May the Fourth Specials + ZEE-Dayz

Today is a very special day in the Munzee world — it’s May 4th! Pre-pandemic, this date was a popular choice for events themed around a certain space opera, so the Munzee Calendar would be full of “May the Fourth” events. Creative event hosts found a way to extend this theme to the 5th and 6th days of the month by dubbing them either “Return of the Fifth” or “Return of the Sixth” events, respectively. While the current situation has unfortunately put these events on hiatus (not to mention that all of these days are during the workweek, which would make it difficult for players to meet up for an event anyway) we decided to bring the party to you! Read on for everything you need to know!

May the Fourth Specials

From the period of Wednesday, May 4th at 12:00 MHQ through Thursday, May 12th at 23:59 MHQ, May the Fourth Specials will bounce around on the map! Like the original KrampBots, these specials are Mechz, which means they are also tPOBs, but solely owned by an official Munzee account. No players are able to purchase/own/deploy a May the Fourth special. We’ll be releasing the Mechz in waves, but will end at a total of 1000 ARF2D2s and 1000 ZEE-3P0s. They will bounce around every 6 hours or when capped.

These specials will stay on the map until they have been captured 5 times, when they will be archived. After the fifth capture these specials will be “swamped” or “scrapped”, respectively, which results in more points for the capper.

These specials will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture an ARF2D2 or ZEE-3P0 on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same ARF2D2 or ZEE-3P0 visits you. These munzees will not be blastable. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the May the Fourth specials under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

When an ARF2D2 is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Leash Sabers. Similarly, when a ZEE-3P0 is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Tin Toppers.

These scatters will be visible to any player! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet.

NEW Scrap Star Details

We are happy to unveil the Scrap Star,  the second temporary virtual Destination! The Scrap Star works just like the tPOB Pub, except that it ONLY ATTRACTS Mechz.

It is available NOW in the Freeze Tag Online Store HERE. Be sure to shop fast, because it will leave the store at 12:00 MHQ on Monday, May 16th!

  • Players will see the base icon above for 0, but then a 1-6 as more Mechz stop by

The deploy circle for Scrap Star will be 4,000 feet (1219.2 m) from the nearest tPOB Pub or Scrap Star. Capture radius is 1000 feet.

To access the Scrap Star, turn on your Virtual filter and find it under “Destinations”. If the Scrap Star is hosting munzees, it can also be visible with the “All Expiring Specials” filter.

Mech Sale!

From the period of Wednesday, May 4th at 12:00 MHQ through Monday, May 16th at 12:00 MHQ (same period as Scrap Star availability), select Mechz are back in stock! Shop them all in the Mech Collection HERE!

When you purchase a Mech, it will auto-deploy the Mech and also provide you with the Blueprints to rebuild it again with Cogs, if you don’t already own it.

These Animal QRackers are Too Sweet for Soup!

Continuing our animal-filled April, we’ve created Animal QRacker specials just in time for National Animal Crackers Day! These specials are live NOW until 23:59 MHQ time on May 1!

Animal QRacker Specials

We’ll be distributing the boxes in waves, but will end at a total of 900 Green Animal QRacker Boxes and 900 Red Animal QRacker Boxes. Though there will only be one icon shown on the map, there are a possibility of 7 different icons for each (a total of 14 different results!) revealed after this special is captured. Each icon will correspond with a different QRacker that will not be visible until captured, similar to how the Magic 8 Ball specials worked. They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.

Pizza My Heart Specials for Food Lovers Everywhere!

While the V-Mailbox is sure to excite and amuse once it kicks off on Valentine’s Day, we wanted to give everyone something to chew on until then. Since today is National Pizza Day, creating specials celebrating one of our beloved foods was a no-brainer!

Pizza My Heart specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until March 6 at 23:59 MHQ. You can use the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters to more easily view them on the map. There are quite a few different specials, so check out a breakdown of each below!

Pizza My Heart Specials

These specials will be released in waves, ending at a total of 1,229 Pizza My Heart Specials available for capture on the map — that breaks down to 100 of each ingredient except for Pepperoni, of which there are only 29. Since Pepperoni were so popular in our latest React Poll, the demand means there’s less to go around. Pizza My Heart Specials are attracted to either Physical or Virtual Magnets depending on their type. None of these specials are blastable.

