December 2019 Clan Wars Requirements

Now that we have a separate section for Clans in our app we are probably moving away from posting the requirements and rewards online each month. To keep the tradition alive as we end 2019 we’re posting the information today for Battle 81.

Are you ready for battle?! Clan Battle #81 will begin on December 3 at 00:01 MHQ time. Some might even think these requirements and rewards are like an early Christmas gift?!?

Would you like to join a new clan or try out Clan Wars for the first time? You can use the Clan Randomizer button in-app to find a spot! With our newly updated Clan Wars system, that you can extensively read about on the Help Guide, you can now use the Clan Randomizer button at anytime, since it’s now possible to join Clan Wars after the battle has commenced for the month. Just remember that once you join a clan and the battle begins, you’re unable to leave until the current battle concludes.

Scroll down to the end of the blog for a friendly reminder of our acronyms, or for the definition of “bouncers” such as MOB, TOB and POB. And remember that there are new Clan Wars badges to earn, including monthly Level badges and monthly Leaderboard badges! You can find more information about the December badges at the end of the blog as well!

December Resolutions Ask You to Dig Deep!

We’ve done it! We’ve reached the final month of 2019. Looking back at all the previous months, how has your journey of self-improvement gone thus far? This month we’d like to expand on the previous month’s theme of volunteer work by opening it up to all forms of giving.

Giving from the heart can cost nothing!

Since January, we’ve been releasing monthly Capture Streak badges centered around a year of personal improvement. Each month’s unique badge is dedicated to accomplishing another New Year’s Resolution in our quest for a year of positive growth and change. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. Besides volunteering, let’s consider the other ways in which we can give more!

The Good of Giving More

Everybody has limited resources. During the holiday season, this is probably felt even more so, as you struggle to cross off names on your own Nice list. Volunteer work is a great way to give more as it often only costs you time — but how else can we give more without further breaking the bank? Maybe you’d still prefer to give to strangers — in that case, have a tidying up session and donate your gently used items that no longer spark joy! The benefits will be twofold — you get a cleaner home, and someone else will get something they want and/or need!

If you need to ease your way into it, you can start by giving in your very own home! Is there anything around the house that needs to be repaired? Put on your ZeeQRew hardhat and fix it! Is there a Global Grub someone in your family has always wanted to try? Buy the ingredients on your next grocery trip and get cooking! Has it been way too long since your last Family Board Game Night? Break out the MH-Qlue, Monopoly, or your own preferred tabletop game and see if your strategies have improved since last time… or not!

Perhaps the most important way to give more, in today’s world of mental health and anxiety issues, is to lavish someone with words of love. Tell your loved ones that you love them. Spread the love to more distant family members and friends by calling, texting, e-mailing, or even sending snail mail to let them know how much you care. If you are already in the habit of doing those things, try complimenting a stranger. Many of us have been taught that “actions speak louder than words” and prefer to use actions (such as those listed in the previous paragraph) to show how much we care — but sometimes, actions are too subtle. Sometimes, we need to hear with our own ears that we are loved.

And that’s a wrap! We hope you enjoyed this year of Resolutions! Let us know which one you took to heart the most!

Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

Munzee Celebrates Origami Day with All New Specials!

Have you noticed the Flat Friends have been playing with arts and crafts?!

While we’ve been mentioning the holiday season for a little while now, one special day that you might not have anticipated us celebrating happens to be the reason for our next specials! In honor of November 11th being Origami Day, we have a new set of bouncing specials that have started hitting the map!

You may have noticed the Flats’ arts and crafts project bouncing around the map already, but there are four types of the virtual MOBs. The Origami specials will be on the map from now until November 18th at 23:59 MHQ time to celebrate World Origami Day.

Origami Day celebrates the wonder of paper folding, both an exciting and restorative form of art. One of our 4 icons features an origami crane, an image symbolic of hope and healing through hardship. Folding 1,000 origami cranes is traditionally believed to grant one wish. Today these beliefs filter into charities revolving around this recognized symbol of hope. We’re launching these specials in accordance with this message, as well as to celebrate the beauty and fun of paper folding!

Origami Details

There will be 1,111 Origami specials (approximately 278 of each type) bouncing around the map. These specials will feature 4 virtual MOBs that will land on Virtuals and specific Flat Friends Munzees every 6 hours or when captured. If you checked out the November Flat Friends schedule, you might have noticed that Flat Friends will be active throughout the entire duration of these specials.

