These 20/20 Vision Munzees Are a Reminder of Our Hope for a Kinder World

Happy International Day of Peace!

World peace may seem like a cliché thing to wish for — it is on the lips of practically every beauty pageant contestant and equally at home on the page of many a luminary’s interview. But in today’s world, a world in which we have not only a global pandemic to contend with, but violent conflicts, we can’t deny that the world would be a much better place if we had it. To that end, we wanted to highlight this important day with these statement shades, which were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. What are some simple steps we can take towards world peace?

Only nine Peace Glasses will be deployed, and they will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Physical Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

Today we celebrate the International Day of Peace, which was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. This year’s theme is “Shaping Peace Together.” To survive this time of hardship, we should work together instead of letting fear divide us. In the UN’s words:

Celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. Stand together with the UN against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred. Join us so that we can shape peace together.

We know our player community is full of people who follow the above guidelines as written by the UN every day, not just on the International Day of Peace, but we hope the officiality of the day only strengthens your resolve!

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique 20/20 Vision specials will launch throughout the year so keep on the lookout — you won’t want to miss out on these bouncing bifocals!

Bash from the Past! Details

As we revealed last Friday, this year’s MHQ Bash theme is Bash From The Past! Like the Social DistanZEEing and Global QRantine events earlier this year, we wanted everyone to be able to participate in this Munzee event from anywhere in the world! However, we’re changing up the format a bit to make this event even more special, so please read the details below carefully!

Bash Specials

To really give the feeling of traveling back to past bashes, we are re-releasing past bash specials! These are totally new pins with the current pin frame style, but featuring the art from past Bash icons. This means they will count as separate captures — so if you captured these pins during their original run those will remain in your Achievements in all their vintage Munzee glory, alongside these new-style pins! The first day’s special is now on the map, but you’ll have to stay tuned each day to see what the newest special is!

Oktoberfest Bash – Beer Boot

A new special will go live on each day this week at different times. There will be 7 specials released. Since there have only been 6 Bashes so far, what will be the 7th day icon? Well you’ll have to wait to see! All 7 specials will remain on the map until October 11 at 23:59 MHQ time. Depending on the special’s type, it will either bounce to Greenies, Mysteries, Elementals, or Virtuals every 6 hours or when captured, and be attracted to the corresponding Magnets.

A different number of bouncers will be released initially for each icon, but will increase each day to a total of 200 for each. This means we’ll start off with 140 Oktoberfest Bash – Beer Boots today, then 10 more will be added the next day, and the next day, and so on, until it reaches 200 total on September 27. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Additionally, there will be 7 badges to earn based on number of captures of Bash from the Past! specials. But just how many captures it takes to earn all 7 badges will be kept a secret! However, we will reveal the first badge in the line, which appears as follows:

Eventzee Hunt

As you may know, Eventzee has recently undergone a makeover! While we do have a Demo Event anybody can check out for free, we thought this would be a great opportunity to show everyone a more personalized event!

There are some challenges you can complete right away, and some that will be released daily in groups to further immerse you in each day’s theme. We’ll be awarding prizes to the top finishers, so make sure to submit your best photos, videos, and text to rise to the top! This event will be available until September 30 at 23:59 MHQ time. Per usual no screenshots will be accepted unless the clues ask for it. Get even more details over at the Eventzee Blog!

Just in time for Munzee Mania, a NEW Iconic Location Has Arrived!

If you’ll be attending Munzee Mania, we hope you take the opportunity to capture these freshly-deployed pins! Like our New Hampshire and New Mexico Iconic Locations, this new munzee will join the ranks of our Tourism Munzees! You can now locate the Minnesota Iconic Location Munzees by turning on your Tourism filter!

Minnesota Iconic Location

This new Iconic Location will join the map today at 10:00 MHQ time to offer more opportunity for exploration! All Iconic Location Munzees are deployed by an MHQ account based on a database of historical markers in order to encourage players to get out and about and navigate new terrains. The points for this virtual munzee will be as follows:

Capture Points: 18-58
Deploy Points: 0
CapOn Points: 0 (Because it’s an MHQ account)

Like the other Iconic and Historical Location Munzees, the Minnesota Iconic Locations will not be blastable. Additionally, captures will count towards the overall Tourism line of badges. Tourism badges are linked primarily to the Historic and Iconic Munzees from different countries around the world, as well as states in the U.S.