Badges

There are two lines of badges related to Pizza My Heart specials.

The first line is based on overall Pizza My Heart captures. These badges will give you all of the tools you need to run a successful pizzeria! The first badge in this line depicts a pizza box earned by capping any ingredient!

The second line of badges is based on capping different combinations of Pizza My Heart specials, similar to last year’s World Sushi Day specials. Make sure to cap at least one of each special so you can try each type of pizza!

As we were brainstorming ways to celebrate Chinese New Year, we realized that Chinese Zodiacs were missing a crucial component that adds to the appeal of ALL munzee types — a badge line! It’s been almost 4 years since this type was introduced, so the badges are long overdue! To prevent the same thing from happening with Egyptian Zodiacs, we’ve gone ahead and created a line for it as well. But before we get into the badge line details, we’d like to direct your attention to the related sale we’ve got going on right now!

Need Help Putting Up the Christmas Lights? Zeus is Your Man!

For the most wonderful time of the year, it sure is a lot of work! Especially if you make the effort to decorate the exterior of your home with colorful Christmas lights — it is not only a veritable workout but also a potentially dangerous task. So if you’d prefer to pass the task off to a professional this year, you’ll be in good hands with this newest Modern Myth!

Zeus will be available for sale starting at 15:00 MHQ time today until 12:00 MHQ time on Dec 6!

Zeus Details

The Zeus Modern Myth will be available for purchase HERE! He will be spotted bouncing around to Greenies, Topazes, Electric Mysteries, Yellow, Orange, and Light Green Colored Virtuals*, Treehouses, and Skylands every 12 hours or when capped.

Each Zeus is numbered and will be owned by a Munzee player. You can pick this Myth up for $20! The sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership. Only ONE (1) Zeus is allowed per account.

  • Deploy: 250
  • Capture: 200
  • CapOn: 100

In keeping with the Modern Myth line, when he is captured 3 new munzees will also be scattered nearby — these will either be Lightning Bolts or Multimeters!

These will scatter like feathers so there are no CapOn points but they are worth 50 points for capture!

Zeus is able to be upgraded via a Bouncer Upgrade Credit, which gives the ability to be “nudged” or be renamed. The upgrade credit will give you the ability to “nudge” your Zeus to a new munzee up to three times a day, following the MHQ 24-hour day, after it has been on its host munzee for at least three hours. This nudging ability is only available for the owner via the munzee’s webpage and is not available in the app.

Your munzee will still retain its unique number, but feel free to get creative when it comes to renaming your Zeus! Just be sure to follow the Player Code of Conduct, and remember Munzee maintains a family-friendly environment.

If you’re hoping to cap one of these brand new Modern Myths, then you’re in luck! Zeus will be attracted to Munzee Magnets and Virtual Munzee Magnets. You can access Zeus by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Mythological” filters.

Badges

Deploying Zeus will earn you the badge shown on the left below. All captures will count toward the Myth Collectors badge line. There is also a line of hidden Capture badges that you can earn for Zeus captures, with 3 badges currently available, but more to come! The first in this line is shown on the right below:

Previous Modern Myths Still Available!

If you missed out on Poseidon, Aphrodite, or Hades, they were available until today as part of our Cyber Munzday Sale, which was set to end at the time of this blog’s release. Since we don’t want Zeus to be lonely in the store, we’ve extended the time period for these Modern Myths ONLY — they will now remain in the store until the same end date as Zeus.

Need Some Assistance? Call In The Pro-fright-ionals!

Would you believe we got the idea for these specials from a Dad Joke group? Once we heard the joke (“We all know Albert Einstein was a genius… But his brother Frank was a monster.”), we couldn’t pass it up, especially since we’ve already done a similar concept with Modern Myths! We hope you enjoy working with the Pro-fright-ionals! These specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until October 31 at 23:59 MHQ.

Pro-fright-ional Details

There will be a total of 800 Pro-fright-ional Specials available for capture — that breaks down to 200 of each type. When you capture a Pro-fright-ional, you will earn 1 – 3 Candy Corn Credits! More Pro-fright-ionals may emerge if we feel that their Candy Corn Credit quota isn’t being met. Half of the Pro-fright-ionals will only land on physical munzees, while the other half will only land on virtual munzees, as you can see below:

A New Gaming Munzee Fit For a Queen!