The 4 specials include:

  • Origami Crane, lands on Flat Robs and all colors of virtuals (278 of these specials)
  • Origami Lily, lands on Flat Lous and all colors of virtuals (278 of these specials)
  • Origami Boat, lands on Flat Matts and all colors of virtuals (278 of these specials)
  • Origami Butterfly, lands on Flat Hammocks and all colors of virtuals (277 of these specials)

The points* distribution for these specials will be the same for all 4:

  • Capture: 111 points
  • CapOn (Host): 111 points

You can access these specials by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters. The Origami specials will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on Virtuals.

Badges

Additionally, there will be three badges to earn based on number of captures of Origami specials. But just how many captures it takes to earn all 3 badges will be kept a secret! However, we will reveal the first badge in the line, which appears as follows:

Wishful Wrappings– Capture at least one of any type of Origami Special

We hope you’re ready to celebrate the wonders of origami with us!

Munzee on!

*During the initial testing of these new types some players may have seen double points on these captures, but this issue has been resolved. All Origami special captures will be worth 111 points.

Countdown To Christmas With a Munzee Advent Calendar!

With Halloween behind us, it’s safe to say that the holiday season is officially upon us! Though last year we waited until Cyber Munzday to put our 2018 Advent Calendars on sale, we couldn’t resist spreading some seasonal cheer early this year! That means that you’ll be able to purchase your 2019 Advent Calendars from now through November 18th at 10:00 MHQ in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

Like our previous advent-style products, this year’s calendar will delight players with one Munzee-themed reward each day leading up to Christmas. There is a notable difference in this year’s Calendar though! The Advent Calendar for 2019 is primarily physical and will be shipped to you after you have purchased it. Due to shipping times varying that means some of you will receive your calendar before others. In the Christmas spirit we suggest holding off on deploying these until their scheduled day, but you will be able to see the calendar in it’s entirety when you receive it. You know what they say though, good things come to those who wait!

This collection of 25 physical munzees is worth more than $45 and will be available for $25 in the FT Store! If you joined in on the fun last year you know there might be some other surprises as well, but this is a great deal on it’s own!

Join us in starting the holiday season off early with 25 days of joyous surprises! Are you ready to countdown to Christmas?

Munzee Toolkit Munzday

Munzee Toolkit MunzDay: Vike91

One of the best parts about Munzee is that you can play how you want. Everyone goes about playing a bit differently, and that leads to some very creative and innovative uses of objects. From containers to bags to maintenance, we always encounter something new when we meet players. We want to showcase your Munzee Toolkits to see how you play the game and possibly even inspire other players who may need help! This week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes from Vike91!

The week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes to us from Vike91, who hails from Kajaani, Finland. In the past year and a half, Vike91 has amassed over 650,000 points thanks to his clever Munzee strategies. Though considered a fairly new player, Vike91 has quickly accumulated quite an extensive Munzee Toolkit! Read on to discover all the goodies he packs away!

Vike91 Toolkit

First, I have a cheap jig/lure case (got it for 4 dollars in a fishing store). The advantage of this case is it has modifiable compartments.

My case contains the following:

  • Foldable scissors for cutting out too big munzees, very handy! I got them on eBay for 1 dollar a piece. (The toolkit only includes one pair of scissors, the other is just for full display)
  • A whistle for emergencies
  • 2 Personal Munzees whenever I meet another Munzee player (I wish my area had more)
  • 2 coins
  • A Munzee badge
  • A small tin box to carry with at all times, with self-printed munzees (maybe I should throw in some generics as well for QRew repair)
  • And of course, self-adhesive munzees!

I have arranged all the munzees by type/type group/size, I know exactly where each type is. There are over 600 self-adhesive munzee stickers in the case.

First column has generic and self-printed munzees.

Second column includes all the 1×2 inch sized munzees (Horoscopes, Camo Greenies)

Third column includes 2×1 specials (RUMs, Prize Wheels, Motels, Hotels, Shamrocks, and Jewels) and Evos.

Fourth column has special and Camo Greenies.

Fifth one has 1×1 sized specials (Seasonals, Jewels, Mysteries, Bowling), oversized stickers, coins/badge and Horoscopes.

