Awesome Aussie Animals Continue the Fundraising!

In our effort to raise funds for Australia Relief, we announced the creation of 3 new virtual gardens earlier in the week. The gardens sold out much faster than we had expected, which shows how ready and willing our community is to contribute to this cause! For those who were unable to purchase garden pins, we are proud to announce another opportunity for you with a new offering!

These ALL NEW Temporary Player Owned Bouncers (POBs) are adorable Aussie Animals and they’re on sale NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store! A portion of the proceeds from this sale will also be added to our Australia Relief donation, so thank you all for supporting this great cause!

Like Pouch Creatures, Aussie Animals are based on items from our sister app, WallaBee, and represent a new era of munzees to enjoy! Temporary POBs work much like regular POBs, but they’re only on the map for a limited amount of time.  There are two types of Aussie Animals, the Kangaroo and Koala, and since these munzees won’t be around forever they have a smaller purchase price of $5 each. You can also purchase up to 5 of each animal per player account!

Aussie Animals

Aussie Animals are temporary POBs that bounce to both physical and virtual munzees. They will stay on the map until 23:59 MHQ on April 30, when they will be automatically archived on your account. If you’ve ever deployed a Butterfly or Frog Evolution munzee, these will behave similarly with a few exceptions.

Aussie Animals will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a Kangaroo and Koala on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Aussie Animal visits you. However, Aussie Animals will be non-blastable. They will be attracted to Physical Magnets on Greenies and Virtual Magnets on White and Blue-toned Virtual Munzees. You can access Aussie Animals under the “Only Expiring Specials” filter.

Badges

All players who purchase a Kangaroo Aussie Animal or a Koala Aussie Animal will receive the respective deploy badge shown below:

Additionally, there will be three badges to earn based on number of captures of Aussie Animals specials. But just how many captures it takes to earn all 3 badges will be kept a secret! However, we will reveal the first badge in the line, which appears as follows:

Jumping Joeys – Capture 1 Aussie Animal Munzee of any type.

Remember these temporary POBs will only be available for capture until the end of April, so cap as many as you can and keep them bouncing!

Help Our Friends Down Under With The Australia Relief Virtual Garden!

UPDATE 1/15/2020:

All the Kangaroo Garden in Adelaide, the Koala Garden in Melbourne, and the Wombat Garden in Sydney are all SOLD OUT. Thank you all for your support! 

We have also updated the donation locations to better match the areas of the gardens. The funds raised from the Melbourne Koala Garden will actually be sent to the Country Fire Authority (CFA) and the funds raised from the new Sydney Wombat Garden will be sent to the NSW Rural Fire Service. The gardens are the same size so there is no difference in donation amount assuming all are sold. Apologies for the confusion on our part!

Last week we announced some special guests were attending the upcoming Australia Day events Down Under, but we also mentioned some possible opportunities to support those affected by the wildfires. We’ve probably all watched the destruction taking place in Australia from the wildfires and we wanted to help in some way.

One virtual munzee will automatically be deployed in the Sydney Garden after it has been purchased. 30% of the proceeds from this item will support emergency relief efforts through a donation to the The NSW Rural Fire Service. Today we are launching a new Kangaroo virtual garden dedicated to providing some relief to the affected animals and communities in and around Adelaide. 30% of the proceeds from the sales of this specific garden will go to the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, located just off the coast of Adelaide. This garden is near the upcoming Australia Day events, and thankfully the hosts have informed us the area is safe from fires.

Elvis’s Glasses Have Left the Building!

It’s a well-known fact in the Munzee community that we are fans of the The King. Dylan has even graced an event in his likeness! Following the success of last week’s special Spectacular Spectacles, our second 20/20 Vision Munzee will add a little rock-and-roll to your wardrobe with its conveniently attached sideburns! These beauties were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. Time to fry up some peanut butter and banana sandwiches!

Only one pair of The King’s Sunglasses will be deployed, and it will bounce to all colors of virtual munzees every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

Capturing The King’s Sunglasses will add this rockin’ T-See-B badge to your collection! Remember, down the line we’ll be putting out an overall capture line, so don’t forget to check back for updates.

