August 2019 Clan War Requirements

Clan Battle #77 will commence on August 3 at 00:01 MHQ time, with this month’s requirements focused on POBs, Places, Evolutions, and Jewels.

From shaping up to saving up, our monthly Capture Streak badges have been centered around a year of personal improvement. As we prepare to enter into the month of August, our latest Resolution badge challenges players to stick their noses in a book!

What’s your favorite book?

Each month’s unique badge is dedicated to accomplishing another New Year’s Resolution. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. The monthly Capture Streak badges allow for the chance to work towards a different goal each month in order to bring about a year of positive growth and change.

Introducing New Leaderboard Badge Lines!

Last month’s leaderboard update opened major opportunity for new leaderboard badges. We’re happy to announce the there will be THREE new lines of leaderboard badges available to earn starting today at 10:00 MHQ time!

Our newly launched leaderboard badges will now offer the chance to pick up new badges for Captures, CapOns, and Deploys. Each line of badges will contain 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place badges for daily points achievements relating to the badge category!

New App Update and An Attractive Magnet Weekend Celebration!

We’re excited to announce that the latest Munzee update is officially live! The newest over-the-air update streamlines Munzee Magnet activation, and includes a number of new Deploy Modes for the different layers of the map!

You can find more details regarding the updates below, but first some more fun news! In celebration of the Magnet update we’re hosting a Magnet Weekend for everyone around the world!

Magnet Weekend Celebration

Starting at 00:01 MHQ on Saturday July 20, 2019 all physical and virtual Munzee Magnets will attract up to five bouncing munzees for 2 hours! This celebration will end Sunday July 21, 2019 at 23:59 MHQ. This means your Magnets are even more powerful just in time for 8zees Birthday events for the weekend, including our California Birthday Bash! To sweeten the pot all Premium Munzee members will also be awarded one free physical Munzee Magnet on Saturday as well! So if you’re not Premium hurry and join before 00:01 MHQ tomorrow!

We also have a special deal on Magnets in the Freeze Tag Online Store! Although players are limited to 10 magnets of each type every 10 days, you can now purchase physical and virtual Magnet 5 Packs for a limited amount of time! From now until Monday, July 22 at 10:00 MHQ five packs of Magnets are available for $4.50. There is a limit of 2 of each Magnet pack per customer, which means you can get an additional 10 of each Magnet type for this weekend, even if you’ve already purchased your ten for this time frame!

Munzee Magnet Update

It’s now easier than ever to Magnetize Munzees in the app! Simply go to the Details page for the Greenie or Virtual you want to Magnetize and you’ll see a bright red “Magnetize” button. This button will only show on munzees that can be Magnetized, so no more guessing and checking! When you go to Magnetize a munzee you’ll also be able to see how many Magnets you have in stock from a pop-up confirmation message.

Deploy Layers & Filters Update

Following the Munzee Map Split last month, we’re excited to announce that additional filters have been added to separate the different deploy layers in the game. This makes it much easier to tell where you can deploy certain types of munzees!

Each layer will use different colored proximity circles so you can easily tell which types are which:

  • Deploy All Types Mode – all colors, all types
  • Physical Deploy Mode – original red color
  • Virtual Deploy Mode – blue color
  • Flat Deploy Mode – green color
  • Temporary Virtual Deploy Mode – yellow color
  • Event Deploy Mode – pink color (only visible on event accounts

You can access these different deploy modes from the Filters section of the app. To help with all of these different types of munzees we have also given Premium members two additional custom preset filters, for a total of five.

Different map layers are distinguished by different color deploy circles!

Introducing the Flat Flyby Scatter Specials! (And the First 1,000 Point Munzee!!)

July 16-24 marks a historical period in time, as it is the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, the first manned mission to land on the Moon. To commemorate this critical moment in human history, Virtual Flat Shuttles will begin bouncing on Tuesday, July 16 at 00:01 MHQ time all the way until Wednesday, July 31 at 23:59 MHQ time!