Sixth one includes the over-over-oversized Mystery sticker and my Geocaching-related stickers. It also holds almost all the small things, like Personals.

I also have a backpack where I pack this box in, and just in case, I pack a power bank with me so I don’t run out of power. When charging, I often leave the power bank in the backpack, rig the cable through a hole in backpack and finally, connect it to my phone. I have been considering to get a retractable wheel charging cable for this purpose.

Finland has COLD winters, so I also carry a portable blowtorch with me to defrost frozen surfaces for better stick.

I chose all of those items, because I feel those are the most necessary items to play Munzee for me.

Maybe I have too many stickers… maybe I should go deploy, deploy, and deploy some more. Deploy… they will come (or at least they say so)…

Share Your Kit!

If you have a Munzee Toolkit that you’d like to show off, you can email us at iloveyou@munzee.com with the subject “Munzee Toolkit.” Make sure to include:

  • Your username and where you are from.
  • A few high quality photos.
  • A list of what each item is and how you use it.
  • What made you decide to use those items.
  • Any other relevant details.

Please feel free to include as much information about your gameplay as you wish to share! We want to see your creativity and learn how you play, so show us what you’ve got! And for Munzee tips and tricks, you can always check out our Help Guide articles!

A big Munzee thank you to Vike91 for sharing his Munzee Toolkit! You can thank him for sharing by deploying in his town of Kajaani, Finland!

Bowling Ball Munzee Details

UPDATE: This blog was originally posted in November 2018. As of November 2019, the Bowling Ball Munzee has been updated,  reflected by the information below. You can find complete information about all Gaming Munzees on the Help Guide.

As promised, we have the details for the ALL NEW Bowling Ball Munzee! This addition to the Gaming Munzees is sure to knock a few pins loose! The Bowling Ball point system is based on ten-pin bowling, and you will have a chance to earn more points based on how many “pins” you “knock down.”

BASIC GAMEPLAY:

Bowling Ball Munzee:

Are you ready to play this classic game the Munzee way? Capturing a Bowling Ball will award you 25 points to start. The Bowling Ball Munzee will then initiate a mini-game (within a game, within a game!) for more points. Capturing a Bowling Ball Munzee will lead to a new virtual munzee called “Bowling – 1st Roll” being scattered to a location within 750 ft. You will be able to see the second stage (1st Roll) only after stage one (Bowling Ball) is captured. The scattered munzees will remain active for 1 hour or until captured from within a 150ft distance.

1st Roll Munzee:

Capturing the 1st Roll Munzee, released after Capturing the Bowling Ball, will provide different options for players. If you earn a STRIKE, you will be awarded 300 points, and the game will be done. You also have the opportunity to earn anywhere between 1-9 points (one for each pin “knocked” down), and the game will advance to a virtual “2nd Roll,” which will be scattered within 500ft.

2nd Roll Munzee:

A 2nd Roll Munzee will be made available to players who have capped a Bowling Ball and a 1st Roll and did not earn a Strike on the 1st Roll. When the 2nd Roll Munzee is captured, players will either earn a SPARE and be awarded 150 points, or they will earn between 10-80 points based on number of pins “knocked” down. Either way, this will conclude the game!

POINT BREAKDOWN:

Bowling Ball Munzee

  • Deploy: 50 points
  • Capture: 25 points
  • CapOn: 20 points

1st Roll Munzee

STRIKE!

300 points

-or-

SO CLOSE

1-9 points

2nd Roll Munzee

SPARE!

150 points

-or-

GAME OVER!

10-80 points

The first Bowling Ball will be a physical munzee, while the 1st Roll and 2nd Roll will both be virtual scatters. The Bowling Ball has a standard deploy radius. The scattered munzees will remain active for 1 hour or until captured from within a 150ft (45.72 m) distance.

Additionally there are a number of different badges you can earn based on capturing the Bowling Ball Munzees, earning Strikes, and earning Spares. Check out the first of each badge line here:

October GOTM and POTM Winners!

Happy Halloween! We hope everyone has a scary good night while staying safe! Today we’re happy to announce the winners of October Garden of the Month (GOTM) and Player of the Month (POTM), as well as announce the criteria for November POTM! Ready to discover what themed gardens claimed the October title?