Elvis was a prolific artist, releasing many timeless classics such as “Burning Love,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” and “Hound Dog”! His talent also translated well to both the big and small screens, racking up quite a few film and TV credits. If you’ve experienced every piece of media about Elvis, but still want more, you may be excited to hear a new biopic is scheduled for release next year!

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. Foresight is 20/20 with these New Specials!

This Throwback Thursday harkens back to the joys of yesteryear with an equally special announcement. Following the success of last year’s Global Grub specials, we are excited to announce that our first of two dozen 20/20 Vision specials for the year will be launching this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. If you use reading glasses, make sure you have them equipped so you can learn all about these special accessories!

The 20/20 Vision specials are very rare munzees that will bounce around the world for the remainder of the year. That means you’ll be spending the next twelve months capturing pins featuring 24 different pairs of glasses in order to earn their corresponding badges. We hope spotting these rare munzees will help to train and improve your vision!

Our first 20/20 Vision special to launch is the Spectacular Spectacles Munzee! This physical munzee, features a pair of plain black frames. These may seem a little basic, but don’t worry there’s all sorts of eye-catching eyewear in store! Only one will be deployed, and it will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Magnets though so be sure to stock up! 


Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Players will earn a badge for each different 20/20 Vision Munzee they capture starting with the Perfect Vision badge for capturing the Spectacular Spectacles pin! Down the line, we’ll also be putting out an overall capture line, so stay tuned for more.

Each 20/20 Vision Munzee will go live at 15:00 MHQ on their assigned day. We’re not announcing when each launch will be, but we expect to release a couple specials each month.

All 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. Until then, you’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own. Although there is only one Spectacular Spectacles 20/20 Vision Special, future releases may include more. You’ll just have to wait and see! Some of these specials will be physical, while others will be virtual. Keep in mind that virtuals will not be blastable.

New Year’s Resolution Streak Badges Return!

Last year we introduced our Resolution Streak Badges. Each month had a different goal for personal growth to focus on, ranging from the simple and specific (August’s “Read More”) to the more complex and broad (December’s “Give More”). We love reading the comments on these posts to learn how our players have achieved these monthly goals in different ways! To continue our journey of self-improvement, we decided to renew this badge line for 2020!

This year, we wanted to bring back the focus to one of the biggest benefits our game has — the ability to make being active fun! Each month will focus on a popular exercise. Who knows, you might be inspired to add one to your routine! Similar to the Super Streak badges all you have to do is capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. If you can make it through the whole month you’ll be awarded a badge themed to that month’s resolution goal!

To ease into this theme without too many sore muscles, we decided to keep this month simple and highlight the tried-and-true Jumping Jack! We hope just thinking about them won’t make you weak in the knees!

Did you know?

The American origins for this exercise can be traced back to World War I, believed to be developed by an Army Officer and inspired by a once-popular children’s toy which made a similar motion to the exercise. In the United Kingdom, this exercise is called a “Star Jump” due to the shape your body makes when doing this exercise. Perhaps we’ll try out this alternative name as we converse about our New Year’s Resolutions!

Jumping jacks are a great cardio exercise. If the standard jumping jack is actually tough on your knees, there are a few ways to reduce the pain — make sure you are on a level surface, wear good shock-absorbing shoes, keep your knees slightly bent, and try to keep your jumps gentle as well. If shoulder pain is a concern, try half jacks, which are the same as regular jumping jacks except that you bring your arms up halfway. Of course, please exercise (pun intended) extreme caution when trying this out. Consult your doctor before starting a new exercise routine, and always listen to your body. Stop when you feel too much pain. A little pain is okay — no pain, no gain, right? But don’t push yourself way past what your body is capable of**. All exercises have modifications to accommodate all body types.

We know capping a munzee each day won’t magically make you more fit, but we hope as you work towards this capture streak you think about squeezing in a few reps! Any movement is better than none at all! We’re all in this together and if nothing else it will help you get one step closer to the yearlong capture and deploy streak badges. We’ll have a different resolution badge design each month, but try and keep up with your resolutions throughout the year! We believe in you!

