Find Your Footing With The Sasquatch Yeti!

This holiday season we’re proud to announce a new friendly fellow has joined The Rainbow Unicorn, Gnome Leprechaun, and Ice Dragon. Welcome The Sasquatch Yeti, the final phase one AlternaMyth! He’s a bit more down to Earth than his furry cousin, but he’s still as cool as can be.

As with the other AlternaMyths these Mythological Munzees are deployed on behalf of our HQ staff’s accounts, thus super rare. You’ll get 200 points for capping The Sasquatch Yeti. Owners of the host munzee will also earn double the points of normal Yetis.

Similar to normal Yetis, this large footed fellow bounces to Greenies and Ice Mystery Munzees every 12 hours, but as a forest dweller he’s also attracted to Earth Mystery Munzees. You can make it one (large) step easier and use a Munzee Magnet as well. Capturing Sasquatch Yetis will count towards the Myth Collector badges too.

We also have Sasquatch Yeti (as well as all of the other Myths and AlternaMyths) decals in the Munzee Online Store.

Christmas 2017 Special

Christmas is right around the corner, and people around the world are getting ready to celebrate. For some, that means bundling up and getting ready to play in the snow. For others, shorts and a t-shirt will be the attire of the season. Our Christmas special accounts for both of those groups.

: Sun Special

: Snowflake Special

Beginning now (15:00 MHQ time on December 15th), 1009 Sun icons and 1009 Snowflake icons (2018 in total) will be on the map. These specials will bounce on greenies every 6 hours or when capped. When you cap either of these icons, you will earn 20 points, and the owner of the host munzee will earn 18 points. These icons will leave the map at 23:59 MHQ time on Sunday, December 31st.

There are three badges that can be earned during this special:

Winter Wonderland – Capture at least one (1) Snowflake icon.

Christmas in the Sun – Capture at least one (1) Sun icon.

Wacky Weather Christmas – Cap at least one (1) Snowflake icon and at least one (1) Sun icon.

These icons are attracted by Magnets, you CAN capture these icons on your own munzees, and these will count toward the Special Hunters badge line.

December Flat Schedules

December is nearly upon us, so it’s time to announce the schedules for Flat Robs and Flat Matts!

Flat Robs

Rob can’t attend every event in person, so he’s sending his flat counterpart out. Flat Robs will be on the map ALL MONTH! That’s right! From December 1st at 00:01 MHQ time through December 31st at 23:59 MHQ time, Flat Robs will be on the map.

Flat Matts

Flat Matt will be keeping up his normal routine for the month, so the schedule is as follows:

December 2nd from 00:01 through 23:59 MHQ time
December 4th at 00:01 MHQ time through December 5th at 23:59 MHQ time
December 9th from 00:01 through 23:59 MHQ time
December 12th from 00:01 through 23:59 MHQ time
December 18th at 00:01 MHQ time through December 21st at 23:59 MHQ time
December 22nd at 12:01 MHQ time through December 31st at 23:59 MHQ time

Chill out with the Ice Dragon!

We’re excited to announce that The Rainbow Unicorn and Gnome Leprechaun have a new friend- The Ice Dragon! This new AlternaMyth may be a bit cold on first greeting, but he’s sure to warm up to you in no time.

As with the other AlternaMyths these Mythological Munzees are deployed on behalf of our HQ staff’s accounts, thus super rare. You’ll get 200 points for capping the Ice Dragon. Owners of the host munzee will also earn double the points of normal Dragons.

Similar to normal Dragons, this icy fellow is still a fiery force to be reckoned with and bounces to Greenies and Fire Mystery Munzees every 12 hours, but as the name suggests will also be attracted to Ice Mystery Munzees. You can also pull one of these rare globetrotters closer to you with a Munzee Magnet. Capturing Ice Dragons will count towards the Myth Collector badges too, so don’t get cold feet!

To celebrate the new AlternaMyth some Authorized Munzee Resellers will be offering discounts on Fire and Ice Mystery Munzees, so be sure to check out their individual stores!

November MunzPaks

Hey everyone!

Last month, we implemented some changes in the Physical MunzPak, including only sending physical stickers and arranging the stickers so that were all on one sheet. We had a great response from those of you who subscribed, so we’ve carried those things over to the November Physical MunzPak.

This month’s Physical MunzPak includes the following:

5 Aquamarine Munzees
3 Topaz Munzees
2 Diamond Munzees

These munzees will once again come on one sheet. This sheet will be structured as follows:

Diabetes Awareness Charity Special

Rob and Matt mentioned on the latest podcast that a new charity special was on the way, and we’re happy to announce that it is here! Starting now, you can purchase and deploy the Diabetes Awareness Charity Special.

Diabetes awareness is a very important cause that is near and dear to many of our hearts. From family members to friends, many, if not all, of us know someone who has been affected by diabetes. From MunzFit events to the Tour de Cure to this charity special, we’ve planned this Fall to focus on health and diabetes awareness and research.

Money raised from the Diabetes Awareness Charity Special will be donated to the American Diabetes Association through the Tour de Cure. The remainder of the money will be donated to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). The IDF is an umbrella organization that consists of over 200 diabetes associations in 170 countries to help those living with diabetes and those at risk. This charity special also coincides with World Diabetes Day (November 14th), the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign.

The Diabetes Awareness Charity Special will be on the map from Monday, October 16th at 15:00 MHQ time (now) through Sunday, November 19th at 23:59 MHQ time. Specials can be purchased in the Munzee Online Store through October 31st at 23:59 MHQ time These are available for $2.00 each, and there is a limit of 50 per username. You can find them here. These are temporary and will be archived at the end of this special campaign, similar to previous charity campaign specials in the past.

These are temporary virtual munzees that can be placed anywhere via Quick Deploy, and there is a Diabetes Awareness filter in the app under “Virtual” (make sure to turn it on). They have a 300ft capture radius and are blastable as well. These charity specials do follow proximity rules with all other types (excluding Flats). On November 19th at 23:59 they will be archived and removed from the map so plan and deploy early.

You can also earn the Diabetes Awareness Special badge for capturing or deploying 1 Diabetes Awareness Special.

Introducing the Freezer Burn badge!

We’re proud to announce a new challenge for our players: The Freezer Burn badge! You can earn this new badge by getting burned and frozen in the same day when capping the Fire and Ice Elemental Munzees.

The Freezer Burn badge is now live to earn, but it is not retroactive so you’ll need to prepare for some fresh burns and frostbite. We know this is no easy feat, so work with your fellow players and deploy Fire and Ice Munzees to better each others’ chances!

You can purchase an Elemental Munzee Pak in the Munzee online store, or buy individual elementals through authorized Munzee Resellers. Resellers will also have Ice Mystery Munzees on sale for 10% off.

Suffering from a brain freeze? Here’s a refresher on how each elemental effect works:

Fire Mystery Munzees

When you capture a Fire Mystery three Fires will then scatter to greenies within 1 mile. When you capture one of these Fires there is a chance you’ll extinguish the flame and earn 50 points. Unfortunately there’s also a chance you’ll get burned and LOSE 5 points. On the bright side you can earn badges for getting burned though!

Ice Mystery Munzees

Similar to the Fire, when you capture an Ice Mystery three Freezes will then scatter to greenies within 1 mile. Luckily you won’t lose any points for capturing a Freeze. Unfortunately there is also a chance you’ll be frozen and unable to play the game for one minute. Surviving the Ice Age might be worth it though because you can also earn some cool badges for getting frozen!
