his family out for crazy Youtube adventures for the Munzee Monthly Giveaway and giving away prizes each month for players to enjoy. He’s also an avid fan of unicorns, if the Flat Hammock design didn’t make that very apparent.

The first Flat Hammock has been released as a permanent special in Gettysburg, PA. Players will normally be able to purchase their own Flat Hammocks in the Freeze Tag Online Store for $4. In celebration of our new Flat Friend though all Flat Munzees will be discounted! Remember that Flat Friends are not always on sale, so stock up while you can!

The Flat Friends Sale will last until Friday at 15:00 MHQ:

  • Louise: $4 (with $0.25 still going to charity)- originally $4.25

Like the other Flat Friends, Flat Hammock has a unique release schedule. Hammock may love working for Munzee, but he keeps busy with a variety of other jobs as well. Like other Flats he will choose when Flat Hammocks are available on the map, which will be during his working hours, major event seasons and more. Please note that all scheduled times are based on MHQ time and are subject to change. Since we’re in the middle of Halloween events though, all Flat Friends are on the map until the end of the month and Flat Hammock will join in the fun too!

Here is the general breakdown of Flat Hammocks:

Points:

Deploy – 19 Points
Cap/CapOn – Split 80 points with a minimum of 10 points.

Proximity: 

Flat Hammocks’ proximity is not affected by other munzees except other Flats. Flat Hammocks must be 50ft from other players’ deploys and 150ft from your own deploys.

You’ll also be able to earn a variety of badges for capturing and deploying Flat Hammocks.

Don’t forget about DOUBLE POINT FLAT FRIENDS WEEKEND! On Friday we challenged our players to attend events and capture event pins, and they successfully completed the challenge! There will be double points on all Flat Friends captures and deploys beginning October 26 at 00:01 until October 28 at 23:59. That’s MH-BOO Bash weekend too, so if you’re looking for somewhere to deploy why not check out McKinney, TX! The calendar is also full of events all month long!
