It’s Beginning to Feel A Lot Like Christmas…Kind Of

It’s December, and we’re getting into the Christmas spirit here at MHQ. We’ve got a slight problem, though. We’ve got two Christmas trees with no ornaments, and we need your help! If you’d like to participate, download this ornament template, fill it in with your design, and email it back to us! We’ll print them out, and on December 21st, we’ll show off our decorated trees!

Please email your completed designs you iloveyou@munzee.com with the subject “Christmas Tree Ornaments” so we can keep track of them all!

The Christmas Parties Are Beginning!

So here we are, it’s December! The Munzee Christmas Parties start tomorrow. We are very excited about everything planned. What a fantastic Munzee Community we have. There are 24 events just in the next 7 days! Don’t forget to check the calendar at https://calendar.munzee.com/ to see if there is one near you! If there isn’t, don’t worry, it’s not too late to host one yourself. Add it to the calendar or contact me directly at louise@munzee.com if you are having difficulties.

I have some important information relating to some of the features of the Christmas Parties, these two points are for all attendees to all parties:

Be sure to capture the Event Indicator Munzee at the event you attend. Your host has the code. This not only gives you the Event Indicator special icon, it will also give you the Christmas Party Attendee badge and a little surprise from Father Christmas.
Be sure to wear your best festive gear if you would like a chance at winning the Dodgy Jumper competition. Hosts will be submitting a player name and photo after the event. That player and the hosts will get the Dodgy Jumper badge. Hosts: just because you will be getting the badge for nominating someone else doesn’t mean you don’t have to make an effort!

Most events have taken the Lucky Dip option. This is a $20 add on that turns a specified Munzee into a magic Munzee that gives a credit item from the past, present or future every time it is capped. If you would like to add this to your event, please let me know ASAP.

Lastly, I would like to thank you all for your support with events. Your enthusiasm and efforts involved in them as hosts and attendees is fantastic and I look forward to growing the game, the map and the community even more with you all. Have a wonderful time this month and I can’t wait to hear all about it and see all those dodgy pictures!!

Cyber Munzday Sale

Hello everyone and thank you for the patience over the past week.
Here is the final information about our sale, to begin at 3pm CST.

EDIT: Virtual Trail Deploy Stage One: Change location of Stage One BEFORE converting to virtual trail.

Surprise Munzee: Previously marketed as the MVM replacement, it is now clear from player feedback it will not fit that mold. This munzee is not able to be blast captured. All surprise munzees have been returned to your undeployed list, even if they had captures. There is a good reason, we want everyone to have a chance to deploy where it is able to be captured. The capture attributes are within 300 feet of the munzee, just as a normal virtual or MVM, excluding blast. We wanted to give all premium members a chance to start fresh with this information in mind when choosing a deployment location. The Surprise Munzee will be offered for sale at $3.50 instead of regular $6.00.

Store Description for Surprise munzee: The Surprise Munzee is the newest in a line of virtual munzees. When captured, it will randomly award the points of a munzee from this list of predetermined Munzees:

Cap/CapOn points as of February 2020.
Diamond: 80/25
Ruby: 70/25
Mystery: 60/25
Topaz: 60/25
Motel: 120/40
Hotel: 200/50

Unicorn Munzee: 1000 limited quantity. If you attempt to purchase more than one your account will NOT be credited with the second. This has been coded to stop those who have found work arounds in the past. DO NOT ATTEMPT, no refunds will be processed. The unicorn is priced at $20 and only available in this limited quantity. It will appear along with the nomads and other special icons at www.munzee.com/specials for all players to track and capture. The unicorn is valuable and flies from Munzee to Munzee all over the world similar to the nomad.

Virtual Trail Munzees: In order to fix a miscommunication we have two parts to this announcement.

First, for those who purchased on Friday: we have added a brand new virtual for each of the credits you purchased. We did not fully communicate or price appropriately the intent of the virtual trail munzee. The virtuals have already been added to your undeployed list.

Second, for those who will purchase today and moving forward: the pricing has been updated to reflect the purchase of brand new virtual munzees AND virtual trail credits. One purchase equals 5 credits and 5 virtual munzees.The price for today only is $13 (5 credits for $3 and 5 virtuals for $2 each). The normal retail price is $30.