We have a special announcement for MunzPak subscribers, as the September MunzPaks will feature the brand new Chess Set Munzees! It will be available in Virtual and Hybrid MunzPak subscriptions, which you can order in the Freeze Tag Online Store beginning on September 1 at 00:01 MHQ time (remember if you order a MunzPak before then, you will be ordering the August one!). You can also purchase these munzees by themselves or in a few Gaming Packs HERE!

Chess Sets

This new munzee type is based on the classic game of chess, which has recently enjoyed an increase in popularity due to the Netflix show, The Queen’s Gambit. Chess Sets come in both Walnut (physical) and Maple (virtual) forms, though both forms work similarly and are worth the same point values.

The point values for the Chess Sets are as follows:

Points 

  • Cap: 64
  • CapOn: 30
  • Deploy: 50

Maple Chess Sets are not blastable. To access these munzees (including the scatters), turn on their filters in the “Physical – Gaming” and “Virtual – Gaming” sections.

Chess Pieces

Capping a Chess Set will cause up to three Chess Pieces to scatter nearby, like Feathers, within 1500 feet. This means there are no CapOn points, but if you’re lucky, you’ll get the rarer pieces — the point values for all of them are shown below! They’ll stay on the map for 2 hours after scattering. The capture radius is 300 feet for these, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These can only be seen by the person who capped the Chess Set, similar to Infrared Munzees.

The point values for the Chess Pieces are as follows:

  • Pawn: 10
  • Knight: 30
  • Bishop: 30
  • Rook: 50
  • Queen: 90
  • King: 100

Badges

There are currently 9 badges you can earn by playing with our Chess Sets, split into 2 different badge lines. One badge line, which covers 6 of those badges, is based on the number of points you’ve earned with Chess Sets and Chess Pieces. You can see the first badge in this line below:

Priority Pawn – Earn 1,000 Total Points from Chess Set Munzees of any type.

The remaining 3 badges are based on capturing a specific combination of Chess Pieces. Since these badges have special requirements we’d like you to discover as you play, we want to keep them a secret for now. Hopefully they shouldn’t be too tough for you to get!

Can You Fix Our Ties?

For this set of specials, we wanted to try something a little different — instead of starting them around the special day we’re celebrating, we are having them lead up to the day — kind of like our delayed MHQ Bash we’re hoping to have next year in May (? fingers crossed!). So, as Bow Tie Day is on the 28th, starting at 12:00 MHQ today, Bow Ties will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on August 29th.

A total of 704 Bow Tie specials will be unleashed! That breaks down into 88 of each of the 8 bow ties. They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.

Did You Get Our Invite? More 10th Annual Award ZEEson Ceremony Details!

We first posted our invitations yesterday on social media to give you a heads-up — now we have a few more details filled in!

Some slightly more detailed info in list form:

  • We are shooting for a start time of 14:30 MHQ on July 29. In the case of any technical difficulties, we will let you know of any new start times as soon as we can.
  • You will be able to view the LIVE video on our Facebook Page HERE!
  • As usual, Facebook should automatically post the completed recording on the page once the live video is over, so if you’re not able to watch it live, you can still have your own Award Ceremony experience afterwards! We’ll post the link to the recording here as well.

Can You Reunite the Lost Socks With Their Other Halves?

Did you know that May 24th is National Scavenger Hunt Day? As it’s the perfect holiday to highlight Munzee, we’ve decided to celebrate it the ENTIRE MONTH! We have a few surprises in the works, but as it IS a new month, the first order of business was to create some new themed specials! We took inspiration from a holiday that’s coming up even sooner — National Lost Sock Memorial Day on May 9th! Starting at 12:00 MHQ today, Lost Socks will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on May 31st.

Classic scavenger hunts often require you to find socks of a particular (and usually uncommon) color (i.e. red), so we thought turning them into specials to chase would be a fun twist! A total of 1,520 Lost Sock specials will be unleashed! That breaks down into 95 of each of the 16 socks. They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.

Lost Socks will be attracted to Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.