Flat Shuttle Specials

Starting tomorrow, you will have the rest of the month to enjoy these brand new Flat Shuttle specials. The Flat Shuttle icons will bounce to the Flat Friends Munzees and regular Virtual Munzees every 6 hours or when capped and scatter our Flat Flyby Friends to Greenies. Flat Flyby Friends will scatter to Greenies within 1,000 ft of the initial virtual Flat Shuttle capture. 500 of these virtual specials will be bouncing around the map, and they will not be blastable.

Points

  • Capture: 69
  • CapOn: 19

You can increase your chances of capping the Flat Shuttle specials by using Virtual Magnets, available for purchase in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

Flat Flyby Friends

Each time a Flat Shuttle special is captured, one of each of the four Flat Flyby Friends —Flat Flyby Rob, Matt, Lou, and Hammock— will be scattered to a nearby Greenie for 6 hours or when capped. The Flat Flyby Friends will all be worth the same point values.

Points

  • Capture: 50
  • CapOn: 19

You can access these specials by turning on your All Expiring Specials and All Limited Edition Specials filters.

Badges

Capturing these specials will count towards Specials capture badges. They will also have their own line of badges for players to enjoy! There will be two capture badges to earn, for capturing any Flat Shuttle special and for capturing one of each of the Flat Flyby specials. The badges will appear as follows:

And that’s not all of the exciting news!

8 Mates Special

When the Shuttle Specials go live, we will also have eight “M8s” (pronounced “Mates”) enter the map as well! These physical bouncers will bounce to Greenies every 8 hours or until captured. They will remain on the map for the same duration as the Shuttle Specials, from July 16 at 00:01 MHQ time until July 31 at 23:59 MHQ time.

Ready to hear about the points?! Yes, you read the blog’s title correctly! This rare special will be worth a whopping points value, because birthday month really has us celebr8ing!

Points

  • Capture: 1,000 points + 8 PinPoints
  • CapOn: 108 points

You can access this very exciting special by turning on your All Expiring Specials and All Limited Edition Specials filters. Captures on the 8 Mates specials will count towards Specials Capture badges, as well as their own badge line. The 8 Mates specials will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets.

8 Mates Badges

There will be two badges to earn for capturing the 8 Mates specials based on number of captures. There are very few of the these specials bouncing around, so you’ll have to get really lucky if you want both! The badges will appear as follows:

We told you that July would be a GR8 month! Don’t forget that Magic 8 Ball munzees are still bouncing around until the end of the month as well, so there are TONs of specials to try for! Is this the most extravagant 8th birthday celebration that you’ve ever been a part of!? An entire month of fun, celebrations, and specials!

Team USA Earns Gold for Coupe du Munzee Victory!

The Coupe du Munzee specials might have left the map on July 7 following the conclusion of the Women’s World Cup, but we told you that wouldn’t be the end of these specials! Please welcome the Coupe Champion Nomad to the map at 15:00 MHQ time to honor our champion, Team USA!

 

This golden icon will operate similarly to our Nomad Munzees, which are rare bouncers that travel all over the map. Unlike our Coupe du Munzee specials, it will be a permanent munzee, meaning this physical bouncing game piece is here to stay! There will be 11 of the Coupe Champion Nomads on the map, and they will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when capped. The number of Nomads signifies the 11 players on the field during a game of football/soccer.

Coupe Champion Nomads work a bit differently though. When you cap any of the 11 Coupe Champion Nomads you have a chance of earn one of 23 different icons featuring the jersey number of a member of the victorious Team USA! Similar to the Magic 8 Ball Specials, you don’t know which number you’ll get so cap these rare superstars any chance you can!

Points:

  • Capture: 500
  • CapOn: 250

These munzees can be captured on previously capped and owned munzees. They will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets. You can access the Coupe Champion Nomads by turning on your All Expiring Specials and All Limited Edition Specials filters.

