Munzee Game Prize Day Begins!

It’s a busy day at MHQ today, but more on that later. Although Team Munzee will be hard at work making “moves,” it’s still a third day of the birthday month, which means good things for the players! Today we’ll be awarding game prizes to random captures made throughout the day. Although the prizes will be a bit more scarce, by getting out and capping today you have the chance to win:

Premium Membership Packs
$25 Munzee Store Giftcards
$50 Munzee Store Giftcards

The presents will be awarded to random captures after the day ends. So those who cap from 11 AM (MHQ time) Monday July 21st until 11 AM the next day will have a chance to win one of the Munzee prizes. Remember the more you cap the better chance you have at winning, so don’t let a case of the Mondays hurt you chances!

Virtual Munzee Birthday Party

Although we at Team Munzee have had a ton of fun celebrating our third birthday, we’re missing a vital piece of this puzzle: our players. So throughout this weekend we want you all to show us how you celebrate Munzee. From July 18th until Sunday the 20th share your pictures and videos with us on social media. Just add #BirthdayMunzee in your posts and we’ll include your submission in a munzee video/slideshow for everyone to see.

We want everyone across the world in this. Whether you’re eating cake, singing happy birthday or shooting off fireworks we want to see it. And that’s not all, If you share your content on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the correct #BirthdayMunzee you’ll be entered for a chance to win more birthday prizes. Remember it’s only from today until Sunday, so make sure to get your submissions in.

Special Piñata munzees go live TOMORROW!

The soccer balls have faded from the field and our Copa Do Munzo special has come to an end. But what would Birthday month be without a few more surprises? Continuing our #FiestaThree celebration, we are happy to announce that tomorrow our special piñata munzees will take over the maps. What better way to celebrate Munzee’s third birthday than to hit a papier-mâché donkey until it gives you candy?

At 10:00 AM (MHQ) on Tuesday July 15th 3,333 piñata special captures will randomly attach to physical greenies that have already been deployed internationally. Be warned though, these specials will not bounce. We want to make it a bit tougher on our players this time around, so you will really have to get out and about to find these piñatas. Just like in real life, munzee piñatas are about getting as many different kinds of candy as quickly as possible. When you spot a piñata and scan it you will randomly receive one of three types of candy and a corresponding special icon:

The peppermint, which is worth 15 points split between owner and capper.
The licorice drop which is worth 25 points split between owner and capper.
The lollipop which is worth 33 points split between owner and capper.

There are limited quantities of each candy, so some will be harder to get than others. Each piñata will remain in place for three scans and with each scan or “WHACK!” the piñata’s image will degrade so you can see how many caps are still available on the munzee. Individual players will only be able to scan each piñata once though, so no triple caps on one piñata. The piñatas will stay on the map through the end of the month and special Fiesta Third Piñata badge is also awarded by simply capturing one of the specials.

3,333 may not seem like a lot for a game of 165,000 players, especially considering the piñatas will not bounce. Keep your eyes open on the third days of the month though, President Rob might be feeling a bit generous. While you’re waiting to get to the piñata nearest you, you should also stop by the store tomorrow for a new sale item. You might be in for a shining surprise. What exactly is the sale? Well what fun is a surprise party if you know what’s coming?

Make sure to go to Munzee events whenever you get a chance, because you never know what you’ll find out. Check out President Rob leaking some piñata info to the attendees of the Butte Event a few weeks ago.

Announcing the Munzee 3X Point Day!

Munzee’s third birthday has been full of announcements, sales and chances to win free prizes, but now it’s time to get back to the basics. Three years ago Munzee was a small game built upon one goal: capturing greenies. So as you may have heard on the podcast, starting at midnight (MHQ, GMT-5) on Saturday July 12th we will be having a three times point day on all greenies! For 24 hours players who capture and deploy greenies will get three times as many points. This is an exciting opportunity for players to get 5k and 10k badges, level up and help further grow the game.

Throughout the past week there has been some speculation throughout social media though, so allow us to clear it up: CAP-ONS WILL NOT GIVE OWNERS 3X POINTS. I’m sure this will be a shock to many of you, but we want our players out in the field to earn their points just like in Munzee’s early days. The captures and deploys you make on July 12th will get you three times the points, but you will not receive extra points for your greenies that have been scanned.

We want to thank all of you who have supported us for three years and will continue to do so in the future. The game has expanded beyond any of our wildest dreams, but its important to appreciate how far we have come. So get ready for Saturday and hopefully you guys won’t overheat our servers again!

Birthday Sale for Premium Munzee Users

As a thank you for taking their support to the next level Munzee is happy to announce a birthday sale exclusively for premium players. From 9 AM (MHQ time) TODAY until 9 AM (MHQ time) TOMORROW premium players will be able to order a variety of discounted items. Although you’ll have to check out the special birthday section of the Munzee Store to see what President Rob Vardeman decided to discount, the sale will run through tomorrow morning. From stickers to virtuals, the sale will feature various items at various times, but some stock will be limited so check the store throughout the day. The discount will not show until right before you checkout though, so don’t worry if it doesn’t automatically show up.

