I’m delighted to let you all know that a Munzee event hosted by rubik80 and spysmurf in Australia last week hit over 300 attendees! All attendees are being awarded this brand new badge:

There is also a new host badge for hosts hitting over 300 attendees.

Don’t forget there are also host badges for every 5 times you host. My current champion on that is Primdahl who has hosted over 50 times!

MH-BOO Bash Locations!

We’re excited to tentatively* announce event locations for our MH-BOO Bash weekend! We’re still in the planning phases for the particular activities at each event, but we wanted to make sure everyone could start deploying in the areas ahead of time! Event pin indicators will be added soon when exact locations can be finalized.

Remember that in order to guarantee availability of all items in packages, online registration will close on September 17, 2018 at 15:00 MHQ time. Packages will be available for purchase at the event, but we cannot guarantee all items will be available.

Please purchase only one package per person who will be attending. Everyone must have at least the free package. If you have a joint account, please purchase a package for each person (they do not have to be the same type of package). Remember, even if you can’t make it to MH-BOO Bash you can deploy Virtual Munzees at the event locations. It’s still a bit early for the temporary virtuals but we will give you a reminder when that time approaches.

We can’t wait to see everyone for a scary good time!

Birthday Events Wrap Up!

Wow, thank you all for keeping me on my toes in July – if I wasn’t cycling up mountains I was busy working on all your events!

There were 77 birthday events across the world and the event indicator pins of those events were captured a total of 2963 times!

We gave away 3,108 new Emeralds that were deployed in new gardens all over the world.

I hope you enjoyed the events, I saw some really great artwork going out and was jealous of some of those cool badges! Thank you as always to Trish, I’m constantly amazed at the standard of her art and creativity!

MH-BOO Bash Packages!

Prepare for a scary good time! The 5th Annual MHQ Bash will be held Friday, October 26th through Sunday, October 28th, 2018. Since we’re so close to Halloween, it only makes sense that this year’s theme would be MH-BOO Bash!

We’re keeping it simple this year with two packages:

More information regarding event schedules will be released soon, but the format will be similar to previous years. There will be events during registration Friday evening, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon (WallaBash), Saturday evening, and a Sunday morning. There will be a wide variety of specials and badges to earn at each event, not to mention all of the munzees to capture in the McKinney area!

California Historic Location Munzees!

Hot on the trail of the release of the Florida Historic Munzees, we’re proud to announce that we have expanded that line to the golden state of California! Just in time for our FTHQ Birthday event, we’re excited for our great community of California players as well as any travelers that make it to the West Coast.

The CA Historical Location Munzees are deployed by an MHQ account throughout the state based on a database of historical markers. When captured, players will earn between 18 and 50 points. These virtual munzees are not blastable, so you’ll have to get out and learn a bit more about the golden state! If you notice any that are deployed in the wrong location please contact support with the name/URL of the munzee and correct information.

The CA Historic Location Munzees will hit the map at 00:01 MHQ Friday 7/20. You’ll be able to earn a new set of five badges for capturing CA Historical Location Munzees.

We plan to continue to expand this line of munzees into more states and different countries as well in the coming months. We are actively planning a worldwide line right now!

Virtual Sale and Deploy Contest!

With our Birthday month more than halfway complete, we want to give you more gifts! In our minds the best way is to have a contest to Grow the Map in a few unique areas! Two of the areas have events taking place in the next 13 days, and the third is our California HQ (Freeze Tag Inc).

On Friday July 20 at 15:00 MHQ time members of our staff will randomly select 48 virtual munzees from the following three areas (16 from each map)*. The deployer of the selected munzees will receive a $10 gift card to use in the Freeze Tag store for any purchase**!

Any previously deployed virtual munzees in these locations ARE eligible to win. Two of the locations are also home to emerald gardens currently for sale in the store, and ARE eligible to win! Double Points and 14% Off Sale!

I guess this is why you shouldn’t gamble, huh?

