Prepare Your Appetites for Japan Global Grub

こんにちは! We hope you’re hungry, because there is a piping hot bowl of ramen on the horizon for some lucky players. That’s right, Japan Global Grub will be joining the map today at 15:00 MHQ time!

Joining the likes of Greece, France, Switzerland, Australia, and China, our latest Global Grub item will be a virtual munzee. Three Japan Global Grub munzees will be deployed. They will bounce to regular virtuals and colored virtuals every 12 hours or when captured.

When a Global Grub munzee is captured, the player will earn a badge containing a dish of food that is unique to the flag pin country. Capturing the Japan Global Grub will earn you the following tasty badge:

Ramen is more than just the favorite meal of broke college students. This traditional noodle dish was introduced to Japan hundreds of years ago, and its popularity hasn’t wavered since. If you’ve had a proper bowl of ramen noodles, then you’ll understand why. Hearty, delicious, and filling, it really makes for the perfect comfort meal!

All Global Grub specials are very rare, so congratulations if you’ve been able to cap any so far! As a reminder, all Global Grub specials will be bouncing around the world for the rest of the year before leaving the map on 12/31/2019 at 23:59 MHQ time. We’ll also be putting out an overall capture line in the future, so stay tuned for more exciting Global Grub updates!

April Resolutions Badge Details Have Arrived!

Can you believe we’ve already completed a quarter of 2019? Our monthly Capture Streak Badges centered around a year of personal improvement have already brought us the resolution to eat healthy (January), make new friends (February), and explore new hobbies (March). This month we’re happy to introduce getting organized as out April Resolution!

Each month’s badge is dedicated to accomplishing a different New Year’s Resolution. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. Remember that each month is the chance to put your best foot forward, so if you’re new to the game or accidentally missed a day, there’s no time like the present to get started on your streaks!

Organize Your Life

Have you heard of the term “spring cleaning?” Even if you’re currently enjoying fall on the Southern Hemisphere, it can benefit your life greatly to join us folks on the Northern Hemisphere and get your life cleaned out and organized this spring.

Did you know that there are health benefits to being organized? Organization is linked to an increased boost in energy. Shake the midday slump with a quick desk organization. Having your personal and digital space in order can lead to a burst in energy. Organization can also lead to better eating habits! That’s right, organizational skills are linked to healthier eating. They can even potentially lower heart attack risks by getting people off their feet and moving!

Organization can also improve sleep habits, which are a critical component of overall health. Clutter can lead to an increase in stress which disrupts sleep time and quality. Give yourself the peace of minded needed to recharge and reboot by having your personal effects in order. Overall, organization is linked to a reduction in stress and an increase in happiness. So don’t forget to use your filters to organize everyone’s favorite game!

Urban Fit Munzees Gear Up to Race onto the Map!

The great sneaker vs. tennis shoe terminology debate on social media, may have seemed a bit random, but you should know better! No, that wasn’t just MHQ having fun. When it comes to this multi-layered game, there’s always an agenda, so we’re happy to announce that the new Urban Fit Munzees will be ready to race this afternoon!

Urban Fit

This new type of munzee will go on sale this afternoon (March 28) at 15:00 MHQ time. The Freeze Tag Online Store will be selling physical credits, but authorized Resellers will also have a sticker version available for purchase. The credits will normally be priced at 5 for $5, but for today only they’re on sale for 5 for $4.50. Resellers will be selling packs of 10 stickers for $5, but stock will be limited so make sure you follow them on social media to know when they go live. Our store link will be live at 15:00.

Deploy proximity will be 150 feet from all other Fit Munzees, all other normal proximity rules apply.

As an additional bonus, all Premium Accounts have been gifted with two courtesy Urban Fit credits at the time of launch. Clan members might want to hold off on deploying those just yet though…

Running Rewards COMING SOON

Need a BOOST to get moving? The Urban Fit munzee comes with a special feature that you can unlock very soon!

When 15 Urban Fitness Munzees are capped and/or deployed during an MHQ 24-hour day, the player will earn a 2x Physical Deploy Booster Credit*.

Remember our Pouch Creature friend the white ghost Hadavale? The Booster Credit will operate in a similar way; when activated you will become “positively charged” and receive double points on all physical Deploys for the next 120 minutes. This is for ALL types of physical munzees, for an entire two hours! There’s one BIG differences though!

While capping Hadavale starts the two hours immediately, with a Booster Credit you can decide when you want it to begin. Players will be able to earn more than one Booster Credit a day each time they cap/deploy 15 Urban Fitness Munzees.