Continue Caroling with the 12 Days of Texmas!

Ho, Ho, Howdy! Before we closed our offices, we thought we’d schedule in one more surprise for y’all!

Alongside our Ho Ho Hoedown Christmas Events, these specials are a holiday tribute to Munzee’s Texas roots. As you may have seen on our Facebook Page earlier today, our CZeeO is quite a caroler! We wanted to share his joy of Christmas music with all our players, so we came up with our very own “12 Days of Texmas” specials! The first day’s special is now on the map, but you’ll have to stay tuned each day to see what the newest special is!

Kringle’s Cowboy Hat Special

A new special will go live on each of the 12 Days (6 physical, 6 virtual), but at varying times each day — we want you to be surprised! All 12 specials will remain on the map until January 6 at 23:59 MHQ time. Depending on the special’s type, it will either bounce to greenies or virtuals every 6 hours or when captured, and be attracted to the corresponding Magnets.

A different number of bouncers will be released for each icon, but to start off 110 Kringle’s Cowboy Hats will be on the map until the 6th. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Magnetus Joins Munzee As the Latest Pouch Creature!

This pet with an unusual proboscis may be a pest to Santa and his elves, but only due to the sheer numbers! The magnetic force emanating from the Magnetus’s bill is so strong that they are often found stuck on the most inconvenient metal surfaces, i.e. the communal fridge, various power tools, and especially Santa’s sleigh — sometimes the reindeer aren’t able to take off due to the weight of all the attached Magnetus! To help reduce Magnetus numbers in the North Pole, the latest Pouch Creature is on sale NOW and through the weekend in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

That’s right, that means you won’t have to set your timers for odd hours in order to guarantee a Magnetus purchase! You can pick up your Magnetus Pouch Creature for $15. Magnetus will be joining the ranks of Mitmegu, Tuli, Vesi, Muru, and Hadavale as the latest Munzee Pouch Creature. Magnetus

Like the Pimedus we introduced earlier in the year, the Magnetus will operate similarly to a Prize Wheel, randomly offering different prizes for cappers and owners! You can earn points, magnets, maybe even the high point earning Virtual Deploy Booster Credit?!?! That means you never know what prize you’ll be getting! Unlike the Pimedus, the Magnetus is a benign being. It will always reward you with points, but the amount will be reduced if you receive an additional prize!

  • Deploy: 250 points
  • Capture: Will vary from the following options:
    • 150 – 200 points
    • 100 points and a Prize

The possible prizes Magnetus will attract may change at any given time, but it will always be something fun! While the capper of Magnetus will receive one of the listed prize options, each Magnetus owner will ALSO have the chance to earn a random prize for each CapOn! This magnetic platypus will draw the nearest metal object, so you never know what you’ll receive! The prize options at launch for CapOn will appear as follows:

When the Bouncer Upgrade credit is used, your Magnetus will also have the ability to be “nudged” to a new munzee. You can use the nudge feature up to three times a day (MHQ 24-hour day), but only after your munzee has sat for at least 3 hours. Additionally, the Bouncer Upgrade will also allow you to rename your Magnetus! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize your Pouch Creature’s moniker. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct, and be mindful of maintaining a family friendly environment!

Flat Day the 13th’s Friendly Festivities

Did you guess what today is? That’s right… it’s Friday the 13th! While we typically associate Friday the 13th with October, the conditions for this special day can happen up to 3 times a year! 2019 actually had 2 Friday the 13ths, but to extend our Halloween in December theme, we wanted to save Flat Day the 13th for today!

To celebrate, we’ve activated 2x points on all Flat Friends activity (excluding Fancy Flats)! If you’ve capped all the Flat Friends near you, fear not — you can stock up on some more at a 13% discount! Just head to the Freeze Tag Store!

Due to unforeseen issues, 2x points for all Flat Friend activity will be extended until 23:59 MHQ on Dec 15th, 2019. The 13% off Flat Friends sale will also now end at 23:59 MHQ on Dec 15th, 2019 so don’t delay in getting 2-dimensional!