These latest Iconic Locations couldn’t have been made possible without the help of players! Thanks to the players loeschfamily and Ubbs for helping us gather a database of historical markers in order to make this launch possible!

Stay Sharp with Safiir!

Did you figure out the answer to yesterday’s teaser? The answer is Sapphires! The third generation of the Pokémon games includes a Sapphire version; the famous engagement ring Napoleon gifted to his wife Josephine features a pear-shaped sapphire; and in-counter barcode scanners, like those you commonly find at the grocery store, have panels made of sapphire to make them scratch-resistant. Like the past stones, this startlingly blue beauty was borrowed from our sister app WallaBee! Joining the other Funfinity Stones, please welcome the Safiir!

These Player Owned Bouncers (POB) resemble the Jewel Munzees, which they also bounce to! The Safiir is available NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Be sure to shop fast, because these Funfinity Stones will leave the store at 15:00 MHQ on Wednesday, September 16! Like the other Funfinity Stones, players can purchase a Safiir for $10. No upgrade ability is available. Topaas and Oniks will also be available during this time. You can shop the whole collection HERE!

Safiir Details

Safiir joins the current line of Pouch Creatures as a virtual munzee that will bounce to all Virtual Colors, Air Mystery, Sapphire, and Skyland Munzees every 6 hours or when capped.

It will have the same point values as the other Funfinity Stones:

Deploy: 250
Capture: 200 Points
CapOn: 250 Points
CapOn (Host Owner): 200 points

Safiir will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Safiir on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Safiir visits you. It will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on all 4 of its landing pads. You can access Safiir under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

Get In Shape Like A Schoolkid With September 2020’s Resolution!

September is the typical back-to-school month for most kids in the US — after a month or three of summer vacation, you are forced to be whipped back into shape. Your gym or P.E. teacher may start off slow, but you can bet things will be ramping up as the weeks go by to prepare you for the yearly fitness tests!

As we announced in our January Resolutions blog, we will be launching monthly Capture Streak Badges centered on a year of being active. Each month’s badge will be dedicated to practicing a different exercise. Similar to how our Super Streak badges operate, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. This month’s badge may be tricky to get, but we believe in you!

Each month’s badge will be themed around the particular resolution goal. For September, we’re heading back to basics with sit-ups! Once believed to be the key to getting a flat-stomach or 6-pack, current fitness knowledge has come to the consensus that sit-ups will not help you make significant progress towards either of those goals — rather, diet for the former and core exercises for the latter — but it’s still a good basic ab workout. It’s definitely one that all schoolkids are forced to endure, and whether you were a pro as a kid or struggled to work those muscles, it’s a good exercise to revisit. If you notice your sit-ups aren’t as good as they used to be, slowly increase your repetitions until they are — then, continue that rep count to maintain your strength, or keep increasing to surpass your younger self!

How can I make sure I’m doing sit-ups properly?

It’s not too difficult to get into the right position — everybody knows that they need to start lying on the ground with their knees bent and feet planted. Arms can be straight out like the badge image above, cradling your head, or crossed on your torso, so that you won’t be using them to push off the ground. The main thing to watch out for, according to PureGym.com, is that you should not rely on momentum to lift you either, as your abs won’t get any exercise. This means that you should do sit-ups at a slow, even pace — not like those minute tests you had to do in gym class! If you have a hard time keeping your feet planted you can ask a buddy to hold them in place, or just wedge your feet under the sofa. Just make sure not to use your leg muscles too much now that your feet are being held down!

Before you attempt any exercise, it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor**. Good luck and Munzee on!

September 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost September! You’ll find all the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. Two important pieces of information first: #1 New types will be added to the QRewZee list on September 3rd. #2 The gaming category now includes the scatter munzee (and it’s scatters!)

It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to September 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19.