THANK YOU! We appreciate your understanding over this past holiday weekend. We hope you enjoyed the extra prizes given out for captures. Use them wisely to Grow The Map in your area!

Weekend Update

Hello everyone. This is just a quick update to let you know our plans for Monday. Due to the holidays and the weekend we have not had the chance to confirm all items in time for 10am MHQ sales. We will delay the sales until ~3pm MHQ time which allows most players worldwide a better timing and opportunity. Thank you for understanding as we’ve made several changes over the past several days.
Additional information will be available prior to 3pm tomorrow. The goal is 10-11am for an informational post about Cyber Munzday sales. My current thoughts are sale prices on many current items, the release of the limited edition unicorn munzee (hard programmed to only award 1 per account), and the release of the surprise munzee. Surprise munzee will only be available after more conversations in the morning if it is ready to launch fully. Other items may be included or removed based on our ability to provide the best quality and service.
Thanks again for your patience and I hope you enjoyed the prizes the past few days. We are thankful for everyone who plays Munzee. The prizes end at 10am MHQ time Monday. — Rob

Updates and Changes

This information supersedes all previous blog posts and information. First, my apologies in advance for lack of detail and information regarding the virtual trail credits released in the store today. This product is removed from the store and on hold until Monday. We will provide more information before that time. For those who purchased the virtual trail credits already they are still in your account. If you use them they are yours. If you would like to exchange/return them after our announcement Monday we will work with each of you. Thank you in advance for understanding.

The rest of the weekend sales have been postponed until we are 100% certain everything goes perfectly. On Monday we will have one sale with many products including the new Surprise Munzee. Please stay tuned for a future blog post with details about the Surprise Munzee and the items/prices for sales.

We, Team Munzee, want to get back to the core of this week and this season. Being Thankful. We are beyond thankful for all of you. You give our servers a workout. You grow the game. You grow the map. Without you there is no game, just a bunch of QR codes waving at passers-by. We’ve given away a few prizes already this week, and thanked premium members with new items and a discount. We CAN do better. SO, we’ve decided to really crank up the prize machine to award more prizes than ever before when you capture munzees (starting NOW). *Social captures are excluded. It will award diamonds, rubies, aquamarines, motels, hotels, and the brand new Virtual Trail credits. This will end Monday morning at 10am MHQ time, when the sale begins.

I would like to assure you, we continue to strive for open communication, perfection in gameplay, and the best game available on the market. We will continue to innovate and build a thriving community. I can’t wait for you to hear our theme for 2016. You will feel the love, as I hope you do today. Cyber Munzweek Sale: Friday

It’s Friday of Cyber Munzweek! Today, Virtual Trails are on sale for the first time! 5 virtual credits for $3, regular priced $5.

Virtual Trails have the same proximity and distance rules as the Green Trail Munzees. The point structure for the first 5 stops is the same, as well. Below is the point structure for each stop (Deploy/Capture/CapOn):

Stops 1 & 2: 5/5/5
Stops 3 & 4: 5/10/10
Stop 5: 5/30/30
Stop 6: 10/30/30
Stops 7 & 8: 10/45/45
Stop 9: 10/60/60
Stop 10: 10/75/75

Each trail must be a minimum of 5 stops and can have a maximum of 10 stops.

Personal Munzees Purchased at MHQ Bash

Hey Everybody,

Late last week, we learned of a problem with the Personal Munzee badges purchased at MHQ Bash (through both ticket package and at the event store). Monday, we learned that the issue was with the badge provider and that they could not be fixed remotely. The bad news is that these Personal Munzee badges are no longer valid. The good news is that we are aware of the problem and will be shipping you new badges.

If You Bought A Ticket Package That Included A Personal Munzee: You’re all set. Your information is on file, and we will be shipping you a new Personal Munzee badge as soon as we can.

If You Bought A Personal Munzee Badge At The Store During MHQ Bash 2015: Please email orders@munzee.com with a picture of your badge. Please include your Munzee username and an address that we can ship your new badge to.

We sincerely apologize for this. We take pride in our work and the services/products we provide, and errors like this are inexcusable.

Holiday Season Plans

Well, the holiday season is upon us. For the MHQ team, that means a lot of travelling. Below is a list of events you should be aware of.

American Thanksgiving

The MHQ staff (including Rob) will be out of the office from Wednesday, November 25th through Sunday, November 29th. That means Flat Robs will be back on the map during those days!