For those that aren’t premium players yet, we highly encourage you to sign up for a membership today. Birthday presents arrive and Clan War begins

On the eve of America’s independence, we continue to celebrate our #FiestaThree birthday here at Munzee. Whether you’re in the states or across the world, we’d like to extend a chance to celebrate Munzee’s birthday! So in between the hot dogs and fireworks this weekend you should take some time to cap and deploy. Even though it’s our birthday we want our players to get the presents, so here’s what you have a chance to win today:

For those that have been paying attention to the blog, the announcement of the ruby may not come as too much of a surprise, but what exactly that stone is will be news to all. The ruby is the birthstone of July, so it’s only fitting we would announce a new family jewel for our birthday. Much like a diamond, the ruby munzee gives players and owners a split between points when captured. In connection to our third birthday, players who cap a ruby will earn a random split of 33 points with the owner of the munzee.

The presents will be awarded to random captures throughout the day beginning around 9AM (MHQ time) TODAY ONLY, so the best way to strengthen your chance is to get out and capture all day! If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll even earn more than one! Clan Wars begin today as well, so this should be an added incentive to play today. Birthday celebrations are just beginning, so keep checking back so you can make sure you don’t miss out on anything.

Happy Birthday Munzee!

Get ready to blow out the candles because it is officially Munzee’s 3rd birthday celebration, or #FiestaThree as we’ve come to call it around the office. As we celebrate our three years of outstanding achievements, we want to give back to the players that continue to give it their all year after year! This July we have a long list of events and announcements planned throughout the month, so be sure to stay tuned as we reveal more in the coming weeks. Remember, “three is a magic number”, so you may want to keep an eye out every three days this month!

We’ll have sales on special items throughout the month, so to start off we’d like to announce sales on the following items for beginning July 1 at 9 AM (MHQT, GMT-5) for 24 hours.

Those who saw the July Clan Requirements may have heard a bit about this new sparkle in coachv’s eye, but check in Thursday morning to learn exactly what the new munzee is.

The time has come for… COPA DO MUNZO!

In celebration of Munzee, our players across the world and the greatest sport known to man, we are happy to announce the Copa Do Munzo special map which will go live tomorrow at 3 p.m. (GMT-5). From the first whistle in Brazil on June 12 until Germany hoists the cup (according to Munzee President Rob Vardeman anyway) on July 13, we will have 704 bouncing footballs (soccer balls to those in the States) on the map across the world. These special captures will attach to physical greenies that have already been deployed internationally and those lucky enough to find them get a Copa Do Munzo special icon and badge. As players cap the specials a reward of 23 points will be randomly split between the player that captured it and the owner of the Munzee. Once captured the ball will bounce to a new location somewhere in the world and similarly if a ball is not captured within six hours of spawning it will relocate. Why 704 bouncing balls? Why 23 points? Well we’ll leave that to the smartest of our Munzee players to figure out, because those numbers do indeed signify something.

Also, don’t forget to visit www.munzee.com/football to pick who you think will win the Cup this year for a chance to win even more extras. You’ll have until noon (GMT-5) tomorrow to pick your team, so don’t miss out. GeoGearHeads Podcast 127 featuring Munzee

In case you missed it, last Thursday the guys over at GeoGearHeads were gracious enough to invite President Rob Vardeman for an update on all things Munzee.

-Rob introduced a slew of updates on some of our newer Munzees including:

Motel Munzees, where players can lease capture locations and receive a cut of up to five players’ deploys
Mystery Munzees that give anywhere from 5-50 capture points.
Rovers that can travel with you or without you, all across the world.
The new Blast Capture tool, which allows players to capture up to 100 Munzees in a one mile radius.
Colored Munzees, to add to the artistry of virtual gardens that continue to pop up around the world.

-He expanded on the integration of the Fitbit technology and hopes Munzee can give players even more of a purpose when getting out into the world and capturing. In connection to the fitness aspect of Munzee, Rob also hopes to bring back Munzee apparel that players can buy and possibly even including more active wear options.

-Munzee is also proud to announce that players with a Pebble Smartwatch will be able to download the Munzee companion app which notifies you of nearby Munzees and can display socials as well as Fitbit stats. The app is available for Android users now and should be available to iPhone users any day.

-An update on all of the philanthropic work Munzee has done over the past year, including our donation of $25,000 to the Ronald McDonald House of Spokane, WA late this month.

-Finally, Rob gave a look into the Munzee events over the next few months including an Oktoberfest celebration in McKinney, TX, the #MunzeeSummer campaign and the creation of our Copa Do Munzo international football tournament connection as well. By visiting Munzee.com/football players will be able to choose which country they think the will win the World Cup in Brazil and can earn special points as their team advances.