Please note that this booster credit will not be able to be used at the moment, but it will be stored and available for use in an upcoming app update. Again, you will still be able to earn these Booster Credits when capping/deploying Urban Fits TODAY, but you will not be able to use them just yet. You can see when you earn the credits in the usual location. We thank you for your patience, we promise this particular update is sure to be a great FIT.

If Booster Credits aren’t enough to get your heart racing, we also have two new lines of Urban Fit badges for capturing and deploying these new munzees. We won’t show you all of them just yet, but here are the first two you can start earning TODAY (after 3pm)!

March GOTM Winners Revealed!

Our Garden of the Month nominations have been steadily streaming in since we announced the start of the program earlier this year, as our February GOTM nominations allowed us to award two more players for their Virtual Garden organizing skills. The GOTM recognition is meant to honor a number of our exceptional Virtual Garden builders who have aided in creating some of our favorite gardens in the game. Winning organizers, as well as all players who deployed in the winning gardens, will receive a special GOTM badge.

This month, we’re happy to award the QR Code Map, organized by c-bn, and the Huntfield Heights Dog Park Garden, organized by WiseOldWizard, as our Gardens of the Month March winners! The March GOTM gardens appear as follows:

Rules and Regulations

Do you know a garden deserving of the title of April GOTM? We’re asking for players to submit already created gardens for the chance to win any of our upcoming Garden(s) of the Month! Just be sure to follow the rules!

Rules for GOTM nominations:

Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

E-mail us at iloveyou@munzee.com to nominate yourself or another qualified player for GOTM! We take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

More March Players of the Month Awarded!

We’ve seen many of you posting about your new POTM badges, and we’re happy to announce the addition of a number of names to the March POTM list!

This month we rewarded players based on hksfarm’s Monthly Munzee Giveaway video contest! In preparation for our April fitness initiative, the theme for March’s contest was videoing a Munzee at a fitness club or gym in order to encourage staying active. All creative video submissions sent in by March 15 at 23:59 MHQ time were taken into consideration for March POTM.

Though March POTM has concluded, the monthly video contest will continue until the end of the month if you’d like to submit your video for the chance to win hksfarm’s giveaway! Just be sure to stop by the Facebook page and read about video terms and guidelines. Scroll to the end of the blog to view our additional March POTM winners, as well as their winning video submissions!

Get Ready to Feast with Greece Global Grub!

We hope you’re ready for a treat, because our fifth Global Grub special officially joined the map today at 15:00 MHQ time. Our Greece Global Grub Munzees will be joining Switzerland, Australia, China, and France as the latest addition to everyone’s favorite virtual dining.

You’re in for an extra treat, because we will be deploying THREE physical Greece Global Grub Munzees this time around. They will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. You can cap Global Grub on your own Munzees.

Introducing the Banshee Mythological Munzee!

What’s all that wailing about?! Cover your ears, because our latest Mythological Munzee is shrieking her way into the game!

Beware the Banshee

The Banshee Munzee is based on the wailing widow of Irish Folklore and will be available for purchase on March 15 at 10:00 MHQ time. Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! You can find the Banshee Munzee bouncing around on Greenies, Shamrocks, Black Virtuals, and Air Mystery Munzees every 12 hours or when captured.

Each Banshee Munzee is numbered and will be owned by a player. You can pick yours up for a limited time from the Freeze Tag Online Store for $15! Just be sure to set your reminders for 10:00 MHQ time tomorrow to snag one before they sell out!

The sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership. Only ONE (1) Banshee Munzee is allowed per account. (But don’t worry, this wailing widow won’t let you leave her!)

At a more affordable price point, the Banshee will work a bit differently than other Myths that have recently been released. The Banshee Munzee will NOT include the ability to nudge or rename. However, you will be able to use a Bouncer Upgrade Credit to give her nudge and renaming abilities. Upgrading your Banshee will give it the ability to land on Green Virtual Munzees. This new upgrade feature will make it more likely to capture, with 10 additional colored virtual landing pads. You can find the full list of what it bounces to below.

The upgrade credit will also give you the ability to “nudge” your Banshee Munzee to a new munzee up to three times a day, following the MHQ 24-hour day, after it has been on its host Munzee for at least three hours. This nudging ability is only available for the owner via the munzee’s webpage and is not available in the app.

Your munzee will still retain its unique number, but feel free get creative when it comes to renaming your Banshee Munzee! (Know any wailing women in your life you want to immortalize?) Just be sure to follow the Player Code of Conduct, and remember Munzee maintains a family-friendly environment.

Saint Patrick’s Day Specials Details Have Arrived!