Well our Global Goblet predictions didn’t exactly pan out, so unfortunately we won’t be celebrating with double points on virtuals. Lucky for you all though, we love a good third place match as well! Since England is playing in the 3rd place match we’ve made three items worth double points TOMORROW!

From 00:01 through 23:59 on July 14th there will be double points for all activity on Crossbows, Temporary Virtuals, and Water Mysteries.

Clown Car Birthday Specials

Welcome to Cirque Du Munz! Our Circus themed seventh birthday celebration is about to get a bit sillier. We’re happy to announce that Clown Car birthday specials will be rolling into a town near you!

Starting on July 6 at 00:01 MHQ 2,011 bouncing Clown Car icons will hit the map.  These colorful coupes will bounce on greenies every 6 hours or when capped. What’s a clown car without clowns though? Once a Clown Car special is captured, between one and three different clown icons will scatter on greenies within 1 mile for two hours. Since this is Munzee’s Birthday month all of these specials will last until July 31 at 23:59.

POINTS:

Clown Car
Capture – 77; CapOn – 11

Clown Scatter
Capture – 37; CapOn – 11

There just might be a badge or two for capturing Clown Car specials and the different Clown scatters. Since these will be on the map for the remainder of the month you might want to capture as many as you can. You never know what you might earn!

Clown Car specials will be attracted to Munzee Magnets so be sure to stock up on those in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

You CAN capture these specials on your own greenies and these will count toward the Specials Hunter badges as well.

July Birthday Reminders

July is our 7th birthday month! This post is FULL of reminders and links so you can make the most of our birthday!

Our Flat Friends:

  • Flat Matt, Flat Rob, & Flat Lou will be on the map ALL month
  • Flat Matt & Flat Rob will be worth double points from 00:01 July 1 through 23:59 July 3
  • Flat Lou will be worth double points from 00:01 July 8 through 23:59 July 8 (just one day) as Louise races through the French Alps in L’Etape du Tour, an official stage of the Tour de France, several days in advance of the professional riders
  • Flat Lou & Flat Rob (Rob just added) will be worth double points from 00:01 July 29 through 23:59 July 29 (just one day) as they both participate in the Prudential Ride London 100 mile Bike Race

Clan Wars start July 3 at 00:01 — if you would like to join a clan for the first time or want to find a new clan you can use our Clan Randomizer button but it is only available from 00:01 July 1 through 23:59 July 2 so act fast!

The Global Goblet 😉 football tournament continues through the first half of the month. Our original favorite team, Germany, has already been eliminated. While our developer Daniel is sad, he’s happy to go ahead and program some other options to support our worldwide team. Guilherme is based in Portugal and we have Louise and Andy based in England. Rather than choosing one team, like we unwisely did the first time, we’ve chosen to support both. If both teams continue to advance the results will be cumulative on the given days.

Here’s what you can expect based on each countries path:

England has advanced to the Semifinals! 

  • If England advance to Quarterfinal quadruple points on greenies July 6 & 7
  • If England advance to Semifinal double points on ALL jewels July 10 & 11
  • If England advance to Final double points on ALL virtual munzees July 15

Portugal – Unfortunately Portugal has been eliminated.

  • If Portugal advance to Quarterfinal double points on RUMs July 6 & 7
  • If Portugal advance to Semifinal double points on ALL clan weapons July 10 & 11
  • If Portugal advance to Final double points on ALL physical munzees July 15

ALL ACTIVITY WILL BE IMPACTED, this means captures, deploys AND cap ons.
ALL TIMES ARE MHQ 00:01 – 23:59

Worldwide Birthday Events begin July 1. Please check the calendar to see if any are taking place near you! There is still time to add an event to the calendar later in the month if you’d like, but the time for custom artwork has passed. We hope you are able to join your local community and celebrate our birthday with us! Maybe even join our team here in Texas at MHQ, in California at FTHQ, or Matt and Daniel in Germany. We hope your events are more fun than a clown car filled to the roof with clowns.