Badge

There will be a special badge to earn upon capturing at least one Coupe Champion Nomad. These new bouncers will also count toward the other Nomad badge lines as well.

We would also like to take a moment to acknowledge all of the teams that participated in the Coupe, especially the Netherlands team that put up such a great fight in the championship game. As a worldwide game ourselves we value the merits of international competition, and we had a ton of fun watching all of the games alongside our own international players. Now get out there and cap the Coupe Champion Nomad to celebrate the victory of Team USA! Even if you weren’t rooting for them, you have to admire the athletic achievement of the fierce women of Team USA!

Celebrate the 8zees with New 8th Place Badges!

Though hardcore players usually strive to be first, there is now an advantage for earning 8th place! In honor of the #8zees and Munzee’s 8 weeks of 8th birthday 80s throwback celebrations, we’re introducing the 8th place leaderboard badges today at 10:00 MHQ time!

There will now be three new badges that players can earn for earning 8th place on the three daily leaderboards. These badges are not retroactive, but you’ll be able to earn them starting today! That means if you end the day in 8th place on the Virtual, Physical, or Overall Daily Leaderboard, you’ll be able to earn these respective badges:

Munzee’s Official Birthday Bash is Coming Up! (Plus New Tags!)

Will you be joining us in California for Munzee’s Official Birthday Bash on Saturday, July 20? The #8zees will be in full swing as Matt, Dylan, Craig, Mick, Mari, Tamara, and Emma join players in turning back time for Munzee’s 8th birthday celebration in sunny Tustin, CA! You will be able to earn some awesome new badges and icons, including the two pictured below:

You can RSVP to the event now to join members of the Freeze Tag Team on July 20 at 10:00 in Citrus Ranch Park for an unforgettable trip down memory lane. Not sure what to wear? As you recall, each event host has been awarding players with a special badge for best 8zees (80s) attire. And though staff members won’t be vying for this badge, they will be dressing up!

Members of staff will be taking a little “trip to the movies,” as some Freeze Tag teammates will be dressing up as some of their favorite 80s movie characters. Whether you’re more of a Ferris Bueller or an Indiana Jones, we know you want to join in on the 8zees fun! New RetireMyths Set to Haunt the Map (Plus Zombie Pouch Creatures!)

The map has seemed a little too calm lately, so we’ve sent out some brand new RetireMyths to haunt it! There will be a number of new RetireMyths, representing our latest Mythological Munzees, setting out to haunt the map at their own will! These creatures will begin haunting the map very soon!

New RetireMyths

Our latest RetireMyths will include the physical and virtual Banshee RetireMyth, the physical and virtual Fairy RetireMyth, and the physical Mermaid RetireMyth. Like the other RetireMyths, these game pieces will join the map once any Myth owned by an Inactive or Retired account has been archived. These munzees will roam the map at certain times, and are worth 500 points upon first capture, with the point value decreasing by 1 point per each subsequent capture of the unique RetireMyth.

As a reminder, RetireMyths are not attracted to magnets, and they land on the same type of Munzee as their regular counterpart. That means you might want to brush up on your Mythological Munzee knowledge in order to find these ghoulish game pieces.

Zombie Pouch Creatures

Our Myth Munzees can’t be the only type haunting the map! Now introducing the Zombie Pouch Creatures, which will operate like RetireMyths for Pouch Creatures owned by Inactive or Retired accounts!

Muru, Tuli, and Vesi just got a little bit gloomier (though Muru was always pretty gloomy) with their Zombie Pouch Creature variants. They will work the same way that RetireMyths do, entering the map at select times and landing on the same type of Munzee as their regular counterpart. Like the RetireMyths, Zombie Pouch Creatures will be worth 500 points upon first cap and 1 point less for each cap per unique munzee that follows. Please note that Zombie Pouch Creatures will NOT level up into their other forms.