Christmas Parties

The amount of Christmas parties on the schedule is amazing, and we can’t wait to see the results of them! Rob and Matt will be travelling to events during December.
- Rob will be attending “Capping the Coast” during the first weekend of December! If you’re in the Florida area,or just want to have a good time, make sure you join!
- Matt will be attending “Metro Vancouver Post Holiday Cap’ing” on December 27th. It’s the first official Munzee visit to Vancouver, so if you’re in the Pacific Northwest and can make it, he’d love to meet you all!

Christmas and New Year’s Plans

MHQ staff will be out of the office for some days during December to spend time with their families for Christmas and the new year. We’ll provide more details about those dates (and when you’ll be able to catch Flat Rob on the map again) as we get closer.

Cyber Munzweek 2015!

This coming week is filled with holidays and sales days, especially in the US. We’ve decided to celebrate all over the world with Cyber Munzweek and introduce new items as well as thank you, our players, for all of your support. Below is a list of each day and what we will be doing. Unless indicated otherwise, sales/specials will begin at 10am MHQ time that day and will last until 9:59am the following morning.

Monday, November 23rd: Giveaways!
We’re starting the week off with freebies! Credit items will be awarded at random for captures* from 00:01-23:59 MHQ time.

Tuesday, November 24th: MORE Giveaways!
One giveaway day isn’t enough, is it? We don’t think so! We will continue to award credit items for random captures* from 00:01-23:59 MHQ time.

Wednesday, November 25th: Premo Sale!
From 00:01-23:59 MHQ time, premium members get 20% off the Munzee online store (excluding premium memberships and gift certificates).

Thursday, November 26th: ThanksGIVE-ing!
Premium members will receive One (1) Flat Rob and One (1) New Surprise Munzee for free!

Friday, November 27th: New Virt!
All new Virtual Trails will be on sale! A five (5) stop trail will be $3 (regularly $5) and a ten (10) stop trail will be $5 (regularly $10)! Also, we have a very limited number of surplus October MunzPaks that will be available for $20 (that WILL NOT include the virtual items).

Saturday, November 28th: SCATTER!
We’re introducing the Scatter Munzee! These will be on sale for $3 (regularly $5).

Sunday, November 29th: Prizes!
You never know what you’ll get with the Prize Wheel Munzee! They will be on sale for $2 (regularly $5).

Monday, November 30th: SURPRISE?!
When we retired the Mystery Virtual Munzee, we promised something would replace it. Well, here it is! The Surprise Munzee will be on sale for $3 (regularly $5). We’re not stopping there, though. We will be releasing 1000 Limited Edition Unicorn Munzees for $20. Limit 1 per person.

*Socials do not count toward captures for prizes.

Brief Descriptions of New Munzee Types

Surprise Munzee: When captured, it will take on the best point characteristics of a random Munzee from a predetermined list for points (e.g. Full Hotel/Motel, Diamond Ruby, etc)
Virtual Trails: Distance rules are the same as physical Trail Munzees, and the point structure is extended for stops 6-10.
Scatter Munzee: When captured, this munzee will throw out (similar to the ghost pellet specials) 4 special munzees on greenies within a 1 mile radius that can be captured within 2 hours. Anyone can capture these new munzees.
Prize Wheel Munzee: When captured, the player will receive points or rewards randomly based on a predetermined list (e.g. 20-100 points, DIamond +10 points, Hotel + 10 points, etc).
Unicorn Munzee: These munzees behave like nomads, but are owned by players.

Full descriptions of each Munzee will be released on the blog the day they go for sale.

NOTE: We are still accepting submissions for the Make Us A Munzee competition. The munzees we are releasing next week have been in production for quite some time. Though some of the submissions we have received are very similar, the new releases are not reflective of that competition.

Make Us A Munzee

We’re always looking for new ways to innovate and enhance Munzee, and why not ask the people who make the game great? We’re taking suggestions for new types of Munzees to add to the game. Just follow this link and submit your idea! We’ll choose some of the best and put them to a vote. The winner will work with us to create the new Munzee, be given a set amount of them upon release, and be credited for the idea when released and in it’s description on the Types page on the Munzee website, and get a lifetime Premium Membership! Get your ideas in fast, though. Submissions will only be accepted through the end of the month!