What do you get when you cross some poison ivy with a four-leaf clover? A rash of good luck! And what do you get on Saint Patrick’s Day from MHQ? TWO holiday specials going live at 00:01 MHQ time on March 14! We told you this Saint Patrick’s Day was going to be filled with good fortune!

Our sister app WallaBee has been feeling pretty lucky about their upcoming new app update, so they decided to share some artwork with us to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with double the fun!

That’s right, you’ll be treated to both physical and virtual holiday specials, because we decided you don’t need to be Irish to be lucky this Saint Patrick’s Day! Both specials will launch on Thursday, March 14 at 00:01 MHQ time and last for the remainder of the month, concluding on Sunday, March 31 at 23:59 MHQ time.

Ice Mystery DOUBLE Points Days and New Update!

Spring is on the way! Or at least it is over here at MHQ. (You’ll just have to play along if you’re still experiencing the Polar Vortex or if you’re Down Under.) To fully prepare, help us melt the ice with our Ice Mystery Munzee double points days announcement!

From March 20 at 00:01 MHQ time through March 24 at 23:59 MHQ time, all points for any activity on Ice Mystery munzees will be double! And this isn’t the only good news…

Ice Mystery Updates

These double points are arriving at an optimal time, since we have also decided to make some adjustments to our current Ice Mystery system. When captured, the Ice Mystery “freezes” three greenies within 2,500 feet. These will stay frozen for two hours or until capped, whichever comes first.

Capping these frozen greenies will soon result in one of two updated outcomes:

There is a chance that you “thaw” the frozen greenie. If you do, you earn 50 Capture points and the owner of the host greenie earns 10 CapOn points. This outcome remains the same as it previously was.
The other outcome delivers a double update! If you get frozen, your screen will turn blue, and you cannot play for 30 seconds, instead of the previous 1 minute ban. In addition, you will now earn 100 points for being frozen! Turns out a little frostbite is not so bad after all!

These updates are effective beginning March 20 at 00:01 MHQ time.

We have a very limited supply of Ice Mystery Munzees in the Freeze Tag Online Store, available for $10 for FIVE Ice Mystery Munzees. Fortunately you can also pick them up from resellers too, so stock up before March 20th to make the most of your ICE days!

Points

If you need a little refresher, Deploying an Ice Mystery Munzee earns 50 points, while Capture/CapOn is a sum of 60 by multiples of 5 with a minimum of 10 points. For example, if Capture = 45 points, CapOn = 15 points.

Remember that the double points will run in conjunction with the newly updated points system! This means that all Ice Mystery Munzees AND frozen greenies capped or deployed from March 20 through March 24 will be worth double points at our new point values. It might prove highly beneficial to get a little frosty, so don’t fear the cold!

Existing badges will continue to be awarded for Capture, Deploy, and Being Frozen. There are a total of nine badges you can earn. The first in each category appears as follows:

Feb Badges and March POTM Requirements are Ready to Roll!

Did you spot a new badge earned this week? Our February POTM criteria rewarded over 1,500 players who have captured and/or deployed daily for over a year. A big thanks to all of you for helping us grow the map! You truly are super beasts!

Now that February has concluded, it’s time to move on to our March POTM requirements. Some of you may have already figured out this month’s theme based off our social media posting, but for those of you unaware, March POTM will be selected based off of hksfarm’s Monthly Munzee Giveaway video contest! Our good friend (and super Munzee Support specialist) Daniel Hammock will be rewarding select players this month based off of creativity in his video contest.

Although some winners of the monthly contest are selected at random, others are personally selected by Hammock based on creativity. The creative winners will win the title of POTM in March and the subsequent POTM badge. A number of players have already received the title of March POTM due to Hammock’s selection for February videos. February’s theme was Munzee Love, so we’re showing those winners some love and awarding their badges today! Our winners thus far, as well as their videos, are listed at the end of the article!

The theme for March’s video contest will be videoing a Munzee at a fitness club or gym. How will you show off your creative cardio? The creative portion of the video contest will have open submission up until March 15 at midnight MHQ time, after which Hammock will be choose the final winners for POTM. The monthly contest will continue until the last day of the month if you’d like to still submit your video for the chance to win his giveaway. Just be sure to have your creative video in by 3/15 at 11:59 pm MHQ time to be eligible for March POTM! Don’t forget to stop by the hksfarm’s Facebook page to read about video terms and guidelines.

Remember that anyone who earned the Player Of The Week badge previously IS able to earn the Player Of The Month badge as well! The criteria for Player Of The Month changes, so even if March isn’t your month, there’s always April! Some months will require player nominations, while other months the winners will be chosen based off of stats or other factors.

Now stop sitting around— it’s time to hit the gym and get started on your video submission!