October GOTM

It’s time to recognize some outstanding Virtual Garden builders who helped us get in the holiday spirit! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Abstatt Tomcat (aka Munzee Tomcat), designed by Chandabelle, and the Cedar Rapids Pumpkin Garden, designed by Rodrico101, as our winning October GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Abstatt Tomcat by Chandabelle in Abstatt Germany

Halloween has black cats on our mind, but this Munzee Tomcat offers plenty of color for spooky season. The garden is inspired by the Rälling cat, which is the town mascot of Abstatt, Germany. You can find statues of the cat all over Abstatt, but especially in Bürger Park. You can find some real world pictures of the cat below!

Cedar Rapids Pumpkin Garden by Rodrico101 in Iowa

No spooky season would be complete without a pumpkin! This jack-o-lantern face holds all the menace of spooky fun, so we couldn’t resist awarding it as October GOTM! Plus, this garden is extra special, because player Rodrico101 also created a Frankenstein Garden right next to his pumpkin! Though only the pumpkin won GOTM, you can check both gardens out below:

And speaking of honorable mentions, there is one more garden we would like to recognize! Like the Frankenstein Garden, it wasn’t 100% filled at the time of nomination, and therefore is not legible for GOTM, but we loved the Jack-O’-Lantern Garden too much not to give it some attention! You can assist father and son garden designing team SEvans and LiamCEvans by clicking the link to the spreadsheet to help them finish deploying in their spooktacular garden! The design appears as follows:

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Send your nomination for GOTM to iloveyou@munzee.com! Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

October POTM

October POTM called for player nominations, as we asked for you to email us your nominations for hosts who go the extra mile for the good of the game. The following QRazy Contributors have been recognized by their fellow players for helping to create external tools that facilitate gameplay! The winners are:

  • RUJA
  • sohcah
  • Hinklenator
  • Georiffles
  • Laczy76
  • SpaceCoastGeoStore
  • MunzeeMadness
  • ddcards
  • Jesnou
  • FlexPete
  • 1849
  • MeLa

These players will all receive the following POTM badge:

A big thank you to everyone who takes the time and effort to run and maintain their third party tools!

November POTM Requirements

As October wraps up, it’s on to November, which means there will be more POTM winners coming up. This month we’re happy to announce that there will be a special November POTM badge that any player can earn regardless of previous nominations or wins. The badge will appear as follows:

How can you win this badge? Everyone who is a Munzee Premium Member by the end of November will be awarded this custom badge, as well as some freebie items! Want to know what they are? Well, you’ll just have to win the badge! To learn more about the Munzee Premium Membership, check out our Help Guide.

A final congratulations to all players who won GOTM and/or POTM badges this month. Keep up the awesome work!

November Resolutions Focus on Giving Back

We’re one day away from Halloween, which means we’re only two days away from the start of November! The holiday season is rapidly arriving, but while we anticipate festivities, gifts, and gatherings, our November Resolution is centered around giving back through volunteer work.

Time helping others is time well spent

Since January, we’ve been releasing monthly Capture Streak badges centered around a year of personal improvement. Each month’s unique badge is dedicated to accomplishing another New Year’s Resolution in our quest for a year of positive growth and change. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. Now let’s explore the meaning of this month’s badge in the quest to help others in need.

Values of Volunteer Work

The excellent news is volunteer work is a two-way street. Not only does volunteer work enhance the lives of the recipients, but it has profoundly positive effects on the volunteer as well. Volunteer work brings about personal growth, allowing people to expand their horizons, sharpen their skill sets, and have the opportunity to develop new strengths. While volunteer work can certainly make you feel better about yourself, it can also add to your resume and assist you with your career goals.

Volunteer work is important to personal growth, because it provides the opportunity to connect with people. The experience of volunteering is very rewarding, allowing the volunteer to make a positive change in the lives of others. The act of service is often propelled by directly witnessing how your good deeds affect the lives of those you assist. Overall, regular volunteer work is believed to increase self-esteem, widen your perspective, and expand your network in an environment that can often be fun.

When searching for the right place to volunteer, there are a number of factors you can keep in mind. While there are plenty of places that need extra hands, you can narrow down your options based on your skill set. Consider your true purpose in life and know what you have to offer in order to select a volunteer place that can best utilize your strengths. Choose what kind of a difference you wish to make in the world, and invest your valuable time in working for a cause that supports your goal. Along the way, you’ll be able to discover many wonderful things about yourself as you give back to those around you!
